My story so far:
I started a thread “Lockdown stones to lose” in early June last year. I had nearly 3 stones to lose and was very determined. At times I did very well and at one point had lost over 1.5 stones.

Loads of people joined and then left and I think only four of us remained at the end. I kept plodding on. Just after Christmas I became ill for seven weeks (Covid related). I couldn’t do much or go out so my weight ballooned. I still kept plodding on. Then one of my dogs suffered an horrendous attack and whilst nursing her I just about lived on chocolate.

So here I am nearly 11 months later, most likely very nearly back to square one. I keep reminding myself that last time I said I would not give up no matter what! Will you join me tomorrow morning? I would love some company.

I've bought some Sensidine, and I'll phone my dentist when I get home. He's quite good at fitting the toothache patients in at the start of the day, so fingers crossed. I just hope the tooth is saveable, don't want to lose any more.

Up at 5, long journey ahead, I tend not to eat too much anyway. And then a weigh in tomorrow morning. Not too hopeful though.

I was talking to an old friend yesterday, about weight, bodies etc and she asked whether I had noticed how the skin just doesn't attach itself to the body like it used to do! An interesting way of describing a middle aged woman's body, but I know exactly what she means !

Has anyone seen the iPlayer - Panorama - Obesity: Who Cares if I’m Bigger? Panorama documentary about obesity? I thought it was really interesting, looking at obesity from a mental health point of view rather than saying it's due to laziness/ greed/ poor choices etc, especially at about 20 minutes in where the scientist was saying about how people internalise what they hear about obesity - so for example obese people are less likely to exercise (because fat people are 'lazy'), less likely to resist a cream cake {because fat people 'have no willpower'), that sort of thing. And I suddenly remembered being around 11 or 12, desperately unhappy at both home and school, and yes, having a bit of puppy fat - but my mum making cutting comments about me being more overweight than her (she'd just had a baby!) and how it was no wonder I didn't make more effort in PE/ Games because how could I, with the size of me?! It took me 15 years to even begin to think I could be slim and healthy, and subconsciously I've always had those thoughts since Sad

Thanks for sharing. This sounds really interesting. I was talking to a couple of colleagues yesterday about self-esteem (work in mental health) and I suddenly recalled my nan telling me I was just big boned who would look at a cake and put weight on, not like my sister who was like a zip with hollow legs. It was puppy fat and when I was a teenager I actually was quite slim but always perceived myself as fat when I was far from it, looking back.

Morning everyone. Signing in on Day 3! Stayed on track yesterday - low fat yoghurt and fruit for breakfast, tuna and egg salad for lunch and a small portion of pasta for dinner, with 2/3 of my plate salad. I was hungry in the evening so had half an apple and half a carrot with 10g of peanut butter as a snack. I also drank my 2l of water and did the 30 Day Shred again.

A slightly different day today because I’m in work. Goals for today:

  1. Eat breakfast at home rather than grab something on the go (already done - overnight oats with skimmed milk, grated carrot and apple, topped with a spoonful of low fat yoghurt and a couple of walnut pieces).
  2. Limit myself to one skinny flat white (after that, black coffees only) and drink 2l of water - I always find that harder to do at work.
  3. Pick up a healthy lunch and avoid any treats out in the office (there often are!)
  4. Avoid the temptation of the wine aisle on the way home…
No exercise goal today. I’m sore from two days of the Shred and wasn’t motivated to get up even earlier this morning after working until 1am!. I thought if I set an exercise goal and didn’t meet it I would then see the whole day as a “failure” and use that as an excuse to eat badly/have a drink, so I’ve consciously decided to make today a rest day.

I think today is going to be the hardest day so far (out of all three 😀) but I’m feeling positive and determined. Good luck to everyone else today - onwards and downwards!

GoingOnce · 26/04/2022 08:55

Gosh I need to join you. I lost 20lb in summer 2020 and felt so good about myself. I wasn’t very overweight but uncomfortable and those 20lb made a world of difference. I’ve gained and relost quite a few of them over the two years…. Am currently up 8lb (from my low-fat weight I mean) and desperately want to shift them for the summer. I want to throw on summer dresses with abandon and not have to wear spanx or chub rub shorts!

My problem is that when I gain a bit I seem to lose all control and willpower. Conversely, when I’m steadily losing I feel great and am very motivated get the loss. Totally demotivated by the gain though.

I need my mojo!!!!

GinnieHempstock · 26/04/2022 09:07

Morning All. It’s great to read everyone’s posts, because I think everyone says something that resonates, whether they feel like they are on it at the moment or struggling.
I’m in my motivated phase at the moment, but I will try and continue posting when I am struggling as that’s when it all goes to pot otherwise.
I’m wfh today, which is a mixed blessing as I can take the opportunity to walk the dog at lunchtime and do some exercise earlier in the day, hopefully at about 5pm rather than 9pm like yesterday. However, I am doing boring admin work and I eat when I am bored. And because I am at home, I have ready access to lots of calorie dense food.
I will keep on track. Maybe I should hang one of the summer dresses that no longer fit me on the door next to where I work as a visual motivation. Grin
hope everyone’s day is fabulous.

TellMeAboutItStud · 26/04/2022 11:06

I slipped up last night and had a glass of red wine which put me over my calorie limit for the day - but I did decline the accompanying cheese and crackers DH was having so I feel like it wasn’t the total disaster it could have been! I’m counting it as my treat for the week (and therefore declaring today to be a new week 😂)

determined to do better today and off to a good start so far.

breakfast: coffee and some berries
lunch: small portion of last nights kedgeree with a side of salad leaves
dinner: Dahl with mixed vegetables on the side (no rice)

I love being able to come here and confess/update - it keeps me motivated when otherwise I would probably just have thought “sod it, I might as well just go nuts now and have a binge”

Eviebeans · 26/04/2022 15:53

Hi everyone things not going too badly. No particular plan apart from to stay away from crisps and cake. I like that everyone seems to have good and bad days so it doesn't feel so bad admitting to lapses ...

extrapineappleonmypizza · 26/04/2022 16:35

Hello!
I finally stepped on the scales this morning, so I have a number to work with.
It’s not great but I’m sure it would have been worse this time last week!
I’m looking at it pragmatically - today is as bad as it’s going to get. I’m determined. When I go on holiday at the end of May, I will either look the same as I do now or slimmer, I will not look bigger. I can deal with that - I really need this holiday and I refuse to let my weight spoil it for me.
However - my goal is to lose 10 pounds before I go on holiday. After that, I’m sure there’ll be a gain to deal with, so I’ll need to lose that again, and then I want to lose a further 8/9 pounds by the end of July. So that’s a stone and a half in three months.

Maybe it’ll take longer, but I am not going above today’s number again. I will not allow Covid to leave its legacy on my body!

PizzaPartyForOne · 26/04/2022 16:50

I weighed in yesterday and had a small loss so that is motivating! Feeling very fed up today though and just want to eat my feelings, this thread is helping me to stay on track!
Well done to everyone who weighed in and lost :)

YorkshireLawyer · 26/04/2022 17:13

That’s a great positive attitude pineapple!

I’m heading home from work and feeling proud of myself. I was tempted to give in to temptation a few times today but haven’t and that feels good. Obviously the evening is still to come, but I think if I was going to slip up it would have been whilst in work so I’m hopeful it’ll be another successful day.

All of today’s mini goals met except the water, but I’ve had 1.5 litres so will easily make it to 2 litres by the end of the day. Lunch was a Pret salmon protein box with smoked salmon, egg and avocado. Quite calorie dense but I only had half the dressing and was hungry so it stopped me reaching for the biscuits later in the afternoon. At least it was nutritious as well and not just cake calories!

Dinner tonight is veggie udon noodles as long as my veg box has been delivered. I’m going to make an extra portion to have Thursday evening when DH is out - that would be when I usually reach for the takeaway and wine, so hopefully having a meal ready in the fridge will keep me on track.

Hope everyone else is having a good day.

poorpaws · 26/04/2022 17:51

I'm so pleased to hear that a lot of you are enjoying this thread, I am too.

I've had a lovely day today, we've been out to the moors all day with the dogs. I tried very hard to do damage limitation at lunchtime but ended up eating a ham Ploughman's with a side of chips (we shared the chips but I now regret having them). On the plus side I refused an ice cream which I really wanted and I've done over 19,000 steps so I think my day could have been worse. I've got to go food shopping tonight so my step count should be very high by this evening.

I will try hard for the rest of the week to make up for the quite calorific lunch. I am determined to lose something this week.

It sounds as if we are all quite positive, early days I know, but we've all made a good start so well done 👏

Afternoon, reporting in. Had a day off work yesterday and got out and did 3rd couch to 5k then started tidying around and was up down up down so really did think I would have burnt off something on the scales. I ate well yesterday and I stayed the same weight this morning well tell a lie lost a smidgen better than nothing I suppose. Work today and on work days I just stick to two meals. Breakfast and evening meal and hot water for drinks until I get home then enjoy a cuppa but have gone for a hot chocolate. Fingers crossed the scales show more of a difference tomorrow.

applesandpears33 · 26/04/2022 18:46

I did slightly better than yesterday, but not much. Today I've had a slice of toast and butter, 2 packets of crisps, and one fun size chocolate bar. Now going to make a salad for tea. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that my food intake has been so bad over the last few months that even with chocolate and crisps I'll have eaten less calories than normal.

applesandpears33 · 26/04/2022 18:47

Oh and a bowl of parsnip soup for lunch too.

Wheresmywoolyjumpers · 26/04/2022 19:34

I am starving today - had lost at my weekend weigh in, 2.5 pounds, so pleased about that. I am tired today, so maybe that is it, but what fills me on other days is not touching the sides today. Going to have a yogurt and see if that does it for me. And maybe go to bed very early. I did a shake for breakfast so maybe that is it too. I have a lot to lose - at least 5 stone - so need to keep motivated.

GinnieHempstock · 26/04/2022 19:47

@Wheresmywoolyjumpers are you in too much of a deficit? Maybe you need to eat a bit more to make it sustainable. Tiredness also makes me hungry, but being hungry makes me tired, so it can be a chicken and egg situation sometimes.

I’ve had a good day. Mexican chilli thing for lunch and sausage pasta bake for dinner, plus had some of the lemon meringue cake I made as no one else seems to like it. 😮😀
Did a 45 minute dog walk and 45 minute yoga session, so feeling relatively de-stressed and still have 200 kcals left for emergency chocolate later if necessary.

Stay strong everyone, we can do this. Flowers

extrapineappleonmypizza · 26/04/2022 19:53

Lunch - tin of soup - 200kcal but soooo boring. Need to get organised tonight and make a salad or something to take to work tomorrow
Tea - Gousto’s ‘Hot and Sour Prawn Stir Fry’ 331kcal. I added a red pepper. It was too hot and sour for me!! 🥵
I’m on the OJ and lemonade again, trying to avoid wine.

Wheresmywoolyjumpers · 26/04/2022 20:28

Thanks @GinnieHempstock - those are all good points. I find that I have random days when I just feel super hungry. I do think missing my usual breakfast (sugar free museli, skimmed milk, fruit, yogurt) did not do me any favours today. Wonder if it sets me up for being hungry for the rest of the day.

Queeniewag · 26/04/2022 21:05

So started again today after detailed at weekend starting with a play date on Friday that involved several bottles prosecco and then crisps and then pizzas etc etc. same every week for me. Good all week and then derail at weekends with social outings! Don’t know how I can break this cycle but I must. Well done everyone who is losing!!! Hope I can join you soon I need to lose two stone by august!! God knows how.

DrRamsesEmerson · 26/04/2022 22:01

Not a great day, I had to work late so no exercise DVD. Chicken salad sandwich and some grapes for lunch, chicken, rice and tomatoes for supper. Then I ate DD’s Haribo. I’m not much over my calorie limit but I’m cross with myself.

Notonthestairs · 26/04/2022 22:11

@GinnieHempstock - thanks so much for the steer over MFP and Apple Watch - I think I've synced them so I'm feeling very pleased with myself.

Breakfast - 3 oatcakes and Okyos yoghurt
Lunch - Tuna and sweetcorn salad.
Dinner -chilli and rice.
Snack...2 thortons chocolates Blush

Not too bad and I've reduced my snacks and upped my water.

chubbachub · 26/04/2022 22:26

I haven't left thread but for some reason whenever I scroll to read the posts on my phone I get to a specific one and the entire app crashes. Only a specific post on this thread. Not sure why so apologies for being rude and not rtft but I am still here. Weighed in this morning and lost 4lbs. Will keep trying to access the thread properly

Theredjellybean · 26/04/2022 23:45

I hadn't left either but new look site kept un logging me every time I tried to post.
I've lost 1.5kgs
Very pleased, but quite hungry.
Work dinner yesterday and had half bottle of wine... Oops

Mumstheword2022 · 27/04/2022 06:39

Hey all. Just also getting used to this site. Seems you have to start at the beginning again and then go to the last post?

I’ll work it out.

anyway, been ok. Not fab but ok. Need to wind it back a bit with the food still but managed to do kettlebells on Monday night after a long day and had a rest day today-well marked exam papers until ten- but will be ready for weights on Thursday.

feel a bit swollen and wonder if it because I’m back on normal milk? At home we have lactose free milk for hubby’s skin issues so I have had that exclusively for two weeks. Maybe I’m now intolerant! Goodness knows

will maybe weight in tomorrow but otherwise plan to do it Monday mornings.

nice to see others doing well. 4lbs is amazing Chub!

TimeToLose8 · 27/04/2022 07:16

Perhaps I should change my user name LoseWeightWithToothache! Although I have actually gained weight since my last weighing.
Still back home now so I can start normal life again.
Salad for lunch and chilli for dinner. No snacks and biscuits and I definitely won't buy any cakes from the market today. But what to do with that bottle of wine in the fridge?
