NEW SLIMMING WORLD THREAD - IT'S NEARLY CHRISTMAS - HOW ARE WE DOING????

Sparkler · 24/11/2007 20:49

Had to start a new thread peeps as the old one was too long to accept any new messages. How's it going?
I'm sad to say after my positive note on starting the previous thread, I'm having a terrible time of things. I've really slipped. So, I need you to all shout at me and get me back on track. I don't mind what you say or how you say it. I can handle it.

OP posts:
Misdee · 28/11/2007 17:04

i lost 1.5lb. not the 2lb i hope, but was still enough to get me under 15stone! yay!!!

missiesparkles · 28/11/2007 17:59

lurcherlass - the sauce as it appears on aimsmums list..
"PETER?S SPICY SAUCE
1 CAN CHOPPED TOMATOES
2 PEPPERS
3 CLOVES GARLIC
1 ONION CHOPPED
4 PICKLED CHILLIES
WHIZ INGREDIENTS IN A BLENDER THEN COOK FOR 15 MINS.
IDEAL FOR PASTA, MEAT OR VEGETABLES
ALL INGREDIENTS ARE SPEED FOODS"

but I fried the onions in fry light then simmered the rest of the ingredients for 15 minutes then put it in the blender - turned out fine!!

misdee - good work!! you are part of our blue sparkly sticker club now yes??

Misdee · 28/11/2007 18:07

fireflyfairy2 · 28/11/2007 18:15

I bailed out of going to sw tonight. Am under stress at min with assignments due in & exams. It's my final year & I always deal with stress by eating And old habits are hard to break. Haven't done a shop in ages either so there's nothing easy to grab at the minute.. I'm hoping once I get the next 3 weeks over me I can get back at it with a vengance..

Well Done everyone on the losses!!

Hazel, I'm in NI if I can help with the mag at all!

lurcherlass · 28/11/2007 18:21

Ooh thankx Missie, I take it peppers are the big capiscum peppers? I guess the kick comes from the chillies.
I'm making chick-pea curry tomorrow, it's free, so if it's any good I'll let you know. It's from the Jan/Feb 2007 SW mag.
Misdee, get your coat on,drive to the spa-shop and buy some Barbie stickers and BRIBE DD with them. YOu NEED that sticker

kid · 28/11/2007 18:43

I haven't eaten much today at all. I am cutting down and trying to just have my HE.
But as I didn't enjoy what I was eating, I didn't eat all of it. So, I ended up feeling faint for most of the day and had an almighty headache. It would have been fine if I had been at home all day, but I was at work until 3:30.

I didn't enjoy my dinner, too healthy, no sauce! But I have just thoroughly enjoyed my ryvita style biscuits with cheese triangles. I treated myself to one quality street.

I can't do this everyday though, it made me feel ill

Misdee · 28/11/2007 18:47

kid get the sauce book.

hazel158882 · 28/11/2007 19:11

Hi Girls.

Thanks you so much for your offer lurcherlass and fireflyfairy2 I can't get the mag anywhere and would love to have a read once a month!

Lurcherlass, I live about 20 mins away from gortahork and I can agreee with your friend whole heartedly, it is very very windy!! lol

fireflyfairy2 it would probably be easier for you to post the mag out to me as you are much closer, it's so sweet of you both to offer!
we will have to figure out a way for me to pay you though (I suppose euros aren't much use to you LOL)

Well I am hanging my head in Shame today, I weighed myself this morning and I have gained 2lbs, I have no idea how so I had 5 chocolate digestives and a huge glass of milk (and I'm not talking the skinny kind!)
Damn it!!!

I'm going to attempt to call it a flexible syn day and leave it at that, but it's so depressing gaining weight for no good reason (okay so pregnancy might be a reason, I suppose 2lbs in 11 weeks isn't too bad, but still, it's depressing!)

Anyway I feel like a big pig now so I'm going to get to bed as soon as possible and hope that tomorrow is a better day.

Well done to all the girls who lost!
And chin up to those who didnt!

Speak soon
Hazel

missiesparkles · 28/11/2007 19:22

lurcherlass - indeedy big peppers - I just got fancy + used a sweet ramiro pepper, + I poss could have done without an entire jar of jalepenos but hey, I like my stuff spicy and I've managed to make the sauce last 3 days

I'm living exclusively off variations of this sauce this week, I want to see if the speed foods give my weight loss a little kick as I am determined to lose another 13.5lbs by the end of the year

my special friday treat is going to be the sauce mixed into some rice + a nice bit of steak - 2 x b choices of course hehe

hazel - tomorrow always is another day, don't let a little slip up turn into a massive fall!!

lurcherlass · 28/11/2007 19:22

Yes Hazel,of course, that makes sense, as FF lives on the emerald isle. Just made a big chicken casserole and added carrots, mushrooms and tiny bits of brocoli (trying to hide the veg from DS so that he'll eat it!!) We're gonna have it with jacket potatoes, only the whippets will be having butter on theirs and I won't
Just got a Dominos leaflet through the door, I passed it straight to my old dog, who I knew would destroy it before I had a chance to look at it- phew!

kid · 28/11/2007 19:49

I am cutting out bread this week to see if that helps. I've been eating that delicious hovis nutty loaf. Its so tasty but probably full of sins!

That sauce book sounds like a must! I will have a look on Ebay now.

Candlewax · 28/11/2007 19:56

Hello ladies. I have been away from the SW thread for a few weeks because I was having problems. I have given up smoking (3 weeks 3 days) and in that time managed to put on 7lb even though I tried so hard not to. Last night I weighed in and had lost 1.5lbs. I need to lose 5.5lbs in order to get my 2 stone sticker!

kid · 28/11/2007 20:25

I just need to check something. I thought the can of vegetable curry from Tesco was 0 sins. Just looked at SW online and it looks like it is 6 sins
Is there an alternative one I can buy, please don't suggest I make my own!

Misdee · 28/11/2007 20:31

no its def 6syns.

but i use it if i hadnt had too many syns that day.

had one today, and thats my only syns today.

missiesparkles · 28/11/2007 20:47

candlewax - well done on your 1.5lb weight loss!!

I think if you are wanting an extra boost, try the speed or super speed foods which I am trying to incorporate into this weeks meals - on the online syns bit, just put in speed or super speed in the free foods section + it filters them through so you have a list you can try to work on... I'll report back next tuesday on whether my little experiment has worked lol

I am currently on a bit of a chocolate kick atm so my syns are going on options + the all bran cake... + I've been saving my 2 hifi bars to scoff at the end of the day too

kid · 28/11/2007 20:53

I won't be buying that again then. I checked the pasta n sauce, thats still free providing I use milk from my allowance.
This is going to be harder than I thought. I need someone to plan my meals for me, and prepare them too

I really need to work out what I can and can't eat, its so confusing and I keep getting it wrong. It wasn't this hard before. It could be because I was just working a couple of days a week, where as now, I work full time. I am so full of excuses

missiesparkles · 28/11/2007 21:03

the batchelors savoury rice packets
(Beef, Chicken, Chinese, Egg fried, Golden, Mild curry, Mushroom,
Pilau, Sweet 'n' Sour & Tandoori)
are all free foods, as are all the fat free super noodles - don't know if that might help you if you're pushed for time?? I've been cooking one packet of rice + one packet of noodles together into a sort of soup type thing which has been quite yummy

Misdee · 28/11/2007 21:05

i chuck some quorn peices in when i am cooking the curry rice.

Candlewax · 28/11/2007 21:06

I don't know if this recipe has been posted before on here, Lemon Cous Cous cake? It's just that someone made it last night and then gave me the recipe so I have made some as I love it! And it is 4.5 syns for the whole cake (NOT to be eaten all at once though - must be spread over 3/4 days SW say even though it is only 4.5 syns).

missiesparkles · 28/11/2007 21:07

I can't get the cous cous cakes to taste/look right... they just look a bit rubbery IYSWIM??

lurcherlass · 28/11/2007 21:46

Kid, you are going to be so but my freind's husband plans her SW meals, shops for it, cooks the meals and eats the same as her. She has lost 4 stone!! Like you, I find workday lunches hard.
I must admit, I often take a tin of cheese and tomato ravioli to work and 2 slices of HE bread. Do you have a microwave at work?

lurcherlass · 28/11/2007 21:51

ps...try Asda, their own brand chick pea dahl free on green, asda vegetable curry 1 ½ syns per 392g can.

Winetimeisfinetime · 28/11/2007 21:53

I am interested in trying Slimming World and wondered if someone could tell me what the essential books I would need are. I have been having a look on Ebay and was thinking of buying a starter pack but I'm not sure what else, if anything is neccessary.

bohemianbint · 28/11/2007 21:56

Hello everyone. I reckon I've put on weight this week, not sure how much, but had a big weekend which I reckon has blown it. Also can't make the meeting tomorrow night (so I won't get to find out how bad the blow out was, yay!) so can anyone tell me the password please?

I'm getting a bit frustrated that it's taking so long to get results, anyone else?

kid · 28/11/2007 22:02

The last password was mince
I'm finding it hard too, but will stock up on some of those rice dishes. They are ok to eat cold aren't they?
I wouldn't like to use the microwave at work, its in a bad way [yuk]

Do you think weighing in during the week is a good idea or not? I am always so tempted but then I get annoyed if I've lost nothing or worse, put weight on!

I hope to be able to post this week that I have a decent loss.

I am very of your friend LL. I go shopping when I finish work so end up buying whatever takes my fancy. I tend to buy treats for the kids and DH and then help myself to them too. I really think they should have to go without too!
