3 weeks/half a stone

flowerycurtain · 16/08/2020 07:02

Hi.

After lockdown and a mental period at work I've let a good 3/4 of a stone creep on.

I feel fat, clothes are starting to feel tight and I'm 1lb off being in the overweight BMI. Worst of all though I feel so lethargic and tired. Wine and Dominos last night have not helped!

So, the kids go back to school in 3 weeks. My really long hours are over at work and the next 3 weeks should be on a bit more of an even keel. I'm aiming to lose 7lbs to start with. I'll do this my mfp and exercise.

Anyone want to join me?

Today's plan:

5k run
B: All bran, Greek yoghurt and berries
L: Lamb kebabs and roasted veg cous cous
T: salad

Ok, I'm going to join you. Had my 2nd DD 9 weeks ago and I need to lose at least a stone. So 1/2 stone in 3 weeks sounds good for starters. My downfall is biscuits and chocolate, so I'm going to eat healthily and run whenever I get the chance. Starting now!

flowerycurtain · 16/08/2020 08:41

Hi @LoveB congratulations on your new baby! How are you finding it?

Thanks for joining me. We'll feel amazing in 3 weeks!

Can I join? I would like to lose 3 kg in next 3 weeks. Have really let things drift up over lockdown. I was previously doing 5:2 for maintenance which worked really well for me but I have abandoned that for months now. Currently 73.9 kg and feel much better at 70 or below (am 176 cm so quite tall).

Am really going to try and stick to 10000 steps as I think this is good for my head but does nothing for weight loss. Am going to be strict for 3 weeks at about 1000 calories per day to lose the podge then go back to 5:2 when kids are back at school. Big downfall is portion control and sugar so will try and lowish carb and weigh portions.

Today -
lunch ?not sure.
Dinner - tuna steaks, capers and pakchoi/pepper stir fry. Glass of wine or aperol spritz.

Good luck @flowerycurtain and @LoveB (not sure I could manage much at 9 weeks post birth!).

Hi, I’d like to join Smile just posted a thread about my lockdown weight gain - I’ve gone from a healthy weight to firmly in the overweight category. I have about 2 stone to lose, so 7lbs will be a great start. Smile

MegCleary · 16/08/2020 09:51

I’m in, but starting tomorrow Hmm. Off to meet friends for the first time for afternoon tea.
But am 10/6 and 5foot tall so round is a shape Smile
Need to lose to help my b/p, have 6 runs left on to finish couch to 5 k and trying daily yoga.
Just nag me to motivate. Downfall is drink and then snacks when drinking ....

LoveB · 16/08/2020 14:23

Thanks @flowerycurtain! I'm exhausted! But with first DD the weight just dropped off very quickly, this time round I think I've put weight on since I gave birth - I blame lockdown cakes. I'm just going to eat sensibly (not having a biscuit now with my cup of tea, which I normally would!) and will exercise when I get chance. Hopefully breastfeeding will help too.

I'm 5'6" and 11 stone 4. Would like to be 10 stone.

flowerycurtain · 16/08/2020 16:48

Hi @Shecanmoveinanydirection that's quite an aim to only eat 1000 cals a day. I couldn't sustain that! I aim for about 1200 plus my ex cals which usually bring it up to 1600 cals. Your menu sounds delicious!

Hi @Palm50 you'd be 1/4 of a way there with half a stone! Welcome!

Hi @MegCleary how was the afternoon tea? I'm also a snacker when I drink. I may have actually eaten a packet of the baking chocolate last nights post wine/dominos!!

@LoveB you haven't got far to go at all! It's so much harder with no2 as you have no1 to keep you busy as well!

Good day so far - have spent the afternoon doing a lot of food prep. I've got chopped carrot, kale crisps and lots of fruit ready. I've done my run - it was really warm and sticky and now we're having the mother of all thunderstorms

I might join in too please! Have been calorie counting but for whatever reason (perimenopause probably) it’s not working for me so I’m trying low carb. I only have about half a stone to lose and I’m not overweight but overweight for me if that makes sense? My clothes are tight.

Started today - I seem to have eaten a lot compared to a calorie counting day but tracking it with MFP says the calories are still within what I was eating before.

flowerycurtain · 16/08/2020 18:00

Hi @Qwenzo I'm intrigued by low carb. I've started watching the Michael Mosley stone in 21 days. The kids had pizza on Friday and I made the mushroom pizza his wife made in the first episode. It was really nice!

OP posts:
Bobbiepin · 16/08/2020 18:05

@flowerycurtain please don't eat your exercise calories! Chances are, whatever you are tracking them with chances are it is inaccurate. Eating exercise calories is the easiest way to develop unhealthy relationships with food - I need to burn off that biscuit, can't eat until I've burned off so much etc.

flowerycurtain · 16/08/2020 18:31

@Bobbiepin I can't survive on the 1200 a day. I don't eat all my ex cals as that often comes in about 2000 a day. I do over 25k steps daily often and am a farmer so am pretty active!

flowerycurtain · 17/08/2020 06:47

Morning! Dull old day here today. Not normal for August at all. Today's plan

Day 2
B - Avocado on toast
L - cous cous and roasted veg
T - homemade lasagne either with salad or veg depending on how warm it gets.

Weigh in today. 10st 6lbs. I'm looking to get to 10st in the 3 weeks.

Have a good day all.

I lost 7 lbs in 2 weeks once the gyms opened...a combination of sensible eating, no alcohol and lots of exercises.
However I broke my ankle and am going to be immobile for up to 8 weeks. I'm really conscious about food as I really don't want to undo all that hard work. No alcohol and not going to till at least November.

Qwenzo · 17/08/2020 07:54

@flowerycurtain honestly I don’t know too much about LC either. A few years ago I decided to lose pregnancy weight that had been hanging around and ditched all refined carbs like bread/rice/pasta but not veg/fruit. Not following a plan as such. Nothing happened at first but I stuck with it and suddenly the weight shifted. My body shape totally changed.

I’m being a bit more strict this time and not having the carby veg like carrots and little fruit. My only concession is that I have to have my bowl of bran every day otherwise I get terribly constipated!

Galaxxy · 17/08/2020 09:07

Can I join please? 7lbs would be a perfect loss for me! I'm hovering around 8st13 and keep losing a bit then undoing it by falling off the wagon! Need focus!

LoveB · 17/08/2020 09:42

Morning all. I didn't eat anything unhealthy at all yesterday, which is thanks to you lot, so thanks for that motivation! Didn't manage any exercise last night, baby didn't settle til 9pm...

Think I'll be lucky to lose 1/2 stone in 3 weeks but I'm going to eat healthy and see how I go.

Bran flakes and banana
Chicken and avocado sandwich
Homemade chicken and bacon pasta (not that healthy...but doesn't include chocolate so I'll take it!)

If I need a snack I'll have a carrot!

flowerycurtain · 17/08/2020 11:30

@AuntieMarys that's a nightmare breaking your ankle! How did you do it?!

Hi @Galaxxy that's exactly what I do. I'm good for a week and lose the same pound I put on the week before. I'm hoping if I can do 3 weeks I'll nail it!

@LoveB that sounds like a nice menu today.

OP posts:
Galaxxy · 17/08/2020 19:59

flowerycurtain it's really frustrating isn't it?! The self sabotage. Although at least I have dropped below the 9st mark as I hovered around that for months so I am making progress. Food today has been brunch: brie and strawberry jam in wholewheat pitta, x2 weetabix with whole milk. Snack: Small pot of custard. Dinner: carrot and celery sticks, beetroot dip, quarter of avocado and half a beetroot, slice of chia bread with butter and comte cheese, x2 small spinach and recotta samosas. Few squares of dark choc and a cup of tea with teaspoon of honey for pudding. Could do better!

MegCleary · 17/08/2020 21:56

So today, tea and two small slices of warbutons white toast and butter for breakfast. Lunch two homemade scones small ones and butter and dinner chicken balti and whole grain rice small portion. And just now tea and banana bread. Did week8 run 1 c25k 28 min run and 15 mins yoga video! Tomorrow will be good too as at work so no snacking! And bed early as knackered. Rest of week will be bad, daughters birthday cake and out central!

Galaxxy · 18/08/2020 06:50

Morning weigh in at 8st10. Two down from where I thought I started (although didn't weigh, I just assume 8st13 because I've hovered around it for weeks and weeks!), five to go. Although even if I only lose another 2 I'll be happy enough. Going to have a black coffee then hit the yoga mat! How's everyone else feeling?

flowerycurtain · 18/08/2020 06:55

Well done @Galaxxy and @MegCleary

I was tired last night. Didn't have a pig out though so quite chuffed. Went to bed at 8pm though!

Still tired this morning. We haven't had a break from work since feb and it's really showing. This and October are often my low points of the year!

I watched episode 2 of Lose a stone in 21 days last night. It was interesting when he laid out a typical low cal day versus his high protein, green veg plates. I'm going to try and eat more like that but it is hard with a family.

Today's plan:
B - avocado on toast
L - roasted veg cous cous salad
T - lasanage

Yup - exactly the same as yesterday. I'm so bored of making food for the family I often do double and eat the same thing two days in a row!

Have a good day all x

Can I join you? I stopped drinking nearly a year ago and assumed the weight would drop off. It didn't!! I do 5:2 usually and nothing is shifting it!

totallyyesno · 18/08/2020 07:07

Can I join too? I want to lose about 3kg I think but mainly tone up and get into my pre-lockdown trousers! I don't really have much of a plan beyond:

  • avoid pizza especially Domino's (I don't even like Domino's that much but ds really does and then I eat it anyway..)
  • no alcohol
  • smaller portions in general
  • proper breakfast instead of pastries and cappuccinoes (ok, once in a while but have been happening far too frequently!)

I am going to try and do 20 minutes on the exercise bike a day - too hot to exercise outdoors for me.

flowerycurtain · 18/08/2020 08:07

Welcome @elvislives2012. Are you going to go back and try the 5:2 again or a different approach?

Hi @totallyyesno. I'm also not a great lover of Dominos as I feel awful after eating it. Doesn't stop me eating it though! It's the only takeaway around us that delivers so we have it far more than I'd like!

OP posts:
elvislives2012 · 18/08/2020 08:21

@flowerycurtain I'll keep doing the 5:2 I think- I like the way it feels! But think I need to up my game on non fast days 😂😂😂
