My story so far:
I started a thread “Lockdown stones to lose” in early June last year. I had nearly 3 stones to lose and was very determined. At times I did very well and at one point had lost over 1.5 stones.

Loads of people joined and then left and I think only four of us remained at the end. I kept plodding on. Just after Christmas I became ill for seven weeks (Covid related). I couldn’t do much or go out so my weight ballooned. I still kept plodding on. Then one of my dogs suffered an horrendous attack and whilst nursing her I just about lived on chocolate.

So here I am nearly 11 months later, most likely very nearly back to square one. I keep reminding myself that last time I said I would not give up no matter what! Will you join me tomorrow morning? I would love some company.

I also have lemon and ginger tea, and a "berry" tea although that is sweet and I find it best to avoid sweet things as once I start I just can't stop

ClinkeyMonkey · 29/04/2022 11:31

Good morning, I just dropped a big bottle of shower gel onto my face, trying to get it off a high shelf. My lip is up like a golf ball. Thinking to myself - will this mean I eat less due to pain in said lip, or more due to urgent need for comfort!

Disclaimer: only I could do this. My head is permanently full of sweetie mice (as they say around these parts)

Otherwise, all going well here. I did some interval running this morning and have managed to steer clear of biscuits and cake for four days now. I think I'll do Monday weigh-ins. There is wine in the house though and it's Friday - and that never goes well

Late Lunch - salad with ham, cheese and coleslaw. I toasted a piece of bread and cut it into lots of little squares to resemble croutons.

Nearly the weekend!

avalonn · 29/04/2022 14:19

@ClinkeyMonkey your poor face! That sounds awful.

GinnieHempstock · 29/04/2022 14:50

Unexpectedly finished work early today, which is a pleasant surprise.
had a late lunch of Mexican chilli and raspberries/blueberries. Meatballs and spaghetti for dinner.
Vegging on the sofa at the moment, but planning to walk the dog then do a rowing work out.

I have lost 2.4lbs this week, so very pleased. Just over 7lbs in total:
SW: 174.2
CW: 166.4
TW: 137-140

I like fennel tea, that seems to take the edge off for me.

Well done to you losers and keep at it for those who are struggling Flowers

Bigbus · 29/04/2022 14:51

@FatGirlTriesAgain2022 i love your user name! That’s me too! I don’t think anyone believes me anymore when I tell them I’m going to lose weight but this time I’ll show them! (I hope!).

ClinkeyMonkey · 29/04/2022 15:13

@avalonn Thanks! DP says I look like Marge Simpson from the side. Loads of sympathy🤣

DaisyQuakeJohnson · 29/04/2022 16:43

I'm hovering around this thread trying to get up the motivation to do this again. Finally started yesterday - logging with MFP and cutting calories.

BeyondMyWits · 29/04/2022 17:15

Fishcakes and broccoli for tea today. Had some leftover mash, so baked some salmon in the oven and mixed them together. Trouble is the mash was a bit sloppy, so they look more like fishy potato cakes... I'm sure they'll taste nice though.😁

extrapineappleonmypizza · 29/04/2022 17:20

I’m at a Hungry Horse with children who are ordering massive burgers! Everything on the menu is about a billion calories! I’ve decided to eat at home later, but I am treating myself to a summery drink!

Edit - two drinks 😬😅

DrRamsesEmerson · 29/04/2022 19:02

Been good today so far (2 eggs and some tomatoes for lunch, and a lot of coffee), but DD has a friend over and we've ordered Chinese takeaway. I'm just planning to eat very small portions, and I've got a reasonable number of calories for dinner.

triplecheeese · 29/04/2022 21:55

Hello everyone, I've found myself coming back to this thread a couple of times encouraged by all your stories! So I'd like to check in too. I'm 9 months post my second baby and have a stone to lose.

Its not so much the number for me as it is regaining a bit of control. I have had a bumpy year with baby's health, caring for my mum after an accident, family & friend problems, job losses, plus pandemic etc etc etc... so I've got to a place where food is one of the few things I can "rely" on, so I'm reaching for the chocolate/takeaways/wine constantly.

Plan is:

  1. introduce more exercise (I currently work out twice a week, try to get to 3x)
  2. cook family meals more often (try to stick to 1 takeaway a week)
  3. not to beat myself up if 1 & 2 don't work every week...
DrRamsesEmerson · 29/04/2022 22:11

Fail this evening. The Chinese takeaway didn’t turn up and by the time the replacement Indian takeaway came I was starving and ate far too much- tandoori chicken and lamb, a naan, chickpea salad and, worse, some chips that DD had ordered. Plus two glasses of wine. So today is not good- I haven’t added up the calories but can safely reckon it was more than I should have had. I did do my exercise DVD this morning, though.

extrapineappleonmypizza · 29/04/2022 22:11

Welcome @triplecheeese !
It’s gone a bit quiet on here tonight… hope everyone’s having a good Friday evening.

This evening, I’ve had half a supermarket frozen pizza (350kcal) with salad, seafood sticks and seafood sauce.
Also… a bottle of wine. 🤦‍♀️
I’m sitting by myself, binge watching the 4-part thing about the man in the canoe who faked his own death.

Ready for bed TBH.

Bigbus · 30/04/2022 00:18

I went out for a work colleague’s leaving drinks and had a few glasses of wine but resisted the pizza so I’ll call that a win. I do feel more motivated than usual. I want to get to the 1 stone off make where people start to notice but I’m not going to avoid real life like I did before when I lost loads because it’s not sustainable.

good luck everyone with the long weekend

CanadianJohn · 30/04/2022 03:24

I wasn't great on food today, and barely exercised either. My back was killing me.

I had my lumbar spine MRI today, 30 minutes to drive. to the hospital, 90 minute wait, 20 minute procedure, 30 minutes to drive home. No cost to the patient here in Canada (in the US a lumbar MRI can cost up to $2,000).

Mind you, I think the hospital makes a bundle on the parking charges.

TimeToLose8 · 30/04/2022 06:55

Good morning all. Daily weigh-in showed no loss/gain, which is not too depressing, as last night, again, my willpower let me down.

One of the things I am trying to do is cut down on my wine consumption. I do love wine, but ..
So yesterday morning I left enough for one glass in the bottle, and froze the rest into little jars, for sauces etc. All good.

Last night, I drank the one glass, and then defrosted one of the jars. Best laid plans. At least I didn't defrost both of them!

Eviebeans · 30/04/2022 07:26

Morning everyone. Hope you're all okay.
I am trying so hard to eat food that is healthier and less cake and crisps. I am not sure if this is leading to weight loss atm but it is making me feel better in myself I think. Have acknowledged that we will be eating take away tonight as having work/repairs done on house today - unplanned but necessary - so will try to plan the rest of the days eating to compensate for that ... Good luck ever6

H1Drangea · 30/04/2022 07:31

Weighed in this morning , and I’ve lost 5 lbs !
that’s in about 10 days though , and partly due to a brief and unpleasant bout of D&V early Friday morning
I spent most of yesterday in bed , I got up to start the day , as I’m never ill and thought I’d just get on with it , but hanging washing on the line wore me out and I slept from 10am to 1 , then from 2 til about 5 and still was exhausted so went to bed for the night at 9pm
My mum used to say sometimes being ill is your bodies way of making you have a day off , maybe she was right
My plan for today is go to Tesco , as I usually go on a Friday , and DH had to freezer dive for his dinner last night ( I had dry toast and lots of water , he had chicken Kiev and chips , and some red wine )
@TimeToLose8 my downfall is wine too , I’ve tried buying small bottles , expensive bottles , the only way for me is just not have any , I can’t just drink one glass full

DrRamsesEmerson · 30/04/2022 07:59

Wow, well done H1Drangea!

Weigh in day here. 8 st 6 lb (SW 8st 9 lb, GW 8 st). Lost 2 lb since last week, so happy with that. I’m aiming to have lost the weight by the end of May, which is now definitely achievable if I just stick to the diet, so that’s an incentive to be disciplined over the long weekend.

GinnieHempstock · 30/04/2022 08:45

Morning All. Good to se we are still getting new people.
Well done to the losers, even if it did take a bout of D&V @H1Drangea. Grin Hope you are feeling better now.

I tend to have an active day on Saturdays, house cleaning followed by a nice long walk with DH and the dog. And we always have Domino’s on a Saturday evening, my children would riot if we didn’t, but it’s all accounted for. I’ll weigh more tomorrow but not because of the calories. I suspect it’s because of the salt, but it’s usually gone again by Monday.

I didn’t do my rowing work out yesterday as I wasn’t in the mood, but I did a dancing work out instead. I think it’s fair to say that my Co-ordination leaves a lot to be desired. At least I was doing it in the living room, so no one could see me.

Lovely blue skies here which always lifts my spirits.
Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Midnightstar76 · 30/04/2022 09:02

Morning , lost a smidgen this morning and 11.2 bang on although I think likely to gain slightly over this weekend. However really hope to stick within the 11.2 range and aim for 11.1 by the end of next week. I succumbed and treated myself to a bottle of rose but just had the one glass last night with the aim to have the rest spread out over the weekend. Happy weekend all. P.s I think this is the longest I have ever stuck to a diet thread and to add I got out and did week 2 run 1 of couch to 5k this morning so pleased with myself for that.

ClinkeyMonkey · 30/04/2022 10:40

@H1Drangea sorry you were ill, but great weight loss. I know this sounds awful, but having the flu about 4 years ago was my kickstart to being more sensible with food. Although I felt wretched after being ill, I quite liked the feeling of being lighter and also thought my body could do with some decent nourishment instead of cake. Mind you, clearly it didn't last, as here I am now!

@CanadianJohn my DP has a bad back. Sometimes the most seemingly innocuous movement puts it out for weeks. I have every sympathy for you. And it's really hard to wilfully avoid all the food that would help make you feel better when you're in pain.

@Midnightstar76 well done on the Couch to 5k. I did it at the tail end of 2020 and discovered for the first time that it was possible to like exercise. I'm still running 3 times week, although Covid left me fatigued back in January and I'm only starting to manage full runs again now.

Bank holiday weekend and we usually try to get out for a couple of decent walks, but DS1 injured his ankle last week and is in a walking boot. And it's raining today. Any excuse! We're having homemade pizza tonight and I'm pretty sure I burn off any potential calories rolling out the doughGrin

Hope everyone has a good weekend.
