Anyone keen for a 6 week challenge?

I do well with shorter goals and am hoping to focus on shifting some weight and being more active.

Anyone else care to join and see how much weight we can shift (sensibly!) in the next 6 weeks?

People are welcome to join anytime, I personally will be counting from Monday 7th until March 22nd. I was hit pretty hard by lockdown and am the biggest I’ve ever been... I’ve already managed to shift a little bit of weight, now looking to tackle my long term eating habits and sedentary lifestyle in the coming period.

I’ll be sticking to the following :

  1. No snacking.
  2. 5 fruit/veg per day, protein source at every meal.
  3. Trying to hit 10,000 steps a day.

Other than that, I’m not following any diet in particular, I’m trying to change my habits for the long haul. And of course, being comfortable in summer will be an added bonus!

In these 6 weeks, I’m hoping to shift 8-9 pounds, as well as losing a couple of inches off my belly and bum.

Any takers?

Ooh I missed the sly comment!

Jus as well, it's been a bit of a shitter, I've got some sort of conjunctivitis... it feels like there is something constantly stuck in my eye and it is DRIVING. ME. INSANE.

Good day on the eating and moving front though! I forced myself out the door for a run when I got home in the evening - it's more of a walk/pony trot at this level of fitness, but hey, you gotta start somewhere!

B : 2 slices of multigrain toast with butter and jam, cup of juice
L : Grilled chicken breast with carrot and mint salad, greek yogurt
D : Vegetarian tarte, 2 kiwi fruit !

Anyone else wondering what the deleted comment was...?

My day:
Breakfast - Strawberry Meal Replacement Shake (really bored of Strawberry now, but my delivery with other flavours is help up with Hermes somewhere)
Mid Morning - Apple
Lunch - Ham and mushroom omelette, yoghurt, blueberries
Mid Afternoon - Alpen Light Bar, Salt and Vinegar Snack a Jacks (it was a bad afternoon for snacking)
Dinner - Chicken and vegetable stir fry with noodles

Did no exercise today as I had a seminar at lunchtime and ended up working late on something (hence the snacking).

*Held not help, obviously

It was just spam advertising some stupid diet plan

Morning all, checking in. Sounds like a lot of you are doing so amazingly. I am in awe of those doing great long bike rides etc! I am managing my 10k steps most days now which is good, running 5k once a week and doing an hours zoom exercise class once a week. Short toning app on days in between. Weight loss is still firmly plateauing after initial quite quick half a stone loss. I'm am eating really well to my plan at meals but I can't keep myself out of the fridge, I sort of float past it and eat cheese on the way without even realising I'm doing it half the time! I'm definitely not hungry, some of it's boredom/emotional eating, I don't even know why the rest of the time, all I know is I need to get a grip fast if I want to turn this around. 😫

I’d be starving too 😄 Welcome.

One pound off after period has buggered off 😄

CarlottaValdez · 24/02/2021 09:50

Finally a bit more weight off here. I’ve shifted 1.2 lbs. I’m now only half a stone above my target (which was to be “only” overweight). I’m feeling optimistic that I can do it. Progress is ridiculously slow (about 2lbs a month!) but it feels sustainable.

Fembot123 · 24/02/2021 19:22

I did a bizarre Chinese Zumba workout on YouTube today, so funny

buckeejit · 24/02/2021 19:28

@CarlottaValdez I'm also aiming to get to 'just' overweight!

After Monday's weigh in, I went a bit rogue. It was all because dh waltzed in that evening with a tin of Diet Coke. On a Monday? What extravagance! So then I wanted one & had to put a fire on to make more of the celebrations. One thing led to another & in the end I ate a whole big bag of sensations oriental spare rib crackers 😬. The next morning I had 2.5lb on -wtf?!

For my penance I still went walking in the pouring rain yesterday morning & have clocked up 16k steps today.

Hoping I can pull it back to get 2lb off next week which would take me down into the next stone bracket so in my head I can round my weight way down! 😂

Definitely in need of some cooking inspiration. Will check out the LM sausages

Sounds like it was worth it 😀👌

I find I weigh more in the morning if I’ve had a lot of salt the night before so you may find some of that goes again 🤞🏼

NoNameNellie · 24/02/2021 20:13

I second what @CarlottaValdez says about the salt! It can really play havoc with my weight.

An ok day for me today, my undoing was a new Italian shop that specialises in arancini (I mean... seriously universe?????).

B - 2 slices of marmite toast with butter
L - 2 slices of veggie tarte and two small truffle and mozzarella arancini
D - potato and leek soup, multigrain baguette with truffle goat cheese, pear and a small cannelloni

Got my steps in though, which is great!

For me, HIIT this morning (awful), a shortish walk and not a bad day for eating. Pasta with those LM chorizo sausages and loads of roast veg. Thanks for the recommendation. I think I’ve actually hit my five a day!

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 24/02/2021 22:23

I'm with @CarlottaValdez and @buckeejit about trying to be 'just' overweight, but I have a stone to go Sad 16K steps is impressive!!

My trousers are feeling a bit looser though which is good. If I lose a bit more I might be able to fit into some of the tops I have in my wardrobe and not wear the same few on rotation

I did PE with Joe this morning @PurpleDaisies. There was a lot of huffing and puffing, and not from Joe Confused

RunnyPaint · 24/02/2021 22:55

Thank you for the comments about the salt @CarlottaValdez - that makes perfect sense with the additional water retention! Not sure if that is why I was 1 lb up this morning.

I've tried to be good today - as my increasing girth has mainly been due to booze and pringles, cutting those out (and not replacing crisps with other unhealthy snacks) is my basic strategy. My only snack today has been an apple, but DH did cook quite a large stir-fry this evening...

DD is now on week 2 of Couch25k, so I went out with her this afternoon. We had an extra few minutes of walking on the way home, but still only managed to clock up 8k steps. I'll go for a 5 km run in the morning, and DD has an eye-test tomorrow (so exciting) so we'll have an excuse for a few more steps then.

Fembot123 · 25/02/2021 13:12

Down .6 of a pound 😅

PurpleDaisies · 25/02/2021 13:20

That’s a pack of butter fembot. Well done!

I’ve been cooking this morning and made a lovely miso corn and red cabbage salad. I’ve got spiced baked chickpeas as a snack. It’s leftover butternut squash and kale curry for tea. Five a day challenge is going to be a win today!
