Calorie counting for the new year, anyone want to join?

Hello :)
I have a 11lbs to lose, and planning on calorie counting as it’s worked well for me in the past. I’ll be using Nutracheck and on 1450 calories a day. I really need accountability so I’m planning to post my calories and meals each evening, and weigh in every Thursday starting tomorrow.

I’d love some company!
Happy to talk to myself if not though (and I fully expect I will be as it’s a bit of a boring thread 😂).

I was planning to start on the 1st but due to being absolutely disgusted with how much I’ve eaten over Christmas I’m starting tomorrow instead Grin

I’m also planning a general lifestyle improvement - much less time on my phone, and some kind of exercise every day.

Good luck to anyone else looking to lose weight in the new year! 💪

@FlabCrab I know!! Its so low! I have actually been having some decent sized meals though which I think is why I've managed to stick to it, its amazing the amount of brocolli you can have for 100kcal 😂😂I cant see me doing more than a couple more weeks without increasing it, im getting sugar withdrawal headaches!!

Daisy829 · 08/01/2022 21:51

I’m hoping when I get there they will have some specials that are better choices. It’s quite a limited menu. It’s my front tooth so I might go for the roast & just cut it really small and put to the back of my mouth! I think I could resist the potato’s and Yorkshire’s you know. I’ve just been out with some of my friends for a birthday celebration & I didn’t have any alcohol. That never happens! It was so hard though when they poured the first Prosecco. It looked delicious. If I can get through that I can get through anything!

StarryNightSparkles · 08/01/2022 22:11

@Daisy829 just seen that on the DJ thread. Well done you that's a big achievement 😊 also don't be too harsh on yourself tomorrow just enjoy your lunch.

Daisy829 · 08/01/2022 22:12

Thanks. I’m feeling pretty smug right now. Tucked up in bed with my book!

DDMAC · 08/01/2022 22:21

I started using Nutracheck in September, hoping to start again on Monday after a naughty Christmas 😊

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 08/01/2022 23:20

@addictedtotheflats I toggled something to do with exercise calories on nutracheck and my calorie allowance changed from 1200 to 1400. Check out one of the online calculators to make sure you're on the right amount.

Yep 1200 isn’t sustainable long term. It’s a toddler allowance! Try this calculator and then just manually input what it gives you into Nutracheck.
Calorie counting isn’t supposed to be a punishment, it’s better to have your full allowance :)

I think I’m bowing out after 4 days Hmm my blood sugar dropped yesterday afternoon (bizarrely an hour after a good 550 lunch) and it set my heart off (I have an arrhythmia). I can’t risk that too often so it’s back the drawing board for me. I think I’ll see if our gym has reopened, eat ‘sensibly’ (read: the Christmas cake has all gone now anyway Grin ) and see how it goes. I hope you all have great success Flowers

SockFluffInTheBath · 09/01/2022 13:00

@Slidey23 absolutely, it’s the first time I’ve counted calories and it’s really opened my eyes to how I can have a slab of chicken for relatively few calories but 4 milky coffees a day is equivalent to lunch!

Daisy829 · 09/01/2022 14:57

@SockFluffInTheBath ah what a shame but it’s not worth putting your health at risk. Good luck x

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 09/01/2022 17:49

Best of luck @SockFluffInTheBath , you're quite right not to mess about with your heart health.

MushMonster · 09/01/2022 19:23

@SockFluffInTheBath so sorry to hear that. I hope you all settled now and take it easy Flowers

MushMonster · 09/01/2022 19:36

I managed to stick to the plan over the weekend!
Also, went to gym Thursday and Friday, and started a new programme, so my body aches! Much better now. I am going back tomorrow, but will not do the new programme till tuesday to give my body time enough to recover.
Tomorrow I have oats with fruit, and oat milk, chilli con carne (veggie version), and ham and mushroom omelette.

Daisy829 · 09/01/2022 20:45

Okay I’ve done it. I’ve signed up to the gym. I got a code for £9 for the first month so going to give it a go. Pray for me!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 10/01/2022 10:54

Well done @Daisy829 good luck with it!

How are the aches @MushMonster? I need to have a rest day today I think. So will have a lunchtime stroll to get my minimum exercise and am on a strict calorie limit today/tomorrow to balance out my weekend indulgences.

DH and I have agreed we need to meal plan high protein low cal days for Mondays and Tuesdays as chances are we'll have some weekend indulgences to make up for most weeks!

Daisy829 · 10/01/2022 20:25

I did it! Yay! I also managed to integrate some extra walking into my working day today & will do the same tomorrow. I’ve overspent by 2 cals today but burnt over 700 so I’m quite pleased with that.
Meals all planned & tracked for tomorrow too. I’m in the zone

MushMonster · 10/01/2022 22:07

Well done @Daisy829
@WhatWouldTheDoctorDo I am almost like new by now. But today I did not make it to the gym! I just finished in the kitchen at 8:05, and I was supposed to be at the gym at 8:00. I had someone turning a bit late for their dinner.
But nevermind, I have 3 days booked, and I will have to go Friday or weekend.
I have to go back to my new programme tomortow. Let's see how my legs cope!
Foodwise, I did stick to it minus one extra coffee.
Tomorrow I have porridge and fruit, tuna salad and yougurt , and fish and chips.
Looking forward to the fish and chips.

Slidey23 · 11/01/2022 07:46

@SockFluffInTheBath how are you doing?

MaternityNurse007 · 11/01/2022 07:53

Yes please, i do need to start counting those F- ers again.....

MushMonster · 11/01/2022 17:44

Done the meal plan! I am stuffed! I love fish and chips, yummy!
Still have to cook for tomorrow meals, and get to the gym.
Tomorrow I have yougurt and raisins, grilled chicken and boiled potatoes, and cheese on toast!
Looking forward to the cheese on toast! Long time not having it! I hope I do not get hungry, because the portion will be quite tiny.....

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 11/01/2022 17:54

Well done @MushMonster and @Daisy829

I want fish and chips now... I've had granola with berries and yoghurt, soup plus fruit and one small biscuit for lunch and about to have a healthy keema pie for dinner. Today is the end of my 'week' on nutracheck so weigh in day tomorrow...

SockFluffInTheBath · 11/01/2022 20:02
@SockFluffInTheBath how are you doing?
My heart’s was a bit skippy since Saturday, but ok since middayish thank you. I’ve learned some useful calorie lessons but need to be a bit more restrained (or less restrained).

SockFluffInTheBath · 11/01/2022 20:03

Well done to everyone, sounds like you’ve all made great starts. Good luck and lots of willpower Flowers

MushMonster · 11/01/2022 21:46

Yes @SockFluffInTheBath take it easier, step by step and check with your doctor, surely they can give you some advice.

Been to the gym, and my tomorrow luch is sorted.

@WhatWouldTheDoctorDo And I love pies!
Maybe I will make space for one next week. Yummy!

I actually like calorie counting. It makes you plan your meals, 8nstead of just having bic and tea when hungry. You pack in the day fruits, vegs, proteins!

StarryNightSparkles · 11/01/2022 22:29

Evening all 👋 hope everyone is doing well. I am still sticking with the app and excited for my first weigh in on Friday 🤞 I've lost something lol.

Going to do some meal planning tomorrow running out of food ideas 🤦‍♀️ then my Tesco delivery order. My new favourite snack is crisp bread with soft cheese and tomatoes with spring onions and sea salt 😋

Still making excuses to avoid exercising will need to sort that out asap.

Think this is the longest I've stuck to losing weight in years. Thanks for the support everyone 💐
