What do you weigh and what dress size are you?

I know there’s lots of other factors but I’m
mainly asking because I’m trying to lose weight for my friends wedding and I’m just wondering what dress size I may be by then if I keep on track.
Also I’m just curious, it’s so interesting how everyone’s bodies can be so different!

I’ll go first! I’m 5ft 7 and I weigh 11.5stone I’m a size 14.
even at my thinnest (around 9.5-10st) I don’t seem to go lower than a size 12.

obviously size doesn’t actually matter, but I’m just interested!

5ft6.5 10stone 8 I’ve come down a few lbs in the last few weeks and I’m fitting in more size 10s

Iamanunsafebuilding · 26/05/2022 12:42

5ft 7in and 12st 1lb, size 14 on the bottom and usually 16 on the top as I'm fairly booby. Between 11 and 11.5st is where I feel good but can still eat and drink fairly freely, finding it really hard to shift this stone though!

astorsback · 26/05/2022 12:52

Five foot 6 & three quarters. 10stone 10 pounds.

Inverted triangle shape so wear a 12 on top and a 10 on the bottom.

38-28-38 which makes me sound like an hourglass but Im not as I have very long slim legs and hips.

CurlyCew · 26/05/2022 13:43

I just wondered if those of you around the 10.5-11 stone mark at 5'.6" wear clothes that are quite snug or what?

I am 67 kilos (10.5 st) and anything smaller than a 16 it feels like I am poured into it and swaddled! The only exception is trousers, a 12 or 14 fit perfectly depending on the cut.

Maybe it is just me, but I dislike anything tight, I always feel that the fleshy bits are visible, you know around the bra back/belly area and so on. I am looking at walking/rain jackets online right now and am just bamboozled. Should I get a 16 or even an 18 for looseness and comfort. GAAAAH.

Honestly I am amazed at those of you at or above my weight who fit a 12/14. What am I doing wrong! Probably too conscious of clothes being snug on me I suppose. The "sit down test" usually makes me cringe even though the item fits so I go a size up. Maybe I need to work on my confidence or something.

It is odd that you are wearing a size 14-16 at 10.5 stone. I am a whole stone bigger than you and wear a size 10 (5ft 8 though). Not just floaty dresses, but fitted dresses with/without zips, skinny jeans, paperbag and skinny trousers, skirts, jumpsuits etc. They all fit comfortably.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 26/05/2022 13:52

I am, admittedly, an inch taller and a few pounds lighter than you, @CurlyCew , but I'd drown in a 16. I accidentally bought a pair of size 12 jeans yesterday (they were on a size 10 hanger) and they've had to go back as they won't stay up. I don't wear my clothing tight, either, as I hate feeling constricted.

Lupyto · 26/05/2022 13:55

Yes curlycew I am the same but 5ft6 and about 11.4 or 11.6. I am 12 or 14 on the bottom - I don’t mind jeans etc being tight but I tend to get 16 or even 18 for tops. I actually started measuring me according to the manufacturers guides and sure enough 16 is the right size when I measure chest. So 18 if I want it to be loose. It’s so weird though. I don’t think of myself as a 16-18 at all I look fairly swim in a swim suit (I think) . Maybe I am deluded !

That's why I put my measurements. I'm very solid and 14s are comfortable, not tight.

People carry weight in different ways though - small waists, small top half, leg sizes, arms sizes etc.

Sounds like you prefer a loose fit!

FrecklesMalone · 26/05/2022 14:03

Fatty over here
12 stone 5 foot 7. Inbetween a 14 and 16

CurlyCew · 26/05/2022 14:04

Thanks for your obs on my clothes size mania! I think it is a confidence thing. As I said trousers/jeans are fine in 12/14, any bigger and they would fall down! But re dresses, tops and casual jackets I am never comfortable in anything less than 16 even though I would probably squeeze into 14. I have a 36 D bust and it's getting a bit bigger as I get older, womenopause lol.

I'm not slim and trim and toned either but am not overweight. Illness has ravaged me lately but am getting back to kind of normal. I have lost my confidence a bit I think. I have returned three dresses recently because they were either too snug or too loose. I am a bit fed up trying to get things to fit me, but I am probably just far too self conscious and want to disappear unnoticed!

It is great to let all this out at last, I thought I was going mad.

TitInATrance · 26/05/2022 14:07

5’7 “. 61kg size 12.
Occasionally size 10 in M&S but I’ll never be that small in average-shop sizes because of the width of my shoulders and hips - it’s bone not fat!

Lovinglife45 · 26/05/2022 14:07

Curlycew
I have similar items of clothing - all a size 10. I agree with other posters that we all carry our weight differently.

ImFree2doasiwant · 26/05/2022 14:13

Im 5ft 7 and 12st 13 this morning. I've just bought several items of clothing in a 14 which are comfortable, not at all tight. Interestingly, many years ago I was 9st 2 and a 10/12. Also interestingly at 15st I was a 16. It makes no sense.

That said my 10/12s from years ago are TINY.

Lupyto · 26/05/2022 15:15

Yes my old 10/12s are tiny. Even if I lost weight now I am not sure I would ever fit them again. Really should just charity shop them actually!

Whereas I am under 9 stone and wear a size 10 at 5'7. I just have no waist so can't get smaller sizes to fit around the middle.

Deadivy · 26/05/2022 18:20

5'6 and 11.5 stone ish. Carry it all around my middle, have narrow shoulders, small boobs, thin legs, Tops size 12 bottoms, size 18 trousers. . Have a huge belly that I wish I could get rid of as I'm overweight.

Looneytune253 · 26/05/2022 18:25

5'7 18 stone (😮😮) and size 16. I carry it well but can't lose it lol

Lovinglife45 · 26/05/2022 19:10

Looneytune
You really must carry your weight well to be a size 16 at 18 stone!😱

Artisan
When you say you have no waist, do you mean it is not defined as opposed to it being small?

boredwithfoodprob · 26/05/2022 19:21

I am 5 foot 7 and weigh around 68-70 kg. I’m generally a size 12 or a medium. Sometimes in dresses/tops I’m a size 10 as have a smaller top half. If I want bottoms to be super comfy, say pyjamas I’ll go for a 14.

Looneytune253 · 26/05/2022 20:37

@Lovinglife45 yep I was wearing size 18 earlier on in the year but no weight change and back in 16s. Very muscle heavy I think

umberellaonesie · 26/05/2022 20:40

5'6 and 11 stone size 12
Small waist big hips and boobs.
Ideally I would be 10st 2lbs and size 10

stayathomegardener · 26/05/2022 20:55

@CurlyCew I'm 5'6" about 10st 2
I can wear M and S skinny jeans in a 10 but favourite new dress is a size 20, I wear it belted in. Nice generous sleeves, good length too.

FLOWER1982 · 26/05/2022 21:12

Same as you 5”7 , 11 stone 3, size 14. The slimmest Ive been as an adult, 10-10.5 stone and size 10 or 12.

racquel86 · 26/05/2022 21:14
