Hard to believe itโ€™s April already ๐Ÿ˜ฎ. Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day.

Are you in๐Ÿ˜Š What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Morning all, welcome to newbies that I haven't yet greeted ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿป

@SunshineCake1 Yes that does sound like shock. Unsurprising really. I hope DH has a decent birthday ๐ŸŽ‚ ๐ŸŽ

Tues 19th April - 9s 4 & 3/4lb
BMI 21.6
BF 24.3

If any of you know what's going on then you're doing better than me! I ate very little yesterday. I really think it's the temperature shift - my house is so much warmer, haven't needed the heating for ages & I'm dressing far more like summer. Still feeling very slim & my clothes are actually loose on me! So I might have to psychologically let go of the scales for a while... ๐Ÿค”

8stone13 · 19/04/2022 09:00

@TheRealHousewife Hope you are feeling better ๐Ÿคง

Crazzzycat · 19/04/2022 10:59

@8stone13, unless you made a mistake when posting your stats last week, it looks to me like your scales might be a little bit dodgy. One day last week your BF was 25.3, now itโ€™s 24.3. That a big change over just a few days, so I think thereโ€™s got to be an error somewhere?! My scales occasionally give surprise readings too. Itโ€™s almost like theyโ€™re programmed to keep us on our toes ๐Ÿ˜‚

Do your scales give you a water percentage? If your weight is affected by the warmer temperatures Iโ€™d expect to see water percentage go up. I know some people are very sensitive to increases in temperature, so itโ€™s definitely a possibility.

I had my lovely Easter lunch yesterday, but now Iโ€™m left with lots and lots of tasty leftovers, that I donโ€™t know the calories of...Iโ€™m torn between chucking them, which would be so wasteful and having them for my dinner today. Most of it was vegetable dishes, with nuts and spices etc, plus a lovely spinach & feta filo pie (relatively low cal). Choices, choices ๐Ÿค”

In other news, Iโ€™ve been thinking about what to do now that my rowing challenge has finished. Iโ€™ve found a 12 week rowing programme, designed by an Olympic rower, so Iโ€™m going to start that today!

First thing I needed to do was work out how fast I can row 2km, which I did yesterday. I was kind of dreading that, thanks to years and years of โ€œcharacter buildingโ€ PE session, where I always came last at everything and shitty teachers who were convinced that was down to a lack of effort. Such a crappy thing to say to kids who are giving it everything, but just werenโ€™t born to be sprinters ๐Ÿ˜’ Anyway, it turns out that my rowing time is above average for my age! Only by the tinsiest, tiniest bit, but I donโ€™t really care about that. To be above average at anything physical, even if itโ€™s by the tiniest margin, pleases me no end!

AnyoneElseFeelDone · 19/04/2022 11:15

Thanks, thinking of you all today @SunshineCake1

Very stressful day so far so doesn't bode well. Know small changes add up so will do what I can.

ImALittlePea · 19/04/2022 12:32

I've just come back on after a few days offline and caught up.

Huge hugs to you and your family @SunshineCake1. While I'm very relieved that you have finally seen your DD, of course the circumstances are awful for you. I'm glad she's currently in the right place and I hope you get some answers soon. Agree with @8stone13 about getting some more support for yourself, too. And I hope your DH has as happy a birthday as is possible.

I hope you're feeling better this week, @TheRealHousewife

I haven't gone near the scales since my surprise loss last Thursday. The weekend was one of indulgence, making up for missed birthday plans etc. I'm in London this weekend to see one of my best, oldest friends for the first time since early 2020, so I'm going to try and be on my best behaviour in the kitchen but I haven't yet decided whether to weigh on Friday or not. Probably should, but tempted to just bury my head in the sand and focus on getting back on it in May.

TurtlesAndTropicalFish · 19/04/2022 12:36

Can I please join?

Iโ€™m 5ft 3 and 10st 9lb. My happy weight is 9 stone 3lb. I have put on a lot of weight from 2 IVF cycles and a recent miscarriage. Want to reset myself for fun summer holidays with DD and DH. Itโ€™s all about the beach body for me this summer. Want to focus on something positive!

8stone13 · 19/04/2022 12:49

Welcome @TurtlesAndTropicalFish ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿป

So sorry to hear about your recent miscarriage. You sound like you have a fantastic attitude, I'm sure you'll find lots of support here for your weight loss. You'll be looking like Ursula Andress in a bikini in no time ๐Ÿ˜‰

@Crazzzycat To be honest my stats have often gone a bit wonky, I don't know what's more strange - my weight or my scales! My water seems to have reduced, & I feel dehydrated (always happens to me when I'm away.) I can easily put 2-3lb on overnight when the weather warms up & lose it as quickly as soon as we have a cold snap. I definitely look visibly thinner than I did this time last week!

buzzofthebumblebee · 19/04/2022 13:27

I had a tech free Easter - so just checking in now, and very upset to read your latest updates @SunshineCake1 Can't imagine your turmoil. Sending you much love and courage and strength.

Big hello to everyone else, and to the new people. Love your positivity @TurtlesAndTropicalFish after what sounds to have been stressful time. Hope you feel better soon @TheRealHousewife

Will be back later ; )

buzzofthebumblebee · 19/04/2022 16:16

Back again! I've just input my day's food into MFP and it totals 1415. I've already had an apple, and input my dinner. So nothing left for snacks. I need to get back down to 11 2 by the end of the month at the very least. So that means no snacking, 1400 / day, and keeping the daily steps and exercise up.

I've run 5km this morning, and got pilates this evening, so that's all good.

I did indulge over the Easter weekend, but stopped now. And it's only 19th April, not 29th, so plenty of April left to salvage some form of weight loss (instead of gain).

(interestingly my MFP stats had recorded that I was 182 lbs last summer - I'm currently about 162 lbs - so taking that as a huge motivational positive (rather than concentrate on my recent 6lb re-gain)).

Self-indulgent post, apologies, but need to get back on it.

Flowers111 · 19/04/2022 16:17

Thanks for the advice sunshine re scales.
Just back from a cycle and horrified by a set of pics DH took.
Did some rough measurements appear to have 44in waist, 41in hips, thighs at fattest 25in. How did I get myself here. I don't think it's food as much as wine tbh...
some of my bloat is chronic digestive issues/ unresolved food allergies - always had it nothing ever works. But that's an excuse !

buzzofthebumblebee · 19/04/2022 17:00

Welcome Flowers111. You are here now, amongst a supportive group, and you have made the mental step to address your weight which is the hardest part ! So huge well done. In curiosity (solidarity?!) - I have just measured my own thigh, which is also 25" !!

Flowers111 · 19/04/2022 17:21

Grinthanks ! I think I'm about the same weight too -12st4 give or take about 5/6 lbs in any one week Hmmusually lower though.

SunshineCake1 · 19/04/2022 17:43

Hi. I've read everything but forgotten it immediately.

DD very cross we didn't bring her home. Doctor said she has to be released on Friday anyway. Currently they are trying to get at home MN services in place for her and we are expecting her to be discharged tomorrow.

Dh and I expect the first time she can't do what she wants she will leave and she will not keep in touch. She doesn't want help and she has only said she will engage to get out of hospital. Then saying minutes later she won't talk to them and doesn't want them texting her.

It is all rubbish.

MistySkiesAfterRain · 19/04/2022 18:30

Somehow up from 11st 3 to 11st 4.2. Will see what tomorrow brings. Started NHS Couch to 5km. I need to be very disciplined with my calories from next week. I worked out I lost 11lbs in 8.5 weeks. I feel like I have been watching my weight forever. God this is slow!

fallfallfall · 19/04/2022 19:11

Hello to the new and rejoining people :).
So dh had a mild version of covid and mine is equally simple although my cough is lingering and this morning i've noticed a cold sore :(, i'm sure the opthomologist who will be doing my laser procedure won't be pleased, but if i wear a mask maybe no one will question it...
minor issues aside food and exercise are going well and i'm holding 157 despite ham nightly and i know the salt will not be helping but the lean protein probably is.
expecting to see 156 more often. i've seen 156.7 and 156.5 a few times now.

TurtlesAndTropicalFish · 19/04/2022 19:13

Thank you ๐Ÿ˜Š @8stone13 and @buzzofthebumblebee

So today Iโ€™ve been very good.

I had a grilled tomato on toast for brekfast

For lunch I had a fruit salad including mango, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, banana

For dinner I had two boiled eggs, kidney beans, lettuce, cucumber, carrots, red cabbage, celery.

Iโ€™m on a strict 7 day diet which is high in fruit, veg and protein. I have a splitting headache but paracetamol has helped.

1 day down! Iโ€™m going to bed at the same time as DD so I canโ€™t eat tonight!!!

DrRuthGalloway · 19/04/2022 20:29

Day 1 done here....kind of

Breakfast - fast 800 smoothie (190 cal if I had used semi skimmed milk. I used almond, so a little less).

Lunch - in a huge rush so tuna salad tin thing (

fallfallfall · 19/04/2022 21:34

@DrRuthGalloway, i really enjoyed my months on the ONLINE fast 800 program.
i'm happy when i put together something i know is low carb and healthy.

SanFranBear · 19/04/2022 21:51

Hello you lovely bunch.. been very much off plan the last couple of days. It was my best friend's birthday on Easter Sunday with a huge party and bbq and waaaay too much vodka. Hangover so hideous that yesterday was a right off - barely ate though so that was something. Then today was spent at a theme park with DC - I took my own lunch but did have ice-creams and chocolate. Ah well - I've been on it for months and had some lovely compliments on Sunday so back to it tomorrow.

DC away for a couple of nights so will head back out for a couple of hefty hikes to reset my mind a little.

Hope your DH had a lovely day today despite everything that's been going on, Sunshine. It sounds so worrying and I can't imagine how stressed you all are. I echo everyone about seeking out support for yourself and I hope DD comes home and stays home Flowers

Turtles and DrRuth - you sound like you're off to a blinder.. Once you get into the swing of it, you'll soon start to see results.

Crazzzycat - very impressed with your rowing and that you're going to try an Olympians programme! Very best of luck - are you tempted to get out on actual water and try it?

fallfall - a mask will work wonders for you.

Hope you're feeling better, RealHousewife.. colds can really knock you for six.

Right - I best get back to herding my small ones into bed, so I can basically get in myself. I'll hopefully be a bit more active again now as need your lovely support to keep me on the straight and narrow Smile

TheRealHousewife · 20/04/2022 09:05

Good Morning All

Feel like Iโ€™ve been hit by a truck. Cold went to my chest and with the coughing Iโ€™ve pulled my back. Face looks like pizza with blemishes and spots. To say the least I look and feel a bit rough.

My MN layout has all changed on the iPad. Anyone else? I canโ€™t set view to 100, which I found useful to read and reply. My typing box is tiny and unable to add photos ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ Iโ€™m not liking it. I will fire up laptop and see if thatโ€™s any better.

Pleased to read @SunshineCake1 @SunshineGone (have you changed name) has located and seen daughter and I have everything crossed that she accesses the support she desperately needs. I heard Tom Walkers Leave a Light On the other day. Listening to the lyrics made me think of you and your family & DD and I must say it brought a tear or two ๐Ÿ’”

Will try to catch up later with thread and be a more supportive host than of late.

Menu
Meal 1 - Halloumi stir fry.
Meal 2 - Freezer lucky dip โ€ฆ I took an unmarked container out. I do like a surprise ๐Ÿ˜ฌ. Whatever it is will serve with spicy Cauli rice.
Tea, coffee, water, pear.

Hello all

@SunshineCake1 thanks for the tag and dragging me back. Pleased to see you have seen DD, even though it seems things are still not plain sailing. Sending love to you, my DB was similar to your DD, so I empathise.

I haven't been on board because my heads not in the right spot. I don't know why but I just can't get myself back at it. I have a good day and then three awful ones. Any progress from the start of the month has gone into chocolate eggs and wine. I have to do something to shake it up. I need to get back to the gym, but worried the lungs won't take it. Not been able to go riding either as there are no slots left for grown ups during the school hols.

So I need to be better, I need to be accountable. I will post daily, I will keep on track.

8stone13 · 20/04/2022 09:20

Morning all ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿป

@TheRealHousewife You poor thing. Hope you feel better soon ๏ฟผ

The update seems to have played havoc with my Mumsnet. My posts aren't shown in red anymore, they're just the same as the rest, & no-one's namechecks seem active to me looking at recent posts. The amount of advertising on the desktop site is insane - I can barely read threads for it. And I'm getting tons of notifications on threads I've vaguely watched some time ago, & can't find a way to switch them off without switching everything off (I want to know if someone's name checked me on here so I can reply to you lovely lot ๐Ÿ™‚) I'm pretty good with this level of tech so I don't think it's me...

Anyway, here are my irritating/baffling stats:

Weds 20th April - 9s 5lb
BMI 21.6
BF 24.4

Ate little yesterday, went to bed hungry, woke hungry, clothes are loose & I look visibly smaller. Bonkers!

8stone13 · 20/04/2022 09:20

And it wouldn't let me post or do anything on the app until I'd logged out & back in again just then ๐Ÿค”

ginsparkles · 20/04/2022 09:26

@8stone13 I had the same issues with it this morning too! I thought I had lost you all!

Crazzzycat · 20/04/2022 09:42

@8stone13 and anyone else who doesnโ€™t like their posts appearing in the same colour as TheRealHouseWifeโ€™s, you can change that!

Go (almost) to the top of the screen and click on the downward facing arrow next to Talk, then go to customise and you can change the colour in which your posts appear.
