First weigh in on the 2nd as we will be visiting family on the 1st.

Regulation exercise is out for medical reasons and that I can't be out of earshot of DH at any time. Can't even carry a mobile as we have no signal for a radius of about 5 miles.

But I do have a lovely big garden with lots I can do to it, even in the depths of winter.

I will be glad to lose 4lbs by the end of Jan, so 7lbs would be a bonus.

pollywollybauble · 30/12/2007 20:59

i'm with you discoverlife....all along i've been a bit of a slowcoach on the weightloss front ...slow but steady...

i'm trying for the drink more water,
cut out/down the crap but don't make myself miserable (need my nescafe cappuccino in the eve and like to pick if hubby goes to the chippy)

put everything i eat on a plate or in a bowl,

use small bowls for breakfast...the amount of cereal i'd crept up to eating was incredible!

try to make small sustainable changes to what i eat (eg low fat spread/milk)....major overhauls don't really work for me....having said that i found chocolate and baileys a bit heavy going at xmas (but i persevered )

i'm also on for a weigh in on the 2nd

anyway, we'll draw a veil over today as we had the family and godparents round for dd's birthday party....buffet and cakes.....still i think i ate less than i would have in years gone by...dd had a great time

and tommorrow is my 46th birthday and a friend is giving me a party...so more of the same to celebrate sliding over the hill

katy does watching action films that raise your heartrate count as excercise

pollywollybauble · 30/12/2007 21:03

discover...i also can't do much in the way of ordinary excercise (i have ms and my walking and balance are crap) but i've been doing some excercises to strengthen my stomach "corset" muscles....and dd and i hand jive for england whats up with your hubby? (if thats not being to nosy )

pollywollybauble · 30/12/2007 21:05

katy glad to hear that you look hot for your party

Hello all

Please can I join you...?

I need/want to lose at least 2.5stone so I can feel good about myself again and wear clothes that I like rather than just settling for anything big enough to fit

I'm doing a 600km charity cycle ride in August so if I can stick with the training I'm hoping the weight will start to drop without starving myself and obsessing about points/calories etc. Obviously need to eat healthily too

Planning on ridding the house of choc/nuts etc by 2 Jan

Actually started training tonight with 10km on DH's spinning bike, so quite pleased with myself. Could feel norks swinging as I pedalled

fedda · 30/12/2007 22:21

What are your plans for restarting the diet? I'm going to have soups for lunch and salads with my main meals. I hope it will help. It's not strict and it might help me to stick to it. All the other things I've tried worked short term but then I was getting fed up (or should I say fedda up?)

MUMOFDJandP · 30/12/2007 22:30

Hi all the prob is I dont know what to do to lose weight as have no will power at the mo.....

can we discuss options?

fedda · 30/12/2007 22:39

I know what I'd like to avoid - I don't want to start a diet and not stick to it as the moment i stop it I'll feel bad about myself. I'd like to find a clever way of eating which helps loose weight while enjoy the life and not being and nuisance for the family. In the past the idea of increasing fruit and veg really helped. The problem is though is i eat a lot of fruit and veg to satisfy my appitite and when the fruit and veg isn't there here comes the replacement...

Jahan · 30/12/2007 23:19

My plan is;
Cut out all rubbish, processed food,
eat 3 meals a day plus mid morning and afternoon snack which is fruit and/or nuts,
ensure meals have loads of veg and portions of anything else are 'normal'
some form of exercise every day. I have a couple of dvds and will be going for long walks,
drink lots of water,
and the most important one - NO SNACKING OR PICKING AFTER DINNER! (thats my downfall!)

Fedda - your plan sounds good.
Amazoniawoman- I'm v.impressed with your charity cycle ride. Its great to have a goal like that. I think you'll lose that 2.5 stone in no time.

fedda · 30/12/2007 23:45

jahan, I have to snack after dinner but I'll try my best to snack on fruit, veg or unsalted nuts.

PussInBootsWithClaws · 31/12/2007 00:01

T'is DP's birthday today and I think I have eaten my own body weight in sugary crap. I am going to have such a bad sugar crash when I start on the healthy stuff.

Am going to need many a kick up the backside come next week

Think I'll give the nork swinging a miss though, with mine I'd probably give myself a black eye and swipe the cat into the next county. And I haven't even had any children yet so hate to imagine what they'll be like post children

discoverlife · 31/12/2007 00:14

Hi Pollywobble, DH has severe Rhumatiod Artritis, with bone damage to all toes, both ankles, and starting on his knees, the specialist is talking about knee replacement. Also bone damage to fingers, and wrists and severe pain in elbows and pain in shoulders. Luckily he is a skinny little runt so not much trouble with lifting etc. Also he has a fantastic sense of humour. eg. He hobbled over to me the other morning and put his arms around from behind me for a grope of my norks and said 'Don't resist'.
I suffer from Stress incontinence which puts paid to all organised exercise except aqua aerobics, but the pool is 16 miles away. And now I have come down with a frozen shoulder, which I have been warned will get worse before it will get better and take up to 2 years to be flexible again. I can't undo my &%$£$%& bra any more, and of course neither can DH.
I also am in my mid 40's, 44 to be exact.

mylittlepudding · 31/12/2007 05:17

Wow! What busyness! I have read it all but stand no chance of remembering everything to reply to.

I like pollywollydwindle, but also discoverlife has renamed you pollywobble. Maybe pollylesswobble?

My plan is:
eat a normal-ish breakfast at a normal-ish time.
smaller portions at other mealtimes (sharing with dd at lunch helps - think that was an idea I had from here)
if I feel hungry between meals, drink a whole glass of water first. If still hungry after that, can have something to eat.
reduce temptations in the house
no wine
aerobic exercise daily, usually from a walk whilst wearing 17lbs of baby

Will try for 7lb loss by the end of Jan, whoever said that.

katylessbumpy · 31/12/2007 09:30

wow i go to bed and you all wake up!!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY POLLYWOLLY.!!!!!21 AGAIN

i'm going to watch my portion sizes and walk more for the first couple of weeks.a trick i have learnt for not eating at night is to do your nails or have along soak in the bath.also not having the food in to nibble really helps
ok,last day of the year.....lets !paaaaaaartaaaaayyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(i like !!! today)

.....Happy birthday, dear Pollywolly, Happy birthday to yoooooooou. Hope you have a good day.

I have had my breakfast (cereal and coffee) and did an online shop. I have ordered only necessities and healthy foods. Loads of fruit and veg.
I am so looking forward to losing weight!
My jeans will be so much looser by the end of January. When that happens, its such a fantastic feeling!
Fedda - When I feel that I have to snack after dinner, I eat grapes. It always seems boring but I always enjoy them and feel so happy afterwards that I didn't eat rubbish.
Discoverlife - sorry to hear about yours and your dh's ailments. I hope you get better soon.

discoverlife · 31/12/2007 11:28
