Have you done this? How have you done this?

I'm 5'8" and 19st.
I know I need to eat less and move more.

I have small children and I'm still breastfeeding. Apart from the standard chasing a toddler I'm pretty sedentary. I do all the cooking, not terribly unhealthy food but probably much too much of it.

Help me give myself a kick up my huge arse please!!

@ChequerBoard great achievement, and great motivation for those of us who have recently started our weight loss journeys.
@YellowPenny join in! The more the merrier.. I should have started earlier too but the most important thing is that you have started now.

YellowPenny · 16/05/2020 22:08

Thanks @Nixi4! My mum dropped off several homemade cakes today at our door (doesn't understand the concept of healthy eating) "oh but it's a little treat", and my husband is currently eating a lemon drizzle cake but I'm doing well, and for the first time haven't engulfed a cupcake.
I've screenshot @FATEdestiny post and it's motivating me to stop eating because I'm not hungry.
Hope everyone else is having a good weekend

HoldingForGeneralHugs · 18/05/2020 08:37

Ergh i put 1.5lbs on!! Not a great start 🙁 i mean i had a few slip ups over the week but i had been making changes. Its odd because i feel better in myself and my clothes a little bit looser! Wishful thinking probably.
I think im going to take measurements too and take pictures so im not just relying on the scales.

I am due on next week so im wondering if thats it?

Anyway! Happy monday everyone its nice and sunny here 😊 onwards and upwards (or downwards in our case!)

YellowPenny · 18/05/2020 09:40

@HoldingForGeneralHugs
Keep going! I'm a huge advocate of measurements as my weight does fluctuate depending on the time of the month.
I'm just about to weigh myself now after a week of dieting/ exercise.
How are you finding it so far? I was doing okay until I had to bake a cupcakes for a friends birthday (I did well considering how many I used to eat) but still a slip up.

Namechanger0800 · 18/05/2020 12:23

Morning all - keep going everyone! I think when you have tons to lose perseverance has to be the key.

I've lost 4lbs this week - was a tad disappointed as those 4lbs came off in the first 3 days of the week and then weight stubbornly stayed the same, despite me following my plan. Surely I can't have plateaued already??

Maybe Weighing myself everyday might not be the best thing and still trying to drink more water. How on earth do people drink 2 litres a day? I struggle to get 1/2 a litre down me.

So that's 1 stone 4 lbs in total and 8 lbs away from goal 1 - to reach 15 stone. I'm also doing 30 day shred 5 days a week and have done one week and one day so far.

Nixi4 · 18/05/2020 12:49

Week 1 4lb
Week 2 1.8lb
Week 3 3lb. Total:9.1lb

@Namechanger0800 amazing accomplishment so far
@HoldingForGeneralHugs perseverance will get you through. We aren’t perfect otherwise we wouldn’t be on this thread! I do think hormones have a major influence on us and I’m definitely more snacky at points in the month

daisyhead08 · 18/05/2020 15:17

I'm advocating for perseverance too. I have to keep going because continuing the way I was isn't really an option.

Nixi well done, 9 lbs in three weeks is a brilliant loss.

Keep going Holding I find my weight fluctuates terribly with hormones, it can be very disappointing when you've put in the work and you don't see the reward.

Welcome YellowPenny I can totally relate to how you feel about how people treat you. I can definitely see a difference and I hate it.

Namechanger I'm in awe of your results, well done. I hate water too, so I started to drink fizzy water with cordial in it. Then I weaned myself off the cordial so now I drink plain fizzy water. I can drink about 1 - 1.5 litres a day on a good day.

I'm plodding on. I'm finding the lack of scales really hard to deal with and I'm close to sending DH to get one when he does the shopping.

ChequerBoard · 18/05/2020 17:25

I would definitely not advocate weighing every day. I think that can a bit demotivating when you have tried really hard and it feels like nothing is happening.

I weigh no more than once per week, and have done this over the entire 11 months I have been doing this and it's really helpful now to see how even when I think I'm not doing well, looking back over the months I can see how far I've come.

I can also see clearly that I have a monthly dip where I retain water, and put on a couple of lbs which then drop off again the following week.

I also know that there are many times when I know I am thinner - clothes looser, visibly have 'lost weight' but this does not register on the scales. It catches up eventually but scales aren't always the most accurate guide to how you are doing day by day.

HoldingForGeneralHugs · 18/05/2020 18:34

Thank you everyone 😊 bleeding hormones!
I do need to do the measurements just know they are going to be bad!

Yellow i was finding it ok had a few slip ups so know i need to work on that! I made a batch of scones yesterday, its interesting see what actually goes into these things.
I find if i freezer these things (cake, brownies, scones etc) i have something in the house but also i dont overeat as i have to defrost it first.

Namechanger you have done really well! I agree though with others weighing yourself everyday can be soul destroying, once a week is a good one to do.
Im a bit of fish when it comes to drinking. I have sugar free squash and make it in pints and tend to have a few of these in a day. Shame it doesn't fill my bottomless pit up!

Nix i would love to loose that much in 3 weeks! I like that about not being perfect, its so true!

Daisy me too! I need to loose weight and get fit for my health.

Namechanger0800 · 19/05/2020 10:23

@nixi4 they are great results well done!

Yes agreed we weighing - haven't done it today so we shall see what happens next Sunday

Have just done day 7 of 30 day shred ...still not enjoying it but I can do more of it at least. How I hate jumping jacksConfused Supposed to do it 30 days in a row I think, but I am doing mon-fri as needs to be sustainable long term. Will I ever love exercise???

We r having an Indian takeaway tomorrow for a family birthday and am thinking about what to order. I am doing the blood sugar diet and trying to do 2 weeks of the fast800 but am probably somewhere between 800-1000 calories a day - Mediterranean style eating so low carb, protein, healthy fats etc.....am thinking of ordering chicken tikka (starter size) and vegetable curry....does anyone have any thoughts on that? Or better suggestions to keep calories and carbs low? Not sure what's in vegetable curry as never ordered one but maybe a vegetable side dish would be better? Not sure which ones. I'm going to keep my brunch really low tomorrow to compensate

YellowPenny · 19/05/2020 19:29

@Namechanger0800 I have the 30 day shred and you've inspired me to try and do it at least every weekday.. I did it a few times and gave up/ prioritised walking but I'm going to try and do both.

I lost 6lbs in the first week so I'm 16.1 which I'm really happy with, but I'm now only weighing myself once a week because I was getting obsessive.

@HoldingForGeneralHugs good tip about freezing certain foods so you have to wait until they defrost. I'll give this a go!

Nixi4 · 19/05/2020 19:43

@Namechanger0800 in the past when the family have had Indian.. I get 2xchicken starter and microwave some cauliflower rice..! I guess a veg curry would be ok, but depending on restaurant may be full of potato x

HoldingForGeneralHugs · 19/05/2020 19:49

Yellow thanks 😊 let me know how it works for you!

I went to tesco today and got lots of healthy snacks (carrots, celery, cucumber, tomatoes) so that hopefully i will snack on them! I could eat a whole tube of plum tomatoes so have to stop myself!

A good exercise work out up for your arms, pump up a paddling pool with a bicycle pump (still haven't managed to pump the tyres on my bike though!) Dear lord it was only a small pool but my arms burned and i worked up a sweat! 😂

YellowPenny · 20/05/2020 19:50

@HoldingForGeneralHugs I did it this morning and I found since I've upped my exercise I could do a lot more than I could previously! So that's promising.

I weighed myself this morning and I've lost half a stone. It was the motivation I needed to not drink several ciders in the garden (like I usually would when it's super sunny).

daisyhead08 · 21/05/2020 10:24

I love seeing the posts on this thread, it's great to have other people who are in the same boat and understand. Still no scales here, so no idea how I'm doing but clothes are a little looser and a pair of jeans that didn't fit two weeks ago are now on!

myfuckingfreezer · 21/05/2020 10:55

Hi all,

I'm also 5"8 and stated 2020 at over 16 stone and a size 20.

Am now 12"10 and so nearly a size 14! So still on my journey but so much happier than I was 5 months ago

Namechanger0800 · 21/05/2020 14:04

That's amazing @myfuckingfreezer - how did you do it? Any tips? I'm also 5ft 8 and was 16st 12 (have seen 17st 2 once as well). Am now 15st 8 so 12 stone anything seems small to me!

Thanks for advice about takeaway. I went for tandoori chicken and green salad and it was very nice!

Nearly done 2 weeks of 30 day shred so will have to go to level 2 on Monday. Don't think I've ever done that level and I've had the dvd for years and years.

YellowPenny · 22/05/2020 09:50

@myfuckingfreezer amazing!
That is such an inspiration.

Nixi4 · 23/05/2020 12:17

@myfuckingfreezer that is really impressive! This thread is really motivating me, I think it’s helping me with a level of accountability that I can’t BS through, I’m great at fooling myself! I know that I haven’t had a great week in terms of numbers but I also know I haven’t slipped.. so need to stick with it as it’s the long game that counts.

daisyhead08 · 23/05/2020 14:22

That's absolutely amazing myfuckingfreezer you've given me hope!!

Namechanger0800 · 24/05/2020 08:11

Yes it's the long game isn't it when you have a lot to lose....we must keep motivated. I am determined to get this weight off and overhaul my health.

Have resisted weighing for a week and lost 3lbs so am pleased with that. So that's 1st 7lbs lost to date and am 5lbs away from my first goal. I've also completed level 1 of shred so will start level 2 tomorrow .....had this dvd for years and years and never got to level 2 so will see how that goes- not sure I will be able to do it but if not will do another week of level 1.

How's everyone else getting on?

PintOfGin · 24/05/2020 08:26

I have the same stats as you and I'm on the nhs waiting list for bariatric surgery. Worth considering and discussing with your GP who can refer you.

YellowPenny · 24/05/2020 08:28

@Namechanger0800 Congratulations! That's amazing news.

I'm also still v-motivated to loose the weight (I've usually given up by now).

I'm weighing myself each day to get a weekly average and I've lost 10lb so far! Huge boost that I needed. I'm still 25lb from my first target (no longer an obese BMI).

Amazing news about level 2 - I'm doing it once every 2 days and still on level 1 but have noticed I can do more without having to pause for 5 seconds.

How is everyone else getting on?

daisyhead08 · 24/05/2020 13:47

Some super results happening here. It's so motivating. DH fixed the scales and I discovered that I am exactly one stone down since the first of the month. BMI has gone from 37.9 to 35.7, so another 7 lbs would bring me to 34.6. That's my next target. Would love to have achieved this in two weeks but that might be a little optimistic.

The programme I'm on recommends walking 4 miles in an hour, I'm nearly at that time. When I started I was nowhere near that but yesterday and today I did 3.9 miles in the hour, so almost there.

I keep focusing on the day that I can go back out into the world and not be hugely overweight. Thank you to the poster who gave me that goal!

Namechanger well done, that's a brilliant result.

YellowPenny keep going, 10lbs is amazing.

Nixi4 I'm going to copy your determination and attitude, it is the long game and I can't pretend anymore.

37lbs to being overweight for me. I can't believe that's what excites me. I'll never be so happy to be overweight. That's my medium term goal. I would love to be there by September.

Nixi4 · 25/05/2020 08:22

Week 1 4lb
Week 2 1.8lb
Week 3 3lb.

Week 4 1.3lb 10.3lb

Disappointed, but still a loss not a gain - I'm so much better at gaining! Started to introduce exercise, as need to not only loose weight but get healthy along the way.
