I'm starting CD on Tues. My main worry is how my body will adapt after being on a vlcd? Anyone due to start soon or have any experience of maintaining their weight loss on CD

PMSL, 2littlins. You mustn't forget nursery again - it's far too expensive!

Glad it's not just me being dopey. I have had noticeably more 'vague' moments this week, mainly as the result of poor sleep I imagine and that "I must do a million things at once urge". I hope that it improves as I am sure that I will leave one of the children somewhere soon...

PatsyCline · 12/11/2007 12:43

How is everyone? Good weekends?

hattiejacques · 12/11/2007 13:16

I'm good thanks patsy. I think I've managed to undo the result of my naughty day last week and am hoping to have lost a little extra. WI tomorrow so we'll see! Have been to topshop and found 2 lovely party dresses in size 12 so I'm thrilled to bits. Just feel a bit self conscious after being under wraps for so long! Btw whoops I saw your fab pics on minimins and you're looking fab. What a difference! So come on everyone where are you all and what are you up to?

Hi, Hattie,

Oh that must be another Patsy. I haven't put any pics on Minimims.

That's so great about your outfits. I know what you mean about the comfort of looser clothes - my friend who has lost three stones on CD finds it very hard to wear anything slim fitting even though it looks great on her. I had a lovely slim-flitting moment myself yesterday when a pencil skirt I love went on easily. It would not even start to zip up pre-CD!

Good luck tomorrow. I don't think that I have gone down much this week, but last week was a pretty amazing one so I won't complain if I can get over the stone mark.

Patsy

hattiejacques · 12/11/2007 15:55

Good luck with you WI patsy. I actually was referring to whoops about the photo's! I think we were at cross purposes although it might be a different whoops!!

whoops · 12/11/2007 17:59

Thanks Hattie! Am going to put a couple more on later in the same outfit I was wearing on the 1st pic you can really see the difference in that! (who are you on minimins?!) Good luck for your weigh in tomorrow
Patsy my boss is threatening to buy me some new trousers before the ones I'm wearing fall down in the office one day!!
My weigh isn't til Thursday and I'm hoping for a good loss! would love to get to a 2 stone loss!

2littlins · 12/11/2007 23:07

Hello everyone,
Had my WI on saturday and lost another 4.4lbs.Think I got my conversions wrong last week as my total in 8 weeks is now 38lbs.Can't actually believe its 3 stone in 2 months.
Had a good weekend but are trying really hard with the cardio workouts 3 times a week and tonig dvd's ...seem to be working.
Hattie size 12, wow I'm jealous!I am at 14 now and so thrilled.I don't think I have ever been smaller than a size 12 so it will be interesting to see how the next month goes.Hope you get some good news with your WI.
Good luck everyone else for your WI's.

Go 2 Littlns, that's fantastic. I am hoping to follow in your footsteps tomorrow. I've already bought my Christmas party dress in a smaller size and sold the bigger one.

Can I have your thoughts on the impact of 'planned lapses', everyone? I have two nigghts out which are big annual events in three week's time and I just can't see how I can stay on CD and attend them. Any tips on minimising the damage would be gratefully received.

MatildasMummy · 13/11/2007 11:37

i'm going for my weigh in this evening as was stuck in london with work yesterday. i have to confess that i have been naughty over the past week. nibble creep has started. it started with cottage cheese, then olives, tiny nibbles of toast, a couple of doritos with dip, then some celebrations that were left over in the tin, then some lamb koftas from m&s (very bad situation when almost missed last train home and was stranded in reading station for an hour at 10pm!). I feel terrible about it, especially as i was meant to be buddying on a no nibble pact! - sorry!! i think the problem is a busy patch at work, totm exacerbated by the fact it's my first cycle since having a copper coil and it's been quite painful and heavy. sorry if that's TMI! all in all contributing to lots of naughtiness.
on a better note i went into my office yesterday (i normally work from home) and got lots of compliments. I also met a new colleague who has lost 12 stone so far on lighterlife and it made me feel a bit more inspired. I want to get another stone off for Christmas. I'm only just fitting into my size 18s comfortably and it would feel so great to be a curvy 16 for Christmas.
apologies for the big speech just wanted to confess all and have a clean sheet for weigh in and a positive next week.

PatsyCline · 13/11/2007 12:26

Confession is good for the soul, MM.

Just keep going. You're doing brilliantly. For my part, I keep having fantasies about custard slices. I don't even eat them normally!.

2littlins · 13/11/2007 13:04

MM,You've had a week of it haven't you.I think the ones who can just put it behind them and aim for a good day one at a time seem to have the better long term results.I am back on track now and aren't bothered if I have a little slip up. Your support was fantastic when I really needed a push in the right direction so looking forward to hearing how you get on for the next week. You can do it! just get through one day and then start the next day just wanting to get through that.Sometimes a week is too big a focus.

Patsy I think the best you can hope for on a special night is to have fun and not miss out by not going or worse, going and being miserable.
My nights out are few and far between but I did go out with a friend to a girly night in this weekend.I had a couple of glasses of bubbles and nibbled on chicken pieces and sausages [not huge amount] and the end result was having a great time, didn't feel bad about eating and had a nice sleep on the couch before leaving [which for all of you who heard about my last night out minus any food will remember it ended in a dark alley]
So my only hints would be don't drink much as your tolerance will be miniscule.Try to stick to the protein as you will feel better the next day...my cd told me every lb of carbs puts on 4 lbs of water...so that keeps me well clear.Altho if you want a big night, carbs may be the soak up for the alcohol that helps. I guess its just try and see how it works for you.Don't miss out though, thats no fun.

Good luck

PatsyCline · 13/11/2007 13:12

Thanks, 2littlins. Yes, I think they the key thing is "not going wild" (sadly, not a strong point for me). I will try to behave in a ladylike fashion by sipping wine spritzers and nibbling at my food. I have some charity money riding on this so I really can't afford for it all to go pear shaped.

hattiejacques · 13/11/2007 15:06

I was having this very conversation with my cdc today as I've got a big night out on Saturday which will include a buffet. She's definitely an advocate of planned time off and reckons the key is to get straight back on the diet the next day and not let it go on for days. Her other advice was to have a meal prior to going out and to be careful with the alcohol because of reduced tolerance. She said she can gain 6lbs after a night out but loses it within 2 days so I suppose if it's not too often it can be done! Btw I lost another 2 lbs despite my eating day!

OP posts:
PatsyCline · 13/11/2007 15:49

Go, Hattie! Go, Hattie!

Thanks for the advice - that's really useful.

MatildasMummy · 13/11/2007 21:41

i went and confessed all to my CDC and she said that most people have a wobble. we talked about it and she said as long as I stayed in ketosis then i'll be ok. this seems to back up the stick to proteins and nibbles if you really have to go out.
anyway, i lost 4 lbs, so i have now officially lost 2 1/2 stone in 7 weeks - beating my target for 7 weeks by 1/2 stone. really pleased especially since indiscretions. am firmly back on the wagon and will behave this week. i need to. i want to lose another stone by Christmas.... i should repeat this mantra style until it starts to go in.
well done to everyone - especially Hattie for still losing after what sounds like quite a fun eating day!
whoops - looked at your pictures on minimins - you can see a real difference well done. i was too shy to let my CDC take pictures. i thought there was enough evidence of a fat me to commit any more to memory!

whoops · 14/11/2007 08:43

Well done MM that's a fab loss!
I took the pics myself at work!
I told my cdc that I had chicken tikka a couple of times and she told me that was a good choice as it was only protien, I have been good this week and stuck to my aam but I feel crap! My boss is taking the mick out of me now by saying I'm fine when I don't eat and as soon as I've had something I feel crap! I think I am going to ditch the aam for the rest of the week now.

2littlins · 14/11/2007 18:31

Whoops, what a difference. You look great!
I have been inspired and had to hunt high and low for a start picture.I was so ashamed at the state of me I have virtually no photos of myself before and never took a start picture.
Due to family in New Zealand demanding to see photos I took a fairly bad one and sent it a week agao.
These are now on minimin under 2littlins if anyone fancies a peek.Have no idea how to do anything else but managed to load the pictures somehow.

Patsy reporting in.

This week's WI was a bit of a contrast to last week's as I only lost two pounds, but last week was extreme so I won't moan. I think I have to up the water.

The great news is that my BMI is now down three points. Hooray!

hattiejacques · 15/11/2007 05:36

Well done all of you. I think we're all doing great. We're all achieving what we set out to and more. Whoops can I ask why you felt crap on your aam week?

OP posts:
whoops · 15/11/2007 07:18

Hattie - I think it is just a coincidence! I feel better today after having an early night (even if I was up 3 times switching my car alarm off ) I guess I had a few too many late nights!!

PatsyCline · 16/11/2007 10:02

My favourite skirt is too big for me as of this morning! It's an A-line denim skirt which looks fab with long boots and I've had so many comments on it. I feel happy that I'm losing, but sad that I can't afford to replace my beloved skirt - I only bought it in September from Principles.

I guess hitting the second hand shops is a good idea for now!

Patsy

PatsyCline · 16/11/2007 11:15

Sorry, just realised how bzarrely self pitying that last post sounded. FGS, am I really whining that my clothes are too big?! Ingrate!

Patsy

whoops · 16/11/2007 18:20

Patsy - I know what you mean about the clothes! I am hanging on to a couple of pairs of trousers at the mo because they are so compfy and reasonbly new!
I lost 3.5lb this week so nearly 2 stone gone
HAving my first real craving for a chinese tonight but am being strong and resisting! Will go and have a bath once the kids are in bed I think!

PatsyCline · 16/11/2007 19:33

Yes, it's great to get smaller but not so great to be getting rid of clothes in great conditon when you're broke. I think I will Ebay my lovely skirt. I just have to comfort myself with thought of the new outfits I will be forced to buy when I get another couple of stone off and until then I will haunt the charity shops.

BTW, this is my third Friday of having a sparkling water and spicy tomato soup while my DH has a big curry and a few beers, but I don't really mind now (honest ).

Have a good weekend, everyone!

Patsy

2littlins · 17/11/2007 11:25
