Anyone keen for a 6 week challenge?

I do well with shorter goals and am hoping to focus on shifting some weight and being more active.

Anyone else care to join and see how much weight we can shift (sensibly!) in the next 6 weeks?

People are welcome to join anytime, I personally will be counting from Monday 7th until March 22nd. I was hit pretty hard by lockdown and am the biggest I’ve ever been... I’ve already managed to shift a little bit of weight, now looking to tackle my long term eating habits and sedentary lifestyle in the coming period.

I’ll be sticking to the following :

  1. No snacking.
  2. 5 fruit/veg per day, protein source at every meal.
  3. Trying to hit 10,000 steps a day.

Other than that, I’m not following any diet in particular, I’m trying to change my habits for the long haul. And of course, being comfortable in summer will be an added bonus!

In these 6 weeks, I’m hoping to shift 8-9 pounds, as well as losing a couple of inches off my belly and bum.

Any takers?

@NoNameNellie amazing on the steps, well done! And great work to all the losers!

I've lost 3.5lb at today's weigh in, (stayed the same last week) so over 2 weeks really.

I should be pleased but I'm honestly just so fed up. I was feeling like this all weekend, spend all week looking forward to the weekend & then it's zero fun. Hopefully will feel better tomorrow if I don't crack & open a bottle of wine tonight. I went to get everyone else in the house McDonalds at lunch & came home and had soup myself. 10lb to go until goal one but I feel like there should be more to life! Any top tips for pulling oneself out of the doldrums greatly appreciated.

Readette · 15/02/2021 18:53

Well done all - both for those who have lost but also those who are sticking with it even though it's hard going.
@buckeejit 3.5 is a really good amount - that's still just under 2lbs a week. I'm so with you though on the doldrums - everything feels never ending. Not sure I have any tips to help!! Sometimes I find the whole gratitude thing useful when everything else fails - write down 3 things you feel grateful for today. It helped me to notice today that evening was much lighter - means I can go for run now at 5pm after work bit just try to fit it in at lunch time. Takes a few days to work - and it can be nice to look back on when you have really bad day. I've also got about 10lbs to loose so will be good to have your help to keep focused!
I am starting at 11st nearly 8lbs. So ideal target is around 10st 11 ish. Hoping a good week this week will move first couple of lbs. managed a whole day (so far) without reaching for the snack box!! A good start!!

ChonkyChook · 15/02/2021 20:23

I'm pleased with my losses but I know it's easier for me as I have a good bit to lose. I need to up the exercise, I'm happy with the diet as I'm losing but mostly enjoying my food.

I'm making a cheesecake tomorrow with the kids even though I won't be having any. I'm waiting for the call from the Vatican to say they'll be Sainting me at the first opportunity because I flipping love cheesecake but it's guaranteed to result in a gain.

It’s been a difficult first week for me in the regard that I don’t know how much I’ve lost due to the scale issues and I’ve stuck to plan and exercised every day so it feels like there’s no reward in numbers but I’m sure if I carry on this way I’ll have lost more next week and now I know my weight I’ll know how much 😁 hope that makes any kind of sense, so tired.

RunnyPaint · 15/02/2021 22:42

@Fembot123, that makes perfect sense. Get some sleep!

St @ChonkyChook, you are so strong! Halo I'm dreading DD wanting to bake this week. The never-ending stream of pancakes is going to be tricky tomorrow...

We did a little bit of running this morning, and another walk this afternoon, so we chalked up over 14k steps (I'm not sure we're actually allowed out more than once per day for exercise, but it seems most people are out and about all over the place all the time). But have eaten more Valentine chocolates...

LivingMyBestLife2020 · 15/02/2021 22:54

I had my end of week one weigh in today and I’m 4.5lb down!
Started the week with a long walk, gave another planned for tomorrow and then a bike ride Wednesday and Friday

Carriemac · 16/02/2021 07:32

I had a very indulgent weekend due to DHs big birthday and much cake wine and no excessive to to terrible weather and seem to have put on 3 llbs which is disheartening. I'lm back on the wagon today with a vengeance

Fembot123 · 16/02/2021 08:33

I’ve lost 1lb 4 oz

PurpleDaisies · 16/02/2021 08:41

After yesterday’s disappointing weight in, against my usual policy of one weekly weighing, I had another go today and I’m down 0.7kg (three packs of butter). Very pleased!

I’m also quite sore after yesterday’s hiit and Zumba which is a satisfying ache. Today is pancake day which isn’t going to be particularly diet compatible.

CarlottaValdez · 16/02/2021 09:42

I did another C25k run this morning and I’m feeling pretty good. Trying to focus on behaviours rather than the scale which is so hard for me.

Chocolot01 · 16/02/2021 10:15

Great to see everyone doing so well , weighed yesterday and have lost 1.7 pounds , which I'm pleased with been following MFP but 1500 Cals and not adding in exercise ( not that I did much other than walking and sledging) am hoping to get back running this weekend. I'm another one finding it hard to get out in between home school / half term . I started the Nike workouts app for weights , which is great and free !

Fembot123 · 16/02/2021 12:39

I did an online Zumba toning class then fitness Pilates this morning

ChonkyChook · 16/02/2021 13:30

Well done to everyone on losses! 🥳🥳🥳

Again to those exercise 💪💪💪

I'm pre menstrual and I just want to curl up. Next week I'll do the dances and kettle bells. Right now I'm just focusing on not stuffing my face.

I’ll be there at the end of the week and wondering how I’ll stop myself from mainlining chocolate
ChonkyChook · 16/02/2021 13:53

I have two cans of Pepsi Max stashed away for just in case. Frozen berries with Greek yoghurt is nice and sweet, would that help the chocolate cravings?

House is full of treats and baking because it's half term. I am grouchy

NoNameNellie · 16/02/2021 14:52

@ChonkyChook same here. DC made cupcakes today and I can see them winking at me.

It’s so much easier to eat well when I’m back in my work routine! I’ve not over eaten today, nor had any snacks, but it’s heading to the danger zone just before dinner and I’m feeling very peckish... I’ll try and keep myself busy and then have an earlier dinner. Must resist the crisps!

You're all doing so well with exercise! I need to motivate myself to try something different... I'll continue with my steps for this week, but hoping to get into some online HIIT classes for the week after!

Today in food :
B : Buttered toast and jam
L : Ham, cheese and salad sandwich ; one crepe with sugar and butter
D : 3 herbed sausages, roast potatoes and broccoli. 2 Kiwi fruit and a sliver of chocolate cake for dessert.

An OK day for a holiday, for next week the bread and the sweets will go, but I'll focus on not gaining in the newt few days. I did manage my 10,000 steps though!

I'm doing cleaning eating week. I eat cabbage soup all day, second day in the row. Then three days juices. I've got bad headache.

NoNameNellie · 16/02/2021 21:46

I imagine that'd be the sugar withdrawal @Turefu. I did a similar diet once and the headaches were brutal! Hope you get a good night's sleep and feel refreshed tomorrow!

That's brutal.

Day 2-3 is always the kicker, sugar, caffeine, nicotine - doesn't matter - always a toughie.

I agree with @NoNameNellie, sleeping it off is your best bet.

dudsville · 16/02/2021 22:39

It's great to read the updates and all the motivated updates. I've also noticed I've got the same goal weight as Myfuckingfreezer, though I won't have worked as hard for it to get there - your achievement is amazing!

I've been doing stone for of exercise most days, that's massive improvement from hardly ever exercising. My diet is improved. I've heard s minor shift on the scales but I find I'm more hungry as a result of the exercise so I'm eating more.
Hopefully if I keep on I'll get there.

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 16/02/2021 23:20

Quick catch up from me, I thought half term would make things easier but not so far Sad

1.5lb off for me this week, which I'm reasonably pleased with. I stuck to my WW points all week and did a short workout every day, but did have a takeaway and a few chocolates (Valentine's present) at the weekend. I'm quite tempted by the latest Joe Wicks book - I've reserved it at the library but no idea how long that will take to get to me! - to give myself a Lent challenge too.

@QueenOfCatan I can imagine puppy training via YouTube/ Zoom is quite tricky!!

@buckeejit I have over 20kg to lose too (50lb target - 4.5lb down so far!). I've split it into smaller goals of losing 5% of my body weight (10lb), 10%, 15% etc. In total I aim to lose 25% of my body weight Shock which at 1lb per week is doable by, er, 2022. TBH I've essentially resigned myself to the fact that this year is just going to be about rebalancing my eating and getting back to a healthy body weight! I quite often make a 'pizza' using a wrap as the base BTW - useful if you're not low carbing? - just stick whatever toppings you like on, put it in the oven for about 10 minutes and it's a nice meal with a salad etc.

Today's small win: I avoided eating pancakes as I knew I'd only load them with sugar!!

Somethingkindaoooo · 16/02/2021 23:29

Can I join now?
😊

FlamingGreatGalaahs · 17/02/2021 08:26

Me too please!

God I have so much to lose but I think looking at smaller chunks of time might help.

I would like to lose 2lb a week.

Going to do more exercise every day.
Stop snacking on crap.
Get my fruit & veg intake up.
Try to stop shovelling the carbs in!

Smile
Labobo · 17/02/2021 08:38

Yes please. I'm going sugar free for Lent and not drinking during the week. I will also try the 16:8 fasting as I found that easy before Christmas. I'd like to lose about 4lb (I like to lose very slowly and not diet)
