Accomplishing August

Octopus37 · 01/08/2021 08:11

Hi all, here's the new thread. Lets all hope for some sunshine in August.

Weighed in at 8st12.75 this morning, down 4.75 pounds in July, but its a very unusual month. Not setting a specific goal as such, but if I lose a couple more pounds would be great, would prefer less stress though.

Good morning, thank you for the new thread @Octopus37 Smile
That’s a really good loss in July, well done!
I’m going to buy some scales this week and start weighing weekly. I’d really like to get into some exercise properly this month and am hoping for 0.5lbs a week (I feel like that should be achievable) x

TheHoneyBadger · 01/08/2021 09:44

Thanks for new thread and well done on a really good month Octopus. Hoping this month is less stressful for you and yes, sunny too 😎

I’m starting August at 13:0.8. Lost just over 4lbs in July but didn’t quite make my goal of under 13 stone.

It would be nice to be securely under 13 with even random upswings not showing that number again by the end of the month. 13:11 would fit the bill.

LBB2020 · 01/08/2021 10:54

Great loss for you too @TheHoneyBadger Smile

NutellaEllaElla · 01/08/2021 11:13

Thank you for the new thread. I'm checking in but not weighing. Not having a good few days but plan to do better next week

Octopus37 · 02/08/2021 06:41

8st12.5 this morning. Bit worried about my Dad again cause he has had some pain. Busy day with work and Grandparents of DS's girlfriend coming over, so we'll have to see what today brings.

OP posts:
TheHoneyBadger · 02/08/2021 08:03

Thanks LB.

13:0.6 today. Gym later.

LadyDanburysHat · 02/08/2021 09:59

Hello August!

@Octopus37 well done on a good July.

I started July at 12st 7.5, realised there was a typo in my post at the beginning of the July thread and I had put 13st.

I have ended July at 12st 5.25 which I lost in the first week and no more since. The month has been a bit of a write off. So new month and I am determined I will see 11st something by the end of this month. If only I can keep away from the cakes and biscuits.

NutellaEllaElla · 02/08/2021 20:52

I would say that my July was a bit of a write off too.

Back on it today, plenty of water, low on the calories and minimal snacking. Let's hope i've got time to feel good at a special event i'm having in 2 weeks.

Octopus37 · 03/08/2021 07:06

I'm sure you will @NutellaEllaElla, you sound as if you are at a happy weight. What's your special event?

8st12.25 this morning. Going to be harder next week when we're away for a couple of days.

NutellaEllaElla · 03/08/2021 07:13

I think I'm 3 lbs off my ideal weight to be honest but I'm trying not to be so hung up on a number when I'm sure it doesn't actually make a difference to how I look and feel really. Easier to say than do.

We're having a do to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and DHs milestone birthday which was cancelled last year. I'm desperately dress shopping but having not much luck in this shoulder season/covid impacted stock era. I have appointments at 2 specialist dress agencies at the weekend so fingers crossed for that. I want to feel like the belle of the ball!

TheHoneyBadger · 03/08/2021 07:58

Well done Octopus. Isn't it amazing how those last few pounds suddenly shifted and seem to be staying gone? Do you think HRT? Or maybe all the stress.

I'm not weighing today as had fish and chips and a few beers yesterday so I know it will be up.

LBB2020 · 03/08/2021 08:00

I didn’t do too badly yesterday and managed not to eat after 7pm and went for a walk with the baby.
Sounds like you’re doing well @NutellaEllaElla! Hope you find a lovely outfit that you feel amazing in!

Octopus37 · 03/08/2021 09:34

@TheHoneyBadger tbh I think it might be the stress, but HRT could have played a part wierdly. Dont really know what goal to set now, in an ideal world I would maybe be 8st8 which would give me a BMI of dead on 20 and hopefully make me a proper size 10, but that could take me another year and a half to lose lol

OP posts:
TheHoneyBadger · 03/08/2021 14:48

I seem to remember the most healthy bmi was something like 21.5. Can't remember where I got that from so I'll waste some time on google now lol

TheHoneyBadger · 03/08/2021 14:59

What about a focus on body composition rather than weight for a while? Like muscle v fat percentages? You are a really healthy weight and at that size changing your muscle/fat ratios might be way more beneficial to health and appearance than just trying to weigh less?

Or maybe cardio health - do you use a fitbit?

Octopus37 · 03/08/2021 16:52

Yes I think that might be the way to go. Although I walk a lot, I'm not very toned and would imagine that my muscle/body fat composition isn't great. TBH though I have absolutley no time to fit exercise in with working and studying, but may need to start some short youtube videos or something

OP posts:
TheHoneyBadger · 03/08/2021 17:47

Maybe squats, lunges etc with light weights and some arm stuff - it's actually quicker than cardio. Just a suggestion and weight wise maybe good to stay put for a while and acclimatise rather than lose more and push yourself. I'm just really pleased for you because you felt stuck for so long and it finally shifted quite a bit and seems to be staying that way. Remember maintenance is an achievement in itself too.

Remember I used to always put 'stay sane' as my first goal each month? With all the stress you've been/are under that's probably number 1 rather than more pressure.

Octopus37 · 03/08/2021 19:18

Yes I think you're right, feeling pretty awful at the moment tbh cause I'm so stressed. Have ordered pizza tonight for the kids, will be having some as well. I need to find the time just to tone up a bit I think. All in all though, stay sane would be a good goal, cause I just feel really low and tearful to be honest. Its hard, I'm surrounded by people at home, DS and his girlfriend, DH, DS2 and his friend, everyones jolly and I just wish I lived on my own cause I feel so miserable. Care situation with my Dad unresolved which isn't great, me and DS2 are going up for the day tomorrow so hopefullly me and my Sister can sort something out.

OP posts:
TheHoneyBadger · 03/08/2021 20:26

Sounds like you really need a quiet day or two to yourself x

Octopus37 · 03/08/2021 20:51

Chance would be a fine thing unfortunately. Luckily feeling a bit better now. Will be given the scales a swerve though tomorrow as ate too much pizza, although it was a healtheri veggie one. Onwards and upwards

OP posts:
Octopus37 · 04/08/2021 07:16

New day today, sorry for pity party yesterday. Up to 9st this morning cause of pizza and lack of activity. Hoping a temporary thing, have done this so many times before. Hoping that we can make some plans for my Dad today, which will give everyone piece of mind. Hope everyone has a good day. @TheHoneyBadger have been meaning to ask you, do you think the HRT is helping you?

OP posts:
NutellaEllaElla · 04/08/2021 07:56

You are so so right but how do you know your body composition in an accurate way?

I found the perfect dress in my wardrobe Grin I bought it months ago but discounted it as it was weirdly warped on the side seam but that had disappeared when I tried it again last night. Maybe it dropped out or something.

NutellaEllaElla · 04/08/2021 20:57

I have walked my legs off today! Killing it diet wise.

I hope things are moving forward for your dad.

Octopus37 · 05/08/2021 07:08

Your dress sound lovely @NutellaEllaElla.

Long day yesterday,, Dad quite weak tbh, I taked to my Sister and helped her investigate different care options yesterday. Feel so bad for her and guilty, we are going away next week (Monday to Thursday) with DS's girlfriend as well. TBH dont want to go, just feel that I should go up and help with my Dad instead, but then that wouldn't be fair on my family. Obviously if things turn again, thats what I will be doing. Very little exercise the last two days, so 8st13.75 this morning. I know everyone says that exercise doesn't make a much difference, its food, but for me a day or two with hardly any steps really makes a difference.

OP posts:
LBB2020 · 05/08/2021 07:21

Sorry you’re having such a stressful time @Octopus37 I hope things with your dad begin to improve soon.
Well done @NutellaEllaElla it sounds like you’re doing great and I’m glad you found a lovely dress!
Hope everyone else is having a good week. I ate terribly yesterday Blush I just couldn’t stop myself! Today is a new day though!
