pollywollybauble · 29/12/2007 23:57

sounds like this might be an ideal moment for a photo of you in swimwear on your fridge as a motivator mumof!

pollywollybauble · 29/12/2007 23:59

hi puss course you can...nothing like a good goal to aim at!

have to go to bed now, night night

PussInBootsWithClaws · 30/12/2007 00:01

Night pollywolly

Only 2 more days to eat all the nice fattening food I love then nothing but rabbit food healthy salads

discoverlife · 30/12/2007 00:52

Help... what do I do with the still unopened whole Christmas cake? DH bought 2 because this is the first year he found proper royal iceing on a cake so he wanted both.
He is also a skinny so an so who can sometimes eat me under the table, depending on his pain level of course.

discoverlife · 30/12/2007 00:55

First day of diet will probably be 1 apple & half a banana mixed in with very low fat youghurt and a touch of sweetener, followed by home made tomato soup, shame about the lack of a whole part baked bagette though. Bread is my downfall.

giveusaclue · 30/12/2007 01:16

Can I join too? More stones to lose than I care to count and, if saggy boobs were my only problem I would be nork swinging in my tiny overlooked suburban garden right now but I need to start somewhere...

katylessbumpy · 30/12/2007 08:50

pollywollydwindle! i love it!!
glad you survived the outlaws, the nightie sounds nice in an odd sort of way
pmsl at pygmy cocks.our dh's are lovely blokes aren't they

unopened christmas cake will keep til next christmas discoverlife.just get your bestfriend/someone who won't sabotage your plans ie not dh to hide it from you

welcome aboard giveusaclue.

shall we break the weight loss down into smaller chunks?
say 7lbs as goal to aim for by the end of january .then if you achieve more it's a bonus and nowhere near as daunting as 2 stone or more.

andfranksentthis · 30/12/2007 09:37

morning all my lovely new friends . Why oh why can't I be a morning person? I have been reading till 1 am every night this last week and been getting up later and later in the morning (lucky dds are 11 and 15) and have zilch willpower or even interest in losing weight for about 1 hour after waking up. My sweet coffee had hit the spot before I remembered it was going to be 1 not 2 sugars.

How do you convince your brain/taste buds that you don't really like butter, full cream milk, sweet coffee or cheese (not to even mention fresh bread and croissants)

Sorry about the moan. I am really not good in the mornings.

katylessbumpy · 30/12/2007 10:11

ok dd asleep
portion size....
lean meat, chicken, medium portion is about the size of a pack of cards
bread wholemeal or brown ,1 slice
rice and pasta medium portion about the size of a tennis ball
jacket potato medium portion about the size of a lightbulb
lowfat spread is half a teaspoon per portion
obviously these are rough guides so you don't have to weigh or measure.
vegetables you can eat freely as long as you don't add fat and fruit ditto apart from bananas as they have slightly more calories but are still miles better than a marsbar
8 glasses of water aday or 2 litres whichever way you do it.
20 mins of excercise a day, walking, housework, anything that raises your heart rate.
common sense comes into it alot with portion size.i think if you fill at least half your plate with veg/salad and the rest with good ,fresh food then your on your way.
if only i could follow my own advice

andfranksentthis you will begin to crave healthier foods.once you've been doing it a week or so you will be able to feel the grease in your mouth when you eat chips etc.
trust me

Im aiming for a Paul Mckenna sort of non-diet, if that makes sense - stopping when Im no longer hungry, more ex, that sort of thing.

I cant bear "diet" food with sweeteners nd stuff in it! I eat loads of veg because I like them - then spoil it with choc or crisps.

What I really need to do is give up the crisps - I honestly would prefer a packet of kettle chips to a bottle of wine!

And i need to drink more. water, that is. I forget to drink when Im busy, and because I dont drink tea or coffee, I dont have drink breaks as such.

Are we going to have a weigh in?

I dont mind doing that online - wont have to put up with a sucking of air through the teeth if i put on 1/2 pound, which I got at WW!

discoverlife · 30/12/2007 11:14

I have a pile of Slimming Wrld stuff in e-mailable format if anyone wants them I can e-mail them to you. Its recipes and the basic points values and the sins ect. also the work-sheet to list everything you eat during the day. Its all old stuff from when I last seriously wanted to diet, about 10 years ago. But it should still work.

discoverlife · 30/12/2007 11:21

I agree with the changing taste buds. I find that once I start, I find sweets chocolates etc are way too sweet. In fact I have had to push away a desert apple once as it was too sweet. I now also can't drink tea with full fat milk, it tastes sour, and all those globules of fat floating on the surface turn my stomach.
But I do love crispy fat on bacon, and a jacket potato, if its plain, just has to have butter. But those are small things to fit into a diet, if I banned them I would be miserable.

Jahan · 30/12/2007 15:14

Wow. Lots of newcomers to share, praise, encourage and nag with!
Hi!
I think the 7lb aim for the end of Jan is an excellent idea so I'll join in with that.
So whoever wants to join in with that, shall we all weigh on the 1st of Jan then?

Fubsyinapeartree · 30/12/2007 16:32

Sounds like a good idea.

naturopath · 30/12/2007 17:19

ok, today I had an apple and cereal for breakfast and smoked salmon sandwich on brown bread for lunch.
Also a couple of pieces of chocolate and a nutty cruch bar.

Must have veggies for supper.

Haven't dared weigh myself.

katylessbumpy · 30/12/2007 17:23

Decided to bite the bullet and am going for my first ww weigh in on the 3rd - haven't weighed myself for at least 4 or 5 months so am prepared for a shock.......eeek!!!

Am going for a nice meal with the family tomorrow so will make the most of it before healthy eating kicks in - easier to think of it as healthy eating and not diet!!

7lbs by the end of Jan sounds like a more do-able chunk.

Sorry to hear you aren't feeling too hot katy.
