@TheRealHousewife has given me the honour of starting our new thread so here we go....

I can't work out how to copy her helpful links over but if you go
to thread you can look them up and also read the thread and get a feel for if this is the place for you.

We are a friendly bunch with lots of support, advice, hand holding and no judgement at all.

I am doing Intermittent Fasting and run several times a week. Others are calorie counting and walking lots. All our welcome. Post as little or as much as you want. I didn't post my weight for months and was still fully welcomed and involved.

@HalfShrunkMoreToGo is our star pupil with spreadsheets but we have all done really well and I am proud of each and everyone of you.

Here's to a good month and let's get going.

OH! Thank you @swampytiggaa I very much like the sound of that phrase

SunshineCake · 14/05/2021 22:19

Welcome @swampytiggaa. What is your routine for running? I started Couch25k last May and got up to 10km three times a week. Now I run 6.5-7km each time and vary when I run. Sometimes every other day, sometimes every day for four days then a day off, sometimes two days running then one off. I'm no longer fretting about missing a day much. Due to run tmw, postponed now as meeting a friend but I wonder what the best routine is as I have back and keg pain at times but feel I need longer off running to rest it than I would like. Also, mentally I struggle sometimes if I want to run and think I can't due to kids, jobs, etc.

I have thought about offering some clothes to a friend @Puffalicious but didn't know how to without potentially offending her. I made a comment about my clothes and she didn't say anything so I don't think she wants them. I just said to dh I was expecting him to appraise me each day and let me know if he didn't like what I was wearing or it didn't fit and he hasn't been. Turns out I asked him in my head so he had no clue Grin.

Great exercise there @BrioLover and your own NSV with not thinking about your diet too much.

@SunshineCake I run most days tbh. I lead a group on Monday and Wednesday evenings. I do a long run with friends Tuesday Saturday and Sunday mornings and meet a friend for a pootle on a Friday afternoon. I’m quite a leisurely runner tho 😂😂 and very chatty

Running a marathon in October so building my distance up 😊

Ionacat · 15/05/2021 09:04

Wow @swampytiggaa I’m getting back into running again. (Have my first session with a running club on Tuesday - I am assured that it is for slow people like me who don’t feel up to the main club and being left at the back!) I really want to be able to run 10K as I’ve never managed it - I’m hoping joining a group might give me some motivation!

Oh I wish you could join my club! Well you can if you live in north Devon 😂😂 we enjoy our runs but we are also very chatty and friendly and plan stuff around food/cake/alcohol. It’s brilliant.
daisyjgrey · 15/05/2021 14:53

I'm impressed by all the running! I was built for comfort, not speed and definitely not a runner, despite being a gymnast in a former life. I do swim well though, which is a plus.

I weighed myself Monday just gone and I'd lost another 4lb, so 7 in total in 2 weeks. I know this will slow down massively soon so I'll take the victory while it's there.

I've bagged myself a juicy chest infection so I'm mainlining paracetamol and amoxicillin at the minute. I idly scanned the barcode on my Soothers (the only thing that even attempts to reduce the coughing and sore throat levels) and am horrified that they're 20 calories EACH! Furious that I'll have to waste probably 100 calories a day (which could be used on much more delicious things, like a chocolate buttons), on bloody throat sweets. Hmph.

SunshineCake · 15/05/2021 22:03

Hope you feel better soon @daisyjgrey.

Hello, I had a good week - sensible food choices, and exercise every day, and I lost 2lb, which makes 3lb so far in May. The rain has held off long enough today for a bike ride and for me to mow the lawn, so it makes for a good weekend 😁

Puffalicious · 16/05/2021 16:15

Having a very hungry day. Had a hungry one yesterday too, but I'm ravenous today. Trying to make healthy/ non sugar choices but I just opted for a few cashews thinking it would satisfy me until dinner a day I've eaten loads and loads! Blush

I'm not amused at myself. At all. Stay well daisyjgrey chest infections such.

SunshineCake · 16/05/2021 17:36

Well done @Reachforthestars00. That is a great loss.

I haven't posted a nett loss yet this month but have lost something as got off what I put on in between weigh ins.

Don't fret @Puffalicious. Sometimes we just need more. Are you eating enough at your meals or have you been so busy your body needs more fuel?

Been a busy weekend here but I'm sitting now and hoping not to have to do anything else major today. Hope to run tomorrow. There is only one school run to do in the morning now so as long as dh is free to do it I should be able to run whenever I want. Haven't been since Thursday so apprehensive as to how tomorrow's run will go.

SunshineCat is poorly so will have to ring the vet tomorrow Sad.

Puffalicious · 16/05/2021 18:48

No different a day than normal, Sunshine but 15 mins until eating time over so I'll put this day to bed.

Sorry about your cat. I'm not a cat lover (shuddersGrin) but my ndn is obsessed by hers and I feed them now and again. When she's worried about one of them I see the stress on her face, so I hope everything's OK.

Ionacat · 16/05/2021 19:10

@swampytiggaa Your running club sounds amazing - I’m a bit far from North Devon though!

Good day here so far. I have had a marathon cooking session for the freezer - sausage cassoulet (with hidden veg!), macaroni cheese for DC (also with hidden veg), oat biscuits and jammy biscuits (aided by my youngest DC) for the DC lunches plus meringue nests to use up the egg whites. The upside of all that cooking is that it had the opposite effect on my appetite and had a normal portion of dinner! I’ve also been out for a run and cleared up after all of the above. My feet are aching and I’m now not intending to leave the sofa!

Hope your cat is okay @SunshineCake. I adore my pair - they’re my boys and one of them is currently on my lap preventing me from doing my crotchet! I’m sure your run will be fine tomorrow and as I said to myself struggling into the rain at least I’m out here!

swampytiggaa · 16/05/2021 19:16

Oh god I got so wet this morning 😭😭 absolutely soaked. 10 hilly miles done tho bringing my total for the week to 46 miles 😊

Knackered now

swampytiggaa · 16/05/2021 19:18

@SunshineCake hope your cat is ok 💕 I have 3 and adore them. I call them the idiot sisters 😂😂

Rewis · 16/05/2021 21:16

@swampytiggaa I was reading the first words of your post and got very jelous until I got to the part about hilly miles Wink
Can you tell that me and my bf have been stuck to different countries due to covid Halo

Anyway, I've cycled twice this weekend for over 30min. Gonna need to get to the gym and to running. I'll try to go before work tomorrow for a run. One of the perks WFH is not ahving to shower change clothes. so it seriously only takes the 30min. I should be coaching football this week but it get a bit borign with the restrictions since you can't actually take the ball away from the other player.

Was the weigh-in on wednesdays to those who want?

SunshineCake · 16/05/2021 21:35

Just been well and truly told off by dd. Not justified. She's so rude.

Just eaten ten Pringles. I feel quite poorly this evening plus exhausted.

Worried about SunshineCat. She is the middle of the two, half sister to older cat and they are both nine this year with the kitten being three. DS2 adores her and will be beyond heartbroken if she died.

Also feeling upset as a friend's dad has died and I am trying to find some flowers to send her and even when I click on sympathy they seem too cheery. Can anyone recommend some please? I've never sent sympathy flowers before.

SunshineCake · 16/05/2021 21:37

Weigh whenever you want @Rewis. It was just for a while we did Wednesday weigh in - WOW Weigh On Wednesday but people do what suits. I have stuck to WOW as Puffalicious only lets me weigh once a week Grin.

BrioLover · 16/05/2021 22:03

@SunshineCake I was sent an orchid when my mum died and 8 years later it still blooms! So I'd always recommend that. It will last long after the other flowers have died. The M&S ones are good and I think they deliver.

I do hope your DCat is ok. We have a 6 month old black ninja who we rescued in February. Our previous girl lasted till she was 16 and was just the kindest purry thing. This ninja will be just as gentle when she settles down I think.

I've had a bit of a shite weekend food wise, self-sabotage. Doing my usual 16:8 as of tomorrow and have lots of veg prepped in the fridge so feeling fairly good about that.

daisyjgrey · 17/05/2021 07:48

@swampytiggaa Oh! I'm in north devon. Always surprises me when people say they're from here, no idea why though.

I'll send positive running thoughts...I shall not be legging it up any hills, sorry!

I am in Bideford 😊 if you see a group of runners in purple tops either out running or on the pub then that’ll be us 😊

daisyjgrey · 17/05/2021 08:41

@swampytiggaa Oh God! So am I! 😂😂😂

daisyjgrey · 17/05/2021 08:42

@swampytiggaa I see the JustJog people out when I take my daughter to rugby, I would be the one shuffling, about 20 minutes behind the rest if I joined!

swampytiggaa · 17/05/2021 08:47

Not if you joined my group… think about it! We are lovely 😊 try parkrun when it restarts we love walkers as well as runners 😊

TheRealHousewife · 17/05/2021 08:48

We are rushing out the door @SunshineCake but I feel I have to comment.
If my girls are ever rude to me I call them on it immediately and quite forcefully i.e. how dare you speak to me like that (esp. after her disgraceful behaviour in the summer and all she put you through).
Family life only works if all team members pull together - not necessarily equally - but you give far far far more than you take.
DH would also go through DD1 or DD2 for a shortcut in similar circumstances.
You don't deserve rudeness from her and I am upset on your behalf.Flowers
