So, once again I've started again, drawn lines in the sand, made plans, batched cooked etc (you all know the score!).

I will be slim this year!

Slightly scared of the scales so not willing to weigh until Monday but come and join us to get slender!

All diets and weighing frequencies welcome!

We can do this!

I'm having a good day today and I've got a delicious tea tonight so I'm looking forward to that.

Start of day four and I’ve got another busy day planned.

Ello pleased you are joining our merry little band.

Red You seem very on it now so good luck for today.

I can’t wait for the end of August to see how well we have all done. I feel very positive for all of us. Keep on August Pushers, We are going to be so proud of ourselves when it’s all done.

Softpebbles · 04/08/2020 10:53

Yesterday went well. Still am a bit snacky but I went to the gym and out on my bike.

Work is slow so I need to try and keep myself busy.

RedLipsAndRosyCheeks · 04/08/2020 16:30

We went for lunch today and had salad-good- cake and ice cream-bad!

No pudding after tea for me though.

Or a run either because I'm shattered but nevermind.

Wow I'm loving the determination here! My August is going to be a 'try to break even' situation - having a very hungry golden week this week hoping to make a dent in my large belly; last week's golden week didn't yield much but I'm hoping my first weigh-in of August will at least put me back on par with my first weigh-in of July. That would be a 200g loss which doesn't feel like it's asking for much, but even tiny 300g losses seem to be quite rare for me at the moment.

paws I'll bet your headache on Sunday was sugar withdrawal, had you been abstaining? It sucks but it tends to pass quite quickly. Sounds like you're smashing the steps, do you still use a FitBit? You should join us on the challenge again if so, I'm sure Lisa will be able to add you Smile

Red WOWZER, 4lbs straight off is an incredible start! Well done! Also the fat day was fine made me laugh - excellently ironic typo Grin

Autumn how's the foot? I'm very impressed with you for switching to upper body weight and keeping focused, especially pushing through to a twenty-year low Shock That's incredible! I expect I'd take a broken foot as carte blanche to sack off the month, bloody well done you for sticking at it.

Ello for goodness sake not the coffee Grin I think sub 1000 sounds very extreme, maybe for the odd day but I'd alternate with higher intake days so you don't burn out. Ditching the carbs is always a good plan though, it makes it so much easier.

Seabass and veg for dinner chez Quim Smile What about everyone else?

Softpebbles · 05/08/2020 14:08

My week is going ok. Food still not 💯 but I am exercising and moving.

This week so far I have done two hit classes, a yoga session and two bike rides, one 15 miles one at 26. I am so hoping for a 1lb loss. 🤞🏻

poorpaws · 05/08/2020 17:46

Oh Quim the headaches are awful, they’ve got worse and I’ve got no energy whatsoever, so yes I guess it’s sugar withdrawal although I’m eating chocolate rice cakes cos they tend to be under 100 cals.

I went to bed at 8 o’clock last night (I know I’m like a 5 year old). I thought I’d read some mumsnet posts but went to sleep immediately.

I absolutely adore to bake but I couldn’t be bothered to make a planned date and walnut cake yesterday or today (it’s so unlike me).

I’ve got to find some energy to keep this up or I’m going to see a big fat fail by the end of August.

RedLipsAndRosyCheeks · 05/08/2020 20:06

You can push though it Paws.

I'm also loving the positivity!

Good day for me today so I've come to bed so it stays that way!

Still 9st 13. Hoping to see 9st 12 this week. Been golden but it’s not shifting

Keep going last and it'll happen.

@Elloello I'm doing a mix of lowing carb (no bread, flour, rice, potatoes etc), no snacks and minimal pudding. Not calorie counting but I'd guess 1000-1200 a day. I do t eat breakfast and I fast forward 24 hours 1 day a week. Trying to keep steps to 15k but not too worried as long as they are over 10k.

Morning all. Just poking my head around the corner to say I'll be back tomorrow once current visitors have gone.

I've had an awful few weeks for over eating to the point that I'm worrying myself. I need to sort it out.

Well done everyone. It sounds like there's some proper motivation around. I'll be back to see if it will rub off on me.

Paws take care and if you're still feeling tired and headachy maybe you should get it checked out Flowers

QuimReaper · 06/08/2020 14:38

Oh gosh paws I know the feeling so well, especially the lack of energy - for me it comes on sometimes with a combination of hot weather, exertion and low calories, and it's almost always on a Monday after an indulgent weekend! Are you feeling any better today after your early night? Are you drinking enough water? I think if you really chug the water it helps, I'm sure it's just an adjustment period.

Also I was also a bit tearful and sometimes I wonder if very low calories can affect you in weird ways - yes @Elloello I find it definitely does! And again, I have had similar when I've had an abrupt adjustment in calories, although in my case that's often psychological as well, i.e. it's usually after Christmas or after a holiday so that doesn't help with the blues. I don't think it's just that though, I think your body just has a bit of a tantrum when you start withholding things it wants, it's the old thing of the survival tactic which kept us going for a few millennia suddenly killing us. If you push through it it tends to calm down quite quickly though, and you do adjust.

In answer to your question Ello, I don't eat carbs Mon-Thurs, and aim for 15-20K steps on those days, but don't do any more formal exercise; I aim for two fast days, and do what I like on weekends. I wouldn't get bogged down in macros until you've got the basics nailed - I always find the more things there are to think about, the more tempting it is to sack it all off.

lasty fingers crossed for a 9.12 for you tomorrow! Drink a ton of water (seems to be my advice of the day), it may bring on a whoosh!

Kick I cannot be restrained when we have visitors. I would just start again once your time's your own again, I'm sure you'll see super-fast results once you put your mind to it.

I've had a really uncomfortable week with my digestion, I think I may be a bit constipated or something. I had a sudden bout of awful heartburn yesterday, I've never really had it before, didn't realise it could be so painful! And my belly was absolutely enormous yesterday, for some reason it's very unhappy with me. I might dig out the old Shitters Tea tonight Grin (Anyone remember that thread?) I must also follow my own advice and chug a load of water, I haven't been nearly good enough on that front.

Softpebbles · 06/08/2020 15:54

I jumped on the scales this morning hoping to see some movement after my exercise.

Zero. Zilch. Nothing. Exactly the same!! 🤦‍♀️

Will try again tomorrow.

QuimReaper · 06/08/2020 17:11

Soft oh I hate it when that happens! I'm girding my loins for a similar disappointment tomorrow, but I'm sure you'll see movement in the morning.

Ok day today food wise. I'm shattered! Picnic out tomorrow so I've got goats cheese frittata and salad. Might treat myself to an ice cream seeing as it's going to be hot hot hot!

Quim I’ve been much better today, more energy and happier (apart from bloody neighbours who I could willingly throttle to death slowly and painfully). Hopefully I’m getting over the sugar addiction if that was the problem.

Ello I don’t really have a plan at all 🤦‍♀️ Just muddle along trying to eat less and step more. I try to eat sensibly and healthily (and more often than not fail) but I do a minimum of 12k steps as I have two active dogs. I’ve also got an old exercise dvd that I try to do a few times a week but again I usually fail at this too. I don’t drink water (Quim is right I should) and I have a bad diet coke addiction. Good grief reading this there’s no wonder I hardly lose weight.

Day out at the moors tomorrow. Plenty of walking planned but a big breakfast at our favourite cafe mid morning also planned. I’ll try and claw back the damage done on the evening.

So we all started this on or around Saturday 1st August when is the first weigh-in or have you all been weighing already?

RedLipsAndRosyCheeks · 07/08/2020 07:31

I weigh pretty much every day but I'm happy with Saturday as official weigh in

poorpaws · 07/08/2020 18:57

Had a lovely day out today, very hot weather.

I usually weigh on a Monday morning but I’m happy to weigh tomorrow morning if that’s our official weigh day.

Red If you weigh daily it’s going to be no surprise tomorrow how well or not you’ve done. I hope it’s a good result for you.

I hope we all have managed a good weight loss the first week 🤞🏻

poorpaws · 08/08/2020 07:46

Up early this morning for my first official weigh-in

Lost 4.1/2 lbs, so absolutely delighted!
I’m back in the “10s”, and now 10st 11lbs).

Thank you all so much for the encouragement, I couldn’t have done it without you all. Plan for next week is to drink more water (well even some water would be good).

I hope everyone else has a good result. I feel like a bar of chocolate to celebrate, I WON’T). 😀

Softpebbles · 08/08/2020 07:51

Ah well done Paws. That is a great result.

I am late posting as we have had 24 hours away. Yesterday I got 9st 6 on the scales so 2lbs off. Haven’t eaten the best on our little break but lots of exercise as we’ve been waking.

Fingers crossed I see the same or less next week. I like to see a change a few times before I believe it as I know that my weight fluctuates often.

Have lovely Saturdays.

poorpaws · 08/08/2020 08:30

Well done on the 2lbs Softpebbles. If you’re 9st 6 that’s a great weight (I’d love to be in the “9s”) so you can’t have far to go surely. I think I read earlier that you only have about 5lbs to lose? It’s so much harder when you aren’t very overweight to lose the last few pounds.

I know exactly what you mean by weight fluctuation my weight is all over the place and I only hope I’m not plus 4lbs next week. At the moment though I’m very happy. Another 4lbs would be good, 11lbs would be brilliant! 😀

Good luck everyone 🤞🏻
