Anyone keen for a 6 week challenge?

I do well with shorter goals and am hoping to focus on shifting some weight and being more active.

Anyone else care to join and see how much weight we can shift (sensibly!) in the next 6 weeks?

People are welcome to join anytime, I personally will be counting from Monday 7th until March 22nd. I was hit pretty hard by lockdown and am the biggest I’ve ever been... I’ve already managed to shift a little bit of weight, now looking to tackle my long term eating habits and sedentary lifestyle in the coming period.

I’ll be sticking to the following :

  1. No snacking.
  2. 5 fruit/veg per day, protein source at every meal.
  3. Trying to hit 10,000 steps a day.

Other than that, I’m not following any diet in particular, I’m trying to change my habits for the long haul. And of course, being comfortable in summer will be an added bonus!

In these 6 weeks, I’m hoping to shift 8-9 pounds, as well as losing a couple of inches off my belly and bum.

Any takers?

That’s great @ChonkyChook! @buckeejit that sounds divine.

Well done to everyone for their weight loss and fitness gains!

@CarlottaValdez 25mins running is amazing Smile I think I got up to 20 mins following the C25K then it was the school holidays and the DC refused to come out with me Sad I might try again now they are finally back at school - I did find that I had to do at least three runs a week to keep up my level of fitness, otherwise I just couldn't move up to the next week. I did a lot of walking but found running was much more challenging!

Half a pound off for me this week. Not spectacular but AF week was tough so that's better than nothing Grin

Get innnnnn... 68.3kg today!!!

And I've manage to resist a takeaway after a very long day at work, which is normally my achilles heel. I literally had the application open to order and then I lumbered off to throw together the fridge leftovers. It wasn't particularly calorie friendly, but hey.

Nice work @ClaraTheImpossibleGirl and @ChonkyChook!!

Slow and steady, if we keep going as this rate, we'll be down plenty by summer!

Have really upped the protein today and am so full.

Had a meal replacement shake for breakfast then had Greek Salad for lunch and Salmon and Avocado salad for dinner, with a protein yoghurt and some raspberries as a snack. Can honestly say I haven't been hungry all day.

Also did a 5km walk before work.

Just spotted we’re now four weeks into the six week challenge. How is everyone feeling compared to last month?

I’m definitely doing better with what I’m eating and my skin looks brighter from all the vegetables and sweaty exercise. My goals were to maintain weight loss (yes), eat more veg (yes), exercise more (yes) and make sure I’m stretching (not even a little bit). I guess I know what to do now...

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 09/03/2021 11:01

Well done on avoiding the takeaway @NoNameNellie... it's so tempting isn't it?! I find it especially hard as DP doesn't cook at all - the only thing he'll make is a massive cooked breakfast (for himself, as no-one else is bothered about having one!) - so the whole planning/ shopping/ cooking burden falls on me Sad

I do feel a bit better @PurpleDaisies, have to keep reminding myself that (for me at least!) it's going to be a long process as I have a lot to lose; if I keep losing around 1lb per week I should be at my target weight by Christmas. It's helped getting into a mindset of doing a daily 20 minute workout, PE with Joe was great for that. However, I do want to add on a regular yoga session and at some point start running again, things to work on!

Well done all and happy 4 week a versary 🥳 Someone else at work noticed I’d lost weight today which was nice until he said ‘It notices more on your face than your body’ 🤨😂

NoNameNellie · 09/03/2021 19:38

@PurpleDaisies Feeling pretty good, but it's been a rough start to the week. I'm totally overrun at work and just want to stuff my face with everything...

But, I can see the changes to my lifestyle! I'm in France where there is currently a 6pm curfew and I'v had numerous late meetings this week, so get home well after 6pm. I've had no chance to go to the supermarket because of it, but I made time to run out in my lunch break today and stock up, and whilst there I was literally in the chocolate aile when I changed my mind and went for blueberries. At first I thought they were too expensive, but then thought that I'd easily spend that much on sweets plus some and not even blink. So, managed a healthy dinner and a healthy snack today!

Not doing as much exercise as I'd like, but that'll be the next thing to tackle. I can make little changes, one step at a time.

8 mile run with a friend this evening, had to walk a bit of it but we did it!

RunnyPaint · 10/03/2021 19:03

That's amazing, @Fembot! Well done!

BlueSkyBlinking · 10/03/2021 19:24

I’ve only just found this thread and I wish I’d seen it a month ago!
Can I ask how you fit in morning exercise? At the moment between showering, breakfast, sorting kids, and working from home, I don’t know where or when to do it. I don’t fancy getting sweaty in the living room just before a meeting. Any tips for someone who’s forgotten what a normal day looks like?

I get up at 6am every other day and do a YouTube workout and then wake the DC and get started.
BlueSkyBlinking · 10/03/2021 19:49

@Fembot123 that’s extremely impressive to me. I’m knackered at 7! I should maybe go to sleep earlier.

NoNameNellie · 10/03/2021 20:05

Amazing @Fembot123! What motivation!

It's been an absolute shitter of a week for me, work is running me into the round at the moment and I'm utterly knackered. I've definitely identified exhaustion as one of my triggers for stuffing my face...

I had a burger a wedges for dinner tonight as I felt like I so needed a comfort meal. I made myself do it homemade though, hopefully it's healthier than the takeaway!

I'm just going to try and push through this eek with no mad binges, then I'll try and really knuckle down for the remaining weeks. Well done to everyone, you're all doing so well!

There is nothing like being snowed under at work for stress and stress eating and it’ll definitely be more healthy homemade than takeaway.

I’m a all or nothing person I think, I’m either on it or I’m not and that’s how come I put so much weight on in lockdown as I just wasn’t on it but worse things happen at sea. How old are you dc @BlueSkyBlinking?

PurpleDaisies · 10/03/2021 21:06

I love a fake away-I’m sure yours won’t put you off track @NoNameNellie

We had our last accidental hello fresh meal. It was a veggie moussaka which was really nice. This morning was hiit and I’ve just done half an hour of body balance stretch so I’m feeling super chilled at the moment. I’ve struggled a bit with lack of motivation for that lately so I’m going to try and hold on to how good it feels after a proper stretch.

BlueSkyBlinking · 10/03/2021 23:22

Well @Fembot123, one is 24 so I don’t think he counts. The other is 11. She could be left to her own devices but she wouldn’t dress or do her online schoolwork, and I can’t bear to see her lounging around in a dressing gown all day chatting to friends online.
When she goes back to school I’ll be able to do more I think. I do walk the dogs most days but one of them has arthritis so it’s more of an amble Smile

Sweetener12 · 11/03/2021 08:33

Wish I've seen this thread earlier! I'm in, and I like the goals you've set. I don't follow any particular diet either and I won't as calorie counting works better for me. I've started this Monday since I really feel the need to go back to healthier food choices and also I hope to lose a few inches off my thighs not only via Photoworks but in reality as well. My goal is to hit around 13-14k steps a day with 10k steps as a minimum. Hope that works

That’s brilliant, I often neglect the stretching and it’s so important. Plus that moussaka sounds lush.
