I'm starting CD on Tues. My main worry is how my body will adapt after being on a vlcd? Anyone due to start soon or have any experience of maintaining their weight loss on CD

Thanks,I too find it hard to imagine eating now.Its become a way of life and I wouldn't dream of stopping yet as the results are just so good.

I am quite tired this weekend though.Had big plans of sorting housework...none of which has been done.

Are supposed to be going out with a girlfriend next saturday and are completely stumped at what to do as I want to go out.
Will look a bit sad drinking pints of water all night!!!!! Maybe a couple of vodka sodas won't cause too much damage....especially if I dance them off.Does anyone know the least worst drink to have if you do have a drink.

Keep up the good work hattie, anyone else still hanging in there...???

Hows it going loosingit

notquitesobigfatmummy · 07/10/2007 22:41

Hi

I'd be careful about drinking when on SS as I believe it can actually be very dangerous. There's a link somewhere about it - I'll see if I can find it. May be worth checking it out with your CDC when you see her?

Sorry to put the dampners on your night out... looks like it may be bottled water and coke zero for a while!

2littlins · 07/10/2007 23:15

Thanks NQSBFM, I am seeing her on Tuesday so will see what she thinks.I wasn't going to have a bender or anything just thought it might be nice to sprinkle a couple of drinks in with the water. I am pretty commited to this now and succeeding, so its no big deal if I can't have any.

MatildasMummy · 08/10/2007 23:09

Week 2 weigh in - lost 4 lbs, so in 2 weeks that's a total of 16lbs. I'm pretty pleased although I thought I might lose more in week 2. Think I wasn't drinking enough water so am coming up with new strategies to make sure I drink 3l minimum.
how is everyone else getting on? see that littlins you are doing really well.
I'm loving the bars - especially the chocolate ones....

1legmummy · 08/10/2007 23:30

Hi you all sound fantastic. I am after lots of advice. I am 5 stone overweisht and an amputee so really need to lose weight.

My problem is also that I am slightly depressed and so use food as my buddy.

I am looking into all diets, I have tried all the diets and clubs many times but never tried cambridge diet,

How do I get on it? Is slimfast any good

Thanks

Emmax

1legmummy · 08/10/2007 23:31

One more question I am breatfeeding - is that ok for the diet?

2littlins · 09/10/2007 09:31

Well done MM, you are in the swing of it now so keep going as it just keeps coming off.You might find you lose more in week 3 like me.I didn't lose much in week 2 but lots in week 3.It helps having something you really like as a meal.Great to see you are doing so well!

Hi Emma, Its good you are looking at losing weight but you might need to wait until you stop breastfeeding. I don't think this is a diet suitable for anyone pregnant or breastfeeding. This is because it is such low calorie intake per day if on sole source [replace all meals with nutrition replacements of soups or shakes or bars]. Your best option would be to go on the official website and find a councillor in your area. They can fill you in on all the specifics in relation to your health and recommend the best time for you to start and what plan would be best. Good luck!!

SpookyMadMummy · 09/10/2007 09:57

Hi there Emma
Yes, if you are pregnant or given birth within the last 3 months or if you are breastfeeding it does rule you out from CD. Same goes for major surgery within 3 months, insulin dependent diabetics and certain other medical conditions.

MatildasMummy · 09/10/2007 11:03

Emma, i decided i needed to do something about my weight and i tried weightwatchers last january when i was still feeding but it didn't work for me (partly will power partly time!) i then looked at cambridge but as i wanted to bf my little girl until she was 12months i waited until then to get started. having a focus on the diet has helped me to not miss feeding her as i was worried i would. 2 weeks in all going well. how old is your baby?

whoops · 09/10/2007 12:03

Hi everyone!
I am seeing a CDC tonight - what should I expect?! Am a bit nervous!!
I probably won't start it til sunday though as I have hockey on Saturday and want to give as much time to get used to things as possible

2littlins · 09/10/2007 21:50

Hi Whoops, hope it went well with the cdc.
Update us with how you get on its nice to do this with others!
Good luck!!

whoops · 10/10/2007 10:03

Hiya,
Last night went well!
I have decided to have a shake and 2 soups a day! She didn't say I needed to test to see if I was in Ketosis though so I asked her and she said I could buy the strips if I wanted
I'm going to start on Sunday as I have hockey on Saturday and don't want to be in the middle of getting used to surviving without food!
Also dh is on a late shift next week so he won't have to put up with me being unbearable
Any survival tips would be gratefully received too!

hattiejacques · 10/10/2007 13:26

Hi everyone. Had my week 5 weigh in (also aam week) and have lost another 2 lbs. My cdc told me to do another week of SS and then start moving up the plans. I have to admit that I rather like SS and would prefer to stay on it because there's less temptation and the weight loss is fab. My aam week went well. On day 7 though I did overindulge in some chicken but hey it was chicken and not chocolate! Great to hear you're all going strong and doing so well. Good luck whoops for Sunday.

Hattie you are doing so well.Keep up the good work and hey a bit of chicken in 5 weeks is a triumph!!!

magpumpkin · 11/10/2007 09:33

Hi all, I have decided to bite the bullet and join you all in losing weight. I have tried WW, SW etc but to no avail. I am 5'6 an weigh approx 14st. oh my god!!!! I emailed my local CDC yesterday and she phoned me last night. i have a meeting with her on Tuesday afternoon. Unfortunatly my DH was less than enthusiastic last night when i told him that I was starting this diet. "who will cook the meals? where is the money coming from?" I really got upset with him. I told him I needed encouragement not putting down. I hop to god I can stick at this. I think I am really going to need all your help & encouragement as I doubt I will get it at home. Fingers crossed for everyone .

magpumpkin · 11/10/2007 13:43

Bump please....

2littlins · 11/10/2007 15:10

Hi Mags..join in the more the merrier. My husband was the same and is still fairly uninterested.Enjoys having a happier me about though and does think its good..he probably thought I would get nowhere yet again.Do it for you and you will feel soo much better soon.
Good luck and keep us posted.
What does bump mean???? I am new to chat threads...

hattiejacques · 11/10/2007 18:39

Bump just means you're flagging up your post again because no one's replied to it! Welcome mags btw and good luck with starting the diet. It's the best one I've ever done. I still can't believe I'm in week 6 and have already lost 23 lbs! You'll get lots of support on here and also on minimins. There's loads of really good advice on there to keep things interesting.

OP posts:
whoops · 11/10/2007 20:03

Hi Mags, I'm going to be starting cd on Sunday, I have all my soups and shakes for the week now.
I was given an extra one and am thinking of trying one in a while just to see!
My dh was the same as yours about meals and money also he is worried I'll lose loads of weight then put it straight back on again - that has made me even more determined to keep to it
I have started getting into the habit of drinking water, I drank 7 pints today

MatildasMummy · 12/10/2007 10:59

whoops - oh my god, how much water? did you spend all day on the loo? well done though. i really struggle with the water, getting just about the minimum of 2.25 litres a day, although only noticed the other day that if you have a tetra or a bar then you have to add an extra quarter litre.
generally though really happy with the diet.
hattie you are doing really well. seems so weird to be sinning with chicken. the other week when you talked about your aam supper of tuna and cottage cheese made me so envious. pleased that I am starting to crave good for me foods rather than chicken korma!
last Saturday saved my bar for the evening and cut it into tiny chunks to enjoy as chocolate while watching strictly come dancing. my dh thought i was mad!

whoops · 12/10/2007 15:18

MM - I probably won't drink so much at the weekend! I sit and drink water at my desk and seem to be getting through about a pint an hour! (they are taking the mick about how much time I am spening in the loo though as I used to only go once a day here
I tried the chocolate mint shake this morning and had it warm it wasn't as bad as I thought so I think I'm going to be ok!!

2littlins · 13/10/2007 12:04

Hi All,end of week 4 weigh in for me today.
Lost 4.2lb which takes my total to 23.9lbs

VERY happy!!

I am going out tonight with my girlfriend and have spoken to the cdc who said I can have a couple of drinks with slim line tonic or diet coke but the temptation will be huge to eat after drinking.
I am only going to have a couple of drinks as be being plastered under a table somewhere does not sound like a good night out.Think I will put a tetra in her freezer for when we get home!!! And take some soup for breakfast.

If I lose a small amount in the next week then I will do aam week, otherwise I think I will just continue on with ss.Went to my gp on friday and she was really nice.Thought it was great I had lost 2 stone. Was happy with everything so she said I could continue on doing what ever I was doing. So glad she wasn't anti cd like some of you have come across.

Have good good weekend everyone
x

Tottie32 · 13/10/2007 14:14

wow that is a fab loss in so little time, i am being nosey > how much would you like to lose

i am planning to start this diet on monday.... but i did say that last week,.... but i badly need to do it., got 3.5. stone to lose and by looking at this it wont take to long

2littlins · 13/10/2007 15:20

Hi Tootie,
Come on join in, you will be soo glad you have after a couple of weeks when the weight is falling off.I don't mind you being nosey.
I am pretty rubbish at the whole pounds thing and have to convert from kilos each week.
I started at 102.6 and are now at 91.7kg.
Ideally I would like to get to low 70's which is losing another 18kg or so ,or 40 more pounds to go [3 more stone!!].
Its still quite daunting but I figure I am a third of the way there and if I stick to this, which I think I can I will get to my goal eventually.
I have gone down 2 jeans sizes so far [from a 18/20 to a size 16.I actually got on a pair of trousers today in a 14 from my favourite label.Looked fairly ridiculous as very snug but I got them up and done up all the same. Its these little triumphs that make me keep going.

Thanks for the encouragement.
x

2littlins · 13/10/2007 15:21

Ooops Tottie sorry!!!! between my typing and rubbish spelling I don't stand a chance at getting things right
