My story so far:
I started a thread “Lockdown stones to lose” in early June last year. I had nearly 3 stones to lose and was very determined. At times I did very well and at one point had lost over 1.5 stones.

Loads of people joined and then left and I think only four of us remained at the end. I kept plodding on. Just after Christmas I became ill for seven weeks (Covid related). I couldn’t do much or go out so my weight ballooned. I still kept plodding on. Then one of my dogs suffered an horrendous attack and whilst nursing her I just about lived on chocolate.

So here I am nearly 11 months later, most likely very nearly back to square one. I keep reminding myself that last time I said I would not give up no matter what! Will you join me tomorrow morning? I would love some company.

This weekend is going to be about damage limitation, I think. We’ve got a few things to go to and food will feature heavily. I will avoid birthday cakes, etc. but probably won’t have much choice over what is served for the meals.
We’re eating out tomorrow evening at a local restaurant - I’m going to have a look over the menu later today.
Today’s lunch is being delivered - I’ve ordered a club sandwich. Hopefully it’ll be a sensible choice, without too much Mayo.

This is when it gets tough - I’ve only lost 3lbs so far and I’ve got a horrible feeling it’ll all go back on 🤦‍♀️

TimeToLose8 · 30/04/2022 13:44

@H1Drangea, so sorry to hear about the VandD, what a way to kick-start the diet. Every cloud though...

As for the wine, well, I am like you, I can't stop at one glass but more than 2 and I have a rubbish night's sleep. Like last night. I start the day thinking 'won't have any today' but at the end I think 'sod it, I've worked hard enough, I deserve a glass'. Oh well, I dont have any open bottles left, and only expensive ones in the cupboard, so I'll try perrier with a slice of lemon.

Lots of exercise today in the garden, pushing the * mower that is supposed to have some form of propelling assistance, its obviously broken, but has to go on the list of things to fix.

Time for a break. Good luck everyone

extrapineappleonmypizza · 30/04/2022 18:21

I went to McD’s this afternoon and nursed a white coffee, for what felt like a lifetime, while everyone else ate 🏅Not a single chip! 😂

Thelongdarkteatime · 30/04/2022 19:46

A reasonable day for me today given it is a bank holiday weekend. Went to spinning class this morning, managed a salad for lunch and will be having tofu ramen for dinner.

However, a G and T is on the horizon and some rice pudding so will end up over my daily calories. I’m justifying it as a treat day (my first in three weeks) and am recording it on mfp so I don’t go overboard.

triplecheeese · 30/04/2022 19:51

Hello everyone, thanks for the encouragement and sorry about your V&D @H1Drangea! I had it in December and felt wiped out for ages.

i hear you @TimeToLose8, the "I deserve this" urge for a wine kicks in hard about 5pm!

Had a lovely non scale victory today - I ran under 30 mins at parkrun for the first time since covid ❤I can only run once a week and that's usually huffing and puffing pushing the double buggy with two squalling kids in it so when I got the chance to run sans buggy I jumped at it. So buggy must be making me fitter 🎉

I did go out for afternoon tea for a friend's birthday though. The cakes were small but there was a lot of them! Swings and roundabouts...

triplecheeese · 30/04/2022 19:53

oh and @extrapineappleonmypizza well done on the McD's, I must say it wouldn't even occur to me to not eat and just grumble about it later 😂

Bigbus · 30/04/2022 21:07

This weekend is definitely damage limitation. I think I’ve done ok, I’m about 400 calories over my requirements but that’s considerably better than my usual weekend antics. I think I’m going to go to bed so I can’t eat anymore!

Eviebeans · 01/05/2022 06:45

Morning. Hope you're all okay.
Have just eaten porridge and raspberries for breakfast. This is definitely the meal where I am most in control lol.

TimeToLose8 · 01/05/2022 06:50

Morning all, down 0.6, still a long way to go, though as I'm trying to be slow and steady, otherwise I'll get fed up and stop.

@triplecheeese I managed to avoid the wine cupboard, for once. I did look inside, though but fortunately didn't find anything too appealing!

Another day in the garden beckons, I was just planning to wield the strimmer, then remembered it's Sunday, so perhaps not. Still, I have a compost pit to dig!

Have a great Bank Holiday weekend everyone (too much temptation I know). Fortunately it's very quiet for me, unfortunately later on this week it won't be, so I shall take my wins whenever I can.

poorpaws · 01/05/2022 08:15

Oh goodness I've just typed a long post and lost it. I'll try again.

Good morning everyone and welcome to newcomers.

I did the shopped until I dropped thing yesterday and had a lovely time. Unfortunately this did include a very calorific lunch and dinner.

All was going very well as I tried on skirts and tops for the summer, until I peered into the large three floor-to-ceiling mirrors. Something horrific revealed itself to me, I have a fat back! I didn't know I had a fat back, I don't have floor to ceiling mirrors and I don't even look at my back so I had no idea, it is quite revolting.

Safe to say I am back on plan now and I've got a lot of catching up to do. Luckily we have nothing planned for the bank holiday so hopefully I can keep on the right track. I might not even weigh-in tomorrow because I think the results will be quite horrible and it might put me into full eating mode. I have to catch-up now.

You all seem to be doing so well, you are a credit to this thread.

Damage limitation here too. Had a pizza night, instead of sharing a large, meat loaded feast I had a small, with veg not meat, and ate 4 out of 6 slices. So "only" 840 calories... but it could have been 1300... and I really enjoyed those calories!

MIL (with dementia, so we tend to indulge her on her visits to us) has asked for sausage casserole today... so precooking sausages to get rid of fat. Using chicken ones instead of pork and loading it with veg.

Just starting to work out how to incorporate my needs into joint meals.

GinnieHempstock · 01/05/2022 08:55

Morning all.
Well done on the McDs trip @extrapineappleonmypizza.
@BeyondMyWits I have 3 children, teenagers/ young adult so am always doing joint meals for the five of us. I manage by eating lightly during the day and ensuring I have 6-700 kcals left for dinner. I do portion control and extra veg/ salad. If we have curry, for example, I’ll skip the naan. It works for me.

Enjoyed my domino’s yesterday - four slices of large veggie plus the garlic dip. 977 kcals. 😮But I remained in my calorie allowance (just) and weight is down by 0.2lbs today, so I’m calling that a win.

Going to have a fairly lazy today, but will do a workout, maybe rowing.
Roast beef for dinner, so need to go easy on the Yorkshires. Then I’m making tiramisu for pudding. I haven’t worked out the calories yet, so I don’t know if I’ll be able to have more than a spoonful. 😀

extrapineappleonmypizza · 01/05/2022 09:04

Morning all - I may have been virtuous in McD’s but it went a bit downhill after that!

I made a prawn cocktail type salad with homemade Marie-rose sauce (low fat Mayo), later I had about half of a frozen pizza. I’m guessing half because my daughter had a quarter, so there were three quarters left. I bit the middles out and the dog ate the edges. I’m guessing this amounted to about a quarter.

It’s all a bit patchy because a lot of Prosecco was consumed with a friend.

I’ve woken up this morning and there’s an empty plate on the floor and an undrunk cup of tea on my bedside table.
I have no idea what was on the plate. Could have been anything - massive fail!!! 🤦‍♀️

Midnightstar76 · 01/05/2022 09:41

Morning,
well shocked this morning. I think I ate badly yesterday as visited DS and had in addition to my normal cereal two rounds of toast, a burger with cheese, polished off the rest of the bottle of wine , half a bottle, had a chocolate Kit Kat bunny, admittedly did not feel hungry later on much and just had a naked noodle snack pot then two bowls of rice crispies. I did do a run from couch to 5k yesterday and mowed our back lawn so that may account for it but I have lost and now 11.1 and a half!!! Really felt rubbish and thought I had gained more than I had lost and then some. Terrible eating habits though but blimey pleased with a loss.

triplecheeese · 01/05/2022 10:22

@poorpaws i have a fat back and also had a horrified mirror revelation! I felt so self conscious but told myself that as everyone else in my life sees it and no one else has gasped or fainted, it must just look like a normal back to them ... unless everyone knows me as Triplecheeese Backboobs. Anyhoo just to send solidarity - my bra strap area is the first place I show and the last place to go.

No exercise for me today, legs are sore after yesterday's parkrun. So just chasing children round the park.

Happy Sundays everyone.

triplecheeese · 01/05/2022 10:51

@BeyondMyWits family meals are my big challenge. I've got two very young DCs and I want us all to eat together and learn good habits, but with the baby, cooking is a challenge. DH is just like me in seeing food as a reward (and relying on sugar to keep going) but he's not ready to change. So I'm taking it a week at a time and just trying to change small things.

Tacos and fajitas have been good family meals this week - we can eat at the table together and help ourselves to what we want. Lentil bolognaise was roundly rejected 😂

ClinkeyMonkey · 01/05/2022 11:41

Try having a fat back and a square arse! I think my 9yo watches SpongeBob SquarePants because he thinks his mum is famous.

Anyway, Saturday is always a bit doomed for me. All good until my glass of wine lowered the resolve and, well, carnage ensued. Carnage in the form of a Mars Bar Rice Krispie bun (plus all the edge bits I cut off to 'neaten them up'), a packet of crisps and a Joker (ice cream lolly I've loved since childhood). I think there may have been more, but I've blocked it out.

I'm determined to do better today, especially as I've been watching 'The Split' on BBC iPlayer and everyone on there just looks so trim and beautiful in their sharp suits and dresses. I am using it as my inspiration.

FuckingHateRats · 01/05/2022 12:47

I'm still here but have had a weird week where I thought my period has arrived a week early but then it vanished, and now it's maybe starting again and maybe not.

Not stepping on the scales until it's been and gone as I feel quite bloated and water heavy and a bad weigh in may provoke a 'fuck it' moment of binging and regret.

extrapineappleonmypizza · 01/05/2022 17:00

Quiet on here again today…
So far I’ve had two cups of tea, an OJ with lemonade and a smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel.
I’m so hungry. We’re eating out tonight so I need to reserve as many calories as possible. I think I might choose a roast and not eat all the potatoes, Yorkshire pud, etc.
I’ll check back in later.

DrRamsesEmerson · 01/05/2022 18:17

I have a fat back, I spend a lot of time trying to get my bra to sit so it doesn’t give me unappealing wodges of podge on each side.

I roasted a chicken for our lunch, followed by a mango fool - basically I can’t eat any more today because I’ve had my entire calorie allowance. It was a good lunch, though!

GinnieHempstock · 01/05/2022 19:06

Better a fat back than a poorly fitting bra giving quadruple boobs. Or at least that’s what I tell myself. 😀
Had roast beef with all the trimmings followed by a proper serving of tiramisu. (600 kcal just for the tiramisu 😲)
I’ve set my calories to maintenance today and haven’t gone over, so shouldn’t put weight on. 🤞
Back to a deficit tomorrow.

extrapineappleonmypizza · 01/05/2022 19:50

I had roast beef when we were out. I didn’t touch the Yorkshire or the parsnips but I did have two of the roast potatoes.
No starter, no pud, drank lemonade with lime. 😇
Home now and going to have some wine.

GinnieHempstock · 01/05/2022 20:11

@extrapineappleonmypizza well done, much more restrained than me. You definitely deserve the 😇

Eviebeans · 01/05/2022 20:35

Hi everyone good for most of the day
took grandkids out to the park, had a great time,
then caved and had a doner wrap this evening. It was lovely. Have also munched a couple of mini lindt bunnies. Oh dear...

extrapineappleonmypizza · 01/05/2022 20:37

@GinnieHempstock It was a massive portion - what I ate completely filled me. We were going to share some desserts but no one had any room left!

I actually don’t think I’m losing anything, though. My clothes still feel tight!
I’ve got just over four weeks until we go on holiday 😬
It’s the wine calories that get me - I need to knock it on the head.

Out for lunch tomorrow at a relative’s so no control over what’s dished up. They’ll be birthday cake but I’ll be able to avoid, or just have a taste.
We’re going to have a light tea - probably chicken and avocado salad or something. I’ll prep a salad to take to work on Tuesday as well.

Happy Bank Holiday!
