Hard to believe itโ€™s April already ๐Ÿ˜ฎ. Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day.

Are you in๐Ÿ˜Š What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Good Morning Everyone

@HouseofHolbein Your weekend sounds busy but great fun! Enjoy ๐Ÿ‘

Hi @Flowers111 Welcome back. 4lbs is a very motivating start! Well done ๐Ÿ‘ Iโ€™m with you about โ€˜dietingโ€™. I advocate to find a โ€˜way of eatingโ€™ (different for everyone) that sustains you and is enjoyable whilst losing any excess in a steady way. Meds also cause me to gain (water weight etc) and as I have a penchant for stomach bleeds they are always a last resort.

Menu
Meal 1 - Spicy Chicken Thighs. Greek yoghurt and honey.
Meal 2 - Salmon and Mixed Veg Basmati Rice (pimped up with spring onion, tiny chopped red pepper, garden peas, sweet corn, red onion)
Tea, Coffee, Water.

Enjoy your weekend!

Morning all ๐Ÿ™‚

Sat 23rd April - 9s 4 & 3/4lb
BMI 21.6
BF 24.4

1/4lb gain but I still expected it to be more after two days eating out/salty food. Hopefully the 47,000 miles I walked had staved off further gain!

This sudden jump from 9s 2lb to 9s 5lb or thereabouts is seasonal. Honestly, wait until the Sept thread. One day I'll suddenly go down by 3lb overnight & stay there till this time next year. It's amazing how the change in seasons adds/removes 3lb that I can't do anything about ๐Ÿ˜€

8stone13 · 23/04/2022 11:39

Also, does anyone have a foot spa?! I'm threatening to get one to save my poor feet. I was in the bath for two hours last night & the night before just soaking them & their blisters ๐Ÿ˜ฃ

SanFranBear · 23/04/2022 11:40

Morning - just ๐Ÿ˜†

Slow start to the day - DC came back yesterday evening and I always sleep so much better when they're back under my roof. Don't get me wrong, I truly appreciate the peace & quiet and am so aware a lot of parents don't get that break but since my divorce, I've often struggled with slight anxiety. I went to Group Therapy years and years ago and it hugely helped (which was a massive surprise!) but I'm not sure you're ever cured of these things.

Loving your pimped up rice, RealHousewife - sounds delicious. And you're so right... for sustainable loss/maintenance, you need to find the lifestyle change which works for you. This is where I've fallen on my face previously but I know, with all your support, this time is different.

You're very active, Flowers - I haven't been on a bike for years but it's such a good work out! And you too Holbein - ParkRun before I'd even dragged myself out of bed ๐Ÿ’ช

Sorry to hear of your condition, DrRuth but you sound positive and your family sound adorable. Real life support is so important.

Hope you're able to find some peace this weekend, Sunshine, even if just for a short while. You must be exhausted Flowers

DrRuthGalloway · 23/04/2022 11:49

This condition is super common. About 11 percent of women beating themselves up for having "fat legs" in the UK. Probably some others on this thread! It doesn't stop them working, it's just an aesthetic thing mostly!

Didn't do too well last night. Takeaway night and I couldn't resist. I bought grilled lamb with veg couscous so tried to make a reasonable choice. But it was undoubtedly over 200 Cals! Still, back in the saddle this morning. This has to be a long term thing and I need to allow life to happen, whilst making choices as sensibly as possible. Marathon not sprint etc....!

Crazzzycat · 23/04/2022 12:35

Afternoon all! Apologies for being so quiet, but I just canโ€™t get on with this new version of MN (or rather my phone canโ€™t!). Constantly losing my posts was getting more than a little bit frustrating, so I needed a break!

Anyway, Iโ€™ve been doing a lot of thinking these last few weeks about what Iโ€™m actually trying to achieve. When I was doing my crazy rowing challenge, I came across a few people who were well into 80s who were rowing long distances every single day, while I was struggling to make it to 10k ๐Ÿ˜‚ It really put my weightloss journey into perspective and Iโ€™ve concluded that whether I stay the same, or lose another 2 or 4 kg really doesnโ€™t matter that much. What matters is the long term investment in my health and fitness.

So, Iโ€™ve decided Iโ€™m going to aim for maintenance calories for a few months and really focus on the quality of what I eat (no more crisps and not a lot of chocolate!) Combined with the intense 12 week rowing programme I signed up for, that may result in a loss, or it may not...weโ€™ll see!

Iโ€™d like to keep posting here though, if you let me?

SunshineCake · 23/04/2022 12:54

Of course @Crazzzycat, I need you!

2022km in 2022 challenge. Yesterday I was on 815.12.

Thank you @SanFranBear I am really tired. Walked the dog then the morning in the kitchen making a big buffet. DS1 and his friend should be here soon for lunch.

I have texted my therapist but no reply.

DD was pretty chatty this morning. I am finding it disconcerting as she isn't very talkative very often and I'm left thinking, have you forgotten the last month?!

TheRealHousewife · 23/04/2022 16:47

@8stone13 Thatโ€™s interesting about your seasonal loss/gain. Youโ€™ve still got good stats! Sorry I canโ€™t help in regards to foot spa. Hope your feet soon recover!

@SanFranBear I really can empathise about anxiety and I think youโ€™re right. Once we start to suffer from it, unfortunately itโ€™s never far from the surface. I donโ€™t often have Basmati rice as itโ€™s too carby for me. To reduce the carb/sugar/insulin hit I only have a small portion and have it mixed with tiny chopped veg. The ratio is about 2/3rds veg to 1/3rd rice. Very tasty ๐Ÿ˜‹

Loved your post @DrRuthGalloway and I agree however we choose to eat itโ€™s got to allow for life to happen ๐Ÿ‘

@Crazzzycat no need to apologise and you are most welcome to post or just follow. Weโ€™re still here for when you want to join in but it would be great if you carried on with us all ๐Ÿ˜Š I blummin hate the new MN format too! Another thing Iโ€™ve noticed is any photos are now on the bottom of the post rather at the top which I feel alters the aesthetics a bit. Iโ€™m resigned to maintaining too as I wonโ€™t drop cals below 1100 ๐Ÿ˜ฌ.

Fingers crossed your therapist replies @SunshineCake ๐ŸคžNice to read you are doing a buffet in prep for family and their friends. A little bit of normality.

OP posts:
SunshineCake1 · 23/04/2022 17:30

That means a lot @TheRealHousewife Thank you. Like a cuddle. The buffet was okay though DS and his friend had had a late breakfast so he didn't have anything but his friend had a bit. Not my best buffet but I only decided this morning I wanted to do one. I'm struggling with the youngest two not eating properly, and more that I am not looking after them properly, so a buffet means lots to chose from.

I have a foot spa @8stone13 but don't use it much tbh.

Talked to DD. Wants to move out, no therapy and no meds. DH and I feel anxious the whole time.

TheRealHousewife · 23/04/2022 17:44

Baby steps @SunshineCake Feeling anxious is very understandable ๐Ÿ’”

AnyoneElseFeelDone · 23/04/2022 19:49

Hi all, just a quick check in.

Managed to more or less eat within 8 hours so hoping to get back to that this week when everyone is back where they should be (work and school).

Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Eesha · 23/04/2022 23:04

TheRealHousewife · 21/04/2022 10:45

@Eesha What about having today as your day zero and take it from there. Have you worked out your TDEE - total daily energy expenditure? The calculator can be useful in working out what cal amount you need to lose.

A couple of links that might be useful/interesting:-
Thyroid & Weight Loss
TDEE Calculator

Hi,

Took everyone's advice and actually I've gone from 94.9 to 92.8 over the last month but only really getting stricter this last week so I would say 2kg in 2 weeks.

I'm having a frittata for breakfast, 2 ryvitas and some cheese for lunch, then dinner anything but in a cereal bowl. I'm upping my walking from 10k steps to 15m steps a day. I do feel better for it but hoping the scales show a bigger improvement soon. I would be happy at 83kg but I know I need to lose at least 10kg more than that.

TheRealHousewife · 24/04/2022 10:07

Good Morning Everyone

That sounds positive @Eesha ๐Ÿ‘

Menu
Meal 1 - Roast chicken dinner (could end up OMAD)
Meal 2 - Cheese, guacamole and veg cruditรฉs (if needed)
Tea, coffee, water.

Enjoy your Sunday ๐Ÿ˜Š

IGaveYouMySnackPack · 24/04/2022 10:20

Hello. Can I join?
I had a baby 3 months ago and still have a stone to lose to get back to my pre pregnancy weight, then at least another stone from there to get to my goal.

I've cancelled my hello fresh for this week and I've dug out my old slimming world recipes from when I followed the plan before I got married. I luckily have gym equipment at home so I can get on them whilst baby naps!

I need some accountability as my motivation has just packed up and left! I'm living in leggings as my jeans don't fit and I refuse to buy the next size up! This weight needs to go!

Weather looking good again this week so nice walks with the pram too!!

Flowers111 · 24/04/2022 11:06

Morning all well as it's the weekend I allowed myself a couple of g&ts last night - didn't over do it but it also led to some Pringles (10 I counted at least !). I've been having red apples when I feel snackish - at least it buys me some time.
I had planned on having cucumber with salt but forgot about that !
Made an amazing quinoa salad with a bit of everything for dinner.
This is how used to do it before years ago - just eat when hungry and make it as low fat as possible. Although my salad had a tahini dressing etc that's all fine.
Problem is my medication messing with my digestion so I'll talk to the doc about an alternative. I literally haven't had a BM in 36 hours (TMI).
Welcome everyone - I can't tag / scroll names in this app !

Crazzzycat · 24/04/2022 11:13

Morning all! Thank you for reassuring me that Iโ€™m still welcome here, even if Iโ€™m just focussing on maintaining & general healthy living for the next few months @TheRealHouseWife and @SunshineCake.

Iโ€™m in awe that youโ€™re persevering with 2022 km in 2022 with everything youโ€™ve got going on Sunshine. Youโ€™ve reminded me that I havenโ€™t even posted my results from last week, so Iโ€™ve quickly added up the numbers and am excited to report that total km until last Sunday came to 1004 km. So, Iโ€™m pretty much half way there ๐Ÿฅณ

Iโ€™m planning to have an โ€œactive rest dayโ€ today, after rowing every day this week. There will some gardening and may be an easy coastal stroll, but not much else. My food plan doesnโ€™t actually look that different from when I was trying to lose, but Iโ€™ve swapped my usual Sunday packet of crisps (which always turns into many more packets of crisps than I had originally planned) for some home-made harissa spiced almonds. A bit more calorific, but also more nutritious.

Welcome to the thread @IGaveYouMySnackPack! And well done on your progress @Eesha. 2kg in 2 weeks is really good progress.

ginsparkles · 24/04/2022 11:18

Hello, just checking in. Managing to maintain but no losses at this point. Planning to get back to the gym this week, although I'll be taking it slowly, hoping that it will give me focus.

TheRealHousewife · 24/04/2022 11:34

A warm welcome @IGaveYouMySnackPack and congratulations on your new baby ๐Ÿ‘ There is so much more pulling on your time when we have little ones to care for. Your plan sounds sensible which Iโ€™m pleased about as you are only 12 weeks postpartum and you will be still healing. Are you BF? (No judgment) If so youโ€™ll know you need extra nutrients. Enjoy your baby ๐Ÿ‘ถ

@Flowers111 Your quinoa salad sounds tasty ๐Ÿ˜‹ TMI โ€ฆ I share your frustrations about going to the loo. Due to my spinal cord injury I donโ€™t go as often as I did prior. Also when taking meds itโ€™s makes it even less frequent ๐Ÿฅด.

@Crazzzycat Enjoy your active rest day (is that an oxymoron ๐Ÿ˜ฌ), youโ€™ve truly deserved it!

Morning! Survived my night out ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ ate lots drank lots and laughed loads! High points included a bar maid announcing she was pissed and closing up before 10pm when the karaoke was in full swing ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ

didnโ€™t weigh this morningโ€ฆ concentrating on rehydrating myself ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

work in a bit so fingers crossed everything goes ok and I can leave early ๐Ÿ˜Š

lots of love to everyone especially @SunshineCake ๐Ÿ’•

8stone13 · 24/04/2022 12:09

Sun 24th April - 9s 5 & 1/4lb
BMI 21.7
BF 24.6

Tempted to post a photo of myself as I look so slim! Third night of salty food last night though, plus am due on, so water retention is a factor.

I've just had chocolate - dealing with a 9 year old in tears over maths homework drove me to it - no regrets ๐Ÿ˜€

IGaveYouMySnackPack · 24/04/2022 14:00

@TheRealHousewife thank you ๐Ÿฅฐ I've finished breastfeeding now. I just hope I lose a few lbs this week as it will spur me on to keep going!!

buzzofthebumblebee · 24/04/2022 14:27

Just catching-up on thread whilst eating a lovely breakfast / lunch / brunch of eggs, spinach & avocado on toast. Delicious. Extra large portion to celebrate completing a 10 km race this morning. I was so nervous (weird as I know I can run 10). Started too quick but kept with it and completed it in under 57 mins. I am amazed and delighted with myself !! Looking forward to Netflix binge this eve ( Bridgerton ).

@8stone13 - congrats on feeling great (despite bloat) and not beating yourself up about chocolate.

Nice to see you @Crazzzycat - and amazing stats - over 1000 km this year already? I only count km on my strata - so running, proper walks, and bike rides (so not just general day-t-day steps). Will check my tally later.

Sending warm wishes your way @SunshineCake1

Hello to everyone else, and big squeeze to your new baby Igaveyou

SunshineCake1 · 24/04/2022 14:54

Good luck for this week @AnyoneElseFeelDone .

Congratulations on your baby @IGaveYouMySnackPack just take it steady. Make sure you look after yourself as well as your baby.

Thank you @HouseofHolbein and glad you had a nice evening.

That chocolate is calorie free @8stone13

Thank you @buzzofthebumblebee hope you are well.

I have walked the dog, had a rubbish run/walk on the treadmill then did some gardening. Not doing much else as the kids woke me up at midnight and I didn't sleep well after.

TheRealHousewife · 24/04/2022 15:39

Afternoon All

Sounds like a proper night out got cut short @HouseofHolbein. I bet the barmaids hangover is worse than yours ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿฅด.

I bet you look great @8stone13 ๐Ÿ‘.

@IGaveYouMySnackPack Yes it is motivating when the numbers drop๐ŸคžYouโ€™ll get there!

That is a delicious breakfast @buzzofthebumblebee ... I love avocado ๐Ÿฅ‘ So tasty, full of fibre and good fats and so good for us.

Right Iโ€™m off to enjoy my Roast Chicken dinner ๐Ÿฝ Chat later.
