Hello! Jumped over from the frugal thread.

I am overweight and need to get control of it before it gets worse. I need to lose at least a stone to get back into a healthy BMI and probably more like 2 stone to be in the middle of a healthy BMI.
I tried team RH during lockdown and stuck to it very religiously for about 8 weeks. I didn’t lose a pound but I didn’t gain either. They put me on 1700 cals and I worked out 3 x per week plus 15,000 steps.
So I conclude I need to be on lower cals? I then tried Fast800 and lost about half a stone in two weeks but stopped it over summer as I got married and went on honeymoon.
Not sure if I can face 800 cals a day again but it definitely works. Any advice much appreciated x

Mrsmadevans · 18/12/2020 10:35

Welcome Gen 😁
I do IF a window of 6 hrs to eat in. Lost 2st over lockdown. Cals are approx 1500 l drink milky coffee all day full fat milk so a lot of my cals go on a pint of that 😊
I eat one meal and a snack before bed . Snack is usually fruit of some sort. I find it suits me because I am so busy looking after ppl l don't have time to think about food 😃 so when l do sit down at night l am glad to eat then about 6 ish , snack about 9.30 . I have spinal stenosis in my lower back and cannot really exercise but l don't stop still .
I hope you enjoy it here everyone is lovely ❤️

Not2bObvious · 18/12/2020 10:52

Welcome gen, ex team rh'er here. Also ex fast 800'er and I cannot personally do that again. Great short/sharp/shock if you only do for 6-8 weeks a day you've a lot to lose but outside of that....nah!
Love a good diet chat so if you'd like to share more, height/weight. 1700 is pretty middle of the road, the 15,000 assumes you'll burn 500 on that. How's your tracking?

hi gensola
Not sure how their current system works. I was with them for quite a while, couldn't master the 15k steps everyday and was on 1600 cals, it's still what I aim for but I think I should go lower for weight loss.

Actually debating hypnotism at this stage!

PT sessions have added me on their app now so we'll see what their nutrition advice is.

Scales jumped up a lb this morning a bit but then I visited loo afterwards so I'm going to mark it as a STS. Going for lunch today but going to have soup.

Had some celebrations yesterday but going to keep on track next few days and allow myself 24/25 for enjoying myself

Gensola · 18/12/2020 11:26

@Not2bObvious I’m 5’2 and 65kg, I was 68kg before I did fast800. I do have a high muscle ratio - my Renpho scales say my fat free body weight is 46kg and the muscle measurement is in the athlète zone. However I clearly also have a lot of fat Grin

Not2bObvious · 18/12/2020 11:36

So that's around 143 pound, sorry I'm old school😂
Do you want to lose much? It could just be very slow at that low weight, .25 kg, .5 lb a week - and that'd be over time month on month, not week on week. Tighten the tracking is always a great place to start if you haven't already cause for sure if you're doing 1700 a day and 15,000 - you'll lose even if it's slow

OP posts:
Gensola · 18/12/2020 12:27

@Not2bObvious my happy weight where I look good in clothes is 125-130lbs, but that was before I started weight training so I don’t know if I will get back to that weight now or if I need to, I just know that at the minute my clothes are tight and not looking good.
I think probably 10-14 pounds off would make a great difference. Maybe I should just suck it up and do fast800 for January then go back to 1600 cals and exercise to try and maintain.

Happierwithouthim · 18/12/2020 12:57

gensola Jan is a tough enough month as it is without being under that pressure and if you've having embryos transferred you don't want your system to be under pressure

Not2bObvious · 18/12/2020 16:16

I'm raging, wasted over 220 calories on junk that wasn't worth it. That's like a decent glass of wine & a top up! Priorities...
Saw this earlier and thought it was apt, all comes back to calorie deficit but I guess it depends on the individual on how they do it.
Just over 15,000 - stick a fork in me I am done

not great image.

I need to get back to focusing on water, protein and fibre, that's what works for me.

Happierwithouthim · 18/12/2020 16:46

Junk that's not worth is so unfair.

lifelongfrugaleer · 18/12/2020 18:04

Ex rh here too. I started at 146 and took 18 months off and on to get to 126 lb.
Depending on where my scales are I'm topping 134 again (too much) I was on 1600 which I found impossible as was hungry so went to 1800 when went weight training.
I'm pissing about at the minute. Going to. Break the routine next week and restart pump.

Not2bObvious · 18/12/2020 18:28

Horrible dinner- had to send for food, nothing I fancied in the fridge and it's Friday so ya know. Scales will not be my friend tomorrow, no change there 🤣

OP posts:
ememem84 · 18/12/2020 21:54

Pizza for dinner as is our friday tradition. Usually we home make but today it came from the shop. Also a gin and a wine.

This is my downfall. Alcohol. And the inevitable after wine snacks.

I don’t drink a huge amount (ie quantity) but am starting to drink more often. I think so far this week I’ve had one alcohol free day....

Must do better.

Not2bObvious · 19/12/2020 06:18

My saviour last night was stroppy teen upsetting me, went to bed just after 9 so that reduced my crisp & wine intake. I'd clearly had more than enough by then anyway but I wouldn't have had the sense to see that.
Yeah em, it's my downfall too - I do usually get 4-5 nights alcohol free but this week it's been just 2Xmas Blush As I'm just trying to stay within a weigh range and maintain for Christmas it's ok but January will need to be much drier. Not a drought mind

OP posts:
Mrsmadevans · 19/12/2020 06:43

Morning everyone 😀
Up early couldn't sleep a wink 😴
Have been ok looking forward to going to MumBobs it's his birthday tomorrow and I have made Bobbo a massive hamper if food 😀
If l can't eat it then at least someone can 🤗❤️
Have a great day everyone 😀

Gensola · 19/12/2020 08:41

@Not2bObvious and em alcohol is definitely my downfall too - I don’t get wasted but I do love a glass of wine or a G&T in the evening. When I was on team RH I realised I was drinking so many calories, there was my deficit! I do wonder if dry January might help me lose some weight actually - and wouldn’t be a bad idea with the embryo transfer looming.
I really would like to be nearer my usual weight before transfer if possible as if it works then I’ll have pregnancy weight to deal with too.

Not2bObvious · 19/12/2020 10:09

I'm completely incapable of not overspending my calories on weekends. Despite me thinking I'd probably managed ok with my early bed, eh nope. Anyway it's done (again) Not going to focus on it, I'll try harder today and tomorrow. Still 5 days left to behave well, I would have 2 meals out planned too! I'm going to grab anything social with both hands these days, I won't go too mad on the food.
Absolutely best of luck with your embryo transfer gen, I was around 190 starting both my pregnancies, I was too scared to weigh myself towards the end of the first pregnancy but I left hospital at around 210. I'm 5ft4'ish - it was tough on my joints.

ememem84 · 19/12/2020 10:56

Oh I am absolutely doing dry january. I’m driving on Christmas Day too (will have a glass of bubbly before lunch and that’s it). And probably Boxing Day. My choice. Usually we’d do one day each but I’m happy to take one for the team and do both of dh wants a drink both days.

Not2bObvious · 19/12/2020 14:20

Got 12,000 on the treadmill so that might go a way towards repairing the damage of yesterday

ememem84 · 19/12/2020 15:09

10719 so far. Wahooo

lifelongfrugaleer · 19/12/2020 16:26

Great stepping. No. Idea as Garmin on charge but did walk to the village and back. About 15 minutes each way.

Chocolate has been eaten. I don't drink but might do sugar free jan instead
