My story so far:
I started a thread “Lockdown stones to lose” in early June last year. I had nearly 3 stones to lose and was very determined. At times I did very well and at one point had lost over 1.5 stones.

Loads of people joined and then left and I think only four of us remained at the end. I kept plodding on. Just after Christmas I became ill for seven weeks (Covid related). I couldn’t do much or go out so my weight ballooned. I still kept plodding on. Then one of my dogs suffered an horrendous attack and whilst nursing her I just about lived on chocolate.

So here I am nearly 11 months later, most likely very nearly back to square one. I keep reminding myself that last time I said I would not give up no matter what! Will you join me tomorrow morning? I would love some company.

Today was again damage limitation but I’m still recording everything so I know how much I’ve had and I would definitely have had more of u wasn’t thinking properly. I expect a small gain tomorrow (I weigh everyday) but I’ll be back on it!

Eviebeans · 02/05/2022 05:32

Yesterday ended up not being a great day. On the one hand had an interesting day and a lot of fun. On the other hand lunch was delayed and so by the time I did eat I was really hungry and ready to demolish almost anything. 😅

TimeToLose8 · 02/05/2022 06:51

Good morning everyone. Morning weight no change. Which is fine, better than not going up anyway.

Today is going to be less active, which is a shame. But, no snacks nor alcohol. Onward and upwards

@ClinkeyMonkey I started watching the show yesterday, loving the drama and the fashion, but I always remember the film 'Notting Hill' when the actress character played by Julia Roberts said that she spent her adult life constantly hungry.

Morning everyone on this rainy bank holiday morning

I'm going to try and start again today, I'd like to be full of enthusiasm but I'm not (probably due to it raining here again). I've said before my mood changes dramatically with the weather but apparently next week will be much warmer.

@ClinkeyMonkey I've started watching The Split again. Because of my awful memory I'm having to watch series 2 through to catch up to watch series 3. As the drama unfolds I remember it but I know if I watch series 3 without catching up I would be lost. It takes me back to the time I was very much slimmer and wore smart suits for work, how times change! I live in jeans and T-shirts now.

I've no idea what is going to happen today apart from a dog walk in the rain (which I hate) and probably some housework (which I hate even more). I realise this is not a very uplifting post 😀. I'm sure my mood will lift after a second coffee.

I hope you all have a lovely Bank Holiday whatever you are doing.

Morning,
I have put on a pound, as had a lovely egg mayo sandwich, salad with dressing and crisps and bit of chocolate brownie and a small bit of almond slice. We paid a visit to a local garden centre cafe and thought we would treat ourselves. I just had cereal later on so can see exactly how the pound has crept on. Happy Monday all.

GinnieHempstock · 02/05/2022 08:43

Morning all.
Isn’t it traditional for it to rain on a BH @poorpaws? Saying that, grey but dry here. Hope your day feels brighter after the second coffee. I always need two to feel vaguely human.
DH is off to London today to set up a stall for a trade show. So it’s just me, the teenagers (who will only leave their rooms for food) and the dog. Guess it’s me and the dog then. 😀
Dog walk this morning, then some strength training later. That’s it for activity for me today. Going to make garlic focaccia later and do a big salad with help yourself bits e.g. hard boiled eggs, meats, bean salad, tuna, sausage rolls. The children like this type of dinner, plus easy for me to make good choices.

Any recommendations for a good film to watch this afternoon? I think I deserve a bit of lazy me time.

hope everyone has a good day, including some damage limitation where necessary. Today is a shiny new day. Flowers

ClinkeyMonkey · 02/05/2022 08:56

Morning all, I have remained at 11st 8lb. I'm not entirely surprised as I wasn't particularly careful at the weekend. I wish I could get out of the mindset that weekends are for treats. I suppose there's a bit more sitting about and boredom sets in, especially in the evenings.

@poorpaws I hate dreary days too. Everything feels like more of an effort. We get more than our fair share of them in NI - particularly those overcast days where the air is wet even when it isn't raining. Today is one of those! I'm going to attempt a run. At least there won't be too many people about!

Bigbus · 02/05/2022 09:26

My weekend ‘damage limitation’ has led to a nearly 2lb gain which I think is entirely fair. It’s terrifying how much I could have gained if I’d just gone all out. Anyway, back to the grind stone. I really really want to lose some weight this time, I’m still 5lb down from when I started and I’m going to get that 2lbs back off and more.

Eviebeans · 02/05/2022 09:42

Is everyone else factoring in exercise atm? I don't do much at all apart from walking

extrapineappleonmypizza · 02/05/2022 09:55

Morning everyone - I’m not weighing myself - it’ll only be bad news! I’ll do it tomorrow morning.

ClinkeyMonkey · 02/05/2022 10:10

So much for the run. Both my sports bras were in the laundry basket (now in washing machine) so it's going to be a long walk instead ... at some point!

gonelululemoncrazy · 02/05/2022 10:16

Morning all. Managed to lose 1lb this week, which I'm putting down to my superhuman effort to avoid wine for the past seven days!

@GinnieHempstock not sure what type of films you are in to, but I found 'The Bubble' really funny, enjoyed the new version of 'Death on the Nile' and really loved 'Weet Side Story'; but would avoid 'The Batman' - my sons wanted to watch it last night, was the most boring long winded film I've seen in a long time (which is saying a lot given that I've had to sit through every Marvel film for the last 10 years.

Thelongdarkteatime · 02/05/2022 10:51

I’m having a wobble today. Had a great weekend, ate sensibly, did a run and felt good.

Today dh is poorly, the kids are not getting on, I have to face soft play with all three of them (my least favourite bank holiday activity) and I just want to eat all the chocolate in the world. (And I am aware that was a self pitying whinge- apologies)

ClinkeyMonkey · 02/05/2022 12:01

This is the best place for a whinge @Thelongdarkteatime. I'm so relieved my children are past the soft play stage, but find the job of trying to trail them out of the house for any activity at all these days absolutely joy sapping.

CanadianJohn · 02/05/2022 13:24

Not a great weekend on food, and virtually no exercise either. At least I didn't gain anything, but it would be nice to see some sort of loss.

Apr 18 ... 12.10 (178 lbs)
Apr 25 ... 12.9 (177 lbs)
May 2 ... 12.9 (177 lbs)
Goal: 10.10 (150 lbs).

Bjarnum · 02/05/2022 13:41

Still floundering ....

extrapineappleonmypizza · 02/05/2022 17:55

Lunch - quiche, coleslaw, salad, cherry tomatoes, couscous, etc.

Didn't have pudding (trifle). Did have a taste of cake (to be polite).

Many cups of tea and a bit of cava.

Not sure what to have for tea now. Cold stuff for lunch so fancy something hot. We were going to have a chicken and avocado salad but I don't think it'll hit the spot.

We're all really tired.
Will weigh tomorrow but I don't think it'll be good news.

GinnieHempstock · 02/05/2022 19:38

Thanks @gonelululemoncrazy I’d forgotten about Death on the Nile, been meaning to watch it for a while. That’s my evening sorted. Grin
Had a good day, Long dog walk and pottering around at home. Not sure where the time has gone.
Had a very filling salad 800 kcals with the focaccia, 600 without. I’m stuffed now.

Sorry so many are struggling. @Bjarnum can we help? In what way are you floundering? Try and keep posting, because I do think that’ll help. Flowers

DrRamsesEmerson · 02/05/2022 20:04

Out to dinner tonight. So moules frites and a glass of wine. I won't lose, but I haven't eaten very much else today so hope I won't gain either!

extrapineappleonmypizza · 02/05/2022 20:20

@DrRamsesEmerson Moules😋😋

Chicken Pad Thai (takeaway) for me. Whoops!

extrapineappleonmypizza · 02/05/2022 20:44

Putting myself to bed - OH is watching Batman and I don't see how I can get through three hours of it! I'm already bored and confused, 15 minutes in! 😂

Ready for work tomorrow - box of salad prepped.
Will weigh in tomorrow am. I hope it's not too bad!

AnotherStart · 02/05/2022 21:11

Hello everyone 👋 Would it be ok to join your lovely supportive thread? I really need a new start at weight loss and a bit more sticking power. I like your focus on keeping going despite the inevitable set-backs. I use a Fitbit and Myfitness Pal to count calories every day, but generally give up by teatime and eat chocolate, and I'm now nearly 17 stone. I will weigh tomorrow and then weekly and hope for some little-by-little weekly loss. I have a lovely 6 year old and a partner who is a nurse working funny shifts, and I need to focus on routine and sleep for myself - it's when I get tired that I overeat.
Thank you!

Bigbus · 02/05/2022 21:13

I know this won’t be for everyone but I get Hello Fresh - three meals for two people a week - each meal is under 650 calories. I cook a recipe for dinner and take the other portion to work for lunch the next day. It makes me eat a lot more protein and veg - previously I’d often have crisps and wine for dinner but now I don’t want to waste the meals I’ve bought so I make
myself cook them even when I’m exhausted.

H1Drangea · 02/05/2022 22:06

I’m back in the land of the living following the D&V incident , still not full of energy , but do have my appetite back , which is not entirely the best news, but the icecream was bloody lovely , and I only had one scoop, when previously I’d have had 2 …and it was when we went out for a walk , just a short one , not our normal trek

We’ve been watching The Spilt too , but I’m abit fed up of Hannah and Nathan ( they’re as bad as each other ) and Christy is an arse if he thinks Hannah will leave her children and jet off to NYC

Anyway , back in the real world , busy week looming , and I’m doing dinner for 6 of us on Saturday ( I only have 5 matching dinner plates … unless I use my Spode Christmas plates … what to do … 😀)

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 02/05/2022 23:20

An enforced absence from MN for me as we were away for a family event this weekend, and I can't post from the app at all still Angry I can't read the website very well and that crashes constantly for me, I am not a fan of this update!!

Been trying to catch up with everyone - and welcome to any newcomers! - but personally I'm still floundering like @Bjarnum <waves to fellow flounderer>...

Hope you enjoyed the Panorama programme if you managed to watch it @VenusStarr and @Bigbus - I just found it really interesting once that bit about associating food with memories came up. In one of the (many Blush) dieting books I've read, the author says clearly that what you're eating too much of is rarely about the actual food, it's about your associations with it - such as buttery toast for comfort if that's what your gran always made for you. For me it's carbs all the way, for others it might be crisps or ice cream.
