Looking for a weekly weigh-in buddy who is looking to lose 2-2.5 stone

cardboardbox24 · 14/04/2022 12:55

Hi everyone. Finally faced the dreaded scales today and it has really shaken me. I am 11 stone and pre covid (and pre relationship breakdown) was 8.9 stone. I'm 5 ft 2 so the extra weight is really noticable and I feel so miserable and embarrassed I don't like leaving the house. I'm really struggling with motivation and think I need a buddy looking to lose a similar amount who will do a weekly weigh in with me and we can support each other to keep going. I'm aiming to do a slow weight loss of a pound a week in the hope this will be easier and I'll actually stick with it! Am going to do what has worked for me in the past: the 16:8, cutting out starchy carbs and limiting sugar to fruit and dark chocolate. Is there anyone out there who would like to be my weigh-in buddy?!

@petalsandstars well done for not dropping off... we don't want you to go! Weight loss is rarely linear - there'll always be some ups and downs as life gets in the way... as it rightly should! Don't want you to be miserable missing out on occasions for the sake of a few lbs. Back on track this week 💪🏻🙂

Well done @cardboardbox24 - still a loss! You might find you have a bigger loss next weigh in, maybe your body just needs to play catch up !

Fashiontatts · 05/05/2022 08:40

Start Weight - 12st 2
Goal Weight - 10st 7
Current Weight - 11st 9.5

Loss this week - 2.5lbs
Total loss - 6.5lbs

I'd love to say it was a clad iron will that helped me this week, however I suspect toothache and being unable to chew much has actually been the main help!

cardboardbox24 · 05/05/2022 08:41

@Fashiontatts this is amazing! Well done, you must be so pleased!

Fashiontatts · 05/05/2022 08:54

Thanks @cardboardbox24 , yeah I'm pretty pleased to be honest. I am one of those people who can be totally committed when I get in the right headspace so fingers crossed these initial losses spur me on to be like that! Even just swapping my nightly chocolate bar for a 99 calorie bliss bar/skinny whip bar etc will be helping massively I think.

Although - for complete clarity - I am still breastfeeding a 13 week old baby so I don't know if that's helping speed things along. But also because of that, I'm not cutting my calories down too much because I don't want to risk my milk supply so... who knows!

milkfromthesleepycow · 05/05/2022 08:55

SW 201lbs
CW 169lbs
GW 132lbs

Loss this week- 0!
Total loss 32lbs

Didn't gain but I want to be halfway there already 😡 taking deep breaths and focusing!

Well done to everyone for sticking with it (and it counts even with off plan days- marathon not a sprint!)

cardboardbox24 · 05/05/2022 09:09

@milkfromthesleepycow well done for staying on course, I know it's a bit rubbish when you get "stuck"! Maybe we can identify something for this week that we can do better than last week- for me I am definitely going to focus on no carbs with my evening meal.

milkfromthesleepycow · 05/05/2022 09:43

@cardboardbox24 sadly I can identify what went wrong quite easily- had a few bad days at work and took up sugar again! Blush

But onwards- just waiting for the slow cooker pan to finish in the dishwasher then will get a chicken stew in for tonight. Have meal planned until next week as working the weekend. yoga and w1r2 of couch to 5 k today. And going to walk my eldest to the supermarket to get the magazine she wants after school. Should get my step count up!!

Showercurtainofdoom · 05/05/2022 14:51

Start Weight - 174 lbs
Goal Weight - 154 lbs
Current Weight - 168 lbs

I'm struggling this week with the boredom of dieting, had a few slips and seeing that on the scales. Am feeling pretty despondent! Where has my motivation gone?!!

Well done everyone, keep at it

Elmo311 · 05/05/2022 15:22

I'm going to read through the comments, but I'd like to join too!
I'm also 5ft 2in and 10st 6. I agree because we are short it shows so much more!

cardboardbox24 · 05/05/2022 19:48

@Showercurtainofdoom I hear you- let's forget last week and focus on making this one a good one!

I’m trying to forget last week so I didn’t post yesterday. But have decided it’s better to stick with it. So I gained 3lbs. I think I underestimated calories in my food and overestimated how many calories I’d burned at the gym. Starting again this week and trying not to get caught up in it.
well done to everyone who lost!

ShitHair · 06/05/2022 11:04

Hi all :)
It's my birthday tomorrow. I'm a bit wary of this as usually I binge and then I feel like I've ruined everything so fall off the wagon.

I'd love to just eat a bit of cake and leave it at that.

I hate that I am an emotional eater. Happy? Let's eat! Sad? Let's eat? Etc!

I'm going to try my best to avoid all the food at this party I'm going to (not for me). I miss the feeling of accomplishment.

Fashiontatts · 08/05/2022 07:43

@Shedcity ohh I think we've all done that at one point...! I used to underestimate what I was eating all the time until I started tracking it. You could try using MyFitnessPal to keep an eye on calories?

Fashiontatts · 08/05/2022 07:45

Happy belated birthday @ShitHair ! Hope you had a nice day!! Hope you're still on the wagon. One day "off plan" isn't irreversible so stick with it 🙂

Fashiontatts · 12/05/2022 08:12

Start Weight - 12st 2
Goal Weight - 10st 7
Current Weight - 11st 7

Loss this week - 2.5lbs
Total loss - 9lbs

Hope everyone has had a good week this week! I'm happy with another loss, going the right way just need to keep motivated.
Getting some gym stuff delivered on Friday too so I'll hopefully start some exercise to help keep the momentum up!

Showercurtainofdoom · 12/05/2022 08:18

Well done Fashiontatts!

Start Weight - 174lbs
Goal Weight - 154lbs
Curren weight - 166lbs
Loss this week - 2lbs

Happy with that but wish weight loss was faster!!! But I guess we have to live too.

Hope everyone else has a good week.

Fashiontatts · 12/05/2022 08:34

@Showercurtainofdoom well done! 2lbs off is still a good loss. I know what you mean tho - I am terribly impatient!

Shedcity · 12/05/2022 10:32

Starting: 11st 9.6lb

Target: 9st 12lb
Current: 11st 4.4
This week's weight loss: 2.4 lbs
Total weight loss: 5.3lbs

I’ve not managed to lose the full 3lbs I gained last week, but I think it’s good progress

well done everyone else too!

Showercurtainofdoom · 12/05/2022 18:41

Well done Shed, its a marathon, not a sprint. Well I hope so as I'm currently eating everything in sight. Writing this here publicly to try to distract and stop myself.

Multi pack of crisps x2
Chocolate digestive ×5
Cereal
3 handfuls of mini chedders

in the space of 5 minutes. Not needed!

jynnerso · 12/05/2022 18:46

Can I join you please?
I daren't weigh myself but know am prob a few pounds over 11 stone and am only 5'1....
I've been trying to be motivated to shift it but anything I do is soooo slow.
I also have CFS and an autoimmune arthritis so exercise is almost impossible.
In fact I've put on about 2 stone since having CFS as I can't do my normal activities.
I need a plan but am a bit clueless and terrible at sticking with things!

Shedcity · 12/05/2022 21:24

@Showercurtainofdoom thanks that’s what I keep trying to think, I can’t fix that all I can manage is now. Next week is DHs birthday and a huge week for me at work, so I’m a bit nervous about eating birthday dinners and cake and not having much time to exercise because I’ll be working late a lot. But I can only manage some of it and at least I’m not still steadily gaining, I’m down overall.

sometimes I think you just have to stuff your face and then start over I’m afraid!

Fashiontatts · 12/05/2022 21:24

Well done @Shedcity !

Fashiontatts · 12/05/2022 21:26

Hi @jynnerso..! That sounds tough...! The only thing that works for me is calorie counting and tracking my calories per day so I know that I'm getting it right, not forgetting the little bits here and there that all add up! X

jynnerso · 12/05/2022 21:32

@Fashiontatts yes I think I need a plan to follow.
Eating a lot less would be a good start!
I'm going to brave the scales tomorrow morn and post here so I at least know what I'm up against.

Fashiontatts · 12/05/2022 21:49

@jynnerso good luck for the weigh in! It's horrible but a necessary evil! Let us know how you get on
