I'm starting CD on Tues. My main worry is how my body will adapt after being on a vlcd? Anyone due to start soon or have any experience of maintaining their weight loss on CD

have you found it easier/ harder than say weight watchers?

i feel that i have a real prob with food, and it kind of rules my life at the moment and i am so fed up with it

hattiejacques · 13/10/2007 15:43

Well done 2 littlins on your great loss!! I know what you mean about the joy of getting into smaller clothes. I'm squeezed into a pair of large 12's (with considerable overhang sadly) but at least I can get them past my knees! Keep going everyone and keep posting. I'm in the middle of 3 night shifts at the mo so have got plenty to keep me away from the evil food!

Tottie, I think most of us have problems with food and eating so you're not alone there. I think that's the reason I've found SS so easy (relatively speaking you understand) is because I haven't had the deal with the whole food thing. I've even got used to preparing food for the family and knowing it's non negotiable whether I have any has helped immensely. I have succeeded with WW before but after losing an initial stone I got into the pattern of overeating for 3 days and then starving until it was weigh day. It's so individual as to what works and so much of it depends on your mental attitude at the time. That's my view anyway. Good luck!!

The weight loss recorded here is so amazing that I'm tempted to try this diet - almost! Actually, it sounds like pure torture but wishing all you nutters the best!

Tottie32 · 13/10/2007 16:07

thanks hattie you are also an inspiration,
size 12's very envious,

i would love to be a size 14/16.... i am currently a 20

hattiejacques · 13/10/2007 16:21

You'll get there. Just keep going and it WILL happen. The more you lose the better you'll feel and your motivation to get to your goal will just increase. Lots and lots of luck. You're doing great

HI everyone
I've started today! I seem to be manageing ok so far I had a chocolate shake warm for breakfast and just had a chicken & Mushroom soup for lunch - I quite liked it expect I used a bit too much cold water so it was luke warm instead of hot! I do feel hungrier now though after having it lol!
Oh well just the afternoon to get through until dinner time!
Hope everyone is ok

2littlins · 14/10/2007 15:20

Hiya , well back from my night out and had great fun but ended in disaster.
Had about 6 drinks in all over 7 hours and had been drinking just water for about an hour and a half. I came over rather blah to say the least and it ended in an alley...lets just leave it there.Did feel immediately better however and have woken up feeling great today with not a hint of suffering!

So my conclusion would be if you drink keep it to no more than 2 or 3 and be prepared to have no tolerance what so ever.
But I did look at the kebabs and chips in horror at the taxi line, so there was no temptation there.Got home and had a nice oriental chilli soup.

As for the question of comparing cd to ww I have done that and just like Hattie I to immediately work out how to cheat so I can eat an entire box of chocolate covered bars in one day and not eat food.

At the risk of sounding shrinkish, I think the ss part of cd makes you stare your relationship with food in the face.
I really saw how much I wanted to eat just beacause I wanted to ,not because I needed to.
It completely breaks the emotional eating cycle so you can see it for what it is and if you can stick at it for more than 3 weeks I really do think it has got easier.I don't have that "I really want something to eat now but don't know what" feeling, which was obviously my emotional eating taking over.

We all have had little blips along the way but I think the huge positives from sticking at it outweigh any little hiccup we have encountered. Most of mine have been cringingly embarassing but hay ho.

Keep going you are all doing great and good luck for those starting week one!!
x

hattiejacques · 14/10/2007 18:28

I chuckled at your alleyway escapade and have to admit I'm jealous of you having a few drinks!! Still when I come out of ketosis I'm going to have a lovely glass of wine to celebrate my achievement. I'm being weighed a day early tomorrow and then I think I'll be going on to 790. I've got so used to SS and can't imagine fitting food in as well as 3 cd packs. Nights went well. I wasn't hungry at all. Good luck whoops with your 2nd day tomorrow. Stick with it. It gets sooo much easier.

2littlins · 14/10/2007 19:08

Hope the weigh in goes well tomorrow. You are doing so well on the nights as they really mess your system about, well done!
That glass of wine is going to taste soo good!!
How much more are you wanting to lose now that you are going up to the 950 calories a day?
I can't really imagine being there yet,I have quite a ways to go, but I will get there
x

whoops · 14/10/2007 19:20

I managed to get right through til about 6.45 without needing to have my last soup!
Today hasn't been as bad as I thought it would but then I tend to pick and eat more at work than I do at home.
Oh well we will have to see how tomorrow goes (I am going to have a spare shake with me that my cdc gave me for just in case!)

hattiejacques · 14/10/2007 20:31

Thanks 2 littlins. I'll let you know. My bmi 25 is 10 st 8 lbs so I'd like to hit that and then see how I feel. I used to be 9 st but could never maintain that now. Will probably be happy at around 10 st. Can't really believe it's a possibility but then I didn't think I'd be able to get as far as I have

off for my week 3 weigh in tomorrow. i had a quick measure this morning and I have lost over 4 inches off my waist since I started so pretty chuffed. I downloaded a funky spreadsheet off minimins and it's telling me that I've nearly lost 10% of my bodyweight. compare that to ww where i just yoyo'd and never ever looked likely of getting that little key ring thing - let alone getting to goal!
for those with weigh ins tomorrow good luck - especially hattie and let us know how you get on with 790. I'm getting all excited about my aam. i'm off on half term with hubbie who is a teacher and I will probably spend a lot of the day thinking about my 50g of chicken or fish...
i starting to get bored of mushroom soup but i'm loving what the scales tell me!

ps. dh went to tesco today and bought himself a mouthwatering finest chicken in sauce thing to have with nice chips and salad. he asked me to put the oven on while he put dd to bed. in a hurry i clicked the grill on by mistake and we only discovered this when he removed his cremated dinner 20 minutes later. feel terrible, but it did look just that bit too yummy!
pps. serves me right he's just come back with fish and chips!

hattiejacques · 15/10/2007 18:15

How did your weigh in go mm? Went for my week 6 wi today and have lost another 3 lbs. I'm now officially a 790 girl and am quite apprehensive about it. I'm looking forward to having 1/2 pint milk to have in my tea. Bliss!! Will let you know how I get on. How's it going whoops?

Hi

hope you dont mind me joining you. Firstly well done all of oyu on your losses its really inspirational to read, makes me realise that similar losses are possible for me as well.
I have been a yoyo dieter for years now, have tried ww didnt work really for me, and sw worked until I got bored and tried to cheat with amber days so now I have decided to go for the cambridge diet. I am to ashamed to say just how much I have to loose, I would really appreciate some advice before I actually start the cd plan. I live in France and here they dont have cousellors unless you live in Nice or Paris you can just buy the stuff but I have spoken to someone at cd head office who has said that I can see a cousellor in the uk everytime I come back, which is about 6 weekly.
What I would like to know is can you advise me the best thing to do to prepare to follow this plan, I am going to follow the slimming world plan and up my fluid intake any other suggestions would be appreciated.
Look forward to joining you in weight loss
Helen

2littlins · 15/10/2007 22:26

Looking forward to hearing how you got on MM.
Well done Hattie, back to the world of eating.Scarey but good.I am sure now that you have come this far the results will keep you focused.........get on here if you want to do something you shouldn't and we'll talk you out of it !!!
Hope its going well for you Whoops, I was pleasantly surprised after 3 days that it wasn't as bad as I had built it up to be.You'll be at the end of the first week before you know it.
Losingit are you still going strong??

2littlins · 15/10/2007 22:53

Hi Helen, just saw your message. Hope you will be joining us!
I read up on everything before I started without a councillor and I think upping the water and reducing carbohydrates as much as you can the week before you start helps. They also recommend you don't do the last big supper the night before as it makes any discomfort from reducing carbohydrates worse.
You can buy the book by the professors who did all the medical reasearch on it before it was released for sale as a diet. This is great for finding out all about the diet and how it works.THE CAMBRIDGE DIET by DR ALAN N HOWARD.
Good luck!!

whoops · 15/10/2007 23:02

HIya,
Things are going well so far! I know know I can survive without food and the food I was eating was just for the hell of it in between meals!
I've just finished day 2 and I feel ok! I haven't felt too rough my head feels a bit fuzzy but other than that I'm ok! I don't like the vegetable soup so I am going to change those on Wednesday!
Helen - I tried cutting down my carb intake and got into the routine of drinking water but I managed the water intake but prob could have cut down on the carbs more!!

helenhismadwife · 16/10/2007 08:36

thank you for your advice I am going to ease myself into it by following slimming world and reducing my carbs and upping my water intake. I have got the shakes and stuff already. Just need to get all the information from cd then set a date

magpumpkin · 16/10/2007 09:24

Morning all, well I have my 1st visit with my CDC today at 1.00pm. Can't wait actually, and that's all down to you lot!!. Your weight loses' have been an inspiration to me and no doubt many others. I think i will start tomorrow as I need to drink a fair bit of water today.. hopefully no headaches for me. well speask later.. mags

hattiejacques · 16/10/2007 11:46

Mag and Helen sending you loads of luck with CD. It's just the best diet ever! And well done whoops on getting through your first few days. It'll get easier day by day now especially when you see those scales. I've been shopping this morning and bought a big jar of pickled cabbage to have with my chicken later. A weird concoction I know but I can't wait!

OP posts:
2littlins · 16/10/2007 17:50

LOL, can't say as a jar of pickled cabbage would have been on my shopping list but if its anything like pickled ginger [ie sushi]I could be converted!!

whoops · 16/10/2007 18:08

stop talking about food lol!
I'm peeling a bit peckish at the mo but have dished the kids dinner up who wouldn't!!
My willpower is working overtime at the moment as I'm so tempted to have just one bite of a sausage!
Oh well get the kids to bed then I can have my last soup of the day! I may even have a small sip of coke zero too!
Everyone is being really supportive which is great although my boss does take the mick a bit.
Can you have pickled cabbage? although I think anything will be great after 4 weeks of just soups & shakes

Spillage21 · 17/10/2007 12:40

Hello

Have been spying this thread for a few weeks and taking inspiration from it. Thought I should join in now...

Started CD (790) three weeks ago. Found it surprisingly easy. Have lost 9lbs so far (5lbs in first week). Was slightly disappointed with losing 4lbs over two weeks because I look (and feel) like I have lost more than that.

It is interesting how it has made me examine my relationship with food. I was really bored one Sunday, and realised that I would usually eat to counteract it.

MatildasMummy · 17/10/2007 16:37

hi all - apologies it's taken me so long to post my weigh in stuff. have been mad busy with work which is always useful for keeping my mind off being naughty! I lost another 5 lbs taking my total to 21lbs in 3 weeks... very pleased with how it's going and i'm on target for 3 stone by Christmas. I'm also getting more and more excited about aam week!
Hello to all the newbies. I have to say that I'm getting a lot of support from this thread and the people on it originally were my inspiration to take the plunge and now 21 lbs lighter I realise how pleased I am that I did. Interestingly, last time I had my daughter weighed just before she was 1 she weighed 21lbs and 12 ozs and now everytime I pick her up it reminds me of how much I have lost and I feel quite good about myself.
has anyone given themself any milestone rewards yet? I bought myself a new handbag for my 1 stone!
