Aaaaaah what's happened to Mumsnet! Honestly you look away for one day and its all different!!!!!

susiecutiebananas · 26/10/2007 10:54

morning all

I have put on 2lbs... I dont know how, i've hardly eaten this week I think its because i cannot do any kind of exercise, including walking round the house! lol oh well, good incentive to ket very strict i reckon.

So, my lovely DH is cooking porridge as I type. With mashed banana and dried cranberries.

Not sure about lunch, as he off to the supermarket. Dd and DH are going shopping in town first.. I'm hoping they'll bring me back something lovely.... hmmm, reckon i'll be waiting a while

My lovely friend brought me a gorgeous bunch of flowers yesterday. REALLY made my day. I was on the bed most of the day, and got up to find them all in water. The front room sparkling and clean and tidy.

We even managed 'an early night' TMI??

walks round on air the rest of the day, leaving a trail of rose petals behind

dont worry, i'll probably be on later saying how much he annoys me etc... lol

THINK THIN girls... and always remember:

LITTLE PICKERS WEAR BIG KNICKERS

mylittlefreya · 26/10/2007 12:43

My jeans were falling down as I struggled to carry a sleeping dd, the sling, and a new clothes airer from the bus this morning.

Does that count as progress??? Or just embarrassing

pollywollydooooooooodle · 26/10/2007 12:45

progress....unless there were people you knew on the bus

pollywollydooooooooodle · 26/10/2007 12:45

oh have just seen little freya...what lovely big eyes she has....

mylittlefreya · 26/10/2007 13:57

No-one I knew, thankfully. The size smaller is still too snug though. Maybe these just need a wash!

She has big eyes, and a big graze on her head at the moment from cruising around the hospital waiting room this morning. Do you get to stop feeling guilty about their bumps and bruises?

Small piece of vegetable quiche for lunch. But had latte out earlier this morning. I don't feel small you know, my tummy still looks awful.

Will stop moaning about me now.

Does anyone do exercisey type videos/ DVDs? What sort? Was going to buy one in a charity shop then got too embarrassed.

susiecutie - the amount of pain you are in sounds terrible. It must be so hard. Is it likely to get better? Are you having any treatment?

pollywollydooooooooodle · 26/10/2007 20:40

My little freya ...Ouch for the little darlings bruise ...we had dd's playgrp photo back yesterday and it is gorgeous....apart from the big purple and yellow bruise on her forehead!

Go get yourself an excercise video....it's nothing to be embarrassed about (at least not compared to your trews falling down)....just remember it is a positive thing that you are doing and nothing to be ashamed of.

If you really can't face it I've got some rosemary conley ones which are too hard for me now i'll dig them out and post 1 or 2 to you if you like

right the rest of you, where are you today? stop playing with your new mumsnet layout (or having a real life) and get clicking!

today
brekkie...2 toast and marmite, cappuccino

lunch...2 toast with smoked mackeral pate and pickles.

eve...wedges, oven fish, mushy peas then stewed fruit with a bit of vanilla sugar

later..a cappuccino and some tiny, very salty, pretzels

pollywollydooooooooodle · 26/10/2007 20:49

ps susiec..it made me laugh thinking about the 2 vicars doing your housework...i imagined them leaping around in a roald dahl stylie, robes flying out (please don't disillusion me)

i'm sorry to hear about weight gain....i find it much harder to shift weight now i'm less mobile (and i don't know about you but others kindly insist on doing things for me when they are around which can mean my bum takes on the shape of my seat if i'm not a bit insistent that i can do some things)

i know you reach for the fruit and one thing i remember someone telling me is that "fruit is low cal but if you know you are going to have chocolate anyway afterwards you might as well save the fruit calories and cut to the choc!"

spottyshoes · 26/10/2007 21:35

Ouch what have we been doing to our dc's???!!! Mine cracked himself on the hearth today whilst experimenting with belly shuffling!!

Brekkie: Fruit
Lunch: Mozerella, beef tomato & basil salad with balsamic vinegar, touch of olive oil & blackpepper.
Dinner: Kids size Fish, Chips and Mushy Peas

After craving the F & C for so long we decided to go out to a local eat in place. Soooo disappointed. Ordered the small portion as they are usually still quite big but the fish was as long as my thumb, 6 thin chips - not even proper chippy style - and a tablespoon of peas am still hungry!

Half a pack a hobnobs are winking at me but i'm staring them down - will have some toast and marmite instead

Hope everyone is well. x

pollywollydooooooooodle · 26/10/2007 22:19

oh spottyshoes that f and c thing is just not fair!

decided that i wanted (well who wouldn't ?)the bag of little cadbury's fingers that dd started and didn't finish and then roved back to the pretzels anyway! am now here so that my hands are busy....

pollywollydooooooooodle · 26/10/2007 22:20

ooh and sorry about dc, we had loads of mismatched pillows over our hearth for a good year....

spottyshoes · 26/10/2007 22:45

Am searching for fireguards and stairgates - we need several!!! Just looking round and realising what an un-child-friendly house we have! It's going to be a huge job but one that needs doing quickly now he's on the move.

Mmmmmm Pretzels....Did you ever try the ones in shiny blue bags that were covered in chocolate?! God they were lush - do they still do them??? They always had them at the checkout in Asda so that the called to you whilst queuing - I used to buy about 10 at a time

pollywollydooooooooodle · 26/10/2007 23:10

i loved those! says in a trancelike way i will not look for them.....

pollywollydooooooooodle · 26/10/2007 23:11

ps get your cupboard locks while you are there

susiecutiebananas · 27/10/2007 09:44

HI laydeeeeees

I'm feeling quite down about hte weight gain tbh. I realy cant work out why, I konw i had chinese, and the odd thing here and there.. but not enough to make me put on weight. I;'ve been the sane weight now for months and months, and been eating far worse..

oh well, i wont be giving up thats for sure! I've been having the oddest dreams recently/ really vivid and real. last night was about Mr Cutie being with someone else. it was horrible. I woke up crying and he just cuddled me back to sleep. Feel a bit silly now to have let a dream upset me so much!

We are out for the day today. Over to walthemstow to see my best friend, (also one of Isobels godmothers.)

Polly, the vicars ALWAYS wear their full robes to do my house work... much more entertaining for the baby.. and Grant is at his happiest when he is making Isobel smile!

he gave her a lovely bath while mum did the kitchen. He's done the most enormous pile of ironing. I was SO pleased. just so much for him to do

catch you all later hope to actually be on at the same time for a change! Take care girls

MarkStretch · 27/10/2007 10:00

Hello all.

Well I appear to have a problem.

As soon as I decided I needed to lose weight I seem to have gained a social life..... Friend called Thurs night and asked if me and DD wanted to go for dinner with her and DD (cue chicken burger ), then had Friday off work and invited over to Dad's for coffee and then sisters for lunch (ham rolls and cake ). Then last night had a couple of friends over for dinner and DP made chicken fajitas YUM.

Today we have my cousin, DH and DD coming to stay and we are having a chinese tonight.

Sooooo I have come to the conclusion that ITS NOT MY FAULT I HAVE TO KEEP EATING LOVELY FOOD!!!!

Was thinking last night that when I was regularly going to the gym earlier in the year I weighed 12 stone 9lbs and now I am 11 stone 12lbs so I have lost some during the year, god knows how though?!?!

Back to normal next week with school and work so will be on my bike everyday taking DD to school and seeing clients and getting more exercise.

MarkStretch · 27/10/2007 10:01

Where's katybump gone to?

pollywollydooooooooodle · 27/10/2007 11:29

does katybump really exist or was she a mumsnet device to get a small group of us together???

come back katybump...leave the work on the new house and come and squander a bit of time on here

markstretch...it sounds like excercise is key for you...and i don't know if it helps but i've told myself that this slimming thing is going to be a long haul but a permanent lifestyle change ie i will still eat normal food and socialise (when i get the chance!)

Did anyone see that article in the grauniad a few weeks ago about how portion sizes have grown in the past 10 years....the average coffee shop scone now has 600 cals compared to under 200 before, the average sarnie out is a baguette compared to a roll and they reckon we kid ourselves on that they are the same hence the insidious gain....

anyway it got me to thinking that i when i am out i will ask for smaller portions/share with dd/eat less of my meal when i'm out/at friends and leave it (i can hear my mum's voice in my head saying "what a waste" and "starving children in africa" but it ain't going to feed anybody else..there's only a choice between whether it sits on my belly or not...).best choice for me is to ask in advance or share as i waver too much if it is in front of me

I feel like a caricature of an american when i'm asking for less and want to say "put the salad on the side and hold the dressing" or somesuch

anyway i'm going on....

hang on in there susiec.....your dh doesn't sound like he will leave you because of a bit of extra tum! ....and you may find it's a fluid thing and you lose next week....

pollywollydooooooooodle · 27/10/2007 11:30

ps markstretch isn't muscle heavier than fat?

spottyshoes · 27/10/2007 16:27

Threads stop when they hit 1000 posts dont they? Anyone object if we start a new one and call it something like 'Katybumpers - lose a stone in 6 weeks'?? Keeping the 6 week title would help people who dont come on all the time when searching. I've seen other people put a link to the new thread on the last post of the old one. Does anyone know how to do it?
