Anyone need to lose a stone or less and needs motivation?

Flippetydip · 18/05/2020 12:15

Not that I can provide the motivation but hey ho, I thought perhaps if there were more of us it might help!

I'm currently 10 stone 12 and 5 foot 7. My fighting weight is 10 stone and I would like to get back down to this.

Lockdown has seen me put on at least half a stone. A bad back has seen me stop running and lack of school runs means a distinct deduction in time on my feet.

Anyone else in the same boat?

@clevername fingers crossed the pounds will disappear soon!
To avoid overeating after a workout I try to do it first thing in the morning followed by a coffee as it always seems to do a good job of curbing my appetite. Then I will eat an hour or two later if I'm hungry but not so ravenous I empty the contents of the fridge. But to be honest most of the time I'm fine until lunch - also find if I have breakfast first thing I'm starving an hour later so tend to try and avoid it in general and I can't say I miss having it.

I'm 66.9kg which is 1lb more than on Wednesday last week but still down from 67.2kg from last Sunday (not by much but I'm trying my best to stay positive) but TBH not had the best weekend food wise with it being fathers day and family movie night and I'm due on any day now so I'm just crossing my fingers it will disappear once that's over and done with Blush
I'm still aiming for 60-62kg by August so I really need to get on!

I'm going to try a new morning routine and aiming to wake up at 5am so I can get some work done, workout and have a shower before the DCs are up - it feels a bit ambitious but I wonder if I can do it and get into the swing of it as once (fingers crossed) we are back at work and school FT it would probably make a world of difference to my day to day productivity and actually having the time to fit exercise into our quite busy schedules.

I've been an emotional eater today. I've done really well until around 4 and had around 6 biscuits and sweets. My watch is saying I've done 700 calories but I know it doesn't work out like that in terms of calories in and out. Postponing our much needed holiday to next year has made me super miserable and hungry!

BorsetshireBlueBalls · 22/06/2020 18:32

@carrottopper - I read an article about Joe Wickes yesterday in which he said 'don't let a bad eating day turn into a bad week'. You haven't blown it with a few biscuits so don't punish yourself and set yourself up for more emotional eating.

carrottopper · 22/06/2020 18:35

@BorsetshireBlueBalls that's a great quote to share. Thanks. Feeling really low especially after postponing our holiday. We booked last August and have been on a countdown. I'm just thinking- why bother now but going to put on my positive pants tomorrow and start again. Thank you for your reply. X

Plancina · 22/06/2020 19:25

I had a work meeting today which was held in the garden of a colleague and it was his birthday so there was cake. Alas.
AF came in force and I was feeling rubbish for most of yesterday. Lovely Dfiance has made me veggie ratatouille with prawns for dinner and didn’t make rice for himself when I said I wouldn’t have any. True love right there Grin

PowerslidePanda · 22/06/2020 22:16

Thanks @BorsetshireBlueBalls - I need to keep repeating that to myself (3 bad days in a row Sad)

You must be relieved that AF has finally arrived, @Plancina! Hope you're not suffering too much.

clevername · 22/06/2020 22:21

Sorry to hear about your holiday, @carrottopper, that really sucks Sad Flowers

Glad your wait is over, @Plancina!

PeasandCucumbers · 23/06/2020 07:49

Hi all, after a couple of weeks AWOL I am back on the wagon and have just read through the thread from where I left off. I had been really struggling with very slow weight loss but and today exactly 4lbs less than where I was just over a month ago and my motivation is currently really good.
I struggle with exercising at home and can’t wait for the gyms to reopen! I think I am at the point of needing more than just lots of walking to help shift this last 8 - 10lbs!

Am going to check out maintenance calories as suggested up thread and see if my goal weight needs adjusting.

Drybird2020 · 23/06/2020 12:37

Hi everyone. It's interesting to see how many are struggling with a static phase in their weight loss, I am too. Also had a weekend blowout so I'm adjusting after that, today is a fasting day anyway which is easier than other days because the rules are clear with no wriggle room.

I hadn't thought about maintenance calories, so thanks to whoever raised it. I'm going to calculate for my target weight and use that to plan routines for eating within my allowance. I've managed to take up exercise with a structured routine so if I can figure out a similar approach to food, it will help.

Plancina · 23/06/2020 13:06

I did my maintenance cals at target weight and it gave me 1,850 on one calculator and 1,985 on another which gives me hope that I won’t have to starve myself for ever to be 125 pounds! It does perhaps answer the question as to why I’m not losing much now though, as PT has me on 1700 which is totally fine for maintenance but doesn’t seem as though will lead to loss.... hmmm

bez91 · 23/06/2020 13:28

I hadn't thought about maintenance calories either - very good point.

What time of day are people weighing themselves? I was doing every Monday about 5pm but forgot yesterday so did it first thing this morning before breakfast etc and said I've lost 1.5lbs and 0.4% body fat which is a record so far but probably cheating!

Drybird2020 · 23/06/2020 13:44

@bez91 I weigh first thing in the morning after my second fasting day of the week, in theory. In practice I often do it on another morning too.

PowerslidePanda · 23/06/2020 13:54

I weigh myself first thing in the morning. I do it every day, which I know some people don't like, but for me I find that easier to figure out what my "real" weight is, versus fluctuations.

I'm back on track today. I also tried on my size 10 jeans and am delighted they not only fit again, but comfortably! Grin

clevername · 23/06/2020 14:23

@PowerslidePanda - same. I weigh every day because I find it interesting to see the fluctuations (although I suppose it can sometimes be frustrating). Also in the morning - I dread to think what my evening weight would be!! Glad your size 10s are now fitting comfortably - that's always a win!

I'm fasting today for the second day in a row because I've realised I won't get my other day in if I don't (I have wine and chips based plans from tomorrow onwards that would be RUINED if I had to somehow fast. I toyed with the idea of only having one fast day this week but managed to stop myself. Just). I'm mega hungry and also hormonal and periody... think I'll be watching the clock until bedtime.

Hope everyone else is having a good day?

overweightcat · 23/06/2020 16:59

Wine and chips sounds amazing right now @clevername !

I've been up since 5.30 this morning and it feels like it should be the kids bedtime by now but alas another 2 and a bit hours to go. Sticking to my 1200cals is very hard but it's almost dinner time so fingers crossed I'll make it until then without pouncing on the crisps in the cupboard.

carrottopper · 23/06/2020 21:25

Wine and chips sounds amazing!

I've had no biscuits today 😂🙈 but might have had a cornetto and chips for tea. What. Is. Wrong. With. Me?!! Hoping to get back into the 1200 calorie game tomorrow or at least just stick to 3 meals a day

PeasandCucumbers · 23/06/2020 22:45

I had chips with my dinner this evening (albeit not that many!) but alas no wine!

Back to back fast days sounds pretty hardcore clevername! I’m a daily weigher too and I think it helps me stay focused and on track.

Hope you made it through til kids bedtime overweightcat Very early starts are a killer!

2 days back diligently recording and weighing every morsel and a calorie deficit of at least 771 today, probably closer to 900 so going to bed feeling chuffed Grin

overweightcat · 24/06/2020 08:15

Morning everyone!

I did stick to my 1200 yesterday I had enough left in my cals after dinner I could have a small Mr.Freeze Grin

Another early start today. Did a 15min fat burn workout followed by 7min abs - not the most ambitious but it's so hot I was sweating before even starting and at least it got me moving. Showered and currently having a coffee whilst DCs have their porridge and then will do some homeschooling.
Making myself a to do list to keep me occupied, I have the dentist on Friday and I'm already a ball of anxiousness...

Drybird2020 · 24/06/2020 11:30

Well, I've broken through the barrier and now have half a stone left to go!!

I fasted 2 consecutive days, Mon and yesterday, for operational reasons. Not recommended. Anyway, I am down 3 pounds on last week which is a lot, and clearly not sustainable, but I'm off my plateau. Onwards and downwards! Or something 😊

PowerslidePanda · 24/06/2020 13:19

Yes, the heat is definitely an extra challenge for exercise at the moment, @overweightcat! Sorry to hear you're so anxious about the dentist Flowers What is it about it that's worrying you?

Great calorie deficit, @PeasandCucumbers! And 3 pounds in a week is excellent - well done @Drybird2020!

overweightcat · 24/06/2020 13:56

Thanks @PowerslidePanda its a visible tooth something seems very wrong with and I'm worried it'll need to come out.
And now the dreaded AF has arrived and I want to consume all the savoury stuff.

Sticking to a mr.freeze for now and determined to keep it to 1200cals today I keep thinking about my deadline.
On the plus side I weighed myself after lunch and I'm 66.5kg so the 1 lb I gained over the last few days seems to have gone away - fingers crossed. I really don't want to plateau.

carrottopper · 24/06/2020 17:41

I wish I could get back into it. I'm really good until 4pm ish and I hat start snacking. My head is not in the right place today so will keep trying each day.

Plancina · 24/06/2020 19:07

I am on it now AF has gone! No booze or sugary foods - 1400 cals a day, lots of veg and protein. I have 5 weeks to lose 7 pounds for wedding! Eeek!
Great to hear of people’s successes, really keeps me going!

Lurkingforawhile · 24/06/2020 19:47

I've just realised I wasn't getting notifications so have missed loads of posts! I've been on 1210 net calories for a week and a day now and have lost a pound and a half which I'm very happy with. I'm finding having smaller dinners is part of the answer, as well as reminding myself to stop eating when I'm full. I did have half a yumnut today from m&s which was amazing. I realised I only wanted half (it's only really about the first few mouthfalls) and well worth 180 cals.

Well done to everyone still exercising in this heat. I managed gentle yoga yesterday and off for a short walk when it gets cooler.

CalmConfident · 24/06/2020 22:55

Fallen totally off the wagon today - cheese, magnum, 3 beers, choc Hob-knob, has many many profiteroles...

Tomorrow is a new day ....!!!!
