B smoked salmon and eggs (ooooh fancy)
L left over jambalaya and salad
D Cajun beans on toast

That's just shy of 900 so I have 300 for milk in tea, and general nibbling.

MonsteraCheeseplant · 29/06/2020 09:36

That's reassuring thanks both honeys! My mum said that she didn't gain loads of weight either to be fair.

Monstera I didn't put much weight on in pregnancy either. My problems started with the constantly feeling like I deserved a little treat or several afterwards. In fact, I do think that snacking is a real danger zone for me. I've decided that I'm not banning anything, but it has to be as part of a meal. So, 2 meals a day with something sweet as a little pudding if I so want, but absolutely no snacking!

everycowandagain · 29/06/2020 10:03

I am STILL stuck ARGH. I am putting in a lot of effort to go nowhere at the moment. I either need to 1) stick with it and trust the process because I do feel slightly slimmer or 2) trim some extra calories because I am doing fewer steps.

I didn't gain a lot of weight in either pregnancy, i had maybe 5-7 pounds to lose after both. For me the key was keeping my normal eating habits. Oh and an endless battle with pregnancy constipation which meant drinking gallons of water and eating high fibre foods which, to be fair, are helpful for keeping weight down.

MonsteraCheeseplant · 29/06/2020 10:57

Wow that's great news you guys, this has been a massive worry for me. Thank you.

@everycowandagain Sorry to hear you're feeling stuck. What are you doing that doesn't feel like its working?

@TheHoundsofLove I am with you on sweet treats - I know that I can't ban them completely. I just have to manage them in some way!

I am exactly the same hounds of love, I weighed last 5 days pp than I do now Hmm
I see fit it says I burn average of 13k calories a week so I should be able to make a difference with proper effort. Determined this week and aiming for 10k steps daily. Good luck all. On a bittersweet note a clothes order arrived for me and the tops are all too big.

everycowandagain · 29/06/2020 12:10

@monstera good question. I think perhaps i am doing what used to work, but my lower activity levels (without a 4 day a week commute) mean I am not in so much of a deficit.

Also I am finding it easier to be consistent with calories during the day at home vs in the office because i have fewer food choices but I tend to stop counting at dinner time and just ball park it from there so perhaps i need to do a more accurate job of that.

I am usually more relaxed at the weekend which is fine when I am maintaining but probably is contributing to the lack of downward progress, particularly because my weekend starts on Friday and ends on Sunday evening so maybe I need to rein that in or cut lower in the week to offset it.

And alcohol! We probably drink 5 days a week, it's a few g and t's or a glass of wine in the evening when I have given up logging everything, and then we often have a bit of chocolate too. Only a few squares of dark chocolate, but it all adds up.

So yeah, that's probably what's not working Blush I might do a couple of weeks of no booze starting after our wedding anniversary this weekend.

MonsteraCheeseplant · 29/06/2020 12:19

Sounds like it might be this. I don't know if you find this helpful, but I like to log my whole day in advance if I can, or at least know how much I need for the evening stuff because I know i'm going to want it (that's my achilles heel too). Can you log your wine/choccies and plan the rest of your food to accommodate it?

This seems to be a game for organised people!

MonsteraCheeseplant · 29/06/2020 12:21

and are you doing no exercise? If so could you just add in a daily walk to help get your metabolism moving?

OP posts:
everycowandagain · 29/06/2020 12:28

You're right, I need to log it all in advance including the evening so I know what I have left, rather than getting to dinner time feeling like I have done a good job with it and then blow the deficit all on alcohol from there!!

I am doing on average 4 weight training sessions at home plus a PT session so that's going OK although I don't get the same length of cardio warm up at home so I am probably burning off less there too. I need to run a mile warm up I think.

We are generally quite active at the weekend with the kids, we did a 10 mile bike ride yesterday and then I did my weights workout (minus the cardio warm up!!). It's the weekday steps I am missing.

MonsteraCheeseplant · 29/06/2020 12:33

Wow yeah you're super active! Jordan Syatt talks about calorie cycling - have you seen that? It's where you aim for 3500 calorie deficit over the week but work it out so you have more calories on exercise days and fewer on rest days.

OP posts:
MonsteraCheeseplant · 29/06/2020 12:34

Not that you seem to have any rest days Grin

OP posts:
everycowandagain · 29/06/2020 13:15

Ha yeah i don't plan rest days because I get days where I just can't fit anything in so if I aim for exercising most days I generally hit the level of exercise I want. Calorie cycling is a good thought, I wonder what deficit I need if I do 3 days of maintenance and 4 of deficit...

It occurs to me that we meal plan in advance so there is absolutely no reason I can't log my dinner earlier that day or even that week.

@monstera this is so helpful, you're a fab weight loss peer coach!!

MonsteraCheeseplant · 29/06/2020 13:20

Grin Grin Haha I have to say, I like the mechanics of it. If 1+1=2 anyway...We meal plan too and it works out really well because I can plan my inevitable evening higher calorie stuff. Knowing I can look forward to it helps minimise snacking in the day.

Have you worked out your TDEE?

OP posts:
everycowandagain · 29/06/2020 13:44

Funnily enough I was playing around with TDEE calculators yesterday. I think it's about 2,000 based on my activity levels, exercise and body fat.

MonsteraCheeseplant · 29/06/2020 15:10

So, for for a weekly 3500 deficit. You could either aim for 1500 daily.
Or if you ate 2000 for 3 days of the week, you'd need 1125 the remaining 4 days to achieve that deficit.
Or you could eat 1900 for 3 days a week and 1200 for 4 days
or 1800 for 3 days and 1275 for 4 days.
My maths might have failed me somewhere so i'd check it if i were you but worth playing around with in any case.

OP posts:
everycowandagain · 29/06/2020 15:32

I am going to try that and see how it goes, instead of 1500 a day x 7 I will allow myself a more realistic 1800 x 3 at the weekend (so basically eat sensibly but more relaxed as I have been doing) and try to keep under 1300 for 4 days during the week.

I just checked mfp and freaked out at how it was over 1000 calories when I have been really strict today and then remembered I have already logged my dinner!!

Therunecaster · 29/06/2020 15:42

Hi

Can I join please. I started on Cambridge 1.1 on the 1st of June at 18.5. Today I am 16.13 and a half. I want to get to 11 but would be happy at 13.

MonsteraCheeseplant · 29/06/2020 15:43

Good luck!

Welcome and well done!

Does JS allow for calories burned through exercise or is that getting too complicated?! I like his slow and steady way. Just keep trying! That's all I can manage somedays!

everycowandagain · 29/06/2020 17:00

@Heygirlheyboy I don't think Jordan Syatt does adjust for exercise although his 'goal weight in pounds x 12' rule of thumb gets me to about 1550 a day which is very close my TDEE calculation of 1500 a day which does factor in activity levels. I am a big JS fan!!

everycowandagain · 29/06/2020 17:01

Welcome @Therunecaster

Heygirlheyboy · 29/06/2020 17:04

Oh goal weight! Oh gosh better go recalculate!!

Heygirlheyboy · 29/06/2020 17:05

Yes I love him. And even just his short tips are motivating. Heading for another 4 mile walk tonight, sitting down to a nice roast chicken with mountains of veg shortly.
