Hard to believe itโ€™s April already ๐Ÿ˜ฎ. Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day.

Are you in๐Ÿ˜Š What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Fell... obviously I fell on the shortbread, I didn't just feel it, that might have been a better option!

buzzofthebumblebee · 05/04/2022 08:52

Hello everyone. Big welcome to the new people, and big wave to the longer-timers. Have read but no time to post til now.

Big posh do Saturday was good. I felt good in my LBD & heels. Said yes to everything offered - which I am still paying for now !

Sending strong NO SNACKING vibes to everyone, myself included. Absolutely nothing gained by sabotaging weight-loss through empty calories

Sorry you had such a rubbish birthday and feeling low @ImALittlePea. No magic wand here to make it all OK but just to say I hear you, and that's without me having covid and isolating on birthday.

Lovely to have you back @Graphista.

Like your thinking to focus on NSV's @SanFranBear - that's great for your knees (and probably hips & other joints too!). Also counting down to a "break" at Easter. Will still be busy, but change of routine will be good. Hang on in there!

Have a good day everyone

TheRealHousewife · 05/04/2022 09:32

Good Morning Everyone

@ginsparkles Your post is funny ๐Ÿ˜…. Love it!

@Gonnagetgoing Thyroid disfunction totally sucks! Iโ€™m on 75 and have previously queried it being too low as my levels are โ€˜adequateโ€™ rather than โ€˜optimumโ€™. As an example how much harder it is to lose weight (I do realise there are many variables) my OH has been totally on it food/drink wise the past 4 days and has lost 6lbs ๐Ÿ˜ฎ. Iโ€™ve lost 1/2lb ๐Ÿ˜ก. I know I canโ€™t exercise like I did but I canโ€™t cut my cals any further as it affects sleep and other things. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

@SanFranBear great NSV! ๐Ÿ‘

@fallfallfall great menu. Plenty of bang for your buck!

@SingaporeSlinky Not long now! Well done on the exercise ๐Ÿ‘

You are very welcome @8stone13 ๐Ÿ˜Š

Happy Belated Birthday @ImALittlePea. Sorry to read it was rubbish. Sending a hug ๐Ÿค— ๐Ÿ’ ๐ŸŒบ ๐Ÿซ ๐Ÿธ๐ŸŽ‚

45 minute spin class this morning, 15 mins on treadmill (uphill walking) and 3000m rowing.

Think yesterday was too ambitious food wise, ended up snacking on a few sausage rolls I had in the fridge for kids packed lunches, then after dinner I had a twix. Still came in under 1100 cals though, and water weight has dropped off, so back down to 9st 2.5

Lunch today is scrambled eggs and chives.
Dinner is sweet and sour chicken with wholemeal rice noodles.

Gonnagetgoing · 05/04/2022 11:51

Morning! No weigh in as yet! So far had blueberries and oatsosimple with honey and home made egg Mayo sandwich on hovis seven seeds bread (no margarine) with Hellmanโ€™s organic Mayo and 1 egg, 4 small cherry tomatoes and date with peanut butter.

Last night had tofu stir fry with small portion basmati rice may have remainder for dinner or lunch tomorrow.

Exercise have to drive or walk to get shopping.

Gonnagetgoing · 05/04/2022 11:53

Oh I ended up snacking on krackawheat x 4 with flora proactive and 4 small slices Edam
and 2 before bed.

Gonnagetgoing · 05/04/2022 11:56

@TheRealHousewife - Iโ€™ll ring doctor and speak to them. I hate being on levothyroxine and donโ€™t feel that much better for it but have to take it!

For me it seems to affect energy levels, sleep etc but also dealing with menopause. Last night I had neighbours a few doors down yappy dogs barking for bloody ages and other neighbours had loud gardeners in at 8am!

Iโ€™m usually up at 8 for cat but sometimes go back to bed and off work so this kind of irritated me lol ๐Ÿ˜‚

TheRealHousewife · 05/04/2022 19:09

@Gonnagetgoing Good idea! I donโ€™t have any side effects from the Levothyroxine but perhaps thatโ€™s because the dose is so small ๐Ÿ˜ฌ. I have a few conditions in addition to thyroid disease so my fatigue, poor sleep, lethargy, aches and pains is probably a mix of everything. Nonetheless I try to do my absolute best every day. Not always easy but what else can we do ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ. Hereโ€™s hoping you get a better nights sleep tonight ๐Ÿคž

Well done @SingaporeSlinky ๐Ÿ‘ Nice weight youโ€™ve reached. ๐Ÿ‘Œ

All done eating wise, kitchen cleaned & closed. Looking forward to an early night ๐Ÿ˜ฌ Nite All.

I think this is a record, posting my morning weight at 8.50pm ๐Ÿ˜€

Day 94 - Tues 5th April - 9s 3 & 1/4lb
BMI 21.3
BF 23.6

fallfallfall · 06/04/2022 03:15

i'm hoping to brave the scale tomorrow. it's charged up (again on the first the battery was at zero despite absolutely no use).
i ate totally off plan and despite a really odd start to the am may not have done too much harm;
boiled egg with steamed green beans for breakfast (no broccolini)
lunch was a dh birthday celebration out with pizza, cesar salad, and chocolate cake....all single orders shared between us.
then for supper a simple green salad.
i'm only doing light exercise due to the low cal but 45 minutes worth and hitting the 10,000 steps a day.

Harmonyrays · 06/04/2022 06:01

Hi everyone
Brief update I'm sticking with 2 meals day and fasting for about 18hrs
Sw96.6kg
Cw82.8kg
Gw60kg

For those on thyroid meds, I feel you! Mines been all over shop in the past year. Currently on 175/150mgs alternating daily. The only way I can lose weight is to go very low carb and exercise 5 days intensely. What's worked for you?

GalactatingGoddess · 06/04/2022 06:58

Checking in, yesterday and Monday I was at 1400 cals so going to try for 1200 and hopefully see progress when I weigh in Sunday!

ginsparkles · 06/04/2022 07:12

Good morning, happy Wednesday everyone.

Unexpected surprise on the scales this morning. A lovely little 1lb drop! Not huge but considering the mini egg incident and time of the month, I'll take it!

SW 12st
CW 11st 13
GW 10st 7 (ideally but happy anywhere below 10st 10)

Yesterday came in under calories around 1100

Todays plan
Tomato and herb pasta salad,
Mushroom stroganoff with wild rice.
Snacks of yogurt and a banana.

SanFranBear · 06/04/2022 08:03

Well done, Gin! and Harmony - I think you have similar goals to myself, although admittedly, you starting weight was considerably under mine. How tall are you (I'm 5'4 so 60ish is towards the top end of the 'healthy' weight for me)

Have my own WoW later (Walk on Wednesday) as going to head out for a nice 11k hike. Not in the forest this week as various road closures saw me get quite stuck in there last week but luckily the Hampshire countryside is beautiful all over!

Foreverlexicon · 06/04/2022 08:52

Hi all, very busy couple of days at work.
Been doing better and coming in under calories last couple of days.

I have upped my limit to 1600 just to make it a tad easier as the rush before holiday is gone. I havnt managed to do any exercise since Iโ€™ve been back between feeling poorly and work but Iโ€™ve got a day off today so hope to get to the gym and will walk the dog.

TheRealHousewife · 06/04/2022 09:13

Good Morning Everyone!

WOW = 1/2lb down. It would be great if that was week on week but overall still yo-yoing/maintaining. I suppose better than gaining.

Great numbers @8stone13, well done ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

@fallfallfall thatโ€™s a great idea to share dishes! Sounds like you still celebrated whilst watching intake. 10,000 steps ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

@Harmonyrays thatโ€™s fantastic progress! ๐Ÿ‘Œโญ๏ธ๐Ÿฅ‡ In regards to thyroid disfunction and what works. At the moment nothing. I canโ€™t lower cals any more. I canโ€™t exercise any more due to disability. Iโ€™m considering having a chat with GP about my levels. He says they are โ€˜adequateโ€™ but Iโ€™d like to go for โ€˜optimumโ€™ to see if it makes a difference.

@ginsparkles thatโ€™s a great little loss! It all adds up! ๐Ÿ‘

@SanFranBear Enjoy your walk, 11k is awesome ๐Ÿ‘

Hi @Foreverlexicon Enjoy your day off, hope the suns shining for you!

Menu
Meal 1 - Portobello โ€˜Pizzaโ€™ & side salad
Meal 2 - Halloumi, chickpea, quinoa poke bowl.

Tea, coffee, water. Pear, 1/2 apple.

Enjoy your day!

Weight today 9st 1.5 - so close! Thatโ€™s 1.5lbs since last Wednesday which Iโ€™m really surprised by, especially as I went up to 9st 4 over the weekend. Managed to resist the chocolate yesterday.

SW 10st 7
CW 9st 1.5
TW 8st 13 (just to be under the 9)

B - coffee with skimmed milk and honey
L - baked apple skyr, chocolate granola and strawberries
D - sausage, roast potatoes, green beans

Today Iโ€™ve done 45 min body tone class, 10 mins cross-trainer, 3000m rowing and 15 mins uphill walking on treadmill.

8stone13 · 06/04/2022 11:27

Day 95 - Weds 6th April - 9s 2lb
BMI 21.2
BF 23.4

Not quite sure how that happened but very pleased with it!

I've got a mad couple of weeks ahead & won't be able to totally focus but am thinking I might try & hit that 8s 13lb at the end of April/into May ๐Ÿค”

I'm comfortable where I am & crucially I'm maintaining which is what I've failed to do over the last 3 years, but it might just be nice to see it on the scales, just once!

@SingaporeSlinky Remind me what it feels like when you get there ๐Ÿ˜€

SunshineCake1 · 06/04/2022 12:11

Hi everyone

Sorry to be so rubbish at posting. More than rubbish since all I have posted is a ๐Ÿ‘‹.

Still no news on DD๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ˜ฅ.

This morning I ran 5km on the treadmill, walked with the dog and then to the shop which was 10km in total and I'm about 1.5lb off in the last couple of days. Still really struggling to eat but if I don't eat dh won't and it won't make any difference. Still not sleeping great and we have told the family and another friend now Sad.

ginsparkles · 06/04/2022 13:39

Much love @SunshineCake1 xxx

TheRealHousewife · 06/04/2022 13:42

@SingaporeSlinky thatโ€™s great progress! Well done ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘Œ. Keep going , you donโ€™t have far to go to goal.

@8stone13 great stats as per ๐Ÿ‘

WOW - literally ! Great weight losses everyone. I avoided the scales as I didn't want to let side down - all you lot or myself. I'm struggling with food but not nose-diving, so that is progress ?! (portions gone up, more carbs, GnT, and peanuts ... so could be worse, but I know even with this extra eating I can't loose at my age / weight, even with all the exercise I'm doing).

Sending warm wishes where needed. Some days are hard, for whatever reason.

Crazzzycat · 06/04/2022 18:01

Iโ€™ve been avoiding the scales too @buzzofthebumblebee. Iโ€™ve been eating way too much chocolate ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Iโ€™ve just finished day 6 of my rowing challenge (6 km today). Iโ€™m taking the idea of needing to feed my body if I want to make it to the end a bit too literal I think. I really donโ€™t need chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate.

Anyway, I have to say Iโ€™m pleasantly surprised by how easy the challenge has been so far, but itโ€™s going to ramp up quickly now. Every time I get on the rowing machine I feel a bit more nervous about whether Iโ€™ll make it to the end, or whether this will be the day my arms give up ๐Ÿ˜‚

SingaporeSlinky · 06/04/2022 18:05

@Crazzzycat Iโ€™ve started getting calluses from the handles on the rowing machine ๐Ÿง
