My story so far:
I started a thread “Lockdown stones to lose” in early June last year. I had nearly 3 stones to lose and was very determined. At times I did very well and at one point had lost over 1.5 stones.

Loads of people joined and then left and I think only four of us remained at the end. I kept plodding on. Just after Christmas I became ill for seven weeks (Covid related). I couldn’t do much or go out so my weight ballooned. I still kept plodding on. Then one of my dogs suffered an horrendous attack and whilst nursing her I just about lived on chocolate.

So here I am nearly 11 months later, most likely very nearly back to square one. I keep reminding myself that last time I said I would not give up no matter what! Will you join me tomorrow morning? I would love some company.

Prawn and edamame salad and some fruit for lunch today, mozzarella, tomato and avocado salad for dinner. I’m doing OK today after yesterday’s lapse.

@TimeToLose8, planting vegetables and building a henhouse is exercise!

extrapineappleonmypizza · 27/04/2022 22:02

Lunch - tomatoes, cucumber, orange bell pepper, cheese, chicken, coleslaw
Tea - Gousto ‘Roast ginger and coconut chicken with soy roasties, wilted spring greens and carrots’ 400kcal. Was a bit of a faff TBH.
Half a bottle of wine 🤦‍♀️ I’m blaming the awful traffic which made my commute home over two hours long 🤬

Weighed again this morning - 2lb down from yesterday, which was a nice surprise - It’ll probably return after tonight’s wine! But actually, I won’t weigh again for a few days - I can get quite addicted to it and it sets me back when the scales go up when I’ve worked really hard.

5 weeks until my holiday - need to stay focused.

Wheresmywoolyjumpers · 27/04/2022 22:05

Some great meals on here. I had a sweet potato with cauliflower cheese and broccoli.

Bigbus · 27/04/2022 23:01

Today has been good up until this evening when I have been tempted by wine and crisps. I think I’ve still had less that I would have previously so let’s hope it’s not too bad.

CanadianJohn · 28/04/2022 04:50

Can I join in?

I got hit by a double whammy last week... I was at the doctor for my recurrent back problems, and he told me that I have developed diabetes, according to both fasting glucose and HbA1c. I guess my sweet tooth has caught up with me. The three most important things to do are lose weight, lose weight, and lose weight. So, I guess I gotta lose weight.

I got home, checked my weight, and thought... just for the heck of it, I'll check my height too. Oh boy, my passport says I'm 5-7, but now I'm 5-5. Those compressed vertebrae in my back have reduced my height by 2 inches!

So, Tuesday morning of last week I was 5-7, 178 lbs (12 st 10), BMI 27.9
By Tuesday afternoon, I was 5-5, 178 lbs, BMI 29.6

Even worse, two years of lying around wearing jogging pants have concealed what I've been suspecting... my love handles now almost equal the circumference of the globe. So, I got out a tape measure ... dare I put this in writing... my waist is 48 inches. FORTY-EIGHT INCHES.

So, I gotta lose weight. Unfortunately, I cannot do much exercise; sometimes my back is so bad I can barely stand. I go for an MRI this Friday.

My plan, (and I'm almost as experienced at losing weight as I am at gaining it), is to try and watch sugars and carbs, and write everything down. You bite it, you write it.

SW: 12 st 10 (178 lbs)
CW: 12 st 9 (177 lbs)
GW: 10 st 10 (150 lbs).

Hah! I haven't been 150 lbs since I was a teenager. Even when I was running marathons I only got down to 155).

Greaterthanthesumoftheparts · 28/04/2022 06:36

Hey I’m also going to join if that’s ok. I am currently down 5 kg with 17 to go to goal. I am following Fast 800 keto which seems to be working for me at the moment. Last summer I was 10 kg less than now and I put on a lot of the autumn winter and am very disappointed that I didn’t keep off what I lost then… it’s such a roller coaster!

TimeToLose8 · 28/04/2022 06:52

Well this morning I am 0.6lbs down. Not a lot, but in the right direction. It must have been the half packet of crisps (shared them) that did it.

Toothache seems to have gone, which is a double-edged sword as yesterday I was nibbling food and definitely not eating as much. I'll try to keep it up, though.

Back building concrete pads for the henhouse today, so might get the heart pounding a little. I said earlier that I am really active in the day, which is good in terms of calories in/out, but in terms of fitness, it isn't really building the muscle mass and I definitely have a saggy core!

extrapineappleonmypizza · 28/04/2022 07:08

Morning everyone,

Hi to people who have recently joined!
@CanadianJohn Are you in Canada? I love your motto, ‘If you bite it, you write it!’

That half bottle of wine last night was worth it - I’ve slept like a log! Best night’s sleep I’ve had in ages!

I need to make a plan for food over the Bank Holiday weekend and go shopping tomorrow. If I haven’t got nice food in, we’ll likely end up getting takeaways, which is exactly what I don’t want.

Midnightstar76 · 28/04/2022 07:35

Morning,
Have lost a smidgen amount today still maintained at 11.3 and a half but was 11.3 and 3/4 yesterday but hey here’s to small victories. I did make a very nice quorn lasagne yesterday and had a couple of pieces of a garlic baguette so that definitely accounts for the smidgen loss. HopeI can achieve 11.2 by the end of the week but there is always next week to try again. Went for a walk at lunch yesterday as usual. Was planning on getting up and running at 6 this morning but I had a stressful / emotionally draining work day yesterday and was exhausted, could only manage to drag myself out of bed this morning. Will see how I am this evening and may go for a run this evening.

VenusStarr · 28/04/2022 07:49

Morning. I bit the bullet and weighed myself this morning (last time I did it was in January) and I'm pleasantly surprised to find I'm 9lbs down. Still massively over where I would prefer to be. Aiming for mini goals, so 3lbs.

I'm having an operation tomorrow, so not going to be too strict with myself after and just see what I fancy when I come round.

I'm going to look back over your meals, as I really struggle with inspiration.

TalkToTheHand123 · 28/04/2022 08:09

Well done VS, all the best.

poorpaws · 28/04/2022 08:12

Good morning

Welcome @CanadianJohn and @Greaterthanthesumoftheparts, I hope you both enjoy being with us (at the beginning I was worried no-one would join and we have loads of people, thank you).

I think I'm meeting my professional dog walker friend this morning (if she contacts me again), it's half an hour or so to meet her, then we walk for an hour and of course half an hour back so it's good (slow) exercise with the dogs off-lead. Later I plan to make a bolognese sauce.i used to make one weekly but haven't bothered for over a year (love baking, hate cooking) so I'm not sure what I'm doing any more but I love a bolognese over jacket potatoes.

I'm feeling weary this morning and a bit down (makes me cross when I'm like this and it's mostly when the sun goes in which it certainly has today).

Keep up the good work everyone and good luck with any weigh-ins today (I can never remember who weighs on what day so I'm not sure if we've got Thursday weighers or not).

Good morning, I’m feeling chipper this morning after weigh-in, I’ve lost 2 pounds this week! So feeling motivated to get on and lose the rest now. One more stone to go… lost 1.5 stone so far.

breakfast: coffee, blueberries and low fat Greek yoghurt
lunch: leftover quinoa salad
dinner: tuna steak salad with asparagus and broccoli

started the day off with 750ml of water

ClinkeyMonkey · 28/04/2022 10:06

Does anyone else get a headache when they start eating more healthily? Mine was awful this morning - like a hangover without any fun the night before! I suppose it's probably sugar withdrawal (I haven't cut it out, just down) or maybe adjusting to the whole fewer calories overall aspect. I've been for a walk and am loads better, but I know it will sneak in again from time to time.

ClinkeyMonkey · 28/04/2022 10:08

Oh and well done to any losersGrin who weighed themselves today!

Eviebeans · 28/04/2022 10:15

I have had headaches and I put it down to cutting out sugar

Eviebeans · 28/04/2022 10:16

Not just sweets etc but cutting back on carbs too

Notonthestairs · 28/04/2022 10:58

Fell off the wagon yesterday. Relatives in two different hospitals in two counties. I'm spending a lot of time in my car.

But I didn't overeat - it just wasn't the best planned day. I need to organise myself to take my lunches with me and to avoid a beige dinner.

Well done to everyone that has lost - you are inspiring me to push on.

SpreadHummusNotHate · 28/04/2022 11:00

@Eviebeans I had headaches in the first week too - I think from cutting down caffeine and sugar but they seem to have passed now, hope yours do soon too

Eviebeans · 28/04/2022 11:04

Thanks @spreadhummus it's a weird one as I actually feel better in myself which I am putting down to cutting out the junk. Not sure that it will equal weight loss but feeling better is a very good start

GinnieHempstock · 28/04/2022 12:17

@Eviebeans yes, headaches to start with, but feeling better now and less sluggish.

Also, I’m starting to notice feeling hungry or full, which when I’m off track goes as I’m never hungry then but also never truly full. I actually like the feeling of being hungry sometimes, as long as I’m not ravenous, as it means I’m doing something right. Years ago, I read paul mcKenna’s think yourself thin book and I still try to use some things from it:
eat at a table whilst not doing anything else. Terrible at doing this for lunch, but always have dinner at the table as a family.
Rate your hunger/ satiety between 0-10 and don’t get so hunger you are a 0-1 nor so full you are a 9-10, but eat when you get to 3-4 until you are at about 7. This takes some practice but is useful if you can do it.

Having a less busy day today, but this afternoon is going to be emotionally difficult. I don’t talk about my children on here much, but two have them have struggles. The middle one is transgender and recently came out at school. They have been very supportive, but my daughter is struggling and has been refusing to go to school for the last week, so we have a meeting with the HOY to see how we can help her. I found being a parent far easier when they were younger and a kiss and a cuddle wiped away any of their distress, not so easy as they grow up. ☹️

Anyway, protein shake for breakfast, madras meal for lunch and peri-peri chicken with dirty rice for dinner.
Weigh day tomorrow and I’m happy I’m doing well at the moment, but I always need to remind myself I didn’t put a stone on overnight, so I’m not going to lose a stone overnight either.

avalonn · 28/04/2022 12:26

Hi everyone, and good luck to the new joiners

Well today is my first weigh day and I have lost 7lbs. I can't believe it.

ClinkeyMonkey · 28/04/2022 12:58

Good grief that's brilliant @avalonn. Blooming well done!

avalonn · 28/04/2022 13:13

Thanks @ClinkeyMonkey to be honest I've been so good all week and stuck to 1200 calories per day plus walked the dog everyday.

I feel massively motivated now.
