Anyone keen for a 6 week challenge?

I do well with shorter goals and am hoping to focus on shifting some weight and being more active.

Anyone else care to join and see how much weight we can shift (sensibly!) in the next 6 weeks?

People are welcome to join anytime, I personally will be counting from Monday 7th until March 22nd. I was hit pretty hard by lockdown and am the biggest I’ve ever been... I’ve already managed to shift a little bit of weight, now looking to tackle my long term eating habits and sedentary lifestyle in the coming period.

I’ll be sticking to the following :

  1. No snacking.
  2. 5 fruit/veg per day, protein source at every meal.
  3. Trying to hit 10,000 steps a day.

Other than that, I’m not following any diet in particular, I’m trying to change my habits for the long haul. And of course, being comfortable in summer will be an added bonus!

In these 6 weeks, I’m hoping to shift 8-9 pounds, as well as losing a couple of inches off my belly and bum.

Any takers?

Checking in, have lost around half a stone in the last 4 weeks, it seems to have plateaued now so need to ramp things up a bit . Did an hour Hit class/clubbercise session last night and then wrecked it by having a massive plate of cheese 🤣 note to self, shower and go straight to bed immediately after said class next week! Other than that I've been eating pretty well, even made fluffy no sugar, wholemeal flour, ricotta pancakes with berries from a Louise Parker recipe for pancake day. Exercise app every day, running on a Sunday morning and now adding in the Tuesday exercise class. Walking most days. Main struggle is the evening self sabotage though, I definitely need a plan for the evenings to keep me out of the fridge! 😭

Fembot123 · 17/02/2021 09:23

I had 2 pancakes but I had them for dinner so they fitted in with my allowances. I’m now 10:11.4 😁

MotherofPiggies · 17/02/2021 10:20

Can I join please😀?

I have 14lbs to lose to get to my comfortable weight. It’s been slowly creeping up over the years...

I’m giving up anything sugary for lent, follow 16:8 and will track my food intake in mfp. I tend to walk 10,000 steps a day and run twice a week anyway but will aim to add a strength or dance workout too.

Hoping to have changed some food habits for the better by Easter.

Lostsoul231 · 17/02/2021 11:58

So I did really well last week and lost 4lbs. Seem to have lost motivation the last couple of days and been tempted with croissants and pancakes.
So, I am back on the healthy wagon today. Water intake up, lots of healthy veg and no naughty snacking. Also, fit a walk in after work as the evenings are getting lighter so no excuse not to go out Grin

I had two cups of apple juice so far. I'm allowed up to 5 cups per day. A lot of water and herbal tea. Headache is not as bad now, maybe apple sugar kicked in? I feel cold and sleepy. How great I'm on holiday now.

That’s not all you’re planning on eating?

Is it a fasting diet you are doing?
Turefu · 17/02/2021 12:52

Yes, is fasting. I’m telling myself is Ash Wednesday , so fasting is appropriate .

PurpleDaisies · 17/02/2021 12:56

How long until you eat actual food again?

That sounds really unhealthy to me.

Fembot123 · 17/02/2021 13:06

Well that is traditional 😁 I do 16/8 or you doing a 5/2?
ChonkyChook · 17/02/2021 13:08

Fasting has many benefits.
I'm doing 18/6 this week.

PurpleDaisies · 17/02/2021 13:39

I think I misunderstood-I thought this was a multiple day fast rather than as part of 16:8 etc

ChonkyChook · 17/02/2021 14:04

There's lots of different types of fasts.

ElvenDreamer · 17/02/2021 17:20

Alrighty then, so having seen various people talking up the merits of dry body brushing, I bought one. It was delivered today....now what do I do with it?! Sorry to sound stupid but should you brush a particular direction? Daily? Just before a shower? Particular time of day? I'm clueless!

Fembot123 · 17/02/2021 17:23

Isn’t it in circles upwards? I haven’t done it in years

ChonkyChook · 17/02/2021 18:49

I do circles upwards, it's what we were told in the 90s and I'm sticking to it. I follow up with Nivea firming cream. I do it twice a day. I love my dry brush.

Turefu · 17/02/2021 18:57

Dry body brushing? What's that?

JemimaMuddledUp · 17/02/2021 18:57

Late to the party, but I'm starting today (losely linked to Lent).

I'm shielding and have got into horrible habits of snacking because I'm bored working from home. 11 months of this is taking its toll now.

I'm going to kick start things using meal replacement shakes for 2 weeks just to get out of the mindset of too many snacks and overly generous portions.

ChonkyChook · 17/02/2021 19:15

I think dry brushing makes my skin nicer and helps with cellulite as it's like a massage. I use a really basic brush, was about £4 in Homebargains.

ElvenDreamer · 17/02/2021 19:49

Thank you for your replies on the body brush everyone 🙂

NoNameNellie · 17/02/2021 20:17

Evening Sixers!

Sorry for the slow reply today, it's been a pretty busy day! I'll be interested to hear how the body brushing goes - how long until you're meant to see results? impatient

It's been an OK day food wise, no snacking which is good!

B : Scrambled eggs
L : Spicy beef ramen and dumplings (a slightly indulgent takeout)
D : 3 herbed sausages, mash and broccoli. 2 kiwi fruit for dessert.

The downfall of today is that I've done absolutely no exercise or steps! The DC went on a long bike ride with DH and I spent all morning yakking to a friend who lives on the other side of the globe and whom I haven't spoken to in ages! Then the afternoon ran away with me and that was that! I'll have to try and make up for it tomorrow!

And a warm welcome to @JemimaMuddledUp and @MotherofPiggies!

Welcome to the Sixers :)

I've never tried dry brushing. I feel like I'm missing out Shock

Tough day here with the DC. Did a reasonable amount of steps (9K) but they're bored with no activities/ friends to see/ new places to visit and I'm fed up of hearing "MUMMEEEEEE" every ten seconds Sad really, really hoping they're back at school soon...

@NoNameNellie your beef ramen made me think of Wagamama and how much I miss it... we don't even live near enough to one to get a meal delivered!

RunnyPaint · 18/02/2021 18:05

I hope everyone has had a good day. I was inspired to get my body brush out after reading about it on here, then promptly forgot all about it. Perhaps I'll remember tomorrow. I have been getting plenty of steps in, plus other exercise, and eating healthy snacks, and sensible portions sizes, but my weight is not budging. It's very frustrating. Oh well, patience never has been my strong point.

Fembot123 · 18/02/2021 18:19

Nice long walk today and I’ve lost another .4 of a pound 😂😂 every little counts
