I’m loving that rule of thumb knitting, it has really tickled me. No need for it here though - small boobs, which I was amazed to learn were actually a 32C/30D a few years ago. DH refused to believe that I was a D cup until I threw him the bra that fit perfectly. I had previously worn a 36A. That’s what growing up in the page 3 era does for you I think!

I was 9st 4.75lb yesterday (half a pound down) and am the same today. I don’t walk at the weekend generally, and with a busy day ahead tomorrow, probably won’t walk until Tuesday. The challenge for me will be staying at this weight before a walk boosts some more weight loss. But I’m going in the right direction.

I feel for you So as my youngest has SN and SEN and I have tough days too. But it seems that you’re having a prolonged difficult time with your DD and I’m sorry about that.

Sooverthemill · 25/04/2021 10:43

@WellTidy thank you. She's been bed bound for 8 years nearly and though we've avoided hospital admissions for now 3 years I feel another may be coming up once Covid less all consuming of NHS. At the moment she can't stop vomiting which is a worry.

purplegirl13 · 25/04/2021 13:07

Have never tried the boob or bust method but will have a look in the week - I'm no idea what size I am with the weight gain, current wearing 32GG but it's tight around the band. and there's overspill. I'm normally a 30G/GG when I'm about 9st. No smaller than a G cup though, even at 8st+

@Sooverthemill I am sorry to hear it's tough for you at the moment.

@WellTidy you're doing so well with your walking but realistically a few days without walking might just mean a smaller loss this week but unlikely to mean a gain.

I'm still feeling a bit lightheaded and need to go to A&E for an ecg but didn't want to go over the weekend and will go in the week (when I imagine it might be quieter). GP was happy with this approach and I promised to go asap if I felt really unwell or h/r dropped below a certain number. I did see GP on Friday and blood pressure is normal.

purplegirl13 · 26/04/2021 09:03

Posting for accountability.

Today's plan:
B - Greek yogurt with mango
L - Salad with 2 boiled eggs
S - vanilla kefir drink
D - rice and dal

Calories are light so need to increase - possibly with some nuts.

I've woken up feeling better than I have done in days, am tired but much clearer and not so 'foggy'. I need to be job hunting so will take it easy this morning and sit myself at the laptop this afternoon.

Knittingnanny · 26/04/2021 12:00

Greek yog with banana at 11 am
Nuts snack at 3
Chicken and veg, yog and berries at 6
Couple of rice cakes if I’m hungry still before bed.
Got baby grandson this afternoon so a beach walk plus playing on the floor with him to take my mind off the pile of chocolate husband still has left from his birthday. I’m on day 18 of no sugar and it’s ok as long as I don’t have even one sniff of a grain!

SwimmingOnEggshells · 26/04/2021 16:57

Hi everyone, I had a mediocre weekend food-wise. I had very light lunches but had steak one night and then take away last night. Alcohol was moderate which is good.

I started off with good intentions today and yet again today I've managed to eat nearly a whole Terry's chocolate orange Blush

Food for today is:
coffee for breakfast
greek yoghurt and oats for lunch
lots of chocolate...
vegetarian lasagne

that all sounds so tough @Sooverthemill, you must be run ragged Flowers

Morningmaeve · 27/04/2021 08:43

Sorry to hear things are so tough for you @Sooverthemill. My usual pattern has continued - weekend where I 'forgot' I was trying to lose weight and then back in the game come monday. No wonder progress is slow. I don't mind easing up a bit at the weekend but I think I am undoing quite a lot of my efforts during the week. I need a more consistent approach...and fewer carbs....and less wine!

purplegirl13 · 27/04/2021 10:21

@Knittingnanny It sounds like those chocolates are going to be around FOREVER the way your husband eats them.

@SwimmingOnEggshells We know that half the battle is getting in the 'zone'. There will be good and bad days/weeks but the trick is to keep plodding along. Sounds like a good weekend and moderating alcohol intake is a win in my book, as are the lighter lunches before a more calorific dinner. I find the more sugar I have the more I want as you get a taste for the chocolate again. Do your best today but don't beat yourself up if doesn't go as well as you'd hoped.
Do you have a recipe for the veggie lasagne? I've been trying different veg lasagne recipes since last summer and always on the hunt for more.

@Morningmaeve how about easing up on dinner or lunches at the weekend but not the whole day? Or carb heavy one meal? Or one bottle of wine for the weekend? These might not work for you but a few possible options there.

Today:
B - 3 egg omelette with cheese and veggie bacon pieces (I woke up hungry!)
L - salad with a handful of these www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/huvudroll-vegetable-balls-frozen-70487795/
D - rice and some of the sweet & sour tofu I made last week (froze a portion)
S - not sure yet

Have a good day everyone

purplegirl13 · 27/04/2021 10:25

@SwimmingOnEggshells

Editing as I don't want to get stuck in good/bad terminology
There will be good and bad off-plan days/weeks but the trick is to keep plodding along. Sounds like a good lovely weekend and moderating alcohol intake is a win in my book, as are the lighter lunches before a more calorific dinner heavier meals.

AuldFox · 27/04/2021 11:06

Sounds very tough for you and your daughter @Sooverthemill wishing you both brighter days very soon Flowers

Knittingnanny · 27/04/2021 11:10

Purple, I just wish I could enjoy chocolate in the same way. I’m pretending they are not there. In the past I’ve even eaten cooking chocolate from my baking cupboard when I’ve had out of control cravings.
I have a good friend who is a recovering alcoholic and hasn’t had a drink for 35 years. However he still goes to AA meetings and says if he had one drink he would immediately be back to square one. Probably more extreme than a chocolate addiction but I know there will never be a time when I could just eat a couple of squares and stop.
Today’s plan is
Poached eggs
Nuts for snacks
Steak , small portion of oven chips and veg , yog and berries .
And watch the chocolate being eaten again!
I’ve got some crochet to finish tonight so will be keeping my mind off it!

Knittingnanny · 27/04/2021 11:11

Sooverthemill, how old is your daughter?

CardiganOfDoom · 27/04/2021 17:31

I'm off the VLCD with a weigh in of 8st 12.5lb. I'm now hoping that a combination of no breakfast, salad or soup lunch, no snacks, no booze and proper exercise again will see me slowly losing.

Monday:
Soup made from bag of watercress, rocket etc that was about to go off.
Skate wing roasted in the oven with potatoes, garlic and tomatoes on the vine
Power zone spin class on the Peloton (tough)
Yoga class
1 hour dog walk

Today
Salmon salad
Planning a Mexican roast pork dish my husband had bought, with guacamole and sweet corn salad. A bit much but it an the avocado needed using up.
Full body weights class
1 hour dog walk
3/4 hour garden centre walk

CardiganOfDoom · 27/04/2021 17:36

@Sooverthemill Well done on losing despite trying times! I always fall face first into something delicious (cheese, or, in times past, booze) if I'm stressed. Wishing you all the best.

Sooverthemill · 28/04/2021 10:06

Thank you everyone. Usually it's manageable and I try not to moan but it's just got so much harder since around September and with little NHS support allowed into the home it's tough. But we just keep on going. DD is 22 and has been unwell like this since September 2013 when she was 14.

So I'm doing okay food wise. I did 'treat' myself with a small glas of white wine which I really felt I needed! We have stopped buying large bottles and get those ridiculously expensive 87cl bottles which give 2 x pub measures. DH is happy with that and so am I. Helps the waistline! I tried on a dress today for DD1s wedding in July which I am hoping DD will be well enough for me to attend. DD will definitely not. And DH gave me a lovely compliment which boosted me hugely. I think even if I don't manage to lose those 6 lbs I will look okay!

purplegirl13 · 28/04/2021 10:40

@Knittingnanny I've also reached for the baking chocolate on more than one occasion, I also regret it afterwards though as it's not nice! I'm similar as I can't seem to control myself so don't have bread, crisps etc in but I would like to try and work on that at some point. Like you, I can't ever see a time where I wouldn't binge on a multipack of crisps

You've just reminded me that I wanted poached eggs - will add to my meal plan for the weekend. I've got cans of sweetcorn I want to use so I'm thinking of making sweetcorn fritters to go with the poached eggs.

@CardiganOfDoom I'm impressed with the exercise you're doing! Are they online classes?

@Sooverthemill I am glad you feel good about the wedding outfit!

I was also thinking of getting myself a few mini bottles of wine for the days I just want one glass. I've got an open bottle of red that I've only had a couple of small glasses from. I just don't want to drink it so I am planning of freezing the rest to use in cooking at a later date. I buy the small mini tubs of ice cream when on offer as they are useful for portion control when I want a quick ice cream hit.

Today:
B - greek yogurt and mango
L - salad with a handful of these www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/huvudroll-vegetable-balls-frozen-70487795/ (was planned for yesterday)
D - some sort of freezer food, shove in the oven job.
Snack options - kefir yogurt, nuts

I need to up my calories as I have been unintentionally coming in on the lower side so am going to move to full-fat greek yogurt and snack on portion controlled nuts if I need to.

I was hoping for a 1lb loss this week but not sure it'll happen as I've not been moving much recently, I'll be pleased with any loss tbh. If I lose one more lb, I'll have hit the milestone of half a stone lost!

CardiganOfDoom · 28/04/2021 11:22

@Sooverthemill Fingers crossed you do get to go. Have you anyone who could take care of your DD for the day?

@purplegirl13 The classes are all on the Peloton. It was a lockdown purchase in June last year when my local CrossFit closed - we bought on interest free credit which we never usually do, but it worked out so nicely that the CrossFit payments covered it. It really is the most motivating form of exercise you can do, especially if you're an ex-runner, because you can still get that endorphin rush in 30-45 minutes of exercise - unlike on the real bike where the exercise can't be as continuously high (downhills, traffic lights, etc.)

Today is

Lunch: gazpacho made from fridge leavings with a slice of granary sourdough
Dinner: ready made fish pie which is 500 odd calories a portion, plus peas.
Exercise:
1 hour dog walk
45 minute power zone endurance ride

SwimmingOnEggshells · 28/04/2021 11:33

@CardiganOfDoom you are insanely focused, I don't know how you do it.

Very so-so for me, unlikely to see a loss this week but I'm trying to stay on the thread because if I leave entirely I think I'll never get back into diet mode.

WellTidy · 28/04/2021 12:00

Today is DS2's birthday. A friend has made him a beautiful cake, so I am definitely having some of that later. Just eating healthily today with that in mind, and will walk for an hour over lunch to help things along!

I walked for 90 minutes yesterday, which I think is about five and a bit miles. I discovered podcasts at the start of the year (however many years later than everyone else!) and I love listening to them when I walk. My walk routes are pretty predictable, so the podcasts help make them enjoyable.

I think small bottles of wine and small tubs of ice cream are the way to go if that's your thing. I like both, but can say no to them. My downfall is chocolate - I find portion control really hard, so I buy freddos, single fingers of fudge and the little dairy milk bars. Each is just less than 100 calories, and whilst I would love to eat lots of them, I am able to just have one. Pastries are a real issue for me and each individual pastry is a good 350 calories, so that is much harder for me to control.

Sooverthemill · 28/04/2021 12:54

@CardiganOfDoom I’ve booked a sitter as DD cannot be left alone at all but when she is really unwell I cannot leave her with anyone but me or DH. The longest I can leave her with a sitter is 2 hours anyway as her needs are so complex. No care agency will take her on sadly

Gingernaut · 28/04/2021 13:03

Less than 5 feet tall and 12 and a half stone.

I am appalled at myself - I had lost nearly three stones, but bad habits, binge eating and ADHD meds have all combined to put two and a half stone back on.

I've started deliberately losing weight again and this morning had lost 2 pounds from last week.

I've got doctor certified sick leave until next Thursday and I want to concentrate on me - my physical health (many, many issues), mental health, weight and career goals.

Zoomoff · 28/04/2021 13:24

I've been lurking for a couple of weeks. After a few weeks of fluctuating up a couple of pounds and down to 13.3, for the last couple of days the scales have been on 13.0.4. I did a lot of hiking last weekend and, while not far in distance, was a lot of climbing. Nearly killed me the first time, but the same path was a lot easier by the third. I don't think taller people realise how much higher a step is for us than if you're 5'10" (DH doesn't anyway!). I have a few clients today so no daytime walk but hoping to get out tonight as I have an early finish.

SwimmingOnEggshells · 28/04/2021 14:54

Welcome @Gingernaut, it's just so so easy to put on weight, especially when you're on certain meds. Sounds like you have a good plan in place, self care is so important :)

Gingernaut · 28/04/2021 14:56

self care is so important

Yup. Tell me about it. ☹🙄😳😔

CardiganOfDoom · 28/04/2021 15:54

@SwimmingOnEggshells - yeah, but I find it really really hard to lose weight. I bet my portions are too big, but I'm trying hard enough with the snacks and the booze for now.
