Anyone keen for a 6 week challenge?

I do well with shorter goals and am hoping to focus on shifting some weight and being more active.

Anyone else care to join and see how much weight we can shift (sensibly!) in the next 6 weeks?

People are welcome to join anytime, I personally will be counting from Monday 7th until March 22nd. I was hit pretty hard by lockdown and am the biggest I’ve ever been... I’ve already managed to shift a little bit of weight, now looking to tackle my long term eating habits and sedentary lifestyle in the coming period.

I’ll be sticking to the following :

  1. No snacking.
  2. 5 fruit/veg per day, protein source at every meal.
  3. Trying to hit 10,000 steps a day.

Other than that, I’m not following any diet in particular, I’m trying to change my habits for the long haul. And of course, being comfortable in summer will be an added bonus!

In these 6 weeks, I’m hoping to shift 8-9 pounds, as well as losing a couple of inches off my belly and bum.

Any takers?

Bollocks, I think I've caught my first cold of the year... I've got that pre-sore throat feeling!

Sorry to hear about the cold and the tummy, NoName and ChonkyChook, respectively. Hope you are both better soon!

I weigh myself every morning at the moment, although natural fluctuations do mean that it's fairly pointless...

Fembot123 · 06/03/2021 09:59

I was weighing myself once a week but got greedy and started doing it every day just once in the morning.

Fembot123 · 06/03/2021 10:05

I’ve had a happy experience in that I realised my scales weren’t on a level surface and now they are I weigh a bit less, in fact I’m now at the weight I thought I was when I began and was using those lying bastard mechanical scales! I’m down from over 11 stone to 10.7 🥳 still got a way to go but feeling positive. Thanks for this thread @NoNameNellie and I hope you feel better ASAP.

RunnyPaint · 06/03/2021 10:43

Excellent news @Fembot!

I did the trouser (and skirt) test last and am pretty pleased with the results so far. Another good test for me was doing some of the twists in my yoga class; I no longer have my gut getting in the way.

Getting into clothes that didn’t fit, or clothes fitting better is such a nice feeling. Well done everyone!

We’ve got an accidental hello fresh box after I forgot to skip this week. I’m not too sad-the meals look nice and not too diet unfriendly. Tonight is going to be a feta, butternut squash and bulgar wheat winter salad.

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 06/03/2021 22:04

I have half a wardrobe packed in the loft for when I've lost another half a stone or so Blush

I keep thinking about resubscribing to Hello Fresh (or similar) @PurpleDaisies, mainly because I'm vegetarian and DP isn't, and it would save me thinking of meals to suit us all if I could just cook those for him! The meals were tasty (although they did take quite a lot longer to cook than the stated times - might be my cooking 'skills' unfortunately Grin) but it was a bit too expensive for us long term.

Another good week - 2.5lbs off 😊

7th Feb - 13st 12lbs
14th Feb - 13st 10.5lbs
21st Feb - 13st 8.5lbs
28th Feb - 13st 6lbs
7th March - 13st 3.5lbs

Another pretty bad week for me for weight loss but really good for exercise. I’m definitely fitter and more active and I’m now 40lbs off my heaviest so I am doing fine. Just having the most frustrating stall on the scales for the last few weeks.

I’m now running for 25 minutes without stopping though which a year ago I’d have said was impossible so I’m trying to stay positive!

NoNameNellie · 07/03/2021 08:15

@RunnyPaint feeling better thanks! Just a couple
of off days, not a full on cold, happily!

@Fembot123 Nice one! I’m going to weight in tomorrow so we’ll see what the scales say then. It’s so reassuring to see actual concrete proof that clothes are starting to fit better. I can’t believe what a difference 3-4 kg has made. I was straining the seams before, now my work trousers are very comfortable.

Managed to go easy on the weekend booze so far as well, which was probably my downfall before. Just had a small glass of beer and a normal sized glass of wine.

We’re meeting up with friends with afternoon (allowed where I live) and I’m going to limit myself to one glass.

4lbs down since last weigh in. An excellent start to the day!

That’s amazing 🤩
NoNameNellie · 07/03/2021 08:22

@CarlottaValdez running for 25 minutes is amazing! I’m struggling to hit 10 minutes for the moment so you’re doing brilliantly. Don’t worry about the plateau, it’ll start to come off again!

Thanks for the kind words! We’re all doing so well, I swear the biggest battle is the mental one.

I really appreciate this thread, I like reading about others’ successes - it’s good motivation! 💪🏻

LivingMyBestLife2020 · 07/03/2021 10:15

Morning all. My weigh day is tomorrow but I doubt it’s more than a pound off BUT I’ve taken my measurements today after 4 weeks...

3inches off my waist
1.5 off my hips
1 off my bust :(
1.5 off my thighs!

Whoop!

Fembot123 · 07/03/2021 14:52

Does anyone else ever get impatient and just want to be thin right NOW 😛😂 I’ve just been for a little run with my DS enjoying the sunshine

ChonkyChook · 07/03/2021 16:21

Well done on all the losses and achievements.

Mental battle is absolutely huge for me at the moment @carlottaValdez, I'm losing weight, I can see it. And like @Fembot123 I just want it done.

I'm also aware once you've been fat it's so much easier to regain and just pile it back on.

I've been exercising every day, sticking to the plan. Hopefully tomorrow's weigh in will spur me on.

NoNameNellie · 07/03/2021 18:00

@Fembot123 ahaha yes! I eat a salad in the evening and then I'm glaring at the scales Hmm 12 hours later, wondering whether the fucking scales are fucking broken cos surely I should be skinny by now??!

Exactly! 😄😄 It’s not FAIR how easy it goes on and how hard it is to get it off

ElvenDreamer · 07/03/2021 19:06

Hi all, so I think I may have lost another pound or so, difficult to tell with my scales but I can feel it in my clothes. Sadly, it seems to have come off my boobs (and frankly I can't afford to lose ANY there!) and bum (ok maybe that's not a disaster.) What I NEED to lose is tummy inches though. Not sure how to target this. I'm doing a lot of targeted exercise and I can feel the muscle now, but I'm not actually losing girth 🤔

takingmytimeonmyride · 07/03/2021 21:31

I lost 0.1kg😂

A tiny amount but I had my vaccination on Tuesday and spent Wednesday to Friday feeling rough so didn't get my steps in.

Back to the school run tomorrow so will definitely get some exercise this week!

buckeejit · 07/03/2021 21:50

Massive well done a to everyone, going great!

Also would like it 'done' but know I'll never be done, continuously working on this!

I made a hotch potch tea tonight & it was delicious - roast chicken with Persian rice, garlic veg & roasted cauliflower with a lemony sumac yogurt. Will probably have it again tomorrow.

ChonkyChook · 08/03/2021 04:44

Monday Morning Weigh In

Last week 73.9kg
This week 72.9kg

Could have done without the 4am start but I'm pleased with that.
