Calorie counting for the new year, anyone want to join?

FlabCrab · 29/12/2021 18:43

Hello :)
I have a 11lbs to lose, and planning on calorie counting as it’s worked well for me in the past. I’ll be using Nutracheck and on 1450 calories a day. I really need accountability so I’m planning to post my calories and meals each evening, and weigh in every Thursday starting tomorrow.

I’d love some company!
Happy to talk to myself if not though (and I fully expect I will be as it’s a bit of a boring thread 😂).

I was planning to start on the 1st but due to being absolutely disgusted with how much I’ve eaten over Christmas I’m starting tomorrow instead Grin

I’m also planning a general lifestyle improvement - much less time on my phone, and some kind of exercise every day.

Good luck to anyone else looking to lose weight in the new year! 💪

I would like to join you all! I am using Nutracheck too. I find it great.
1200 cal for me.
Going to the gym 4 times per week.
Being active rest of the days (I need to fit some walling in my schedule somewhere!)
I am not weighing st the moment, but I am on a long road from being obese to overweighted, and now trying to get to my ideal weight, but main goal is to get fitter and fitter, and have a healthy lifestyle.

MushMonster · 03/01/2022 20:49

For those new to Nutracheck, there are meal suggestions, which look and taste delicious! Also, they got a part that counts nutrients, so it gives you the split between carbohydrates, fats and protein, and it warns you if a meal is too rich in salt, sugar or fats.

Hello

I've got 6 kilos to lose.

Planning a fast800 combined with vegan on most days. Wine only at the weekend.

No chocolate!

MushMonster · 03/01/2022 21:05

No chocolate is a hard one after all these boxes left from Christmas!
I chucked them on top of the units where I do not look much, or cannot get to LOL

MotherMole · 03/01/2022 21:21

@MushMonster I’ve had to box ours up and put in the shed. If I see them knocking around, I can’t ignore them. 😆

MotherMole · 03/01/2022 21:22

@catwomandoo I’m vegan so any tips or meals you have I’d greatly appreciate 😀

Cassimin · 03/01/2022 22:09

End of the day and I’m 300 cals under what I’m supposed to be having according to nutracheck.
Is it ok to do this?
I remember years ago when I was on a diet it said if you didn’t eat enough your body goes into starvation mode and clings onto the calories.
I’ve never done calorie counting before, I’ve low carbed and lost this way.

tumbledryerfault · 03/01/2022 22:57

Good going everyone! I've had a pretty ok day today finishing up with 258 cals left over and I even had a small cupcake for MILs bday! Been crappy weather here all day though so I've not been very active at all. Thanks for the meals tip on Nutracheck just having a nosey and it looks great. I have the new pinch of nom cookbook and I'm hoping to try a few of the recipes this week.

DivaRainbow · 03/01/2022 23:37

Hey everyone, Today was my day one and I think it went OK. Though we had awful weather aswel which ment I didn't get my step goal..

Sunshineandswimming7 · 04/01/2022 00:09

Oooh thankyou @catwomandoo These look great!

MushMonster · 04/01/2022 17:33

Thanks for the veganuary meal planning!
Where do you find tempeh? I have never seen it in any supermarket, neither tried, but I would like to give it a go indeed.

Daisy829 · 04/01/2022 17:52

What low calorie snacks do you guys have? I find after school when I’m doing a snack for the kids I want one too. Managed to avoid damage today but looking for inspiration.

catwomandoo · 04/01/2022 17:59

Low cal snacks - carrot sticks are good, drink a glass of warm (from the kettle, not the tap) water with a squeeze of lemon. A small handful of roasted chickpeas (drain a can, rinse , toss in olive oil, salt , pepper m spices (if you like them) and roast in the oven form few mins. A drink of bovril or stock or miso is very satisfying too.

catwomandoo · 04/01/2022 18:04

With apologies for the daily mail link these are good , easy fast and low cal meals.

I find most of the Fast800 recipes to be lovely, easy and filling

catwomandoo · 04/01/2022 18:05

@MushMonster

Tempeh from Waitrose but I'm sure other large supermarkets do it too

MushMonster · 04/01/2022 18:06

Me, I try to stick to 3 meals, without sacks. If I have a snack it will be fruit, either whole or as a smoothie.
If I feel really hungry, I have toast with it, or toast, peanut butter and banana.
I sometimes sneak a hard boil egg in the meal plan to make up some calories too.

Thanks for the chickpea recipe, I love it. I will try it. Warm drinks help with my cravings too. I have a lemon tea one. I never thought of miso itself, I love it so much!
Daisy829 · 04/01/2022 18:11

Oh bovril is a great idea. Especially atm. It was freezing today. I love chickpeas too.
I’ve got a sore tooth atm so can’t crunch much. I’m hoping that will help the weight loss journey

MushMonster · 04/01/2022 18:13

Thanks for the tempeh too. I will search for it when I go shopping.
I love soya. I have tried making my own soya chunks to use in meals before, but they take too long. I use soya protein now, or frozen edame beans. Only thing I have not tried yet is tempeh. It looks great, and I know the flavour of the soya beans themselves, so I think I will like it indeed.

FlabCrab · 04/01/2022 20:26

Evening all!! I’ve had a better day today.

Breakfast - Fuel oat muffin (172)
Lunch - Chilli low cal ready meal (304) crisps (75)
Dinner - jacket potato with beans and cheese and huge salad (571)
Snacks - ice cream Mars bar (140) malt loaf and butter (171)

Total - 1433

Hope everyone else has had a good day!

@MushMonster I would seriously consider working out the calories you need, 1200 is hardly anything! Don’t make it harder for yourself! You’ll lose much better if you’re having enough calories :)

FlabCrab · 04/01/2022 20:30

Low cal snacks - I love things like mini bags of chocolate buttons or Maltesers. Under 100 cals and you feel like it’s a real treat!

Daisy829 · 04/01/2022 20:44

Oh yes mini chocs are a good idea as they feel quite satisfying don’t they. Will get some this week.
