this might sound daft but do you think your eating enough

No I really don't, it's not healthy at all! Going to try adding breakfast in tomorrow - I have some seeded bread so could have that with avocado and a poached egg. Or maybe peanut butter - that would feel like a treat!

whatsthestory123 · 24/02/2021 20:06

oh yes ive bought some meridian peanut butter and no palm oil in it

i wonder how long it takes from injection to work?

just had a couple of strawberries and a small handfull of grapes

I'm sure I read that it's most effective 11-13 hours after you take it.

whatsthestory123 · 24/02/2021 21:00

interesting will try and ajust my time as im bloody starving, just had an apple

thinking of going to watch tv in bed as its further from the kitchen lol

When do you go up a dose? I'm interested to see how I am tomorrow after increasing tonight.

PickleStick · 24/02/2021 21:09

I did look into saxenda but the potential side effects are just too worrying for me to consider it really. It comes with the FDAs highest warning for side effects too. Zoe Hardombe has written an excellent article about it - I honestly would approach with caution.

whatsthestory123 · 24/02/2021 21:17

i think its about day 17 but im sure it also says about hunger so you can go up then

that means that the pen becomes more expensive as using more liquid for fewer days

i will give it till week 2 is finished and see if my weight goes down so that will be next tuesday

@whatsthestory123 that's a good way to think about it. 2 stone would be a huge difference. And if I aim to lose 2-3lbs per week then that should be achievable by the end of April.

Everythingmagnolia · 24/02/2021 21:47

Reading with interest. I have looked into Saxenda several times, but the possible side effects worry me, particularly pancreatic cancer.

andadietcoke · 24/02/2021 21:54

Pancreatitis, although obviously can progress. Thyroid cancer, but only in mice.

But I've also read the NICE assessments, the NEJM articles, and I've made my peace with it. Obesity comes with massive risks and I have hypertension.

sal1223 · 24/02/2021 21:58

I had an appointment with Lloyds pharmacy and she said it's been rigorously tested so she's happy that saxenda is safe - she said it doesn't really matter when you take it as it's in tour system for 24 hours . I've not taken it yet (have 1 in the fridge) because I've had an upset stomach -possible food poisoning since last Thursday so barely eaten a thing ! Hopefully this has shrunk my stomach a bit so gives me a bit of a head start 😅

LondonMiss · 24/02/2021 22:21

I tried it but it wiped me out, I literally slept all day

whatsthestory123 · 24/02/2021 22:54

sal1223 sorry to hear that and hope the worst is over

LondonMiss really its interesting how everybody has differrent effects from it

well im in bed and so far have resisted any more food than what i had for dinner coming in at around 800 cals but not sure its good to be that low,i better loose a coupleof pounds this week

I have some in the fridge but haven't started it yet, am looking at starting this weekend.

andadietcoke · 25/02/2021 07:19

So, after swearing blind I'd only weigh myself once a week I...weighed myself. Justification is that I realised that if I started on Wednesday at 10pm then Thursday morning is a full week (all about the rationale). Anyway, glad I did - not sure if yesterday was a scale glitch but I'm 9lbs off this morning which feels more in line with my 6lbs at the weekend, and makes me much happier.

Kaftankween · 25/02/2021 08:53

Hi Everyone. I’m a saxenda veteran so just wanted to give you all a longer term view of how it’s gone for me. I’ve been taking saxenda since July 2020 and have lost 5 st. I’ve been overweight my whole life really but saxenda has really helped me to change my mindset (I hope). I plan to stop in 2-3 months as the cost is so great but go back on intermittently if I need to. I lost the first 3 stone relativity quickly but the last 2 have been slow but I have kept on keeping on. I’ve really reduced carbs and also done some intermittent fasting. Wishing you all luck. Feel free to ask me any questions.

andadietcoke · 25/02/2021 09:05

@Kaftankween that's amazing, well done. And thank you for popping in. Did you count calories or just carbs? I'm really struggling to eat a decent amount of calories.

Kaftankween · 25/02/2021 09:26

@andadietcoke thank you. I didn't really count calories at all but have much smaller portions and try to listen to when my tummy says it's full. I'm hoping that will stay with me when I stop saxenda.

I have to say I have been trying to eat pretty healthily. Much less sugar, alcohol, fewer refined carbs. You definitely have to work with it but it is much easier to do with saxenda (I'm finding) than I've ever found it without.

Kaftankween · 25/02/2021 09:32

Also, I didn't worry in the early days about not eating enough. There were days when I probably only had a bit of lettuce and some chicken.

That doesn't last and you will eat more and need to bring your self control in to play more. I tried not to override those feelings of fullness. They are definitely the early quick wins.

Having said that, I've mostly been in lockdown all that time and have older children so perhaps didn't need the energy levels others might.
