But I've decided to give it a go

The food is the sort of stuff I like to eat although I'll have to make some substitutes as I'm a vegetarian. But I love Bircher, porridge, all her snacks and salads etc

I'm starting tomorrow and wondered if anyone had some advice regarding the method or stories

Thanks!

Thank you @HardRockOwl. I wish her book included a clear list of exactly which foods to eat/ avoid instead of trying to work it out from the recipes.

Pumpkin2901 · 08/04/2022 09:09

This is such a supportive thread! I've weighed myself this morning and am 2.5lbs down since Monday. Very pleased with that. Hoping this is a new way of life. The food has been enjoyable and I like the fact we get to have snacks.

The download link was very helpful with portion sizes, e.g. I noticed the recipes were usually for 4 people and with things like feta and halloumi I'd use the amount she suggested for 2 of us, so using twice as much as she suggests. Definitely an eye opener!

HardRockOwl · 08/04/2022 09:28

Morning all

Another day at it! I'm really going for a good loss this week so sticking to plan as much as I can!

Breakfast is ..

Porridge oats+ oat bran
Oat milk
Pinch of cinnamon + nutmeg
GOOD vanilla paste
Greek yogurt
Frozen dark cherries

Louise Parker method anyone? I know it's a bit old fashioned now ..

That's a great loss @Pumpkin2901 well done.

Portions are a bit eye opening aren't they? Ive never been one for huge meals but I'm definitely one for huge snacks! I just don't feel hungry on this plan though. I just flick through the books, I choose what I like, I get ingredients and I make it. It is really doable for me

However it's made easier by the fact that although I have a family, I can cook for them separately and this is the norm as I'm vegetarian and they're not. So I'll usually do dinner for them at 6pm ish and I'll eat when i fancy it

Morning all,

Coffee and banana for breakfast
Then went on a lovely canal boat with DH and dog. Stopped for a toasted tea cake so fell out the circle!
Will have my smoothie later and then stew for dinner. Will try not to have my snacks today to make up for the tea cake earlier.

EssexLioness · 08/04/2022 12:30

Well done on your loss @Pumpkin2901. That’s a great start!

NinetyNineRedBalloonsGoBy · 08/04/2022 18:06

Hi all can I join? This is such an inspirational thread! Planning to start my super strict 42 days on bank holiday Monday so just reading all I can atm

HardRockOwl · 08/04/2022 18:12

@NinetyNineRedBalloonsGoBy of course you can join! Welcome. Have you got the books yet?

I've had another good day I think.

Food times ..

Porridge with cherries + Greek yogurt

Hot chocolate as my snack - I used a teaspoon of dark chocolate sugar free powder in oat milk and it frothed up nicely in the Velvetiser

Hummus, carrot sticks + quorn for lunch (this was rubbish tbh!)

2 tablespoons of nuts

Feta, goats cheese, cucumber + salad leaves drizzled in balsamic vinegar.

So that's me done for the day. I also ordered some ridiculously expensive Waterdrop stuff so I've been getting my water in today - I struggle with that usually because, well, I'd rather have a Diet Coke!

HardRockOwl · 08/04/2022 18:15

@EssexLioness sounds like some good damage limitation there. And you're allowed to step outside of the circle!

Im going to a friends little 50th get together on Monday evening - his wife is just getting pizzas in. Do this could be a slight issue.

I've decided I won't 'step outside' the circle and therefore I won't eat any pizza. Reason being is, that for me, I'm very 'all or nothing' and I don't want pizza to knock me off track for now. So the plan is to have a Diet Coke and trust that no one will actually be too bothered about me and what I'm eating or not eating. It isn't a sit down meal, just grab pizza slices from dominos I imagine so that's the plan

EssexLioness · 08/04/2022 18:58

Well I have to be honest, the damage limitation didn’t happen.. ended up going to the chippy for dinner! 😬 I only got a little sleep last night and it’s left me with zero motivation today. Back on track tomorrow!

PushingAnElephantUpTheStairs · 08/04/2022 20:28

Hi everyone, that's my books finally arrived and I've had a good look through them. I have plans over the weekend so I'm going to make Monday the start of my prep week and have a go at some of the recipes and things next week while I'm on holiday.

Do you start the day with the icky sounding lukewarm lemony water thing? I'm not a fan of hot/warm drinks so I'd really rather not.😂🙈

There are lots of recipes I really like the look of. Workday breakfasts will be the hardest I think because I usually don't bother or wait until I'm at work and there's no way I'm laying a table there.😂 I guess the Bircher will be the easiest to take with me. Maybe I could buy an extra fancy 'good' tub for it? 😆

EssexLioness · 08/04/2022 20:33

No I don’t do the lemon in water thing as my dentist actually advises against it as it can damage the enamel.

HardRockOwl · 08/04/2022 21:40

@EssexLioness god I love chips from a chippy! And there's always tomorrow.

No, I wouldn't start the day with lemon in hot water. I really subscribe to all Louise says, more or less, but lemon in hot water is just faddy and won't detox/ burn fat quicker / taste nice Grin

HardRockOwl · 08/04/2022 21:43

I've prepped breakfast for tomorrow

Oat bran
Dark chocolate powder
Soya yogurt
Vanilla paste
Little stevia
Topped with strawberries

And I'm thinking of having the sweet omelette for lunch for a change

My preparing hasn’t gone terribly well this week: I had 2 slices of toast and a cup of tea for dinner last night Confused

Work has been too busy, home is too busy… So going to regroup this weekend and get back in the circle ⭕️

ElvenDreamer · 09/04/2022 10:07

Hi all, sorry, been a bit absent. I will also be regrouping! This week I've had some work in the evening which is always tricky as I arrive home at 11 hungry, and then having a snack opens the floodgates and I eat all kinds of crap. Managed better last night by having a snack at tea time then my tea when I got home starving. Last gig tonight so hoping to sleep lots on Sunday as tiredness is definitely not helping and then reset. I also like to have a 6 week menu plan but somewhere along the lone I hadn't prepped the next one so had a week or 2 of winging it, another job for Sunday is to sit down and do a 6 week plan and get back in control.

RinklyRomaine · 09/04/2022 11:34

I don't think I'm going to be able to start Monday, we have loads of plans this week and I just don't think I'm going to manage it.

I'm still BF my 20m old, he can be a greedy bugger. On WW I just allow myself an extra few points - would an extra snack or just slightly larger main meal do it with this do we think?

HardRockOwl · 09/04/2022 11:36

@RinklyRomaine honestly, I think you'd find it more than enough food, even when breast feeding. You have the option to make snacks and meals jslightly bigger and add in 'extra energy sides' so I think it would suit you perfectly - but only when you're ready of course! You really can 'eat to appetite' on this plan.

HowFascinating · 09/04/2022 11:38

I also don't like the lemon in water - either for taste or dental health reasons- but she does say to drink it before you clean your teeth in the morning.

HardRockOwl · 09/04/2022 11:44

Ahhhh I'm having a wobble and this is what I ALWAYS do in week 2 of any plan! Every single time.

Nothing has happened - only in my head. I had a sneaky weigh in this morning - although won't record until Monday - and I'm a total of 10 lbs down in about 11 days on plan. In my head - this isn't good enough! Because yesterday I was half a lb lighter and now I've fluctuated up a bit.

The sane side of my brain knows I am doing absolutely fine. But I feel frustrated because I'm quite a bit overweight for what I should be ( a good couple of stone and if I'm honest, I could lose 3 stone from my starting weight and hardly end up a wafer!) so it suddenly feels like a big hill to climb.

Anyway - what options do I have? Feel sorry for myself and eat a load of cakes today? Write off the weekend? I know I can't.

So I've had the vegan chocolate bircher thing with strawberries for breakfast and just had my snack which was one Ryvita with almond butter and sliced banana. Lunch will be quinoa salad with feta I think but not sure on that yet

Made myself 600 mls of water and will try and banish these negative thoughts which ALWAYS happen in week 2. Every single time.

HardRockOwl · 09/04/2022 11:45

What do you do for work @ElvenDreamer ? That does sound tough - I'm a nightmare if I allow myself to get hungry or if I'm working at odd times

Regrouping sounds like a good idea - get that headspace back

HardRockOwl · 09/04/2022 11:46

@Sutra back into the ⭕️ you come!

ElvenDreamer · 09/04/2022 11:51

I'm a music teacher and musician, I don't do masses of performing but it comes in clusters and is every night this week, I'm always so buzzy when I get in I cant go straight to bed, the no alcohol thing has also definitely not happened 🤣 2 shows today so not going to kid myself about anything as there will be a band meal between the 2, back in the circle tomorrow though. @HardRockOwl totally get the week 2 feeling, try not to weight yourself again for another week at least, and switch up your focus this week maybe, look into buying yourself a nice perfume, or focus on skin care routine or something, I'm not really a pampery type person but I find that it helps to feel like I'm focusing on my health or whatever without fixating on weight.

TheWreathLady · 09/04/2022 11:52

Hi everyone, I hope it's OK to join you. I've been lurking and reading all your posts since page 1 and I've reached the point where I think some support would help! I've been doing the plan for five weeks this weekend. I borrowed two of her books from the library and thought yes, this is the food combo I like and know works. I hate calorie counting and refuse to do it! I'm in my 50s and peri-menopausal and haven't really got much to lose weight-wise if I'm honest. I've been more keen to monitor the inches off my waist etc and prefer to do it that way. It's been really, really slow.... I'm on the verge of wondering why I am denying myself sugar for such slow results. Probably three pounds in 5 weeks! My waist has shrunk a bit but stomach measurements very minimal. I'm finding it easy to stick to the plan food-wise and do hard kettlebells training two or three times a week. I know I should be exercising and fat burning every day but I'm not and that is possibly where the problem lies! I used to be able to shift the body fat really quickly but, good god, it's not so easy now. I've got a rare holiday in the sun booked in August and my goal is to just be able to feel my absolute fittest and best on it. My 42 day thing finishes Easter weekend and I've definitely not got where I want to be. Sorry for waffling on!

HardRockOwl · 09/04/2022 11:56

@ElvenDreamer ooh a music teacher! That sounds brilliant. I wish I was musical .. although I can play anything you ask me to on a piano? With two fingers. I believe it's called playing by ear but in my case, it's painful and slow 😀 ok the same with a recorder too. Remember those?!

Now, the pampering thing is something I have down to a fine art. I work in the beauty industry and I produce beauty boxes as part of what I do - so to say I'm drowning in perfume, skin care and make up is putting it mildly! It's my passion in life this stuff and I'm always treating myself too

Maybe I need to treat myself MORE?!!
