Vanity pounds to lose - any takers?

PrincessConsuelaBH · 12/10/2020 21:09

So I have approx. 15lbs to lose to get back to my comfortable weight and for my clothes to fit! Thanks to lockdown and a toddler that still doesn't sleep meaning I rely on sugar to get me through the day...

I'm aiming to break it up into 3 5lb mini goals so I don't feel like it's unmanageable before I ever start Grin

Nothing faddy, just planning to make better choices with my food, plan more, and move more too. I have some short-ish term goals that I'm hoping will be enough motivation for me to shift the weight 👶🏻

Anyone want to join? I'd be happy to keep a list going (if there's not too many of us!) to record our weights and losses if anyone would want that too.

Still waiting on my period ☹️ So still bloated and a bit miserable. Food is a bit hit and miss as I’m trying to avoid crap food but H isn’t well so he’s off his food which makes it a bit challenging. Plus exercise has been crap.

Ah it’ll be fine. It’s a hormonal blip. Hopefully my weight won’t go up too much during it

bellinique · 11/11/2020 17:59

Me too @swampytiggaa I feel bloated and generally feel pretty emotional and miserable and can't wait for PMT to be over.

I feel a bit worse than usual and am wondering if low blood sugar levels may be contributing due to trying to diet. God knows why but I've just eaten a whole bag of baby rice cakes.

BrimfulOfBaba · 11/11/2020 18:42

@RainingBatsAndFrogs

Brimful LOL at whole lemon drizzle loaf!

Lovely that he wants to support you. Hint at some alternative cheer-er-uppers: flowers, an aromatherapy balm to apply to your pulse points, some lovely fruit to pick at, individual bags of popcorn (not the toffee kind), exquisite and wildly expensive jewellery, for example Grin

Hahaha excellent idea!
DownUdderer · 12/11/2020 03:25

I've had a little walk today, very nice. We live up a hill, so it always gets the pulse pumping on my way home. I'm doing ok with food. It's nice to pop on hear and see lots of cheerful messages, it brightens my day. Good work everyone and good luck today with exercise and nice food!!

BrimfulOfBaba · 12/11/2020 09:25

Woo, down a pound this morning despite rediscovering the joy of buttery toast this week!

PurpleDaisies · 12/11/2020 14:29

Well done @BrimfulOfBaba. Every day that’s down is a positive.

I’ve been out for a walk in the sunshine. Avoiding the snacks is hard today. I’m trying to distract myself.

swampytiggaa · 12/11/2020 17:39

5.5 miles run this evening. Definite cramps now so fingers crossed period is on it’s way 🤞 so I can stop the craving for crap food 🙂

Theredjellybean · 12/11/2020 20:00

Swampy.. Motivated by you I have run three times each week. Today did 5 miles.

Oh well done!
BrimfulOfBaba · 12/11/2020 20:15

Glad you've been making most of the sunshine @purpledaisies! Did you manage to avoid snacks?

That's ace @swampytiggaa!

I have had Papa John's and two bourbons for dinner, so I am hereby not allowed to moan if I dont lose weight for Monday's weigh in!

dudsville · 12/11/2020 21:28

It's taking all my energy to maintain this week. I'm having mostly healthy food but I'm eating huge amounts. I've had a headache off and on all week which i know is caused by sitting still so much for work.
I'm thinking the about the need to exercise and am considering a dance app. I've never done anything like it before. Have any of you?

PurpleDaisies · 12/11/2020 21:42

I decided rather than try and avoid all snacks I’d plan two which stopped me thinking about them all day! That worked well.

Thursday I like to stay up and watch question time and newscast so snack temptation is going late tonight. I might have an alcohol free beer instead of food.

PurpleDaisies · 12/11/2020 21:43

No, but I’ve done sh’bam on the Les mills on demand site. That’s great fun. I haven’t tried it yet but there’s also a ballet inspired class.

Jemenfouscompletement · 13/11/2020 06:44

dudsville I don't know any dance apps but think that is a brilliant way to exercise.
I don't eat much in the day, no breakfast, homemade soup, a kiwi and a couple of digestive biscuits at lunch, but it's in the evening everything goes to pot! I certainly haven't lost this week. I don't think being iron deficient helps, and the announcement last night by the Prime Minister that we are to stay locked down until at least the Christmas holidays is very depressing (I live in France). We aren't allowed to exercise with other people and I miss my running friends! Thought it would be finished 2nd December Sad

DownUdderer · 13/11/2020 09:34

The lockdowns sound really tough, well done everyone for getting through each day.

I've had a lovely hike today, saw an echidna on the way back!

PurpleDaisies · 13/11/2020 09:48

This is what I saw on my walk yesterday @DownUdderer. Not exactly exotic!

Your lockdown sounds really tough @Jemenfouscompletement. Flowers

Today is takeaway day so dinner will be tofu saag with samosas/bhajis, chapati and rice. Not health food but better than an actual take away. I’ve got a glut of carrots so probably soup for lunch.

DownUdderer · 13/11/2020 09:56

Yesterday a guy on the path in front of me, stopped to get a photo, as I walked past I had a look to see what he was photographing. I thought it was a flower and was smiling to myself, then I noticed a quite big water dragon! I don't think he was snapping a flower after all!

BrimfulOfBaba · 13/11/2020 12:40

@dudsville I haven't used any apps but find youtube really great for dance workouts!

@Jemenfouscompletement, it is so hard for things to be so uncertain :( hope you manage to stay connected with your running friends in other ways, and maybe find an indoor workout alternative you enjoy in the meantime.

Feeling good despite yesterday's (and this morning's) pizza treat. I don't anticipate being hungry until very late afternoon, will have some fruit to tide me over until dinner which will be a halloumi, chickpea and roasted veg salad. Excited for today's workouts: arms, legs and at least 30 mins on the cross trainer, plus a lunchtime walk.

Jemenfouscompletement · 13/11/2020 13:31

@BrimfulOfBaba your dinner sounds delicious!
I can still run with my border collie, thank goodness because inside exercise just doesn't do it for me! I love being outside even if it's raining heavily and blowing a gale. I just miss the social side and the thought it's going on will mean 8 weeks without seeing anyone. I'll have to buy a load more audiobooks to listen too instead, am running out of podcasts!

Theredjellybean · 14/11/2020 07:08

I ate pizza again last night.... But I only ate half the amount I normally would.
Don't think I will get on scales this morning.
Hmm

PurpleDaisies · 14/11/2020 10:00

Eating half is a win @Theredjellybean. I had an incident with a large bag of jelly beans. It was Friday night and that’s my excuse!

Today is brunch day so I made meat free sausage sandwiches. About 400cals but absolutely worth it. There’s going to be a walk, I might do a body combat class and a bit of yoga stretching. Soup for lunch, homemade curry for dinner.

What’s everyone up to? It’s a lazy start with Parks and Recreation here.

PurpleDaisies · 14/11/2020 10:02

Anything you recommend? I am just about to finish Serial which has been really good.

swampytiggaa · 14/11/2020 10:40

I’ve finished work 🙂 changed the shower curtain and put a white wash on. Am in my running kit about to go on the treadmill 🙂 period has finally arrived so hopefully the carb and chocolate cravings will subside now until next time 🤞

Need to vacuum the stairs and living room and clean the bathroom as well. Daughter is making cake 🍰

bellinique · 14/11/2020 12:15

I've just weighed myself and have lost 0.2 of a pound since Monday which I'm quite disappointed about as I've been really strict with food. Period is still due though so hanging onto the hope it'll improve after that.

I don't usually weigh myself apart from our Monday weigh ins but I needed to do it in order to weigh the cat. He has put on exactly the 0.2lb I've lost Grin

I've got a migraine so it's been a quiet and painful start to the weekend. Might watch a film later, recommendations welcome!

PurpleDaisies · 14/11/2020 15:45

Well done on that loss @bellinique. Every little helps. Is your cat supposed to be gaining? I’m very worried about a telling off from the vet this week because one of the guinea pigs is too tubby. Hope your migraine goes. They’re miserable. Flowers

It’s weird saying glad about the period @swampytiggaa but I get the carb cravings too and I totally understand!

My walk was seriously wet. It was only drizzling when I left so went for trainers instead of walking boots and got squrlchy feet when the heavens opened. Halfway along the walk, we discovered a pop up bakery with some amazing brownies and a canopy to stand under! Overall I reckon net even in terms of calories which wasn’t the plan but it was absolutely worth it.
