So, once again I've started again, drawn lines in the sand, made plans, batched cooked etc (you all know the score!).

I will be slim this year!

Slightly scared of the scales so not willing to weigh until Monday but come and join us to get slender!

All diets and weighing frequencies welcome!

Is there room for another one on the ranty bench? I am so, so sick of myself and my sweet tooth. I start every day well, do ok at lunch time and by evening I’m eating everything in the cupboards and fridge. I didn’t even make it to lunch today so I’ve been worse than ever.

How about we ditch July and all have an amazing August? Very good idea, except that I say that every month and fail ☹️😡

RedLipsAndRosyCheeks · 29/07/2020 21:03

I wobbled yesterday (garlic bread and crisps). Today had been good though.

Tomorrow will be good.

Friday is a write off, American diner with the best ice cream I've ever had (already been looking at the menu!!) for lunch then out at night with a friend for food and lots and lots of wine!

Back on it on Saturday though.

The only thing that works for me re sugar is cold turkey. I have 85% dark chocolate that is nice enough to eat but not nice enough to want too much of! I have to constantly resist the kids sweets though.

I need a stone off by October to be back at the same weight I was in October last year and I want another 7-10lb off after that.

We can do this!!

OP posts:
poorpaws · 29/07/2020 21:29

Red I would like a stone off by October too so perhaps we could have a plan.

I am sick of the yo-yo, fluctuating diet I spend the whole year doing only to find myself two stones overweight after Christmas. Year after year I do this, it’s so tiring. I would like to change it this year but no doubt I will be on here after Christmas saying I am two stones heavier ☹️

Perhaps August will be THE month for all of us!

RedLipsAndRosyCheeks · 29/07/2020 21:47

Let's do it paws!

The stone I need to shift is my Christmas weight (trying to ignore the fact that we are now closer to this Christmas than last!).

Plan wise,
1, I am no longer snacking.
2, I've never been one for breakfast so I just don't eat it. Two meals a day for me.
3, minimal carbs
4, fast day once a week

It's sort of fast800 but more like fast1000/1100. I can gave two decent meals and a pudding for that.

I'm going for 12k steps a day average and three runs a week.

Days off plan kept to a minimum but if I'm off plan then I can have anything I like.

Hello everyone! Gosh, I'm not surprised we have a ranty bench, it's all getting SO boring now, isn't it - I'm glad I'm not alone in feeling the absence of normal life more keenly just now, I think the summer has made it all feel worse.

@Elloello not having a neutral relaxing space in your home is completely unacceptable and everyone should do their own hobbies in their own rooms without a doubt - TVs in rooms may not be ideal, but your current setup is worse. How old are they? I bet they'd love their X Boxes etc. in their room, and the reality is that rules like "no TVs in bedrooms" aren't made for a situation where everyone's in the house all the time, most households are set up for most people to be doing their own thing most of the time, and making changes to the space survive the new use of it is fine.

In fact, if you're worried about them using the TVs all night I'd be so confident that they'd absolutely leap at the idea that I'd sit them down and say you're considering letting them have TVs upstairs, BUT ONLY under certain conditions etc., and make them agree to the rules in advance. I think you'll come out on top for sure.

Red and paws you sound like men with a plen Grin A stone by October should definitely doable, and then you can make another sizeable dent before the December madness starts up.

Anyway, budge up on the ranty bench. I'm in a really pissy mood today. I'm hungry and hot and grouchy, and just want everything to go back to normal. I'm smashing it on the step front and have been almost perfect on the food front, but I'm a rage-eater and I've had a lot of tantrums this week Blush I'm hoping to see some progress on the scales tomorrow, I've been walking my legs off so although it isn't showing, hopefully it's doing some good!

RedLipsAndRosyCheeks · 31/07/2020 07:32

I'd love to join the ranting bench but I'm feeling smug today! 4lb of holiday weight gone so only 2 left to go.

Well done Red you’ve put me to shame, I’ve not stopped eating for days.

So Red and anyone else who is interested, it’s August tomorrow, just 31 days, are we going to really go for it? At the very least half a stone (or more) would be amazing. I need to do something right this year. I’m feeling really low about my lack of weight loss so far, I should be another stone down at least. ☹️🙁

RedLipsAndRosyCheeks · 31/07/2020 18:47

Yes @poorpaws I am in!

I have eaten 4lb worth of food today and about to go out for tea with much wine.

Let's do it!

OP posts:
RedLipsAndRosyCheeks · 31/07/2020 23:00

I will also post everyday. For accountability purposes.

OP posts:
poorpaws · 01/08/2020 08:37

Ok Red I’ll post daily too. Not sure if we are having a shiny new August thread or shall I just carry on here?

Anyway it’s a terrible start, I’m back in the 11s after so long in the 10s (albeit high 10s). I’m 11st 1.1/2 so I want to lose 8.1/2 lbs in August. I’ve got a mighty high hill to climb to do that.

Good luck Red and anyone else (Quim?) joining us.

Two scrambled eggs for breakfast is my first “August slim” meal and then a very long dog walk (usually 2.1/2 hours but will try for 3 hours for more steps).

Feeling positive, hope everyone else is.

AutumnNymph · 01/08/2020 11:07

I will join in the August club as well. I weighed myself today (a bit wobbly) but I seem to have lost a pound which is a miracle considering I have been laid up in bed and eating lots and lots.

I don't have too much left to lose now and just under half a stone would be aspirational so I will give it a go. I shall post every day as well

poorpaws · 01/08/2020 13:13

Yay Autumn glad to have you on board.

So far, so good. Light lunch and plenty of steps 😀

AutumnNymph · 01/08/2020 15:47

I have had all right so far too. Can't walk yet so got a few rounds of upper body weights done. Lunch was healthy and light. Now curled up on the couch binge-watching movies. I don't have any snacks with me and I count that as a win.

RedLipsAndRosyCheeks · 01/08/2020 19:29

On the plus side I've had an hour walk today but I've been quite snacky as I'm hungover. Tomorrow will be on plan.

OP posts:
poorpaws · 01/08/2020 21:38

I am absolutely Shattered. Lots of steps, quite a calorific dinner but still healthy and I’d not used many calories for lunch or breakfast ( not that I’m actually counting calories so why I mention them I have no idea). Not a bad first day all round then, just 30 more to go 🙄

RedLipsAndRosyCheeks · 02/08/2020 11:45

Fast day for me today. Feeling good about being on plan.

OP posts:
poorpaws · 02/08/2020 21:46

Second day done! Had a really bad headache today and felt very sick. I think I’m trying hard and doing too much on too little food. Will probably let up a bit tomorrow.

How did the first day go Red? When are we weighing? Is there a specific weigh day or are we weighing daily?

poorpaws · 02/08/2020 21:47

Fast day not first 🙄

AutumnNymph · 02/08/2020 23:18

Hey all I have had a decent day today food wise, my average weekly weight is just over a pound less than last weeks which I am pleased about. I am now the lightest I have been in over 20 years. I need 5 pounds off more and this is the point I normally falter so here is hoping to kick the final 5 pounds off in August.

RedLipsAndRosyCheeks · 03/08/2020 06:38

That is brilliant @AutumnNymph well done! I bet it feels great.

@poorpaws the fat day was fine, I've done quite a few now. Fast sounds quite overdramatic though I think. I don't eat breakfast anyway so basically I just skip lunch!

I've got a longish walk planned with the DC too and then I think I'll go for a run when DH has finished work.

I weigh everyday but that does mean I see some crazy fluctuations (5lb in a week sometimes!) so I go by a rough average. As long as the trend is downward I'm happy with that.

OP posts:
RedLipsAndRosyCheeks · 03/08/2020 07:41

I lost 4lb last week (or there abouts).

Softpebbles · 03/08/2020 07:47

Morning ladies.

Room for another. Thought I’d jump back on for moral support. Today seems a good day to start. I went back to the gym this morning. Have weighed and am 4lbs up on my best weight. I would like to get that gone and maintain and just be healthy. Too many snacks lately and not enough movement due to an injury and feeling so crap.

Working from home is not easy! 😊

poorpaws · 03/08/2020 08:43

Autumn that’s great. Keep up the very good work this month and I’m sure you’ll kick 5 lbs.

Red I was going to weigh daily but decided on every other day as it fluctuates so as you said. I suppose the main weigh is every week during August to get a true figure.

Softpebbles join us on our “August push*, three of us so far are posting daily and really trying hard for a good loss in August. I find it really helps motivation if I’m posting daily cos I don’t want to drag the others down.

Day 3 just beginning and I’ve got a lot to do. Might have to up the food a little after feeling so sickly yesterday but I’m still on it for an amazing August weight loss.

AutumnNymph · 03/08/2020 09:12

Day 3 has started well. As I do 16:8 and have switched my eating window to align with DH who has also joined me in IF. I don't feel hungry for breakfast today so I guess my body is adjusting to the new schedule.

My role was made redundant last week and I am on garden leave for the next 3 months, I figured I may as well focus on getting healthier and stronger.
