6 stone + to lose ... Whos in?

I'm at my heaviest EVER! I've been battling my weight for 12 years and quite frankly I'm done with it now.

Poor DH is probably sick of the cycle of 'I'm fat , I hate myself, diet for 1 month, quit, repeat' . He confided that he was worried about me the other day health wise and just wants me to be happy and then my DD who's 6 made a couple of comments about my big belly (not being mean...just being a 6 year old). So this is has given me a big kick up the bum. My wedding and engagement rings also don't fit anymore Blush.

I'm an incredible emotional eater and suffer from anxiety and awful self esteem issues. It's a psychological battle each time I decide to 'diet'. I'm constantly trying to sabotage myself.

So...I've been calorie counting for the past week, doing one YouTube workout and going for an hour walk everyday (my distress also) , making sure I'm hitting at least 10000 steps. So far I'm feeling good.
I don't agree with super low calories but I've been aiming for and sticking to between 1500 - 1700 calories. My diet has been healthy and clean.

Anybody else up for using this thread as a support / check in / pick me up?

I've made the decision not to tell any friends and family about my journey this time because as soon as I do people start jumping on my bandwagon and start relying on me and whinging to me and it's something I know I can't deal with this time. This is why a thread like this would be perfect as we are complete strangers in the same boat.

My family have been serial dieters for 30 years Blush As soon as any of them catch wind I'm doing any kind of weight loss they want in too and Facebook chats get set up and I suddenly feel on display and pressured and when it goes wrong I get incredibly embarrassed and ashamed and the cycle begins again. Also, as I've been battling this for years I'm quite knowledgeable about stuff and I get asked questions and advice all day everyday and I end up getting overwhelmed.

So ...

Start weight : 14 stone 12.5
First Goal : 12 stone
Ultimate goal : 9 stone , maybe a bit under.
Height : 5ft 3.

It sounds like you’ve done really well @ExplodingCarrots. Hormones? I always lose differently depending on my cycle.

I’ve tried to stick to 1,600 cal or under this week and lost 3ib. Need to start exercising really - have been far too indoorsy this week.

I've had a hard few days, feeling better and more in control
Had a really killer workout that burned 800 cals today so I am having a yorkie Grin

Evening. @ExplodingCarrots to keep at it in itself is amazing, well done! @Whymustyoubringinthebirds I want a Yorkie now, but I haven't burned 800 calories...
My victory today was bringing a salad to the seaside while the rest of the family had fish and chips, then resisting ice cream. This is so unlike me.
The baby is not sleeping all that much and the sleep deprivation just makes me crave sugar and carbs. I need all the little victories I can muster right now...

@Speminalium well done!! Definitely a victory!

I am going to go a walk this morning and then chill and the garden today, beef curry for dinner but I've got some cauliflower rice I can sub in for standard rice as DH wants the curry I had planned something else but with the cali rice should be fine calorie wise

Feeling determined for a loss this week, scales are sitting at 1.5lbs at the moment so I've got until Tuesday morning to get that other 0.5lb
I had a goal of hitting 20-24lbs in 12 weeks but think 2 maintains have quashed that

@ExplodingCarrots when 1st start exercising after not for a while my scales never budge, particularly if I've done any strength training even if it's just body weight, if you have worked the muscles they can retain water to help recover, I would also recommend lot and lots of water on exercise days

Thanks guys!

It could be hormonal , I've started to feel more tired so the curse may be imminent.

I've been doing a mix of cardio, kettlebells and dumbbell workouts so yes you may be right, it may take a while to show. DH said this morning 'I know you're not going to believe me when I say this but I can see you're changing' Grin

Ooh @ExplodingCarrots visible change! Go you! Are you doing the workouts from memory or are you following videos/guides? We are very blessed to have a pool (albeit a crumbling wreck that needs replacing in a decrepit pool house that is falling down - problem is the house needs so much work that it'll be decades til we can afford to fix it up) that I can use every day but with four kids including a baby I dont get to go in on my own so mostly stop them downing each other or themselves. Has to count for something though!

@Speminalium I follow videos by BodyFit by Amy on YouTube. She's easy to follow and got so many different types of workouts so you don't get bored and do what you want.

Wow ! That sounds awesome having a pool! I'm sure swimming with the kids is burning plenty of calories so don't worry Grin.

Are you all having a weekly weigh in and if you are, what day are you doing it?

Hi I'm late to the party, but would like to join in too.

I put on weight in pregnancy and just haven't lost it. - it's been steadily creeping up over the last year too. My youngest is 7!!! I'm an emotional / boredom eater and have just had enough of being fat. Fed up of having to go up dress sizes!

Weight: 15 stone 11lbs
Short term goal - under 15 stone
Long term goal: 11stone ish

Missingmum that must be really hard. Thanks to you. Well done on the weight loss so far. I am also heavier than when I had my dd so that's one goal.

hellotoday I am officially weighing in on Weds as that's when I started but I do weigh myself in between.

After a lovely half term I am working again and feeling pretty hungry and tired today! I am staying focused on my first goal though which is to get my BMI under 40 and get out of that category. Mortifying moment when I had to tell my employer that I was in the vulnerable category pre-lockdown.

Hello 👋
I'm in!
I managed to lose 4 stone (had 2st 12 remaining to go) last year, but during lockdown have eaten my feelings and gained 1st 8lb back. This week has been the first I've tried to get back on it so now have a total of 3 stone 4 to go!
Good luck everyone, we've got this 🥰

MinnieSquidge · 01/06/2020 19:40

Thanks for the encouragement everyone. I've had a really good start today, went into work, took a healthy lunch with me and I've been logging everything. Just been out for an hour's brisk walk. Taking it slowly, and hoping that slow and steady will win the race!

Well done all of you - lots of grit and determination in the posts above. I find reading all your posts helpful.

Back to school - fallen right back into snack mode when I get home Hmm I'll be ready tomorrow and have a yoghurt instead. Mind you, a whiny husband perplexed at why I was cross cereal bowls and lunch plates were all over the shop when I got home helped drive me to the biscuits too!

I can now get into a pair of size 16 running tights I bought at the beginning of lockdown. Quite pleased Smile

It's been warm here too and it makes it so temping to just munch and drink, we've got some strongbow rose in the fridge and it's a brilliant sunny day drink, so hard to avoid

Hi everyone. I'm so glad to see how well everyone's doing - well done!

I had a tough few days but I'm 'back on the wagon' today and I feel a lot better.
I had a few gins on Saturday meaning I was a little "whoozy" which resulted in me getting a takeaway.. then I just caved on Sunday and ate whatever I wanted. I gained 1lbs so it could have been worse. I'm going to take a break from alcohol as I appear to have no inhibitions once I've had a few.

I've had my implant removed last week so I'm hoping my hormones get back to normal to minimise me snacking, which happens all of the time when I'm on.

Does anyone have any 'golden nuggets' of information on trainers? I bought a new pair a few weeks ago and have walked at least 20 miles in them but they absolutely shred my ankles, resulting in massive blisters. They're walking/ running shoes and they're the right size, and ive tied them as tight as possible. I've tried plasters, blister pads and even wrapped my ankles in duct tape.. no luck.
It's really getting me down as I did a 4K walk today (had to walk home in my socks because of the developing blisters) and I know I won't be able to walk with trainers on for at least 3/4 days.

Ouch @YellowPenny!!!

Not fashionable but I bought a pair of Skechers go walk joy and I have walked miles with no issues. Memory foam so like walking on air. Not sure if supportive enough for running but good for a brisk walk.

Time of the month for me so trying to not scoff like it’s going out of fashion - I don’t think it’s working. Will see if a sugar free jelly will prevent me hitting the chocolate ..... fingers crossed!

Hi all be been struggling the last few days and so not posted, but have been reading everyone's updates.

@YellowPenny I second sketchers, think they have trainers too, I love my go walks not very attractive though

@MollyAtTheFolly well done on getting into size 16's!

I'm going to be strict tomorrow and weigh every Monday rather than Wednesday's. Also going to cut back to a strict 1200 a day as I need to get out of the 15's, it's like a stumbling block and it's killing my motivation. Hoping by Monday I'll have said bye to number 15 Smile

Today weighed at 15st 3.8lb so an embarrassing 0.2lb loss but finding the support on here is encouraging me to not give up!

Whymustyoubringinthebirds · 03/06/2020 06:53

@YellowPenny I would suggest some running socks, they are normally anti blister, have compression and allow airflow, really make a difference for me when I am walking long distances

You can do it @missingmum!

@TheStirrer hope you managed to avoid the chocolate
