NEW SLIMMING WORLD THREAD - IT'S NEARLY CHRISTMAS - HOW ARE WE DOING????

Sparkler · 24/11/2007 20:49

Had to start a new thread peeps as the old one was too long to accept any new messages. How's it going?
I'm sad to say after my positive note on starting the previous thread, I'm having a terrible time of things. I've really slipped. So, I need you to all shout at me and get me back on track. I don't mind what you say or how you say it. I can handle it.

Lost 2lb today at weigh in and got my 1stone sticker. It's taken me 9 weeks to get that far so it feels slow. Another 3lb next week and I am halfway to my target.

I have the low fat super noodles for lunch an awful lot. I bulk it up with extra died noodles which you just chuck in boling water for 4 mins of a handfull of plain couscous.

bohemianbint · 28/11/2007 22:10

Wow - Nikki, 9 weeks to lose a stone! That's ace, I've lost about 4lbs in the same time.

MamaG · 28/11/2007 22:58

what ive had has all been low fat versions. and i know i had a couple of naughty days but i havent gone over the syns im allowed in a week. please help!!!!!!!!!

Misdee · 29/11/2007 12:36

eat more free food.

in a green day, i have beans, eggs, mushrooms, onions, sweetcorn, peas, rice, pasta, quorn pepper fillets + fruit and any extra veg i have. i fill up on free food, then maybe have one or two b choices, and always have my milk on HeA. use my syns for sauces and crisps lol.

MamaG · 29/11/2007 14:14

I echo misdee, you really need to eat more free foods - full up on pasta/rice/noodles, chunk it up with veg, snack on fruit/yoghurts etc

lurcherlass · 29/11/2007 15:59

I'm no expert traxcatz, but I eat twice that amount. I eat 2 HEBs abd 2 HEAs every day, plus loads of free stuff and up to 15 syns!oink oink!
What got me losing, was more walking. I started walking my dogs twice round the field instead of once and it made a big difference. It's early days, as you say you've only been doing it a week. Give it a bit longer and you'll see results I'm sure

hansnava · 29/11/2007 16:20

im stressed ive got 2lbs to loose for my first stone but for the life of me i cant seem to shift them 2weeks now and nothing put half on but none off. what am i doing wrong???????

lurcherlass · 29/11/2007 16:24

Kid,I recommend planning. Its the only way I can get it to work for me. Plan all your lunches and dinners for the week and do one shop at the weekend (after you've eaten, so you dont fancy everything you see). I often come home from work, starving and if I havent got my meal written down, I'm in that fridge stuffing my face while I'm trying to decide what to have. If you know what your gonna cook and the stuff is in the cupboards, you can just get straight on with preparing it and I promise you, you will feel much more in control.
I keep the whippets goodies in what we call the "junk food cupboard" and I try to stay out of it. For me, it's out of sight out of mind. Very often, I only decide I fancy the naughties once I've spotted them. Hope this suggestion helps. Will you try it for a week and tell us how you get on?

kid · 29/11/2007 20:52

Thanks for the tips LL, I am sticking to it so far. I am planning daily though and went shopping tonight armed with a list of food to buy. I did buy some treats but will count them in my sins. I got curly wurlys and also 2 finger kitkats.

I had some rice for lunch today, but could do with eating more free foods. I am also going to try out some recipes from SW website. I like the look of the quiche so I bought the ingredients I need. I also got some bran flakes to make a chocolate cake, no idea if it will be edible but it has chocolate in it so I am sure I will force it down me!

I will weigh in on Monday to see what the result is for this week. Still not eaten a single slice of bread which is a target I set myself.

Sparkler · 29/11/2007 21:39

I lost the 2lb tonight that I put on last week. I have a mega challenge this week. I've set my mini target as 3lb . I shall tell you why this moment of madness happened. I said a few months ago that I would like to lose 1 stone before DH's xmas work party and it's suddenly crept up on me. It's a week tomorrow. So I have one week to get 3lbs off.

OP posts:
kid · 29/11/2007 21:56

Maybe the diet and a bit of extra exercise will help you reach that target?
Its not an impossible target, so I hope you make it.

missiesparkles · 29/11/2007 23:30

speed foods + lower your syns for the week... this is what I shall be doing the week before christmas and maybe try exercising early in the day (if you can) apparently it speeds up your metabolism for the day meaning you burn more calories or something.

... I feel I need to stop harping on about these bloody speed foods, I must sound like a right prat lol

and well done for losing that 2lbs!

lurcherlass · 30/11/2007 11:41

Hi Kid, sounds like you've got it sussed it's a pain that your work microwave is skanky, I'd go mad trying to find a cold lunch every day. Two slices of HE bread don't go far
I wonder if you can still buy those wide-knecked flasks? if you could get one of those, the worlds your oyster (or your chilli, or your stew, or your spag bol) Treat-wise I can recommend Guylian shells. They are only 3 syns each and are so rich and chocolatey that you really feel like you've had something decadent. They aren't huge but if you suck one slowly, you can make it last ages!

nikkid21 · 30/11/2007 14:27

As part of my new 'better' eating regime i've started getting a veg box delivered. Had lots of leeks in it this week. Usually I just cook them in loads of butter. Has anyone got any sw friendly ideas?
Thanks

kid · 30/11/2007 16:40

No idea about suggestions for the leeks, I don't tend to eat them.

I was very strong today, I refused some chocolate that was offered to me, several times! Why do some people feel the need to try and force you to eat it even when you say NO!

Also had some more lovely rice, much nicer that salad I think.

lurcherlass · 30/11/2007 17:11

Has anyone tried Tesco Meatfree, Spinach & Ricotta Sausages? they're free on green, so I thought they might be worth a go?

lurcherlass - will be buying said bangers today as I am craving bangers + mash - will report back!!

Lizzylou · 01/12/2007 10:30

Hi all, I have been having really bad trouble trying to log on to MN at the moment (something to do with Explorer DH said, but he didn't fix it!).
Hi to all the new people, stick with it, it does work!
Have lost another 3lbs over the last 3 weeks, so that means 1stone and 10lbs off now since Sept, which I'm thrilled with. Am down a dress size and heading towards a size 12, which will be the first time in 10 years!!! Still want another 10lbs off but realise with christmas coming up that this may take some time now!
Went spinning on wednesday and thought I was going to die after 10mins! Have had difficulty getting up and down stairs ever since, much respect to those who do this regularly! Hopefully next week will be easier.

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 01/12/2007 13:25

I made a SW full english this morning (grilled quorn sausages, beans, nimble toast, grilled muhrooms, grilled tomatoes, and scrambled egg) I had to use some flora light to do the scrambled egg, so it wasn't syn free, is there a better way of doing it?

Lizzylou · 01/12/2007 15:01

James, I don't like scrambled egg, so not sure if it would work but what about Frylight? They do a buttery one? (Feel free to laugh out loud if there is a stupid suggestion, am a bit of a egg-phobe!).
