Slender in September

Hi, here's the new thread. Always love the new start that September brings with back to school and all the jazz. I'm unfortunately starting the month heavier, 9st2.5, bit cross with myself to be honest, know I have been comfort eating, its got to stop. Aim for this month is as ever yawn, 8st13.

Everyone is doing so well! I've paused my active pursuit of weight loss. GP diagnosed me with a chest infection today so I'm going easy on myself still. My jeans are still baggy so I'm not worrying about it, I just miss all the walking I was loving 2 weeks ago.

Heygirlheyboy · 17/09/2020 21:25

You're right if you're unwell Bercows, hope that clears quickly for you now.
Hangoverstruggles thanks for the peanut butter suggestion! I've moved up to 1434 budget now with aim of half pound so that's nice.
B: porrdife, banana and coffee
L: nutty fried rice left over and strawberries and kiwis
D: sweet and sour chicken and brown rice takeaway. Really nice.

Lalanbaba · 17/09/2020 22:18

Take care of yourself @Bercows
Still feeling rough here, not hungry at all but managed to get just a bit 1000cal.
Hope everyone is doing well with their goals

Octopus37 · 18/09/2020 07:16

Bercows and Lalanbaba hope you are both feeling better soon, go easy on yourself. 9st0.5 here this morning, quite pleased with that.

Happy Friday everyone! I've woken up feeling drained of energy, AF is due but no sign yet. Despite this, i'm excited for the weekend. It's supposed to be dry and beautiful.

Lalanbaba · 18/09/2020 08:02

Morning everyone,
Feeling a bit better this morning. No fever, yay! And I can breathe through my nose (sorry TMI)
Obviously plan to visit MIL are a no go coz I don't want to spread this whatever it is (can't get a test nowhere)
I have ordered food shop that will arrive on Monday and will empty the freezer this weekend.
Not worried at all about diet right now, more likely to not eat enough as I am not hungry at all

Octopus37 · 19/09/2020 08:08

That's good Lalabana. Ate loads yesterday, think a pub trip with my Dad and DH, crisps and 2 pints and then some fish and chips afterwards. Still 9st0.5 this morning, but I'm sure it will show up again at some stage. My Dad isn't getting on with my DS's that well, he has never had much of a relationship with them (long story) and last night when I was out of the room, one of them put the TV on and he switched it off and shouted at them that they should have asked him first what to watch as he is a guest. This was DS's version, but he got really upset last night and said he wants his Grandad to go home I explained that the virus numbers are loads higher up North (only 12 in 100,000 where we live and over 100 in 100, 000 where he lives) so he needs to stay. I dont know how long he will need to stay for. One minute I think we're doing ok, this time is precious and unexpected etc, the next minute I am struggling. At the end of the day, I need to do whats best for my Dad, but not let my family down either. Will have to talk to him later I think.

IDontMindMarmite · 19/09/2020 08:24

Hmm, that sounds really difficult Octopus. He's a guest so you might think he'd be gentle with your boys...

Happy Saturday everybody. I'm feeling less wiped out today which is good. Plan to go for a walk and have budgeted almost 1200 feckin calories on Nando's. It's mad and a reason why we've not had Nando's since Lockdown (the other reason being that it was closed most of the time!). We won't be having it often that is for sure but DH is really keen.

DH is 3lbs off his ultimate goal! We compared what percentage of body weight we have lost and even though he's lost 31lbs versus my 27lbs, i've lost 16% and he's lost 15% total body weight. I win Grin.

TheHoneyBadger · 19/09/2020 08:29

Difficult conversation to be had octopus. If it’s more than a brief visit I don’t think you can expect everyone to tiptoe around in their own home.

Scale dodging as when I stepped on them gingerly yesterday they were being arseholes again.

I’m definitely moving more back at work and I’m not eating more but all I seem to be achieving this month is bouncing around a plateau.

Will stick with it.

Heygirlheyboy · 19/09/2020 08:45

Amazing Idontmindmarmite well done to you both!

Octopus that's a pity sounds like you need to chat alright. It's stress you don't need.

I was in a friend's for tea and had 3 slices of pizza which didn't even early full meso ended up getting chips and a burger later. Oh well. I have been having really decent dinners so I should have been ready with a back up. Off for weekly 10k step walk shortly. Friends calling later. My allowance for a half pound loss is just shy of 1500 cals which is a massive difference. We're flying through September now.

Hangoverstruggles · 19/09/2020 10:52

Hi everyone, sore throat and low energy here! Not feeling like exercise at all.

Going for damage limitation as when I feel run down I have a tendency to use biscuits for fuel!

Well done @IDontMindMarmite 27lb is incredible! You've done so well.

TheHoneyBadger · 19/09/2020 15:24

So wiped out. Very tempted to just order takeaway.

Heygirlheyboy · 19/09/2020 21:11

I enjoy plenty of takeaways Honeybadgerso if you did that, hope you enjoyed and weren't too tough on yourself. Feel a bit can't be filled today but I have stuck to my cals and in bed now. Looking forward to my nice berries and Greek yoghurt tomorrow morning. Will fit in some running too.

Heygirlheyboy · 19/09/2020 21:23

By the way I read a bit of a book, tbh it was way to extreme re sugar and flour and measuring everything every day for the rest of your life etc, but it did have some interesting brain info re eating, emotional and junk eating etc. And one snippet was that making decisions is taxing on the brain, even little ones like reading an email and deciding whether to delete or not, all of these daily decisions means as the day goes on it is hard to keep making good decisions and that really ties in with me on the healthy eating front. Choosing a good breakfast is easy but later at night if hungry it's so much easier to say to hell with it and it's not because of willpower but because we're just done with decision making. Helps me anyway to think of that and understand it. It also explained how our natural self limiter/regulator hormone is actually hijacked by insulin surges caused by sugar intake and that explains why we keep needing more and more over time.. But the self regulator will return once we lower the sugar intake. There's a few other useful bits too I will have a think. Night for now!

IDontMindMarmite · 20/09/2020 07:13

That's really interesting @Heygirlheyboy, I wonder if that's why i've found it easier when I weekly meal plan and daily stick all my meals including some snacks into MFP first thing. I also get really exasperated at DH sometimes for farming out really small decisions out to me, like when he has a recipe but he asks me what to do, or whether to freeze this thing or keep it in the fridge or or or....I sometimes explode, "just make your own decision!" I find it very frustrating.

Octopus37 · 20/09/2020 07:17

Heygirl, thats interesting about the decision aspect, I definitely recognise decision fatigue. 9st dead on this morning, tbh think its probably stress, although I have been eating plenty

Heygirlheyboy · 20/09/2020 08:07

That's great octopus!

Exactly Idontmindmarmite that's why the planning so important, nó thinking necessary. Glad you both thought it was helpful too Smile

Heygirlheyboy · 20/09/2020 08:38

8st11. 25 this morning. That's the full stone in 12 weeks. Delighted. Sitting down to a lovely breakfast now.

TheHoneyBadger · 20/09/2020 13:27

I remember reading similar about decision fatigue in a book on will power. After a day teaching and having to make everyone’s decision (miss shall I do this/use this colour pen/go to the toilet etc) I can’t decide anything. I really should meal plan but I’ve never managed to stick to it.

Off for lunch in parents garden, might be the last chance, this afternoon. Tomorrow is fast and swimming day.

TheHoneyBadger · 20/09/2020 13:28

Well done heygirl!

Octopus maybe you will make it to the other side this week? 🤞

Heygirlheyboy · 20/09/2020 15:05

Even if you plan daily Honeybadger I think it helps. So you know before bed or on getting up the bulk of the day. I know from train my friend's Friday that I need to be ready with a handy backup if not full up when out. I have 800 extra cals to go today, don't know what I'll do with them Grin
B: berries and Greek yoghurt and coffee
L: scrambled eggs and braks8, followed by a kiwi and a mandarin (that book recommends 4h between meals to allow digestion so I am having snack after meal)
D: stew with potatoes, still leave me nearly 400 cals over but think I'll leave it once hungry and can gobble them up later in the week.

Lalanbaba · 20/09/2020 16:22

Hello everyone,
Managed to get a test yesterday just waiting for the results to come back.
Meanwhile today got a roast dinner and some wine. Clearly not that sick but still have a persistent cough.
Been a bit over with calories yesterday as made rocky Road with the toddler and obviously I had to try it.
@Heygirlheyboy I get the exhaustion from planning everything. I'm the one organising food in the house usually (partner does main cleaning) but this lock down having to cook twice as normal with everyone in the house was tough.
I resorted to make a mix of meal plan, batch cooking and my partner did have to choose one lunch and one dinner a week. At least that way it was sorted for the week just needed to cook it. Even plan the snacks at some point
Hate when I ask: what do you want for dinner? Anything /whatever answers

TheHoneyBadger · 20/09/2020 21:58

Lots of veg, couple of slices of chicken breast and roast potatoes at my mums. Plus 2 beers and a couple of glasses of wine. Said no to Yorkshire pudding and to dessert as frankly I preferred alcohol calories.

Near 10,000 steps, over all targets but fully prepared for the scales to b dickish!

Just keep swimming

Octopus37 · 21/09/2020 07:32

Alcohol calories are good. 9st this morning, kids going back to school today which is a relief. Totally sick of meal planning, seem to manage for about two days, think I have enough food and have to go shopping again, drives me mad

Hello all

I watched the Lose a Stone in 21 days thing on Channel 4.

I am going to follow an altered version as I am vegetarian and don't eat meat, fish, eggs or much dairy.

I wan't to lose 3 stone. One stone approx every 21 days. By Jan 1st I want to be 3 stone lighter.

According to Mosely that means low cal with almost no carbohydrates at all.

Wondering what I will be eating.
I'm thinking Veg, no.potatoes. Tofu. The odd handful of nuts. Yogurt.

I'm going to go from 11.5 stone to 8.5 stone by Jan 1st.

I used to be 8.5 stone before 3 children.

Any one know how to really fill yourself up without carbs/ meat/fish? Hunger is my problem. And stress eating. Children causing stress.

My feet are struggling under my excess weight. They actually ache. I am 5ft 4 for context. I'm going to stick around here for accountability. Great to meet you all.
Anyone else see the Mosely program? What did you think?
