Do you go to class ?
How long have you been doing it & how much have you lost ?

I am on my second week (weigh-in tomorrow). I go to a weigh and go class in the city in my lunch hour and have lost 8lbs so far. I miss going to an actual class though so am looking for some support on here.

made the pork, cider and root veg casserole from the pure points cookbook today. Lovely! The chocolate bread pudding was not!

Joining ww next week. Had no-one to watch the DTs for me yesterday. Decided to start changing what I am eating anyway coz if I wait I may never do it!

roisin · 06/01/2005 19:45

Dior I do like the look of the 'free choice' system - I like the idea of eating a bit more, and I think the discipline of no snacks and no bread would be good for me. But atm dh wants to stick with the regular plan ... and as he does all the cooking, all the shopping, and he's lost over 6 stone with WW last year (gold member now), I'm sticking with him!

Kayleigh · 06/01/2005 22:31

Dior, well done that's brilliant. I am
I am sticking with my daily points too. The other option is very like slimming world and at the momemnt I like having ready meals etc when i want. Think I would find the other option a bit restricting.

MunchedTooManyMarsLady, welcome! You should try and exercise a bit too as you can earn bonus points. I have sex with my lover Clive at least 3 times a day.

woo-hoo, the first day I have stuck to my 20 points, well done me

welcome MunchedTooManyMarsLady + DissLocated!

Dior - well done thats great, however I am also very envious.....! I understand what you mean about your friend being jealous, which is hard for you as like you say, she can be a good friend, but then she is jealous of your sucess and spoils it. It may stop you feeling good about how well you have done, but dont let it!

I am vivsiting my mum in Scotland at the moment, but fly home on Sunday. I am going to joing my local WW on wednesday morning.

eidsvold · 07/01/2005 05:39

well done to those who lost - to the others - as long as you are back on track - that is the important thing.

Did/is anyone doing ww whilst breastfeeding - hbow do you managed to food - 32 points!!! I am having trouble eating that much... trying to increase certain portions as they suggest but it still seems like so much. Any suggestions??

DissLocated · 07/01/2005 12:16

I'm still bf - How do you manage to do WW while breastfeeding? I've posted on other threads about this. I can't get to local meetings (prefer at home anyway) but on at home they won't let bf women join. Do you go to meetings?

I was thinking of doing the no count thing (my at home pack hasn't arrived yet) as being able to eat whenever I'm hungry (I think you can snack on fruit?) sounds better while I'm bf, providing I have the discipline to eat only when I'm hungry.

JJ · 07/01/2005 13:36

Ok, I'm joining a local WW group as soon as my son starts nursery full time (hopefully next week). I feel like if I write it down then I'm more likely to do it.

Did it a few years ago and lost weight, but the past 2 1/2 years have... umm... let's just say 'not been kind to me' and leave it at that!

Anyway, if someone could hassle me to get my large butt in gear next week, I'd appreciate it!

I am attending my local meeting - and I was given a special booklet for breastfeeding mums... but reading the small print - I should have had an okay from my doctor.

DissLocated · 08/01/2005 10:44

Interesting - is it an extra 6 points for everyone or does it vary according to how much you are bf?

eidsvold · 09/01/2005 03:39

that is for up to six months only bf then when you start weaning and babe is on bm and solids it is 30 points. I am aiming for 30points as my dd generally has one bottle of formula a day. See how that works out over the next few weeks.

eidsvold · 09/01/2005 03:42

does anyone have any of the old cookbooks - from last year. I have two I loved but had to give away when we emigrated. One was recipes from around the world I think.. had a great goulash recipe in it and I think a prawn stir fry recipe that dh and I absolutely loved. Does anyone know what I am talking about?!?!?!

eidsvold · 09/01/2005 03:43

silly me - the other was a thicker one that had an orange and white cover from very poor memory - lots of recipes in it??

DissLocated · 09/01/2005 08:27

I've got 'around the world in 65 recipes' and the time to eat cookbook, are these what you mean? Will look for the recipes you want and post them.

btw - 30 points, how much is your basic points and how much extra for bf? I'm on 20 points at the mo'.

BubblesDeVere · 09/01/2005 08:33

Well, after falling out with dh yesterday and feeling really upset, all points went out of the window, I have got up this morning feeling very dubious as to whether I can stick to my points today.

All i can do is try, at least he won't be here all day, he'll be in bed.

Goulash – 3points per serving. Serves 4.

Low fat cooking spray
400g lean stewing steak
1 large onion sliced
1 garlic clove crushed
1.5 tablespoons paprika
400g can chopped tomatoes
1 tblspn tomato puree
1 large green or red pepper, chopped
1 beef stock cube dissolved in 425ml hot water
1 tblespn cornflour, mixed with 3 or 4 tblsp water

Fry meat with low fat spray until brown, add onion and garlic saute for 3 mins. Add paprika, tomatoes, tomato puree, pepper and stock. Bring to the boil, reduce heat and simmer for 1.5hrs. Add blended cornflour until sauce is thickened. Serve topped with 1 tblspn low fat plain yoghurt and chopped parsley.

Not sure which prawn thing you mean as there are a few in both cookbooks. This is the closest to a stir fry I think.

Garlic prawns 2.5p per serving. Serves 2.

1 garlic clove, crushed.
Juice and zest of 0.5 lemon
225g cooked tiger prawns
1 teasp olive oil
1 tbsp chopped parsley
2 x 25g slices of french bread.

Mix garlic, lemon zest and juice. Add prawns and some black pepper. Leave to marinade for 15 mins.
In a heavy based frying pan, cook prawns and marinade over high heat for 2 – 3 mins. Divide prawns between 2 plates, drizzle remaining marinade over along with 0.5 teasp of olive oil and parsley. Serve with the bread.

Bubbles - don't let him ruin your hard work so far. If you go over your points you'll feel bad about dh and the points, at least if you stick to points you've only got one thing to feel bad about iyswim.

No chance you might make up with him today??

BubblesDeVere · 09/01/2005 09:49

Yes disslocated, he tried this morning and was very subdued this morning when he came in from work, I MIGHT when he gets up, but still can't forgive him for how much he frighted dd1 & dd2, trying my upmost to stick to points today, just had my morning pint of orange, which I can't function without and a cup of tea and then going for a walk later with the girls.

DissLocated · 09/01/2005 10:18

What did he do? Sorry if you've already posted about this elsewhere.

BubblesDeVere · 09/01/2005 10:30

To cut a long story short, when he is working he is a different person and cos the little one (3 years) followed him into the kitchen he screamed LEAVE ME ALONE which made her jump into my arms sobbing and then as DD1 was playing up shouting in her face swearing etc and frightened her too.

DissLocated · 09/01/2005 10:37

Hope the girls are OK today. Saw a similar thing with my bil at the weekend. He lost his temper with his 3 yo because she was pestering her older brother. He picked her up and flung her on the setee in an aggressive manner which shocked me a bit. Saying that, she did get over it very quickly and didn't seem too traumatised.

I can also remember being quite tiny and being very scared by my Dad shouting at me but hasn't affected our relationship. I think it's the regularity of these things that make a difference. I probably remember the incident with my Dad because it only happened the once.

As I say, hope you and your girls are OK. Have to go and get dd ready to go out for lunch now.

Good luck.

fairycakes · 09/01/2005 15:16

well, it was my best mates 21st yestrday, so needless to say, despite my best efforts, i went back to my pre-baby ways and drank far too much alcohol for the best part of 12 hours, and then ate pretty much most of the buffet at her do in the evening........at least i havent strayed so far today....!!
