I'm starting CD on Tues. My main worry is how my body will adapt after being on a vlcd? Anyone due to start soon or have any experience of maintaining their weight loss on CD

Hi all

I finally started cd monday and first few days were fine but found days 3 and 4 very hard and today as well. I have been drinking loads but find that my tongue feels dry and my mouth feels like it is watering all the time is this normal its not very pleasant. I weighed this morning and had lost 9lb so far so pleased with that. I miss eating though.

Its great to read how well everyone is doing

Helen

Hi Helen,

helenhismadwife · 19/11/2007 07:29

well first week I have lost 10lb stupidly feel a bit disapointed but its still a good loss I guess still have a mouth like a budgie cage though

PatsyCline · 19/11/2007 11:33

Don't be disappointed! That's great. I lost 12 the first week and then only two the second, so I am sure that it evens itself out.

Re breath - I have taken to sugar-fee chewing gum - it does the trick.

helenhismadwife · 19/11/2007 12:54

and to add to it I have just eaten a piece of cheese and a piece of chicken slice just fancy a day off and a hot meal

PatsyCline · 19/11/2007 17:42

HelenHMW,

Don't sabotage yourself. You've done the hardest bit - getting through the first week. If you really can't face sole sourcing perhaps you could contact your counsellor and ask about one of the other plans?

Patsy

whoops · 19/11/2007 17:45

Helen - I lost 10lb in my first week it is a real achievment - you wouldn't lose that on ww or sw!
I too had a weak moment yesterday and had 3 party size sausage rolls luckily it didn't take me out of ketosis!
I have sugar free polo's for the dodgy breath as I'm not a chewing gum fan.

helenhismadwife · 19/11/2007 18:59

yes the first week is the hardest and I will be annoyed with myself if I wreck it all, I wouldnt loose that much on any other plan you are right.

I dont see my counsellor until 19th December its all a bit complicated but I live in France and here you can just buy it off the website I emailed cd in the uk to ask something and they have given me a cousellor in the UK who lives in Bristol where I come back to most of the time he is supporting me by phone and email and is great will see how I go until I see him and discuss options with him.

I cant get sugar free polos here either just gum and Im not a great fan of gum either!!

just a bit off topic but how are people going to deal with christmas?

whoops · 19/11/2007 19:02

I'm going to carry on ss but eat on day's I have meals booked which are the mn meet but I'm not overly keen on the menu! work christmas lunch and Christmas dinner which I'll probably just have a small portion of turkey & veg.
If you'd like me to send some sugar free polo's to you let me know! I know how much I rely on them at times!!

PatsyCline · 20/11/2007 17:13

I bought a dress from Ebay last week and couldn't do the zip up - today it went on like a dream. Hooray!

My Christmas plans are to stop CD, but eat as healthily and high protein/low carb as possible. I also plan to make my Christmas Day 'excesses' last just the one day rather than all week! I will then get back on the horse in the New Year.

Hope everyone's well - especially HelenHMW.

Patsy.

helenhismadwife · 20/11/2007 18:26

Thank you whoops dh is back in the UK next week so he has been instructed to get me some sugar free polos so next weekI should be smelling a bit sweeter

thank you Patsy Im not sure why I am struggling a bit this week, wanting to eat I think it could be pm trying really hard drinking etc dh is away on business which is a pain bless him he has been cooking for himself and the kids to save me having to go near food.

I dont know what to do about christmas if I was at home I would have christmas day off but we are coming back to the uk on 19th Dec my mum wants us to have a meal with her, then we are going to in laws, grandparents, and brothers and sisters. I just dont know how I am going to manage it but I dont want to undo the hard work

helenhismadwife · 20/11/2007 18:27

ohhh and Patsy well done on the dress you must be so pleased!!!

2littlins · 21/11/2007 10:01

Hooray, birthday today and I reached my goal!Got on my size 14 designer velevet jeans and they fit very comfortably!
Hope you are having a good week all. BTW I stopped smoking about 3 weeks ago and my breath is now minging. Are really self conscious of it.Are eating sugar free gum which seems to help temporarily. So you are not alone on the bad breath stacks!

PatsyCline · 21/11/2007 11:37

Wow, 2 littlins, that's great! You should feel so proud of yourself, especially giving up smoking at the same time.

Off to WI this afternoon - hoping for a better result than last week's two pounds. I deserve more...

MatildasMummy · 21/11/2007 12:16

i think my naughtiness caught up with me.... at monday's weigh in i only lost 1 lb but i think it have given me the kick up the backside i needed as i had been cheating and there is no getting away with it. want to lose another stone by Christmas so i have been much better since.
i just found i have been really bored and food is just becoming a prefunctory task rather than something exciting. my CDC said this wasn't necessarily a bad thing as it was giving me a chance to think about my relationship with food.
hope everyone is going well. good luck with your wi patsy and great news about the jeans 2 littlins. i am not down to a 14 yet (i wish) but the 16s aren't far off.
funnily enough one of my goals was to get to be the same size as my big sister so she could share some of her lovely clothes with me - jigsaw, hobbs etc. she has just had her first baby and she is now asking to borrow some of my size 16s because she isn't back into her old wardrobe. hopefully i can get into her wardrobe before she does....!

PatsyCline · 21/11/2007 16:54

Good on you, MM, for getting back into it.

I lost 3LBs this week. I am a bit disappointed, but know that I shouldn't be as that's 17 in three weeks. I felt as if I'd lost much more than that this week, but my CDC says that 3-4 is what most people lose.

MatildasMummy · 22/11/2007 09:28

picking up the thread on plans for christmas, i have decided to have a holiday from sole source and will be eating sensibly from the 13th December till the first week of the new year.

I don't intend to go mad but i want the odd roast potato and piece of pate and toast. also i missed my work christmas do last year as i was on maternity leave so i intend to make up for it and enjoy swanky party this year and various lunches i have been invited out for. i will probably just have one meal a day and avoid carbs if at all possible. i think i'm going to be a really cheap date in terms of alcohol though!

i then have new year at home which should be easier to manage, the spice girls on the 4th Jan (so excited!) and my best friend's 30th on the 5th Jan. After that it's back to the sole source. I think i have recognised i shouldn't go mad but i feel i should deprive myself either. it's the first time i'm cooking christmas lunch so i'm really looking forward to it all, and have even booked myself into the Rayburn Christmas demonstration so i know how to do it all properly!

hattiejacques · 22/11/2007 13:49

You're all doing so well!! There's so many of us now on this thread it's hard to keep up!! I've been really ill this week with a horrid virus and have been in bed for a couple of days. I should have started the 1000 plan and have tried to incorporate some of the foods but tbh have been struggling because of feeling so awful. My weight stayed the same last week after a weekend off and haven't a clue what'll happen this week. Hoping I don't go into starvation mode because of now dropping to 2 Cambridge diets.

Hi Hattie, Hope you are feeling better now.I am sure your body will adjust to dropping to cd's ok.Everyone comes off it eventually the trick is to try to do it the way they say to so we can get the best benefits from our efforts.
How much do you have to go now?
I have to admit its quite overwhelming the attention I am getting now as I have lost 6 stone since my heaviest days [3.5 on cd] and people are amazed.I am not where I want to be yet and everyone has now decided I don't need to loose anymore.Funny isn't how people react. I am not going to be swayed however from reaching my goal and are not feeling the need to stop over Christmas. Will obviously enjoy christmas day guilt free but thats just one day isn't it. I am lucky in the sense that I don't have lots of functions to attend at this time of year.
Thanks for the encouragement Patsy, I am quite proud of the fact that I have stopped smoking as well.
Have fun at your MN party Whoops!!!
Keep up all the good work everyone!

MatildasMummy · 23/11/2007 15:34

2littlins you have done so well. how long have you been doing CD now? i think i have about 6 stone to lose in total and almost half way there now, still seems like a long way to go though but i am determined to do it.

2littlins · 23/11/2007 18:52

MM I remember the day I weighed in at 118kg and thinking if I am ever to be healthy again I need to loose about 50kg.That works out as basically a whole person and it was incredibly depressing and a serious shock.
I finally feel healthy again.
You are doing great and you will get there a lot quicker than me.Its been fairly slow until I discovered CD. If you are half way there, there is no reason why you won't get to the end.
The funny thing is I only started CD to see if would actually work on me, the sceptic in me didn't think it would. I have been proved very wrong.

helenhismadwife · 26/11/2007 19:45

I wi today and have lost another 3lb so in the right direction

PatsyCline · 26/11/2007 20:28

Well done, HHMW!

How's everyone elsee doing? I have felt soooooooooooooooooooo hungry at times this week and I am really looking forward to having a proper human being's meal again.
However, I have had lots of positive comments on my weight and have dropped another size in trousers, so I shall hold off for a little while longer.

Patsy

MatildasMummy · 27/11/2007 15:03

weigh in last night and lost another 2.5lbs. The scales were dead on half a pound so it was unfair to round up or down as per usual. I kept getting on the scales to see whether i could get it to read .4 but to no avail. am on add a meal week this week so not expecting a big loss. i'm hopinh to lose 3.5 so i can get to my 3 stone in 10 weeks.
hope all going well. i have been cheating which is why i think my last 2 weeks have not been as good but it's all going in the right direction and already feel like a new woman.

PatsyCline · 27/11/2007 15:47

That's brilliant, MM.
