cricketmum84 · 31/05/2021 20:19

Hi all! I'm back with a bang! Thank you so much for the other lovely thread ladies who have taken care of this monthly thread while I have been ill. I'm starting to get a bit better now, my diabetes seems to be under control and I'm getting a little feeling back in my legs although I am still immobile and in chronic pain which makes exercise hard.

Anyway back to the main point! This is our ongoing thread for anyone who would like to try to lose 7lbs per month! There is a lovely mix of people on here all following different plans and regimes. All are welcome whether newbies, old timers, lurkers whatever! All we ask for is the supportive positive experience that everyone has had so far.

Previous thread is here May lose 7lb / 3kg per month thread http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/4233945-May-lose-7lb-3kg-per-month-thread

My stats are:
SW 25st 2lbs
CW 13st 12lbs
Loss so far: 11st 4lbs
Loss for May: 10lbs
Target for end of June: 13st 5lbs

Good luck everyone and here's to an amazing sunny June!

I missed the new thread!

SW- 13stone 10
CW- 12stone
TW 11 stone 8

I kick started my weight loss on keto and lost ten pounds. Then nothing so moved to 1200 high protein diet and signed up to sort your fit out on instagram and have been exercising daily. Losing 2lbs a week since I started.

PassTheVinoTinto · 16/06/2021 07:13

@plixy that is brilliant, well done!

cricketmum84 · 16/06/2021 08:00

Morning all. I was so tempted by a mid week weigh in this morning but I'm staying strong and not looking until saturday!

Amazing @plixy well done!! Feeling jealous of your holiday already

Welcome back @mynameisbrian sounds like you are on top of it with 2lbs a week

Congrats @Tallpaulwho that's an amazing loss!

@PassTheVinoTinto I used to weigh every single day but I think it can turn me a little bit obsessive so I'm trying to only weigh on a Saturday morning and put the scales away the rest of the time.

Excellent work @FraserBear that's really impressive for June so far!

It's so much easier to diet in summer isn't it! All the fresh fruit and salad and sunshine and fresh air!

I've been going for a 15 minute walk after lunch and dinner. Read it helps to stop blood sugar spiking so much so is good for insulin resistance (finished the obesity code)

Also made some kefir, for gut microbiome. Cos I'm for trying anything at this poing

Ooh you will have to let us know how the kefir goes! I'm tempted but a bit scared of it.

And yes 15 minute walk definitely reduces blood sugars. The standard advice for diabetics having a blood sugar spike is to walk and drink plenty of water :) although I have to walk on the spot with my walking frame as I'm rubbish outside with it! I need a fancy new outdoorsy type one!

@PassTheVinoTinto I weigh myself on a Friday morning, mainly because I’m usually quite strict with my food Monday to Thursday and then much more relaxed over the weekend, so Friday morning is when I expect I’m at my lightest.
Been on holiday this week and have rather over indulged but have done lots of walking so am hoping the damage will be minimal!

HolaVida · 16/06/2021 11:30

Arggh @cricketmum84, I was tempted to weigh this morning as well! have had a very moderate 2 days (OMAD), but don't intend to be quite as strict for the next few days, so it doesn't make sense to weigh today, as there just isn't very much food in my stomach!

I weigh on Fridays and Mondays, which is already loads Grin

HolaVida · 16/06/2021 11:31

That's brilliant @plixy! a stone off is amazing.

Harmonyrays · 17/06/2021 06:50

Amazing work everyone 👏

Sw:96.6
Cw:92.3

I've just weighed (tend to do this a few times a week) and I've lost 3.7kgs since starting in June. So pleased anything from her to the end of June is a bonus this month.

Any tips for keep with this longer term? I find I can lose weight with determination and hard work (most i lost was 4 stone) but after a while my mind set changes and allow myself treats....before I know it I'm back to 90+ kgs. A real yo yo dieter

ImFree2doasiwant · 17/06/2021 06:59

I haven't been around much for this month, but still chipping away. Weigh in day today after a coupke of weeks of being REALLY on it, I lost 3.25lb which takes me to 7lbs this month. I did this last month, peaked early but dudnt gain in the second half. I'd live to shift another 3 to take me to the next half St Mark.
SW 14st 6
CW 12st 10
TW 11st 6
June target 12st 10.

HolaVida · 18/06/2021 07:04

Well done @Harmonyrays and @ImFree2doasiwant - brilliant losses!

I'm down again today:

SW 13st 6.5
CW 11st 12.5
TW 11st 3-7
Total lost for June: 6.5lbs
Target for June: 7lbs

So delighted to have got into the 11s!

DuPainDuVinDuFromage · 18/06/2021 07:13

First weekly weigh-in for me today!

SW 62.6kg
CW 61.4kg
GW 50kg

Very happy with that - although this is where it gets harder, as I am always disappointed when I can’t maintain the first week’s rate of loss and I start to feel like I deserve a reward…I’ve got a reasonable amount of socialising next week too. I’m definitely feeling better for finally getting some exercise though!

PassTheVinoTinto · 18/06/2021 10:10

Well not an overly brilliant start to my first week, no loss for me but at least I didn't put anything on I suppose!

Logging all my food, which is making me eat more mindfully, aiming for at least 10k steps a day.

Next week is another week - so I'll just keep going Smile

SW 81kg
CW 81kg
GW 69kg

cricketmum84 · 19/06/2021 18:41

Grr still hovering at 13.9

My fault for indulging in too many pistachios this week. Someone told me to eat more nuts for the vitamins etc but maybe not that many 😂😂

Lovesacake · 20/06/2021 09:33

I had a very exciting weigh in on Friday...9 stone for the first time in years! If I can get to 8.10 I will be beyond thrilled. Not exactly sure of my starting weight as had stopped weighing myself but the last time I was weighed before the diet I was 13 stone 10 pounds.
However I fell off the wagon massively yesterday and literally ate about 5000 calories in one go, so am going to have to make up for that over the next few days!

cricketmum84 · 20/06/2021 11:53

I was naughty and re-weighed this morning as I was frustrated with staying the same for this week!

Result 13st 8lbs so 4lbs for this month so far. Going to need a biiiiiig push to hit 7lbs for June at this rate!

Amazing news @Lovesacake!! Well done :)

I'm going to do next weeks meals and carbs plan in a bit.

Lovely food again @cricketmum84!

SW 13st 6.5
CW 12st 0.75
TW 11st 3-7
Total lost for June: 4.25lbs
Target for June: 7lbs

Somehow I managed to GAIN 2lb over the weekend. Disappointed!! especially as I thought I was being quite moderate!!

cricketmum84 · 21/06/2021 08:29

Thank you @HolaVida :) I've just been told by two people on the diabetes support group on fb that I also post on that my meal plan is practically anorexic.... errrrm nope! Anyhow I'm pretty sure that my latest blood results on Wednesday will show that my diet is working to control my blood sugars!!

It's the start of a brand new week so don't be disheartened by a temporary gain, it's probably just water weight anyway.

Only a week and a bit to lose the last 3lbs to hit this months target so I need to be ultra strict with myself!

Off for more needles now yay! (Sarcastic)

Hi, my SW was 12st and I'm now 11st 5. TW 9st 10. Had a home made smoothie, tuna salad and turkey stew. Couple of oat cakes and nuts. Had a walk and 6 mins on the bike this AM.

cricketmum84 · 23/06/2021 07:32

Morning all :)

Two lots of exciting news from me!! Firstly I'm down another 1lb so 5lbs for the month so far. Just one week left to lose the last 2lbs for this month :)

Secondly I got my blood test results through last night! My HBA1C (average blood glucose level over last three months) has dropped from 68 to 36! Anything below 42 is classed as not diabetic! I'm not speaking to the diabetic nurse until Monday but I'm hoping they will start reducing medication for me and see if I can go it alone with diet control only. I'm not ashamed to say I had a little cry when I saw them!

Hope everyone is doing well still!

Morning everyone, once again doing terribly. The last month has been a bit of a disaster a relative died and I was unable to get home to see her beforehand or afterwards for the funeral due to travel restrictions so I buried my feelings in way to much wine and carbs. I then got taken down by covid and have spent the last 2 weeks unable to exercise at all and with little energy to cook healthy food i've been eating way to much bung it in the oven from the freezer or a jar style meals. I think I have probably gained multiple Kgs. Back at it this week though with 16:8 fasting and I am inspired by your meal plan @cricketmum84 I got really into meal planning at the start of the year and it helped not just with weight but budgeting as well so I will be trying to get back to that.

Ardagusdubh · 23/06/2021 10:52

Congratulations @cricketmum84- excellent news, your hard work has paid off 👏
So sorry for your loss @forrestttheout, not being able to be there makes it even worse.

June has been a wash out, unfortunately. I gained 3 lbs that hung around as I was stuffing the chocolate and junk food down like I was in a panic. Why do I do this??
Actually ate so much the other day I felt really sick. Feels like a turning point though. I have really upped the water (out of necessity as so thirsty) and slowed down my eating and started trying to plan out my meals more. I've lost 2 lbs and really hoping to lose another 2 before the end of June to at least leave me with a tiny loss this month 🤞

MistySkiesAfterRain · 23/06/2021 23:05

Busted my diet, help! I've been doing so well, no junk for over a week and a half, hit all my nutritional targets, including balanced carbs, protein, fat.

Yesterday I was pretty hungry so I had slightly more carbs and ate more frequently but smaller amounts. Went to bed satisfied and happy.

Woke up cranky and anxious, about work, and with a complete inability to focus. I took my blood pressure which was a little low and decided that it must be low salt as I was craving ready salted crisps the day before. Also on some meds that can lower sodium levels. Every cell in my body felt tired. Had some plain nuts with a smatter of salt (adding own salt is much nicer!).

All ok...yet then went and bought multipack of baked crisps and ate 5 of them, plus about 75g of raisins covered in thick chocolate, and a fruit smoothie.

Lunch was a small ham salad and dinner was soup, a small chicken roll, and later a few small meatballs and beans. Not much greens, a tonne of sugar.

Over several years I feel like I have screwed up my metabolism, bloods always come back normal. I felt really cheated not being able to focus as I have been doing everything right.

Anyway back to it tomorrow, come what may!!

Vebrithien · 24/06/2021 08:57

Morning all!

I'm rejoining these threads, after about 18 months out to have DS. The pregnancy was difficult, and we nearly lost him more than once. Despite my waters going at 26 weeks, and him being born at 34 weeks, we're all doing well. I seem to remember that I popped a photo on here when he was born, you were all so supportive.

So, I've now returned to work, and am dealing with shifting pregnancy/lockdown weight. Last time, I managed to get down to just overweight, so that is my first goal.

June start weight =103.8kg
Weight today = 100.0kg

Loss so far this month = 3.8kg

My first aim was to get into double figures (looking good...)
My next aim is to get to 92kg. This will be just 'overweight', rather than obese.

I'm still breastfeeding, so trying to be careful, am tending to have a protein rich breakfast, very light lunch and a smaller dinner than previously. Also, not really drinking alcohol.

Glad to hear that you are starting to feel a bit better @cricketmum84
