Sorry you're disappointed @honey. Progress definitely not just gone though. You have made big changes to break habits long term, like with drinking less beer. That's brilliant progress in terms of living healthier and will help your weight loss too. You've also done so well keeping at dieting for so long, it can be a bit of a slog so well done you! Sometimes progress isn't just from the numbers on the scales, as I'm sure you've told others of us here when we've had a setback too :) you'll get your oomph back, try to listen to your body and you'll know when it's time to get back on it, I'm a big believer in having a break now and again, I've had about 4-5 days off and have come back much more motivated this morning. And we're always here to listen too :)

TheHoneyBadger · 15/06/2020 12:42

Thank you. It’s just gutting that weight that takes ages to lose can just jump back on again. I’m ok. Just a bit grr at my body that I used to know but over the last year ish has mystified me

HoneysuckIejasmine · 15/06/2020 14:19

I used to gain like crazy after a run too. Switched my weighing day from Sunday to Saturday when I was doing parkrun cause otherwise I would have "gained" back what I had lost that week. Weighing before the run was better but I did feel like I was getting nowhere for a while.

It is so frustrating that you try really hard, see the pounds crawl off over the course of a month, then one dinner out and you're back where you started. But you are creating new habits and that'll have a long term impact.

Today:
B mushroom omelette
L mulligatawny soup and salad
D butter chicken with loads of veg (no rice no naan)

MonsteraCheeseplant · 15/06/2020 15:34

It takes 3500 calories to gain 1 lb of fat. Do you think you ate 14,000 more than you expended? If not maybe there are other explanations? Like water still? I dunno.

That’s definitely the theory but it doesn’t seem to be the case in my reality.

Sad so confusing for you

Welcome @AndTheyLivedHappilyEverAfter
@Hangoverstruggles those little impromptu things are worth it I think if you get back on it the next day.
Today's food for me:
B. Granola bar, coffee
L. Chicken broccoli pesto pasta
D. Veggie moussaka left over chips from the kids tea.
S. Orange, 3 cherry liquors.
Gonna stop eating now. Shouldn't have had the chips!

Igglepigglesgrubbyblanket · 15/06/2020 19:17

Just caught up with the thread. So frustrating @TheHoneyBadger! Hope it disappears as magically as it came on

HoneysuckIejasmine · 15/06/2020 20:34

My basal metabolic rate is 1610. My tdee for "sedentary" i.e. no exercise is 1932. For "light exercise (1-2 a week)" is 2214.i actually run or walk at least 5km every single day. If I eat more than about 1400, I gain weight.

I have hypothyroidism, endometriosis, (probably adenomyosis too), and an autoimmune disease. I take TDEE with a massive pinch of salt.

Twixes · 15/06/2020 21:40

Hai! Waves at familiar faces. I fell off the wagon hard over lockdown. I'm up 8lbsBlush

Did an outdoor gym class today and I'm now back in the zone...if you'll have me back!

MonsteraCheeseplant · 15/06/2020 21:43

Haha! I really should change my name :) I think I've been off this thread since Feb/March. So happy it's still going!

MonsteraCheeseplant · 16/06/2020 08:13

I lost that rebound lb by this morning. AF unexpectedly arrived yesterday so maybe that had something to do with it as well.
Meals today and yesterday:
B: Yoghurt
L: Lamb and Barley soup
D: Jambalaya
S: a lot if i'm honest but all in all still under 1200 cals so meh.

Welcome back Twixes !
Well, I managed my fast day yesterday - it felt relatively easy so I hope I’m back in the swing of things again! I don’t feel particularly hungry this morning, so will keep to 16:8 today and hold off until lunchtime.
Have a good day everyone! 🙂

EndlessUserName · 16/06/2020 08:36

Welcome back! @twixes I've had many many breaks too, you can do it!

That's a nice menu @monstera

Today's menu
B - banana smoothie
L - sweet potato fries, roasted leeks, green beans
D - Mediterranean cod, naice flatbread

HoneysuckIejasmine · 16/06/2020 08:36

Im down 2lbs this week. A bit disappointed because a sneaky mid week weigh showed a 3lb loss, but that's daily variation I guess. Probably the curry we had for dinner yesterday. Was within my goal but salty of course 🤷 So I'm now 1,12 over my low weight and 3 stone over my BMI = 25.

It frustrates me beyond belief that I got within a stone of my goal and then let it slip. FFS.

B a pain au raisin I didn't even want anymore but one of those "defrost and prove overnight" ones so bit late. Buyer's remorse for sure. Bet I'll be starving by mid morning
L lamb hotpot soup, salad
D sausage pasta bake and veg.

EndlessUserName · 16/06/2020 08:36

Well done! @TheHoundsofLove

EndlessUserName · 16/06/2020 08:37

Well done @HoneysuckIejasmine that's brilliant progress! Don't worry about letting goals slip, that's life, the important thing is that you're back at it now :)

TheHoneyBadger · 16/06/2020 08:46

@Igglepigglesgrubbyblanket

Just caught up with the thread. So frustrating *@TheHoneyBadger*! Hope it disappears as magically as it came on
Another couple of pounds of it is gone today Confused

Going to try to fast and keep active today.

Hi twixes. Hounds yay for being back in the swing of things. That’s where I need to get. Need to find a way to not get this thrown by my cycle each month.

EndlessUserName · 16/06/2020 09:47

@honey I was thinking exactly the same thing about my AF each month. I planned it all out a few days ago. I think I will take the week before AF 'off', as I find my cravings just overwhelming, so would rather allow for some giving into cravings, which is totally normal behaviour, rather than beating myself up for eating things I "shouldn't". I also mark when AF is due on the calendar so that in the week before I'm aware of why I'll be feeling different. I'm also going to try not to have many trigger foods around - foods that I would just eat and eat and eat, but will instead plan some healthier alternatives (which would usually be too high calorie for my diet so will feel like a treat) to buy the week before AF - packs of portioned nuts, nice yogurts. I'll also make sure to eat a filling B,L and D so that I'm not feeling hungry, which I can usually deal with but before AF this would lead to me seeking out really bad foods. Anyway that's my plan, thought I'd share it. I find week before AF very difficult (especially emotionally) and was actually receiving treatment for this before lockdown, so now that has had to stop so I'm trying things to see if I can work around AF a bit better by myself.

TheHoundsofLove · 16/06/2020 10:25

stop I listened to a podcast a while ago (might have been James Smith) where he said he often advises his female clients to only diet for 2 weeks of every month - the week of AF and the week after, with the 2 weeks leading up to AF taken ‘off’. He said it worked really well as is slower but fits with the female hormone cycle.

Twixes · 16/06/2020 10:26

@stopfundinghate sounds like you've a terrible time with AF :( but those strategies sound v good. And even if you do slip up for a couple of days, it's only a couple of days and you'll be back on it after I'm sure.

I'm thinking of trying 16:8 this time around. Wine only on weekends (my big big weakness). Even my comfy jeans are too tight. I'm so annoyed with myself because I'd made great progress in Jan and Feb!

TheHoundsofLove · 16/06/2020 10:37

Give 16:8 a try Twixes and see how you get on. I find it brilliant for maintenance but not enough for weight loss now that I’m so close to my target.

EndlessUserName · 16/06/2020 10:53

@hounds ooh interesting thanks and @twixes I am definitely coming to the conclusion that some maintenance weeks are just part of everyday reality, my AF will always cause issues probably so it's time I try to work with my body rather than trying to fight it and ending up frustrated when I lose! AF awful for me, every month I end up feeling very depressed, and then I remember why! Realising why I feel like that has helped a lot

I definitely think weekend treats are a must. That's another thing I've learnt that I just can't stop enjoying myself at weekends so better to plan for some nice things ahead of time with a stricter week, then I can enjoy the weekends guilt free :)

Octopus37 · 16/06/2020 12:13

Welcome back Twixes (thinks about chocolate after eating 2 penguins and 3 hotel chocolate chocolates), good to see you back. Stopfundinghate, agree about maintenance weeks, although in my case it seems to be maintenance months. Agree that AF can be so difficult, the impact on mood is one of the hardest thins. 9st2.5 this morning, can only keep the scales in the kitchen as everywhere else is carpeted and was getting very weird readings, even if they were saying whimsical things like 8st3., o well.
