My story so far:
I started a thread “Lockdown stones to lose” in early June last year. I had nearly 3 stones to lose and was very determined. At times I did very well and at one point had lost over 1.5 stones.

Loads of people joined and then left and I think only four of us remained at the end. I kept plodding on. Just after Christmas I became ill for seven weeks (Covid related). I couldn’t do much or go out so my weight ballooned. I still kept plodding on. Then one of my dogs suffered an horrendous attack and whilst nursing her I just about lived on chocolate.

So here I am nearly 11 months later, most likely very nearly back to square one. I keep reminding myself that last time I said I would not give up no matter what! Will you join me tomorrow morning? I would love some company.

I'm also still here but finding it difficult to post from my phone sometimes. Still trying to eat less in general and eat more of the good stuff. Why does the bad stuff taste so good though...

Midnightstar76 · 27/04/2022 07:23

Morning all,
Happy as jumped on the scales and have lost a pound.
SW 11.7
CW 11.3
GW 9.0

I went on a long walk at lunch , missed lunch as only have two meals when working which is more to do with crippling IBS and it helps that I don’t eat when at work so it’s not aggravated.
I did munch on a little bit of Easter egg chocolate and had a shortbread but still the scales are going in the right direction so that’s good. Hurry up DC and eat the blasted chocolate!!!

Happy hump Wednesday all.

Bigbus · 27/04/2022 07:36

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl I will definitely give that documentary a look.

I’m still reasonably motivated. I’m amazed at how many calories can be consumed without thinking!

poorpaws · 27/04/2022 08:14

Good morning everyone

I'm so tired and sore after 21,000 steps yesterday and I got bitten twice on my leg and once on my arm.

Bought only healthy food when shopping last night and a small beef joint to try in the slow cooker because I've heard it cooks well. I've been buying packs of beef for sandwiches and they are paper thin and cost such a lot for just a few slices. DP wanted to buy doughnuts to have with coffee after the shop but I refused 😇

I've got a morning to myself which is rare and I was going to put it to really good use cleaning but I can't be bothered so I'll probably mess with food all morning (cooking beef, making shredded salad for lunch and fresh fruit salad for after dinner instead of my usual cake, biscuits etc.)

I don't feel like a dog walk with these achy legs but no doubt will take them later.

Good luck today everyone,I hope it goes well for all of you.

OP posts:
applesandpears33 · 27/04/2022 08:28

I've been finding that listing everything here that I eat does help to concentrate the mind. Although I've eaten a lot I've also stopped myself from having occasional biscuits etc.

poorpaws · 27/04/2022 08:53

Good one @applesandpears33, we all keep learning on this diet journey.

In the past if I had a poor eating day at the beginning of the week, that was it for the whole week until the following Monday which stalled my weight loss for quite a while. I am better now but still if I fail to eat healthily for breakfast or lunch that's it for the whole day and I eat rubbish.

Yesterday was a prime example of this but a little better than normal. I'd eaten a lot in the day so for supper I had two big bowls of crunchy nut cornflakes. I would never do that on a day when I'd eaten better at lunch. I did refuse the donut (as I reported earlier) so it was better than normal. I don't know why I do it, it's like eating makes me hungry and I just have to eat more.

If anyone has any advice to cut out my stupidity (I'm always so cross with myself the next morning) please share because it's a major stumbling block for me. I have a meal out planned next week and I would love to not self sabotage.

OP posts:
TellMeAboutItStud · 27/04/2022 09:00

@poorpaws i have the same self-sabotage issue but recently it’s like a switch has flicked in my brain and I’m determined just to lose the weight. I fell of the wagon with a glass of wine the other night but didn’t have the accompanying snacks and the next morning rationalised that one slip-up is not going to make any difference but a binge (which is what I usually do) would set me back. Had a good day yesterday, more cravings than usual but I just drank peppermint tea when I felt like giving in and that seemed to help. Somehow the taste of mint makes me not feel like eating - same feeling as brushing teeth maybe?!

had a good day yesterday and determined to have another good one today.

poorpaws · 27/04/2022 09:17

@TellMeAboutItStud I clean my teeth a lot when I'm trying to lose weight and I also find chewing gum has the same effect, it makes my mouth taste minty.

I never sabotage with alcohol because I'm not really that bothered about it it's sweet things and I still have quite a lot of Easter eggs which I bought for myself 😳

OP posts:
TellMeAboutItStud · 27/04/2022 09:22

@poorpaws sweet things have historically been my downfall too, but this was my first glass of alcohol in 8 weeks so I forgave myself whilst still also feeling really stupid for having given in after so long!

ClinkeyMonkey · 27/04/2022 09:38

Hello @poorpaws I was hoping to find you here!!! I was on your previous thread under a different username (I think it was FunnyWonder) and dropped off because of stuff going on in my life. The comfort eating has been off the scale and I am now, let's say, more comfortable than I've ever been😁

I'm so very sorry to hear about your dog being attacked. What a horrible experience for you both. I hope your dog is well on the way to full recovery. And I'm also sorry about your illness. I had Covid in January, but luckily it was fairly mild, although it did leave me fatigued for a few weeks and killed off my regular jogging.

Anyway, I'd love to join you again and see where I get. I'm 11st 8lb, which is (I think) 2lb heavier than where I started last time. I'm just cutting out all the unnecessary stuff like cakes, biscuits, crisps etc. Nothing too rigid or I'll become obsessed, THEN beat myself up for not sticking to it and THEN just go back to saying 'sod it' and stuffing my face again!! I started on Monday and then thought, hey, a bit of support might be good.

I officially look like a Weeble.

YorkshireLawyer · 27/04/2022 09:43

Checking in for Day 4. I can empathise @poorpaws - I’ve had so many Monday fresh starts, only to be starting again the following Monday because it’s all gone off the rails by Wednesday or Thursday. I’m really hoping this time will be different. I have stuck to my plans so far, but I’ve got a family do this weekend so I need to work out a way to manage that without eating all the food and drinking all the wine all weekend!

Today’s goals:

  1. Navigate lunch at the soft play I’m taking DD to. I’ll need to eat there - I think they do soup and a roll which I need to have instead of a panini/burger etc.
  2. Fit some exercise in. I have a really busy day with work, DD’s gymnastics class and soft play after, picking my other kids up from school, homework etc etc - I just need to prioritise it for 20 mins at some point today.
  3. Veg curry for dinner tonight - portion control on the rice!
Good luck for today everyone.
Wheresmywoolyjumpers · 27/04/2022 10:28

@poorpaws - I love my slow cooker, use it all the time but never thought of cooking my own sandwich meat. Great idea! I weighed this morning but the scale bounced through a range for about a stone! So, just plugging away til I weigh in on Saturday. I had my muesli breakfast this morning so will see how that affects things - I feel that i don't get as hungry when I start the day with it, but will monitor today to see if I am as starving as I was yesterday. Good luck everyone, have a great day!

poorpaws · 27/04/2022 11:05

Hey @ClinkeyMonkey I remember you, you were FunnyWonder at that time, it's so nice to have you back.

I think as well as the last four remaining on the old thread at least three have rejoined since bailing out, I'm so pleased to hear from you all again.

Today is so different to yesterday. I've been so inactive today but the beef is in the slow cooker and the fruit salad made, although the kiwi was far to hard to add.

Going to make my ham salad lunch and then I'd better think about moving ...

OP posts:
gonelululemoncrazy · 27/04/2022 13:53

@TellMeAboutItStud 'sweet things have historically been my downfall too' - I am coming to terms with the fact that I am a sugar addict. Was doing so well yesterday till I got home from work and without thinking demolished a pack of rolos and a magnum! Trying desperately to drink water whenever I get a a craving instead of snacking - if it means going to the loo more, so be it.

Eviebeans · 27/04/2022 14:37

Have been pleased with myself so far today. Had poached eggs, tomatoes and mushrooms for breakfast, chicken with salad at lunch and planning to have fajitas later. Trying to drink as much water as I can - luckily I work from home.

Bunnyfuller · 27/04/2022 14:44

Could I join please?

I’m 54, and another 2 stone to lose. I started slimming world 3 1/2 months ago and will hopefully get my stone award tonight!

I had a massive heart attack in 2019, lost 1 1/2 stone, then Covid came along combined with a husband under investigation by the IOPC, could have lost his job, so all tremendously stressful.

I turned to wine and anything unhealthy I could stick in my gob and gained back a load of the weight. I have inflammatory arthritis so am limited in terms of exercise which is frustrating.

I have 2 teenager DDs, a might as well be a teenager DH, a gorgeous pug and a very mouthy cat.

2020in2020 · 27/04/2022 15:04

Hi everyone,

just checking in. Weighed in last night and have lost 1lb, which is good considering I may have accidentally consumed some of the kids Easter chocolate here and there 😳

This week I’m aiming for 2lbs and no off-plan foods.

SW: 10st 10lbs
CW: 10st 9lbs

Good luck everyone!

poorpaws · 27/04/2022 16:02

Welcome @Bunnyfuller and anyone I may have missed. This is turning into a good thread with people posting regularly and quite a few joining (and re-joining) too.

I'm just back from the dog walk, a bit shorter today so I haven't got my10,000 steps yet. I still feel shattered so I might just sit down with the tv on tonight (once I've done my daily steps).

Keep up the good work.

OP posts:
BeyondMyWits · 27/04/2022 17:38

Anyone else finding it hard when you are cooking for others too. I'm not about to cook different meals for me, so end up having smaller portions of what I make, and hopefully don't end up hungry.
Today I'm doing a traybake - turkey steaks with jerk marinade, yellow pepper, courgette, tomatoes and red onion. Serving with oven chips as DH wants chips. I'll have more veg, fewer chips.

Minimalme · 27/04/2022 18:45

@Bunnyfuller I have a pug called Bunny - he is scared of his own shadow and had quite a manly name when we rescued him Grin He is the love of my life!

Been a bit off the wagon - bloody scales are inconsistent I think because we have wonky floors. Was loosing nicely then weight went up and I have let a few bastard jelly beans in to my life.

Back on tomoz.

TimeToLose8 · 27/04/2022 18:57

Today I have done a lot of physical work - making a hen house in the morning and planting vegetables in the afternoon, so I am hungry as usual, and far too tired to do any exercise.

The bottle of wine in the fridge has been finished, but then there is no more to drink this week. So that's a good thing.

Weigh in tomorrow

TellMeAboutItStud · 27/04/2022 19:31

I’ve drunk lots of water today and made a quinoa, pomegranate and feta salad for dinner - added loads of cucumber/tomato as well to bulk it out, and generally feeling quite proud of myself for making it through the day!

peppermint tea tonight in front of the tv and then an early night. Going to weigh myself in the morning and keeping my fingers crossed for more progress.

applesandpears33 · 27/04/2022 19:37

Oh yes, I find cooking for the family difficult. I have one child who is a bit of a veg avoider and will refuse to eat salad. I did manage to get her to eat some stir fry tonight though which was a success.

I've decided my downfall is sweet carbs. Today I have eaten

A chocolate pancake
2 slices stollen
a satsuma
a small tuna salad
some Easter egg and a handful of Nerds (small sugary sweets)
a chocolate biscuit
a small bowl of pork stir fry
2 oatcakes

On the plus side, I didn't eat the whole Easter egg or packet of Nerds. Writing everything down is making me realise just how poor my general diet is. I need to eat more fruit and veg and less processed carbs.

GinnieHempstock · 27/04/2022 19:58

@Notonthestairs glad you’ve synced your watch. Just be warned, MFP still isn’t working properly, but they seem to be making progress. This link support.myfitnesspal.com/hc/en-us/articles/5716717249933 takes you to how they are getting on.

Had a very busy day at work, but ate to plan with just lunch of a korma meal, raspberries, blueberries and an apple.
Got home at 6.45 with DH making dinner, so I’m really proud of myself as I did a 20 minutes ride on my bike.

I have Friday as my weigh in day as that’s when I tend to weigh the least, but I am a daily weigher and I’ve finally got below the 12 stone mark as I weighed in at 11st 13.2lbs today. Yay. 😀

Dog walk soon, then think I’ll have a nice bath with a couple of the Lindt truffles from my Easter Egg.

Bunnyfuller · 27/04/2022 20:30

So it wasn’t the stone mark… 1/2 to go for that. 2 1/2 off and Slimmer of the week.

@Minimalme my pug is called Diggory and he’s a sly, greedy twat. He barks more than he should, knocks at doors and steals any food he possibly can.

steak, Mediterranean veg and a bit of peppercorn sauce for dinner. Blueberries and literally 2 little bites of the last of a Waitrose chocolate flan (family ate the rest of it).

keep up the good work everyone!
