New You plan - aiming for 3 stone by Christmas

fallenover · 08/09/2021 15:59

I have stalled at this weight for ages and been on a permanent diet / watching what I eat / walking and keeping active. All to little effect. I feel like I need a boost and to give my metabolism a bit of a shock and get the scales moving downwards.

So I have decided to follow the New You plan and just placed my order.

Anybody want to join me on this journey with the aim of keeping motivated and sharing hints, tips and success stories.

You're welcome 😊 big favourite of mine is the pancakes although I add an egg and some berries which is not strictly allowed. However the weight has been coming off so I'm continuing to do so until it doesn't. Also recommend the crisps and biscuits. So nice to be able to have a snack.

Hippywannabe · 14/01/2022 17:54

Well done @MrsBeefy and welcome aboard @hellsbells99
I love the crisps too!

Paperyfish · 15/01/2022 08:28

Just did second weigh in!
Week one (exante) 8 lbs down
Week 2 ( new you) 3 lbs down
I’m really pleased with that for week 2! Also, new you plan seems tastier and cheaper than exante. With the exception of the chocolate caramel museli sachet which was vile.

Hippywannabe · 15/01/2022 08:36

Well done @Paperyfish you may even get the 1st stone next week!

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 19/01/2022 07:03

5lb down this week so 13lb in 3 weeks, should hit 1 stone lost by next week, if I can lose 3 lb then I'll be moving into the next stone bracket which is always a nice little motivation bump.

Campervan69 · 19/01/2022 11:28

Amazing well done. I'm stalled atm. We are going to centerparcs this weekend but I had a bad weekend and have not yet got back on track. Think this is going to be a marathon rather than a sprint for me.

Hippywannabe · 20/01/2022 07:30

@HalfShrunkMoreToGo well done! That first stone going is such an incentive!
@Campervan69 take the day in smaller steps, stick tomplan for a morning, then an afternoon, then the whole day.
I am a pound away from 5 stones now!

Hippywannabe · 22/01/2022 15:22

I have hit the 5 stones off goal in 4 months and 1 week.
Hoping to get into the 12 stones bracket within the next 10 days even with a blip planned for Monday for DH's birthday.

millytint44 · 22/01/2022 19:30

I'm looking to give it a go. Could someone PM me a referral code please?

Hippywannabe · 22/01/2022 23:02

I sent you mine, let me know if you have any questions xx

millytint44 · 23/01/2022 10:28

Well I spent hours last night looking at New You Plan's Insta and seeing the amazing weight loss charts. I've ordered a trial week (thanks @Hippywannabe for referral discount!)

But I'm scared, to be honest, that I won't be able to stick to it. I'm 50 in May and I don't want to be fat and frumpy but I've not got a great track record of being able to stick to a diet.

I'm 15.4 at the moment. Would like to be 12.8 (pre pregnancy weight) for my 50th...

How can I prepare myself for this? Were the first few days the worst? I'm a bread/sugar addict. I know these are THE worst things to eat!!! Has anyone else had success from a starting place like mine?

Hippywannabe · 23/01/2022 12:45

Hi @millytint44 I am 57, nearly 58. This is the easiest plan I have ever been on as I simply don't have to think about food. I only have my packs so I set myself up with preprepared freezer bags with 1 shake, soup, meal and bar in and choose a bag every day.
After a few days, it does become habit and you see such great losses that it keeps you focussed.
Came off plan for 4 days at Xmas and I would say it took a week to be 100% back again as I missed the sensation of eating crunchy food. Stick to it 100% and you will easily be there by your birthday.
Do join in with the FB group as it is very supportive and has lots of ideas to do with the packs. For instance, a lot of the girls make free jelly using the drinks , gelatin and some of the 4 litres of water we drink a day.
I am just going to pm you with my real name so you can find me in the group.
Happy for you to friend me so we can chat. X

Paperyfish · 23/01/2022 13:42

Third weigh in for me and another 2lb off (had a slight mishap in the week with a night out) so now 13 lbs down in three weeks!
Loving this diet.
Those salt and vinegar crisps are amazing- so vinegary!

Hippywannabe · 23/01/2022 14:37

Well done! I have a planned blip on Monday coming up for DH's birthday.

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 23/01/2022 15:35

@millytint44 I'm on week 3 and while there have been a few blips it's surprisingly easy to stick to the diet.

What I would say is:

Get some of the water flavourings and make jelly. It's handy to have in the fridge, makes it feel like you're eating something if you have a habit of snacking and it's much easier to eat your water than drink it when you have a target if 4lts a day!

Don't stick rigidly to the mixing instructions on the packet.for example I don't love the consistency of the shakes so I modify them.

  • caffe latte shake with 100ml more water and a spoon of instant coffee. Shake it up, remove the shaky whisk thing and microwave it. Much more like a normal latte that way and I find with the low calories I get cold so hot drinks help.
  • mint choc or choc orange shake, use just 100ml and give it a good shake and you end up with mousse which is delish and feels more like eating so more psychologically satisfying.

I much prefer the strongly flavoured meal packs, my favourites being spicy noodle nosh (seems very popular based on FB page) veg chili and tacos. I add extra seasoning like chilli and black pepper if needed. I also mix with the tortilla snacks to give a taco crunch texture.

Lots of people say that they find it easier to skip breakfast and double up on packs at dinner so they feel more satisfied in the evening. I do this and it works well for me, I never have been keen on be real fast so just have some water and a black coffee.

millytint44 · 24/01/2022 21:45

Thanks for the feedback and tips ladies; my trial pack was despatched today.... I'm trying to low carb a bit til it arrives and plan to start on Weds or Thurs. I'm wondering whether to do the 'switch' option with having a low carb meal at night.

Hippywannabe · 25/01/2022 18:32

Try a few days on the packs and do Switch as and when you want to.

millytint44 · 25/01/2022 20:02

My stuff hasn't arrived yet.... but I've joined the Facebook group but I simply can't get excited about microwaved omelette type things or burger balls that look like animal droppings...Envy

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 25/01/2022 20:25

@millytint44 😂 it does pretty much all look rank but it tastes better than it looks.

Honestly give it a try, I really like the Spicy noodle nosh, it genuinely s9mething I would happily eat even if not following the plan. The peanut snack crunch bars are lovely too and the mint cho shake is fantastic especially done hot.

Some of it is less appealing to me, I don't really like the pasta dishes, but they're no worse than a batchelors pasta pot that you add water to, it just isn't my thing.

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 26/01/2022 06:03

Another 2lb gone this week so that's 15lb lost by the end of week 4.

Hippywannabe · 26/01/2022 06:53

Confession time, I use 2 eggs instead of an omelette pack. I simply can bring myself to pay for a pack of dried egg. I have omelette at least once a week and it hasn't hurt my losses.
The burgers are my least favourite and I am not a big fan of some of the sweet concoctions people make with the packs.
I want to eat food and snacking was what made me put on loads of weight. I couldn't bring myself to use 3 packs to make a fake pudding.
I love the pasta packs, the vegetable risotto, spicy meals and the Indian Dahl to name a few. I love the soups, shakes, bars and crisps.
I wanted this plan to work for me and it has and I think that is partly because of the way I use them.
I have my shake for lunch as that works for me, my soup when I get in from work, my dinner pack at around 6.30 and my bar in bed. Sometimes I switch the meal bar for a chocolate brownie or porridge pack. I don't like porridge much so do make that into a biscuit/baked oats cake but that is the only "twist".
My thinking is that I hope to be done with this by May and I have to go back to normal eating so will replace one pack at a time with a normal meal. I want to be able to maintain the fact that I have got out of the snacking habit and not be looking for a daily pudding or sweet treat.

Hippywannabe · 01/02/2022 07:37

I lost my sister this week so have been away supporting my Mum, her husband and daughter so obviously haven't been 100%.
Came home for a few hours for clothes and packs and weighed. 2lbs off which is my lowest loss since beginning. I do think there is truth in the thought that your body can hold onto what it has when under stress.
Anyway, that isn't really important. I have packs now to take back with me and I just need to get through the next few weeks.
How is everyone else doing?

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 02/02/2022 07:12

So sorry for your loss @Hippywannabe just focus on yourself and your family, if the weight continues to fall and you continue following the plan then great, if you blip then that's not the worst thing right now ThanksThanks

Paperyfish · 06/02/2022 12:11

Anyone else still here? Have done 5 weeks now and 18 lbs down!

Inchstonesbeatmilestones · 06/02/2022 15:47

Hi all,

Hope you don't mind me joining the thread. Started today, not found it too bad but I do have a brain ache despite drinking loads 😬. Not doing shakes as can't stand milkshake type drinks so having the meal options instead, porridge, soup, packet meals ( tonight's is a taco mix, hope it's not too much like baby food!)

After reading some of the success stories here, I thought I'd give it a go as I really want to shift the extra weight. Never been as heavy as I am now and just want to start feeling better about myself.
