I'm starting CD on Tues. My main worry is how my body will adapt after being on a vlcd? Anyone due to start soon or have any experience of maintaining their weight loss on CD

You've done brilliantly, HJ! I hope that your CDC comes up with some good advice tomorrow.

Don't give up!

2littlins · 05/11/2007 10:12

Hattie, you have done so well.I am sure your cd will come up with something thats going to help. You haven't put any weight on when moving up towards normal calorie intake again, so that is a positive.
I'm still faffing around with protein when I shouldn't be.Who would have thought it was so hard to give up a portion of meat!! I gave up cigarettes a week ago but can't give up chicken LOL!!!!

MatildasMummy · 05/11/2007 22:47

Hattie you are doing really well, you're eating sausages (albeit quorn) but you haven't put on any weight and you are starting to rebuild your eating plans. keep at it and you will soon start to see the benefits.
Weigh in tonight (very late as have been out and about all day - I really struggle to keep water intake up when in the car, I think i need a catheter!) pleased as I have lost 4 lbs since last week, bringing total to 31lbs in 6 weeks.
2littlins - i haven't been good. today i got the munchies and went into marks to get celery but came out with olives. i have had about 8, no carbs, but still not sensible. i really want savoury stuff to chew. the bars are nice but i'm struggling a bit at the moment. have also been known to have a spoonful of cottage cheese. shall we make a pact to be good together and only stick to proper sole source foods?

2littlins · 06/11/2007 07:59

MM sounds good to me! I am due on and this is the time I normally crave chocolate but I think I have substituted that for chicken LOL! in my head.
I know in the grand sceme of things I am still doing well but its dawning that if I continue like this it is going to take twice as long to finish.
I am determined to start a day saying no protein and not actually have it.I tried spacing out my ss meals yesterday by 5 hours with an extra litre of water and that may help.
I'll let you know.
Lets do it together today....will let you know later how I get on.

MatildasMummy · 06/11/2007 08:14

good plan. need to up my water intake again so will be using my kitchen timer to do a pint every hour.
I don't have any bad stuff in the fridge (except the rest of yesterday's olives) so will be getting rid of them, or hiding them at the back for dh when he gets home from work.
good luck and steer clear from that chicken!

MatildasMummy · 06/11/2007 10:08

Hattie - forgot to ask. how did you get on with your CDC - did you get to talk through the 790 plan with her? hope all went well

hattiejacques · 06/11/2007 10:34

Thanks to you all for your support. It's really helped me get through the difficult bits especially recently. You're right I haven't gained and have come a long way. Sometimes I focus too much on my weekly loss and forget about the 32 lbs I've lost overall. I got weighed yesterday and to my surprise had in fact lost another 2 lbs. I talked through the issue of whether I should be on the 1000 plan by now and my CDC seems clear that the guidance is that you should be on 1000 plan by the time you reach BMI 25. That means one more week of 790 then move up a plan. She doesn't think my weight loss has slowed down because I'm not eating enough as suggested on minimins. She said it happens sometimes especially when there's not alot left to lose. So there we are! I've kind of accepted that this last bit will be alot slower than I thought.
Btw 2littlins how much chicken are you having and do you think it's affecting your weight loss? Tbh if it isn't I wouldn't worry too much if it keeps you on the diet. My CDC told me about a client who only has mousses as it's the only way she can do it and she's still losing well.
Thanks again mm 2littlins and patsy for responding to me in my hour of need and giving me a boost

Hattie, it was because of your wonderful weight loses & MM messgaes that really got me started on this diet. I was pondering but all you MN friends really made me bite the bullet and get on with it. I am so glad I joined. You keep up the good work. I have just had me 3rd weigh -in . Lost 5lbs so in all 18lbs in 3 weeks. I am so pleased. I keep dreaming of what food to have on my AAM week. How sad is that. Queen have you had your weigh in yet? I bet it's great news!!!
2littins 37.5lbs thats fantastic. Patseycline keep up the good work. Whoops I think we are keeping along the same weight loss together. We will all get there soon.....

PatsyCline · 06/11/2007 13:12

Oh, HJ. That's such good news. I am looking forward to reporting in on weigh in tomorrow. Still no blips.

I had a bizarre dream about eating a white baguette on Saturday night - how sad is that! I am a wholemeal bread lover, but my brain is clearly doing weird things to me.

hattiejacques · 06/11/2007 13:25

I've had lots of foodie dreams too!! I'd only admit it on this thread! I'm thinking of doing some exercise to tone up my flabby bits. Any suggestions for a good dvd that can be done in half an hour or so?

OP posts:
PatsyCline · 06/11/2007 13:55

I really like the Davina McColl ones. Power of three or something like that. I started off doing those at home and went to the gym once I felt that I was reasonably fit.

The music on the Davina one is good and you can turn her off if you get sick of her!

PatsyCline · 06/11/2007 13:57

Sorry, meant to that it is called Power of Three because it has three 30 minute workouts on it.

2littlins · 06/11/2007 14:00

Hiya,
So far so good mm I think buddying up may be the trick here.I'll keep you posted.Just finish 2L so will start the next after the school run.BTW I have a bottle that holds 900ml and put in .5 of a teaspoon of the orange flavour from cd and drink it almost in one sitting, so as long as I get through 3 bottles a day thats nearly 3L.
Hattie...I have been doing the pilates band dvd and dina band dvd [it has a 10 minute work out for each day on a different part of the body [I like this one but they are both great], both can be found on amazon a lot cheaper than buying brand new.
I have also recently aquired a stepper arm training thingy off our local freecycle site which burns 250 calories in half an hour... whao who!! so keep an eye out for the offereds on your local group.Think you have to offer something before you get the offereds come through on your email [people usually pick up the offereds from the offeree]...so offer some of those clothes that are now too big!..... www freecycle co uk [put in the dots instead of spaces]
Freecycle is a group set up to stop the filling up of landfill sites with items that could go to a new home who appreciates them...ie my trainer. We give away loads that is in the loft and no longer needed and it saves a trip to the dump.
Keep me posted MM, WE CAN DO A DAY!

2littlins · 06/11/2007 22:00

I did it!!
Second time in 2 weeks.Tomorrow is another day and I will try really hard again.Hopefully can get straight back into ss now if I just take one day at a time.
Hows your day been MM?
Well done mags you are still going strong.
x

MatildasMummy · 06/11/2007 22:14

well done 2 littlins. i have done better today. hubbie bought some olives but then dropped them on the floor and there were 2 olives unsullied so we had one each. tomorrow i will be better i promise! i don't even really like them that much just know they don't have any carbs!
just had my final tetra of the day and off to bed to watch spooks. still need to up water intake. don't feel too bad though given minor indiscretions.
have mad busy day at work tomorrow so there will be no temptations and I may be ok.
good luck all....

hattiejacques · 07/11/2007 13:56

I've got a confession to make. I had a terrible day yesterday and ate loads. I ended up eating the leftover halloween sweets and then had shepherds pie, 2 glasses of wine and some chocolate. I don't do it by halves that's for sure! Obviously I felt terrible and phoned my CDC who was lovely and told me to see it as my one blip! She might be cross if I have another but hopefully I won't. So drinking loads today and have gained 2 lbs for my naughtiness. Now I can't believe I've managed 9 weeks without cheating - apart from the wine gum incident for those of you who remember it!

OP posts:
PatsyCline · 07/11/2007 14:25

HJ, you've done so well and have had amazing self-control for weeks, so don't start beating yourself up. Do what 'naturally slim' people do and just forget the blip.

I've read this thread from your OP and I can't believe how far you've come since early September.

Patsy

PS: Also think you'd better change your name to Eric Sykes

PatsyCline · 07/11/2007 17:20

Oh, I need to let everyone know that I lost 12lbs and my BMI has come down three points.
Hopefully, within the next couple of weeks I will be merely overwight!

whoops · 07/11/2007 18:29

Well done Patsy! that's a fab loss!
MP yes, we do have similar weight loss I have lost 20.5lb in 3 weeks but I don't think this weeks loss will be that great as I had chicken tikka on Friday and last night to celebrate getting through my exam!!
I'm meeting a friend for a drink tonight, she is going to think I'm mad just drinking water in the pub
I've arranged to see my cdc tomorrow lunchtime so will report back after that!

hattiejacques · 07/11/2007 18:45

You're right Patsy I was thinking of a name change as I feel less and less like Hattie Jacques even though my bosoms are still huge! You're doing really well. Keep going - it's so worth it.

OP posts:
2littlins · 07/11/2007 20:59

Well done patsy & whoops you are doing fabulously!
Hattie...I have been sniggering all day since reading your confession LOL!!!!!!You are hilarious, you certainly don't do cheating in halves.
I think everyone is bang on with their comments. It happened, its one day, just start afresh and forget about it.Look ahead and I hope you enjoyed everymouthful.
MM how did you get on today? I am just downing my 4th litre today and think I am now on the straight and narrow again. No protein today.Thank you for your support I don't know if I would have done it without your push. BTW I am also having great fun selling all my too big clothes on ebay.

PatsyCline · 09/11/2007 12:52

I am sitting here wearing (comfortably) a pair of trousers that I couldn't even ram on last Wednesday. How cool is that?!

Does anyone feel a bit hyper on CD? I feel like I am bursting with energy to a slightly manic degree!

2littlins · 09/11/2007 13:15

Hey patsy,if you look back to when I started I had exactly the same feeling for about the first week.Felt extremely euphoric,no one else commented on it so thought it was just me being slightly bonkers.Enjoy it! You will mellow into it after time and those trousers you are sitting comfortably in will be too big soon

PatsyCline · 09/11/2007 13:31

Thanks, 2littlins. The feeeling is great during the day, but I couldn't sleep last night because my mind was buzzing.

2littlins · 09/11/2007 16:23

I didn't get more than about 3-4 hours sleep a night for the first 3 days.It was like I was having some kind of break down mentally.I would lie in bed and my mind was whirring about a million miles an hour with things popping in and out of thought faster than I could ever manage to think them.It was on wharp speed auto pilot.
Thankfully it did settle down quickly but have noticed I am a lot more dippy on this cd than I have ever been....took my 3 year old to nursery on his day off! Was having so much playing with him another day I forgot to take him to nursery!and went to pick up 6 year old at 3pm when he was supposed to be picked up at 4pm after choir practice ....not once but TWICE!!! two weeks on the trot. All of this since starting! Thank goodness it hasn't been too serious yet and I am trying really hard now to not be such a plonker.
Don't forget to weigh myself though!!!!
