Anyone keen for a 6 week challenge?

I do well with shorter goals and am hoping to focus on shifting some weight and being more active.

Anyone else care to join and see how much weight we can shift (sensibly!) in the next 6 weeks?

People are welcome to join anytime, I personally will be counting from Monday 7th until March 22nd. I was hit pretty hard by lockdown and am the biggest I’ve ever been... I’ve already managed to shift a little bit of weight, now looking to tackle my long term eating habits and sedentary lifestyle in the coming period.

I’ll be sticking to the following :

  1. No snacking.
  2. 5 fruit/veg per day, protein source at every meal.
  3. Trying to hit 10,000 steps a day.

Other than that, I’m not following any diet in particular, I’m trying to change my habits for the long haul. And of course, being comfortable in summer will be an added bonus!

In these 6 weeks, I’m hoping to shift 8-9 pounds, as well as losing a couple of inches off my belly and bum.

Any takers?

I weighed myself today and I'm 2lbs lighter. I'm very pleased with that. I'm finding doing the 16:8 quite easy so far, so hoping I can keep at it.

Off out for a walk now to do my 10,000 steps.

Readette · 14/02/2021 13:48

Thanks for the welcome @NoNameNellie .
And great work @clto2021 & @OhMsBelieverSmile
I'm in prep mode today - meal plan for week and fridge stocked. I might even venture for run if there's gap in rain!
@QueenOfCatan - I've been using the Peleton app - it has good HIIT and strength classes and even some running HIIT ones for outside. We don't have the bike but still think the app is good. It's a monthly cost but cheaper than my current frozen gym gym membership!
I'd like to do some strength stuff - anyone tried to buy any dumbbells or anything recently? Look at Argos but nothing in stock local to here.

NoNameNellie · 14/02/2021 14:35

@CarlottaValdez it’s alright, these things happen. Important not to beat you’re self up over it, but continue the good work the next day.

@Fembot123 argh that’s a pain! Well, at least you know you’ll be getting you’re true weight from now on. Keep going!

@OhMsBeliever well done! That’s great work, a very sustainable loss!

@Readette ooh I didn’t know there was an app with other exercises! I’ve been doing some home stuff and lots of walking, but I’m desperate for the gyms and pools to open back up! Or at the very least warm weather and longer days so that I can start running again!

Well I’ve just got back from a 5 mile walk and feel a bit better, onwards and upwards 😁

Fembot123 · 14/02/2021 16:10

Or downwards even

buckeejit · 14/02/2021 18:27

Going great everyone!

@QueenOfCatan I have more than 20kg to lose but focusing on stages. 1 stone + gone & another stone to go for stage one.

I'm odd to make an omelette for tea even though I really want the pizza that dh is making for the Cubs & him! I will be strong! Weigh in in the morning for me & hoping for a good result

ElvenDreamer · 14/02/2021 20:17

It's been an ok week for me overall I think. Generally eaten well, done my short exercise app each day, went for a 5k run this morning which I've been doing each Sunday morning for the last few weeks with my eldest for some 1 on 1 time together. Been a bit under on steps in week so need to try and up that a bit, no puppy to motivate me there, I'm a cat person 🤣 Been interesting tracking when I want to eat, when I feel tired etc, think there are a few little patterns I can tweak to make changes to set me up better. Enjoying reading everyone's posts, we've got this folks!

ChonkyChook · 14/02/2021 20:37

I need to get running with you all! Huge well-done to everyone 💪

I'm possibly about to ruin tomorrow's weigh in with a steak and asparagus and a g&t but did manage a big walk. Grin least I said no thanks to the potatoes.....

Lostsoul231 · 14/02/2021 21:26

Well done to those who have been good over the weekend. I did really well last week but have totally overindulged with food and wine over the weekend so we will see how the scales look in the morning Shock

NoNameNellie · 14/02/2021 21:49

Great work, sixers! I’ve had a very average week for food, but hoping the walking I’ve been doing will at least help me break even. I’ll weigh in tomorrow, at the very least, I hope I haven’t gained weight...

It's a marathon, not a sprint!

This is my first drink in weeks and I've not snacked or skipped daily exercise. I'll be healthier if not slimmer.

ChonkyChook · 15/02/2021 08:16

75.1!!!!!!! pulls shirt over head and runs around like footballer

Was 77 last week. 79 the week before.

Fully expect to plateau next week but I'll take maintaining as a success.

CarlottaValdez · 15/02/2021 08:20

I’ve lost 1.5 lbs this week which I’m very happy with! I’ve been hovering around the same weight since just before Christmas so a loss is great!

Also I met a friend for a walk yesterday and she suddenly said oh you’ve lost loads of weight! I have lost about 30lbs since April but nobody had noticed. Overall feeling pretty good.

PurpleDaisies · 15/02/2021 08:31

I’m up 0.5kg on last week but still under my old target so I’m pretty happy considering this weekend has been a disaster diet wise. Back on track today.

RunnyPaint · 15/02/2021 08:52

Well done @Chonky and @Catlotta! I'm down 1lbs on last week Smile, but I was another 2lbs lighter in the middle of the week Sad We did have big dinners and Valentine chocolates over the weekend, so it's not really a surprise.

I've decided to extend my no booze, no crisps and only healthy snacks regime to Easter. DD (11 years old, skinny but unfit) is also giving up crisps for Lent and she's going to start running with me. The ice has gone here, so we're off for week 1 of Couchto5k shortly. I usually run 5km three times per week (ice permitting), so it'll be good if she keeps this up... until she gets faster than me and leaves me for dust Grin

Fembot123 · 15/02/2021 08:59

Well done all 😁🥳

fudgecat · 15/02/2021 09:00

Well it's a tiny loss for me, last Monday 68.1 this morning 67.8

PhoenixBlaze · 15/02/2021 09:55

Checking in to report a 3lbs loss - not quite sure how as I drank aaaaall the wine and gin over the weekend but I did manage to stop meaningless snacking apart from half DD1's lindt bunny yesterday so clearly it was accounting for a lot of the extra weight.

Not anticipating an easy week ahead - leftover Valentine's choc in the cupboard and pancakes tomorrow Wine

Fembot123 · 15/02/2021 10:01

Lostsoul231 · 15/02/2021 10:43

4 lbs lighter than last Monday! Smile I am really pleased with that, particularly as I ate and drank lots on Saturday night

Get in, that’s brilliant 😄
NoNameNellie · 15/02/2021 14:36

Well done all!!! So great to see our efforts are being rewarded!

I’ve gone from 69.9 to 69.5, hardly a loss, but I’ve had a very food heavy week, so I’m just pleased I haven’t gained!

NoNameNellie · 15/02/2021 17:15

Checking back in to report 17,600 steps today! Eating has been pretty good, but going to have burgers for dinner and a little wine...

Having seen how the first week has gone, are you planning to make any changes for week 2?

I definitely need to clean up my diet. I’m pleased with all the walking I’ve managed, but will need to rethink the exercise when I’m back at work in a week.

OP posts:
CarlottaValdez · 15/02/2021 18:20

I’m planning to try to up my exercise a bit. So I’ll continue the three C25k runs a week but add some more on the in between days.
