Hard to believe itโ€™s April already ๐Ÿ˜ฎ. Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day.

Are you in๐Ÿ˜Š What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Hello everyone

Just checking in. 5 full weeks of healthy eating complete now and still going ok.

SW: 91.5kg
CW: 85.8kg

Still a long way to go. For April I am trying short HIIT workouts. V sore muscles already!

GalactatingGoddess · 03/04/2022 19:51

Thanks for the welcome. Resisted temptation all day but really feeling it now that DD has gone to sleep.

Had a healthy (albeit not massively low calorie) tea of wedges (sweet and normal potato), salmon and sautรฉed spinach. Reeeaalllly want a sweet thing now!

SanFranBear · 03/04/2022 20:13

Hello all new bods (says I, of one whole month standing Grin) Nice to see a busy thread as it always gives me some ideas and inspiration.

Some great losses and even those just starting out, can only go down from here!

Had a pretty nice day although DD unexpectedly had her friend over for dinner so lost my portion (yummy roast chicken dinner as well!) Have had a sort of breakfast type dinner as needed something quick and easy after the hassle of cooking a roast - so eggs, turkey bacon and mushrooms (with lots of sweet chilli sauce!)

I got my March summary as I managed to walk over 100 miles last month - gobsmacked really as that's probably the most I have ever walked in a month. Looking forward to some lovely walks in the next few weeks although have kind of got used to going it alone and plugging myself into my favourite podcast. A friend has got the taste though and wants to come along and I obviously don't have the heart to say no and it's unlikely to be every time but I have such limited time due to single-parent-ness (one night one week, two the next) that it's really precious. Ah well - it is nice to have company too and she's absolutely lovely so will just see how it goes!

Harmonyrays · 03/04/2022 20:19

Evening all,

Thank you for the warm welcome everyone. It's nice to hear about everyone's journey ๐Ÿ˜Š

I've fasted 18 hours today, had 2 meals or wheatabix and bagel for breaking and soup for dinner with a potato salad and bun.

How often does everyone weigh in and what's the best weightloss per week to keep it off in the long term?

fallfallfall · 03/04/2022 20:46

@SanFranBear, I get you with the walking partner! Needs to be someone with a similar cadence and ability.
My Apple Watch April challenge is 150 miles.
Lunch on plan broccoli leek soup with a few strawberries following 150 cals.

Was1969 · 03/04/2022 20:52

Hello all. Can I join for a bit of accountability. Aiming to be more consistent with healthy eating (Mediterranean style eating) and exercise. SW 90.3 kg, CW 88.3 kg. April goal 85.3 kg.

GalactatingGoddess · 04/04/2022 10:52

Todays plan is a bit carb heavy as we need to get a shop in but:

B: 1 slice toast and Greek yoghurt with grapes
D: no idea! Going to take inspiration from this thread or another
T: see above ๐Ÿ˜‚

Crazzzycat · 04/04/2022 10:54

Morning all! And welcome to all the newbies

Just a quick update from me. I had a reasonably good day yesterday. I went out for a meal, which is such a rare thing for me that I donโ€™t worry about calories. But I did notice afterwards that I was subconsciously making lots of โ€œbetter choicesโ€, no extra bread, no sugary drinks and a firm no to the offer of cake later on in the day. I just really didnโ€™t fancy it to be honest. I also walked past Hotel Chocolat, without being tempted to go in. I shocked myself!

I also had a long and honest discussion with my DH about his diet. He really wants to lose weight himself, but knows nothing at all about nutrition. He actually thought that white bread is a health food ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

And finally, for once, an update on my 2022 km in 2022 challenge posted at the start of the week.. I did 61.80 km last week, which brings the total so far to 837.58 km. Iโ€™m planning 50 km of rowing this week, so if I go for a walk or two, I might make it to 900 km this week!

8stone13 · 04/04/2022 10:57

Day 93 - Mon 4th April - 9s 3 & 3/4lb
BMI 21.4
BF 23.8

Still no time to catch up, sorry...

Hope it's ok to still post even though I'm being a rubbish thread member ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Gonnagetgoing · 04/04/2022 11:07

Morning everyone! New week new start! Welcome to any newbies!

Had taste the difference cod fishcake, sweet potato, carrots and broccoli and small potato with cheese sauce for dinner and had almost a full bag of Sensations Thai flavour crisps. Blush

This morning usual breakfast of oatso simple with skimmed milk with blueberries and honey.

Think Iโ€™m same weight as yesterday of 11 stone 3llb need to sort out BMI.

Gonnagetgoing · 04/04/2022 11:17

@Crazzzycat - well done on the small wins!

I think that so often we look at things we donโ€™t need and think we deserve them eg lunch at my parents on Saturday I was supposed to have a slice of low fat cheese on toast with cherry tomatoes but there was spare baked beans so had a large portion of those (5 a day) and a veggie sausage (extra). I tend to go to my mumโ€™s for dinner once a week mid week as she lives fairly nearby and one meal we have is chicken Turkish pilau, I scrape most of the rice off so itโ€™s veggies and chicken but then have 2 small sliced garlic baguette which must cancel out the rice Iโ€™ve just scraped off! Grin

Iโ€™m quite good when out with DNephew as I give him snacks for energy (Soreen cake bars, small packs raisins) and I donโ€™t have them myself! I also try not to have cakes/snacks myself but if I do pass somewhere with them and I like them I do have them for a treat sometimes.

Does anyone have experience of under active thyroid?

My history is as a child and teenager I was very slim, under 7 stone and 7 stone at 20. In my mid 20s I was a solid 8-8 and a half stone and late 20s 9 stone but I think I mightโ€™ve had the thyroid issue then. I also rarely exercised apart from odd aerobics classes or lots of walking in commute. Height 5ft 5. Thyroid Iโ€™ve found itโ€™s so hard to lose weight or I have to make a real effort.

TheRealHousewife · 04/04/2022 11:34

Good Morning Everyone

New week, New Start!

Loved reading your weekend posts @Crazzzycat @HouseofHolbein, so positive & inspiring! โญ๏ธ House, Your body will thank you for the rest after your run ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ Crazzzy well done on swerving HC and automatically making healthier choices ๐Ÿ‘

Welcome to the thread @beconsistent22. Sounds doable๐Ÿ‘

@8stone13 youโ€™re not rubbish and youโ€™re welcome to post as often (or not) as you want ๐Ÿ˜Š

@Gonnagetgoing I have underactive thyroid which I have to take thyroxine for. I had blood tests after finding it impossible to lose on a low cal diet and I lost my outer eyebrows and arm hair๐Ÿ˜ฎ. If I was you Iโ€™d make a GP appointment. I was also around 7.5 stones as a teenager/early 20s. Doubt Iโ€™ll see that weight again though ๐Ÿ˜ฌ. Good luck! PS we had same thought about new week, new start ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Motherdare · 04/04/2022 12:31

Hello, Iโ€™m a few days late but holding myself to account by posting here. I lost 20lb in summer 2020 and felt great but 7 of them have crept back on in the past few months. I donโ€™t want to undo all my hard work - I wonโ€™t let it happen! So hereโ€™s where I restart and shift those 7 (and maybe a couple more).

I donโ€™t eat before 12 and I calorie count with MFP - every morsel. I also eat chocolate EVERY DAY. So long as I come in at about 1400 each day I am able to lose. I exercise but never eat back the calories!

Gonnagetgoing · 04/04/2022 12:41

@TheRealHousewife ah so youโ€™re similar to me.

As far as I know Iโ€™m on the right dose (150mg of levothyroxine), doctor as usual theyโ€™re not interested, donโ€™t explain much.
But I need to see them anyway so I will and will raise this!

My new week new start is job hunting as Iโ€™m officially unemployed but need to job hunt.

After Easter well start of May actually Iโ€™m taking in a lodger to just ease the pressure with bills etc.

@Motherdare 1.5 stone over the past 18 months is a great achievement and even dropping 7 isnโ€™t that bad!

I tend to find my diet exercise comes in peaks and troughs, some weeks months itโ€™s easy and others itโ€™s so hard but for me itโ€™s based on lifestyle and if Iโ€™m down etc.

What sort of chocolate do you eat? Iโ€™d probably try to have it every day rather than every day.

I always used to love chocolate (Lindt bars) but really gone off them now. I was in Sainsburyโ€™s yesterday and if theyโ€™d had the larger bags of mini eggs iโ€™d have got them!

ImALittlePea · 04/04/2022 13:19

Afternoon all. Final day of isolation today, and I'm SO fed up. I've fallen well and truly off the diet wagon, which I knew would happen this weekend anyway (and I'd have probably been even worse had we not cancelled all of our plans) but I'm still feeling bad for it. I've totally lost my motivation as well. Which is fine for today, but don't want it to slip into the rest of the week. DH has just been and bought so many beige treats, which I now need to try and avoid. We're having fajitas tonight, one of my faves, but I'm not even looking forward to that right now. Urgh. Happy birthday to me, eh ๐Ÿ˜

8stone13 · 04/04/2022 14:16

Thank you @TheRealHousewife ๐Ÿ˜Š

Hoping things get calmer later in the week ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿป

Sending a wave to all, old & new ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿป

SingaporeSlinky · 04/04/2022 16:25

One week until holiday! Eek!

Final push this week, I know I canโ€™t do much realistically at this point, so Iโ€™m glad I started back in January. I know Iโ€™ve done about as much as I could in that time. A few blips here and here, but the loss was pretty consistent. I had far too much chocolate yesterday, and I donโ€™t even know why, but once I had some, I couldnโ€™t stop, then was cross with myself. So extra effort today.

45 minute legs, bums and tums class this morning, 15 minutes on cross-trainer, 3000m rowing.

Today Iโ€™ve had a coffee with milk and honey.
Lunch was greek yoghurt, granola and strawberries.
Dinner will be tuna steak pan fried in garlic, ginger, soy sauce and sesame oil. Served with tomatoes and spinach. Very low calorie day.

fallfallfall · 05/04/2022 03:38

202 calorie oatmeal for breakfast
200 calorie sandwich using 1 slice of bread
375 calorie supper (braised pork tenderloin, roasted butternut squash and green salad)
optometrist appointment in the am resulted in some really nice new eyeglasses and sunglasses....i'm really tickled by the sunglasses.
tomorrow breakfast will be easy, just need to measure it out, yogurt with fresh fruit and chia seeds (or maybe not on the chia seeds??)

SanFranBear · 05/04/2022 07:02

I'm just so tired at the moment which is not helping me be particularly strong willed. I am not a morning person but unfortunately, neither is DD so I'm up at 6,30 every day to get her moving (and to feed kittens). Roll on the Easter holidays!

Another NSV though - I noticed how much less my knees hurt. I did C25k a few years back and really hurt them (just old age according to the physio) and they've not really been the same since. I won't say I'm bounding upstairs yet but they definitely are not like they were, only 3 months ago! Still click like the devil though but can't have it all!

ginsparkles · 05/04/2022 08:26

Good morning, yesterday went a little off the rails, went out for dinner and didn't fancy eating salad.... ooops! And I tripped and feel into a mini egg shortbread, with my mouth open....

I entirely blame it being the time of the month!

Today will be better!!!

Meals for today
Weetabix with strawberries
Gammon and egg with salad.
