My story so far:
I started a thread “Lockdown stones to lose” in early June last year. I had nearly 3 stones to lose and was very determined. At times I did very well and at one point had lost over 1.5 stones.

Loads of people joined and then left and I think only four of us remained at the end. I kept plodding on. Just after Christmas I became ill for seven weeks (Covid related). I couldn’t do much or go out so my weight ballooned. I still kept plodding on. Then one of my dogs suffered an horrendous attack and whilst nursing her I just about lived on chocolate.

So here I am nearly 11 months later, most likely very nearly back to square one. I keep reminding myself that last time I said I would not give up no matter what! Will you join me tomorrow morning? I would love some company.

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl - is there an app that will link to an Apple Watch? DH doesn't like his so I can use it.
I'd like an app that tells me how many calories to aim for and lets me log food (including prepared food like M&S sandwich) as well as logging weight.
I've got MFP but it only seems to let me log kilojoules.
Really I want something that does all the hard work for me Grin

New MN is driving me potty.

extrapineappleonmypizza · 25/04/2022 16:27

@Notonthestairs NutraCheck is really good

Notonthestairs · 25/04/2022 16:36

Thank you extrapineapple - I'll check it out.

Mumstheword2022 · 25/04/2022 17:11

Hey Notonthestairs. Have another look at MFP; it should do calories? Mine gives me a regret of about 1500. I’m on 1000 already sadly but first day back at work and now off to weights class and had to have a snack as I won’t be back until seven 😜

im trying!

FuckingHateRats · 25/04/2022 17:45

Hey everyone!

I was back to school today so back to a semblence of routine and structure.

Had a mango smoothie (creature of habit!!)
Mid morning coffee
Portion of leftover salad from yesterday
Having chicken and rocket risotto this evening.

My S6s also came and surprised me with a truck tonne of cards and chocolate 😬 I have eaten a mini Lindt bunny but that's it. Gave some of the nice biscuits to my study support club so I can't eat them!!

Bjarnum · 25/04/2022 18:17

Oh Dear! Starting yet again tomorrow ...

applesandpears33 · 25/04/2022 18:36

Well, I've not had a good day with food, but listing everything I've eaten does make me realise just how poor my diet is and where I need to improve.

bagel with cheese
2 packets of crips
2 chocolate biscuits
small handful of marshmallows
slice of stollen
Tunnocks teacake

I'll hang my head in shame and try harder tomorrow. 😀

Off to cook dinner now.

applesandpears33 · 25/04/2022 18:37

Oh, I'd forgotten the fruit - one apple and one satsuma also.

VenusStarr · 25/04/2022 18:45

Hi everyone. I've not weighed myself today, I'm too scared. I had a bad day on Friday and it just had a fuck it day, drank half a bottle of wine. The weekend wasn't much better.

I think my metabolism is crap from months of being on steroids. I haven't had a brilliant day with food - wholemeal toast for breakfast and then at lunch I didn't fancy much, so did porridge with dried apricots. I'm going to have mackerel pasta with peas and broccoli.
I have been busy at work (from home) and worked over, but have been out twice for walks. Not at 8000 steps yet though.

DrRamsesEmerson · 25/04/2022 19:20

So far, two small pots of plain yogurt, a pot of mixed berries and a mango. On way home to get something more substantial for supper, and do an exercise DVD if I can find the motivation. I've managed a week so far.

poorpaws · 25/04/2022 19:23

Hi all

Some good results, some not quite so good but tomorrow might be better.

At last I have had a good day (so far).

It's such a good feeling when you get a job done that you really hate. That was me this morning. I absolutely hate sweeping and I swept the steps outside my kitchen door, refreshed the potted plants down the steps. It looks so different and I'm so pleased with myself (no idea why I hate sweeping so much, I don't think I can be very good at it).

Also a long dog walk as planned and the day has gone so quickly. My food was good too but it's the evenings that I find so difficult so I need to keep strong.

I also hate this new Mumsnet format, yesterday it kept throwing me off the site. I am NOT a patient person.

I hope you are all doing ok this evening and good luck for tomorrow.

Hi everyone!

My day has been quite nice (for a Monday)!

Lunch - cucumber, tomatoes, red pepper, sweetcorn, chicken, cheese and coleslaw in Tupperware!

Tea - Gousto’s ‘sweet chilli chicken with veg packed rice’. It says 559kcal per portion but that’s before you add oil to the pan, etc. I dished up a little less than half for myself and more for OH to counter balance!

I drank alcohol on Friday, Saturday and Sunday so I need to stop now and have a run of alcohol free days. I’m drinking OJ with lemonade and ice, instead.

The dog is loving his longer walks!

Really enjoying keeping an eye on the thread - it’s very motivating!

GinnieHempstock · 25/04/2022 19:53

@Notonthestairs on MFP, if you go to your profile, near the bottom of the page has units and one of the things you can change is calories or kjoules.
MFP does also link with an Apple Watch, it can tell you how many calories you have left (I’ve got 215 today. You can also add water and do a quick add for calories, but not a proper meal.
I’ve tried lots of different ones and keep com8ng back to MFP because it has the biggest database of food of them all and usually has the best function for adding recipes.

my day got slightly better, but my teeth hurt, which means I’ve obviously had a stressful day and have been clenching my teeth all day.
I got it wrong, it’s not yoga tonight but strength training. Got home late as my meeting took longer than planned, then needed to go and buy my youngest new trainers as he came home from school with only one and he has PE again tomorrow!
eaten ok.
Late breakfast of vanilla protein shake.
Lunch just an apple and banana due to late breakfast
dinner chicken korma and rice.
215kcals left for chocolate tonight.

Mumstheword2022 · 25/04/2022 20:03

Should say target not regret!

😂

although the former is more appropriate

DrRamsesEmerson · 25/04/2022 20:52

Did my exercise DVD and a reasonably healthy dinner - left over lamb and rice from the weekend, some yogurt and some salad, plus a bit of the nice Greek bread that DD's friend brought us as a present. 1100 calories all in for today. So far so good...

Cailindeas35 · 25/04/2022 21:59

Hi all
I would love to join ye. Ye are really motivating me to get started.
My SW is: 9st2 (I'm 5ft2 )
I would love to get to 8 stone. I walk daily with my 2 dogs and currently I'm trying to get 15k steps done daily. I need to up my movement as I'm not losing anything. I also try to do home weights workout. But I procrastinate mostly with that.
Great to hear how well everyone is doing.

TimeToLose8 · 25/04/2022 22:22

Good evening all. I'm still out of routine, but after a 5am start tomorrow I shall be back home to weigh in,.

It is usually with some trepidation, but my alcohol consumption has plummeted (i can't sleep after much, and when visiting mum in the UK - she has mild dementia, I really need as much sleep as I can get). So minor win there.
I also don't have a car over here, so lots more walking, which is a good thing.
And finally, the mild toothache is developing into something less mild, most food and drink seem to start it off, so that has made me far more mindful of what I am eating, so I look at the food and think 'is it worth setting off the toothache ', and a lot (but not all) of the time ot isn't.
Now to take some paracetamol and try to get some sleep...

Bigbus · 25/04/2022 22:26

I’ve just cooked a two portion Hello Fresh meal and eaten one portion. Posting on here to stop me eating the other one too!

TalkToTheHand123 · 25/04/2022 23:29

Diet fail again? You could say!

Can't stop giggling at the thread title, so true. Hopefully a deep sleep will help me reset.

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 25/04/2022 23:54

Wrote a long message and the MN website gave me the black screen of doom, again AngryAngryAngry

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 25/04/2022 23:55

@Notonthestairs I'd be surprised if the Apple watch doesn't offer a super duper function, even the (basic) Fitbit I have does on its app!

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 25/04/2022 23:56

@TimeToLose8 toothache, OUCH! Can you get to a dentist for some help/ advice before it gets much worse?

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 25/04/2022 23:56

@applesandpears33 I love stollen. And a Tunnocks teacake Blush

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 26/04/2022 00:01

Has anyone seen the iPlayer - Panorama - Obesity: Who Cares if I’m Bigger? Panorama documentary about obesity? I thought it was really interesting, looking at obesity from a mental health point of view rather than saying it's due to laziness/ greed/ poor choices etc, especially at about 20 minutes in where the scientist was saying about how people internalise what they hear about obesity - so for example obese people are less likely to exercise (because fat people are 'lazy'), less likely to resist a cream cake {because fat people 'have no willpower'), that sort of thing. And I suddenly remembered being around 11 or 12, desperately unhappy at both home and school, and yes, having a bit of puppy fat - but my mum making cutting comments about me being more overweight than her (she'd just had a baby!) and how it was no wonder I didn't make more effort in PE/ Games because how could I, with the size of me?! It took me 15 years to even begin to think I could be slim and healthy, and subconsciously I've always had those thoughts since Sad

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 26/04/2022 00:02

Link fail, as per the norm for the new MN!!
